This Alpha Is So Devoted to His Wife - Chapter 63
Lu Xinghe’s four sports cars were all confiscated.
Early on a Sunday morning, the Royal Family sent people to tow the cars away. The tow trucks, emblazoned with the royal logo, were conspicuous, as if ensuring the neighbors sixty meters away wouldn’t miss the sight of the cars being repossessed.
From the floor-to-ceiling windows of the third-floor study, Duan Yuluo took a sip of coffee, watching the cars being towed away one by one with a distant expression.
Just as he was about to finish the coffee, the cup was taken from his hand by the person behind him.
He frowned and looked back.
Lu Xinghe took the cup, drank the remaining coffee, and then stood beside him. “How many times have I told you to drink less coffee? You won’t sleep well at night.”
Duan Yuluo didn’t say anything, turning his gaze back to the window downstairs, watching the car Lu Xinghe loved to drive most being pulled onto the tow truck. “Star, it’s okay. I’ll buy you new ones.”
He had already begun to take over the Galaxy Group’s branch in D Country, starting to handle all the operations. If he just worked a little harder, he could buy Lu Xinghe everything he wanted.
Everything could be owned.
Lu Xinghe held the coffee cup, his other arm wrapping around Duan Yuluo. He looked outside, watching his most cherished Maybach being towed away with an air of composure. “It’s fine. They’re just cars.”
In his mind, he was already planning which cars to replace them with—preferably a pair of matching cars for his baby and him.
Duan Yuluo didn’t know what Lu Xinghe was thinking, but he didn’t want him to feel down. After all, Lu Xinghe’s cards and cars had been taken, and even his contacts with Uncle Clemens were restricted. Perhaps Lu Xinghe wouldn’t care about these formalities, but his Uncle Clemens and Aunt Lu Qing were probably heartbroken and helpless.
He turned around, placing his arms gently on Lu Xinghe’s shoulders, his palm covering the back of his head, guiding him down. He then tilted his head up and kissed him.
“Star, I can support you.”
As a child, when they were separated, he once promised to buy Lu Xinghe an airplane. He could certainly do that now.
Lu Xinghe met the look of pure concern in the omega’s eyes and laughed coaxingly. “Yes, you are my rich sugar baby.”
Duan Yuluo was even more frustrated that he could still laugh. “I don’t think you care at all.” He started to lower his hands from his shoulders.
“I do! I care very much.”
“I can’t see where you’re upset. In fact, you look quite happy.”
“Of course, I’m sad.” Seeing Duan Yuluo try to move away, Lu Xinghe wrapped his arm around his waist, pinning him against the floor-to-ceiling window, his hand dropping to his side and intertwining with the omega’s fingers. “How about we go surfing this afternoon?”
Duan Yuluo: “…”
Sad?
I don’t see it.
Since it was a rare day off, if the Alpha wanted to surf, then let him surf.
A Perfect Day for Surfing
Clear skies, bright sunshine, and crashing waves.
It was a perfect surfing day.
Larkvis Bay coastline, known for having the most beautiful sunset view, boasts white, fine sand and long, powerful waves. With many natural bays, it is a paradise for surfers.
Amidst the surging waves, two figures split the curling, washing curtain of water, riding the boards. The momentum of the waves was skillfully controlled beneath the boards, splashing water as they skimmed the surface along the wave crest.
“Baby, turn!”
At that moment, the wave height reached over six meters—a challenging height that requires strong balance and skill to use the wave’s power to accelerate. The two instantly adjusted their posture, riding straight down with the force of the strong wave.
This excited the tourists on the shore, who cheered and shouted.
The rush of exhilarating joy peaked at that moment, as if all the frustration and annoyance of the past few days instantly vanished.
Finally, as the waves flattened near the shore, the two hugged their boards and swam back to the beach.
“…I’m exhausted.”
Duan Yuluo lay sprawled out on the beach, too tired to move. His chest rose and fell as he closed his eyes and gasped for breath. Perhaps it had been too long since he last surfed, and having differentiated into an Omega, his stamina was a stark contrast to the Alpha beside him, who seemed to have boundless energy.
“Do you need mouth-to-mouth, baby?” Lu Xinghe sat beside him with one knee slightly bent, smiling, his hand gently patting his chest.
Duan Yuluo opened his eyes. Lu Xinghe, sitting beside him, was backlit, seemingly enveloped by the clear blue sky overhead. He was smiling brilliantly, even more dazzling than the sunlight. Duan Yuluo couldn’t help but close his eyes, finding it a little too bright.
His Alpha didn’t seem as down as he’d imagined. He recalled how Lu Xinghe had been able to anticipate the direction of the waves and warn him to turn. It seemed nothing could truly defeat him.
After a moment, he felt a hand shield his eyes.
“Baby, are you hungry?”
He opened his eyes and saw Lu Xinghe leaning down to cover his eyes with both hands. Their gazes met. Duan Yuluo blinked. “Which kind of hungry are we talking about?”
Lu Xinghe met the guy’s innocent gaze, his lips twitching into a smile. He couldn’t help but look away and laugh out loud.
“Belly hungry?” Duan Yuluo dragged his water-logged, heavy body up, leaning forward onto Lu Xinghe’s lap. His hand touched his firm abs as he looked up and asked.
Lu Xinghe glanced at the tourists nearby, grabbed the wandering hand, and pulled him into his arms. “Alright, we’re outside.”
“Oh, so you can be shy,” Duan Yuluo said, trying to pull away and stand up.
Lu Xinghe simply picked him up with one arm, slinging him over his shoulder, and grabbed both surfboards with the other hand, heading toward the changing rooms.
Duan Yuluo was caught off guard by being carried like this. He let out an undignified grunt of annoyance and angrily slapped Lu Xinghe’s butt, only for his hand to hurt because it was so firm.
After a whole afternoon of play, he finally felt utterly refreshed.
Unconditional Support
The couple ate dinner at a nearby Western restaurant, ordering a table full of food.
“Star, I’ve never had this flavor of strawberry cake. Can I try some?”
“You can’t eat any flavor of cake, so of course you haven’t. You can’t try it.”
“…Oh.” Duan Yuluo held his fork, his brows drooping in disappointment. He looked pleadingly at Lu Xinghe, who was ordering. “Then what’s for dessert?”
“I ordered you a strawberry mousse,” Lu Xinghe said, handing the menu to the waiter and reminding him not to add eggs to the mousse. After thanking the waiter, he noticed how hungry he looked. “That’s why I told you to eat more at lunch, but you wouldn’t.”
“Not everyone eats as much as you. My serving was normal.”
“No, I remember your sister ate more than you back home.”
Duan Yuluo gave him a cool look.
Lu Xinghe held up both hands in surrender, coaxing him. “My mistake. Your serving is perfectly normal.”
Only then did Duan Yuluo turn back to his water.
Lu Xinghe raised an eyebrow, smiling as he accepted the other man’s adorable little temper. He clasped his hands and rested his chin on them, gazing at Duan Yuluo across the table. “Baby, now that I no longer have my family’s support, and my grandmother has restricted contact with my parents, what would you like me to do?”
“You should do whatever you want. Don’t ask me,” Duan Yuluo said, watching the strawberry mousse being served, his eyes following it. “I’ll support you no matter what.”
“I’m trying to figure out what I need to do now to achieve my current standard of living. Everything before was created by my parents. Without them, I need to start from scratch.”
Duan Yuluo scooped a large bite of the mousse and offered it to Lu Xinghe. “Try some. Is it sweet?”
Lu Xinghe leaned down and took a bite. The strawberry flavor was rich; it was definitely a flavor Duan Yuluo would like. “Mmm, it’s very sweet. It’s a flavor you’ll enjoy.”
“If I wasn’t here, would you have ordered this strawberry mousse?”
Lu Xinghe paused in thought, then lowered his eyes and smiled. “I would.”
“Star, in my heart, you have always been an incredibly strong person. Since we were little, I felt like there was nothing you couldn’t do. You taught me so many things—skateboarding, swimming, fencing, surfing, and more. Even during our CTB competitions, you were our best translator and strategist. I haven’t said exactly when I fell for you, because I know my eyes have been focused on you since childhood and never once shifted away.”
Lu Xinghe was slightly stunned.
They were seated by the window, which offered a beautiful view of the romantic sunset meeting the ocean waves. The light of the setting sun fell on Duan Yuluo’s hand, and elegant, soothing music played in the restaurant.
“Amidst countless choices, you have always made the decisions that you believed were valuable and meaningful. You thoughtfully decided to renounce the privileges and honor of the Royal Family. I don’t believe I am the source that made you give up everything; you firmly desired that freedom yourself, and I was the motivation for you to do it.”
“Even the hotel scandal—you didn’t think it was a good idea, you called it a terrible one—but you believed it would achieve your objective of balancing the interests of our families, and you chose to sacrifice a little of yourself.”
Duan Yuluo finished the mousse in the cup, set it down, and placed his arms on the table, looking earnestly at Lu Xinghe. “So, I believe in you. As long as you set your mind to it, there’s nothing you can’t achieve. You are invincible in my heart.”
Lu Xinghe was a little surprised. He was a sentimental person, and hearing his lover say such things, coupled with his unconditional support, made it impossible not to be moved. He lowered his head and wiped his face.
“Star, it’s okay to fail. I will always stand by you and support you. You can have anything you want.” Duan Yuluo was also worried he might be sad and unwilling to tell him, so he held his hand and encouraged him. “You can boldly start your own business. I can be your biggest shareholder.”
Lu Xinghe thought, How can I let my wife be my shareholder?
But his heart swelled with happiness that his wife was comforting him.
He wiped his face, looked up, and smiled into Duan Yuluo’s worried eyes, saying sincerely, “I want a little baby, the twin kind. That’s all I want.”
Duan Yuluo silently withdrew his hand. “…”
I’m done talking.
The Last Penny
Night descended, the streetlights outside the small villa flickered on, and the automated sprinklers began watering the garden plants.
The sound of frantic typing echoed from the study.
Lu Xinghe sat at the desk, the light from multiple screens casting an outline on his side profile, highlighting his sharp features. He wore gold-rimmed glasses, lending him a cool, detached air that made him look like a cultured villain.
Yet, this cultured villain was a lovesick fool, currently busy writing a love letter (a small essay).
He typed away. The page on the left screen was the most popular social platform in D Country. He was diligently writing the history of his and Duan Yuluo’s love, including pictures of their recent outing that he had hired someone to take.
First, he had to lay the groundwork for the previous scandal. As for exposing the identity of the ‘woman’ who had been by his side, he had to seek Duan Yuluo’s permission first, or his love would get angry.
Then he wrote a touching account of their love, from childhood to university, with multiple translated versions, intending to post one domestically as well.
After finishing that, he switched to another computer to work on a new program. He was currently collaborating with his mentor to develop a new network security system, aiming for a system even more advanced than the current global top-tier one.
He had been working on it for nearly four years, starting from his freshman year.
“Star, aren’t you going to sleep yet?”
Lu Xinghe stopped typing, looked up at the sound, and saw Duan Yuluo drying his hair after a shower. “I’ll be there in a moment.”
Duan Yuluo walked over, draped the towel over his shoulder, and leaned over, resting his hands on the edge of the desk. His gaze fell on the screen, seeing code that was beyond his scope of knowledge. “What is this?”
Lu Xinghe inhaled the scent of shower gel and the Omega pheromone of roses. His heart stirred. He pulled the man onto his lap, resting his chin on his shoulder. “Baby, I want to be your full-time husband. I’ll do your laundry, cook for you, and give you leg massages.”
Duan Yuluo: “…” He gave Lu Xinghe a skeptical look. This guy hadn’t been so devastated that he was losing all ambition, had he?
He raised his hand, pushed the head away, and stood up, walking toward the bedroom. “If all else fails, you can come to my company. I’ll arrange a position for you.”
Lu Xinghe leaned back in the chair, lingering on the scent left on his lap. He smiled as he watched Duan Yuluo walk away. “Then I want to be your secretary, to take care of you personally.”
“You should go to the Public Relations department. Being a secretary is beneath your talents.”
Lu Xinghe saw that Duan Yuluo had already returned to the room. He intended to shut down the computer after testing the data one last time. Just then, his phone on the desk vibrated, and a message popped up.
Account *7789 deposited 999,999,999.999 yuan at 23:50 on July 17th.
Bank deposits cannot exceed one billion yuan.
Soon, a message arrived from his mentor, including a red envelope.
He opened it. The red envelope contained one cent (0.01 yuan).
Adding that to the previous deposit, it totaled exactly one billion yuan.
Mentor: Xinghe, I’ve already sold your system for you. 1 billion. I transferred the last penny to you in the red envelope.
