Chapter 64: A Little Separation is Like a New Marriage
Yun Qingwu did not know how long he had been standing under the tree.
Until the sound of the door opening rang out, and Leng Lici’s blunt words broke the silence: “What, are you planning to stand here all night?”
Yun Qingwu looked up at the person standing in the center of the light, momentarily speechless.
Seeing that Yun Qingwu still had no intention of moving, Leng Lici walked forward impatiently. He grabbed Yun Qingwu’s hand, intending to lead him inside, but when he touched Yun Qingwu’s skin, he noticed the temperature was several degrees colder than usual.
He paused, turned back to look closely at Yun Qingwu, and frowned slightly: “You know?”
Yun Qingwu nodded, forcing a smile: “When did you know? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Come.”
Leng Lici led Yun Qingwu into Li Palace without further explanation, and the door was completely shut.
“What good would telling you do?”
Leng Lici released his hand and turned sideways, saying: “This Lord has no interest in your position as Sovereign. If this Lord wanted it, I would not rest until I got it.”
Yun Qingwu didn’t doubt this, but…
“But your family—”
“Family? This Lord does not need those family members. And what do you think you are? We are both nothing more than one abandoned piece and one chess piece.” Leng Lici turned his head to stare into the blue eyes.
“Since that is the case, you owe me nothing, and I naturally owe you nothing.”
The words were quite cold, but spot-on. This bluntness, falling upon Yun Qingwu’s complicated heart, had a strangely calming effect. He stepped forward and tightly embraced Leng Lici: “A’Ci, I’m sorry.”
Leng Lici’s tone was displeased: “Do you not understand plain language?”
Yun Qingwu hugged him even tighter: “Then… thank you.”
Only then did Leng Lici reluctantly raise his arms and return the hug, giving a cold snort: “Thank you for what? What else can you do besides apologize and thank people?”
Yun Qingwu turned his head and buried it in Leng Lici’s neck. He remained silent for a long time. After a deep breath, he chuckled softly: “I can do much more.”
He transformed all his emotions into a shower of light, close kisses, which crept up Leng Lici’s neck to his Adam’s apple: “A little separation is better than a new marriage. Do you want to try it?”
Leng Lici didn’t answer. His neck was involuntarily tilted back, making him feel uncomfortable. He struggled and bit back fiercely at the troublemaker’s lips.
As their tongues wrestled, they were instantly on the bed.
Yun Qingwu followed the force pushing him backward onto the bed, reaching out to undo Leng Lici’s sash.
Leng Lici simultaneously reached out to remove the annoying obstacles on Yun Qingwu’s body. However, the clothing Yun Qingwu wore back from the Heavenly Realm was more complicated than usual. He fumbled for a long time, but the clothes remained tightly covering them both.
He finally lost his patience. With a flick of two fingers, all the bothersome fabric on their bodies was summarily tossed onto the floor.
“The Demon Lord really is impatient.”
Yun Qingwu smiled, actively reaching out to pull the red fox tail that had emerged behind Leng Lici to the front. He touched the tip of the tail with his lips, kissing it while keeping his eyes fixed on the person above him.
The combination of physiological and visual stimulation made Leng Lici’s eyes darken. His vertical pupils appeared, and he lowered his head to bite Yun Qingwu’s neck.
Yun Qingwu muffled a groan, but his body cooperated perfectly, arching to meet him.
He guided the other half-black, half-red furry fox tail to wrap around his waist, and freed a hand to grab Leng Lici’s right hand, leading it to a certain place.
This overly proactive move, however, drew Leng Lici’s attention. He stopped biting, raised his head slightly, and frowned at the person beneath him.
Yun Qingwu’s eyes held the familiar yearning, but Leng Lici still felt a trace of something else hidden within that yearning.
He was intentionally trying to please him.
“What’s wrong?” Yun Qingwu looked confused.
Leng Lici released Yun Qingwu, rolled over to the side, and looked slightly more serious: “You take the lead.”
Then I’m specifically not going to do what he wants.
Yun Qingwu was momentarily stunned. He leaned in, his white hair falling onto Leng Lici as if covering him with snow. He chuckled: “The sun didn’t rise in the west today. Don’t you like being on top? Today is your turn.”
Leng Lici remained still, his tone impatient: “Stop talking nonsense.”
Yun Qingwu knew that Leng Lici had sensed his intentions. He sighed softly and embraced him: “I really am fine, A’Ci.”
“A little separation is like a new marriage. You said it.”
Leng Lici remained stubbornly motionless, his voice laced with icicles.
Yun Qingwu looked at Leng Lici, feeling both touched and helpless. He knew that when Leng Lici dug his heels in, he was relentless. He stopped making excuses, lowered his head, and gently kissed the eyes that spelled no retreat.
Then the nose, the lips, and everything else within sight.
His background, family, and identity were all fake, but at least his A’Ci was real. They belonged to each other; they still had each other.
The candlelight burned out amidst sounds that were both restrained and heart-pounding. Birdsong cut through the darkness. The sky was beginning to lighten.
“Keep going!”
Even though his fingers were so tired he could barely lift them, Leng Lici refused to admit defeat. The more his body gave out, the more he refused to let himself stop.
Yun Qingwu struggled to steady his breathing and control the rhythm, forcibly pulling down his lover who insisted on being on top but looked ready to collapse at any moment. He used all his limbs to restrain Leng Lici in his arms.
He gasped: “I’m the one who can’t continue. You rest now.”
At this, the person who had been struggling for another round finally quieted down.
On the pillow, red hair and white hair were intimately entwined, and their owners also nestled against each other.
Yun Qingwu’s right hand stroked Leng Lici’s back. Thinking of what his grandmother had said, his face showed distress: “The divine lineage being stripped away—that must have hurt terribly, right?”
“I was too young to know,” Leng Lici said carelessly.
Yun Qingwu lowered his head and kissed the red hair. Thinking of something, he chuckled: “The spiritual senses of the same gender are often repulsive, yet ours are so perfectly matched. Perhaps it’s because my body always holds a part of yours.”
Leng Lici felt a sense of pride upon reflecting on the sequence of events: “Those gods in the Heavenly Realm thought they were perfect, but they never realized that from that moment on, you were destined to be eternally entangled with me.”
“Mm.”
Yun Qingwu felt a little melancholic but also somewhat lucky: “You’re right. We were destined to meet.”
They embraced in silence for a while. Yun Qingwu remembered another matter they needed to discuss. He carefully began: “Father God… is missing a period of memory. I think it must be related to your mother.”
“This Lord has no parents,” Leng Lici said coldly.
Yun Qingwu gently stroked Leng Lici’s hair, thinking of his father’s usual demeanor: “I think perhaps things are not as you believe. In my time with Father God, he isn’t the type of person who would casually abandon his wife and child.”
“Hmph, what does that have to do with me?” Leng Lici was stubborn and unyielding.
Yun Qingwu: “Don’t you want to know the truth?”
Leng Lici looked up at Yun Qingwu: “What exactly are you trying to say?”
“Aunt—Sovereign Yun Shan said that to rescue Father God and wake him up, we need to go to the mortal realm to find the people transformed from those memory fragments and bring them back to the Heavenly Realm.”
“You want to go search?”
Leng Lici propped himself up slightly, tapped Yun Qingwu’s left cheek with his finger, and scoffed: “You certainly know how to repay evil with kindness.”
Yun Qingwu caught his finger, holding it in his palm, and lowered his gaze: “I also have selfish reasons. I want to know my own background, and I don’t want you to be left with unexplained regrets.”
He lowered his head and rubbed against Leng Lici’s neck: “A’Ci, let’s go together, okay?”
Leng Lici’s neck was stiff, his lips tightly sealed, his expression conflicted.
After a long while, he tilted his head and insisted curtly: “Go if you want to go, but this Lord is not doing it to save Yun Chuan.”
Yun Qingwu rubbed his neck again, understanding the implied meaning. He gave a low laugh: “Mm, my A’Ci is definitely the best to me!”
Leng Lici bit Yun Qingwu’s horn on his forehead and gave a “Tch”: “Whose are you?”
The tingling sensation on his horn made Yun Qingwu tremble. He went along with it: “Then I belong to you.”
Leng Lici lowered his head and bit Yun Qingwu’s lip. The kiss started intense, then softened. They kissed for a while. Yun Qingwu tightened his arms and nestled into Leng Lici’s embrace: “It’s still early. Let’s sleep some more.”
Leng Lici grumbled and adjusted his posture to make Yun Qingwu more comfortable.
The moonlight spilled through the window, coating them in a layer of silver light. The silver light soon turned warm under the rising sun.
Leng Lici stared at Yun Qingwu’s sleeping face, then gradually closed his eyes.
…
They woke up again at noon.
They were woken by a sudden commotion.
“Daddy!”
“Baba!”
“I want Daddy!”
“Oh dear, Xiao Dao, your two Daddies are still sleeping. We’ll come back later!”
“No! I don’t want to!” Xiao Dao sat on the steps, cheeks puffed out: “I will, sit, and wait!”
Inside the house, Leng Lici woke up first. Yun Qingwu’s beast ears drooped down, completely blocking the sound from entering. He flipped over and sprawled on the bed, his eyes still closed.
Leng Lici patted Yun Qingwu’s back with his tail and said with amusement: “Look, your daughter is calling for you.”
Yun Qingwu reluctantly peeled half his face out from under the pillow and opened his eyes. He looked at Leng Lici, who was leaning against the headboard without any clothes on, his vision filled with the marks left from last night. The tips of his ears turned red, and a belated arousal stirred in his heart, though he didn’t show it verbally: “How about the Demon Lord helps me wake up?”
Leng Lici didn’t reply, just stared intently at the person lounging in bed and still trying to flirt. His eyes darkened.
Yun Qingwu found Leng Lici’s expression quite pleasant and was about to tease him a bit more, but before he could speak, he was firmly kissed by the person who suddenly pressed down on him.
By the time his mouth was completely filled with Leng Lici’s taste, the last traces of sleepiness had finally vanished.
“When we go to the mortal realm, why don’t we take Xiao Dao with us?”
Before things went too far, Yun Qingwu withdrew at the right moment and steered the conversation back to business.
Leng Lici was quite reluctant. He licked his lips and simply said: “As you wish.”
It was another hour later before the door of Li Palace opened and Xiao Dao was able to see her two Daddies.
Yun Qingwu stroked his daughter’s head and chuckled: “She has grown a bit taller again, and her hair is much longer. If she keeps growing at this rate, perhaps she will be a grown young lady by the time we return.”
Xiao Dao happily jumped on the spot: “Grown young lady!”
Leng Lici gave a “Tch”: “Once her inner core stabilizes, she will return to a normal growth rate.”
Yun Qingwu drew out his ‘Oh’ and leaned closer, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear: “That’s a relief. Otherwise, we would have to restrain ourselves quite a bit.”
Leng Lici’s ears felt hot. He shot Yun Qingwu a sideways glance, his tone carrying a hint of sarcasm: “The things in the Sovereign’s head are truly the opposite color of his hair.”
Yun Qingwu understood. Leng Lici was still harboring yesterday’s sense of competition. He picked up Xiao Dao, placed her on his shoulders, and walked out the door first, saying meaningfully: “Demon Lord, please maintain your purity.”
Leng Lici: “…”
Purity?
What use is that?
He snorted and followed them out.
