The Yandere Queen's Manual for Training Her Wife - Chapter 64
That day, Xia Mingtang only stayed alone in her office for two hours before driving back to the Xijing Villa.
In fact, this was the earliest she had returned home since getting married.
Previously, Qin Yan had set a rule that she must be home by 6:30, but Xia Mingtang always arrived ten minutes early.
This time, when Xia Mingtang arrived, Qin Yan had not yet returned.
So she had time to quietly observe every corner of the villa.
The villa had been built for some years, but its interior had been recently renovated.
Many of the items were purchased together by her and Qin Yan before the wedding.
At that time, although she outwardly complained about Qin Yan’s clinginess and fussiness, deep down she still felt a bit of curiosity and anticipation.
For Xia Mingtang, marriage had always been a bothersome restriction on freedom. Yet because her partner was Boss Qin, her resistance to it was slightly less.
After all, they had some acquaintance back in Yunzhen, and in fact, she owed others an apology first.
She thought that if she had no choice but to marry someone, at least Qin Yan was far better than someone like Ji Xianglan, whom she barely knew.
Later on… they could at least part amicably.
It was only today that she realized she had been living inside Qin Yan’s scheme from the very beginning.
This marriage… could have been avoided.
After several days of interacting, she finally realized one thing:
When your spouse is Qin Yan, this marriage could very well become the hardest one in the world to leave.
Xia Mingtang felt uneasy. She did not like feeling controlled by someone.
Walking through the yard, her fingers unconsciously pinched a branch of the begonia. With slight force, she snapped a flower off.
Aunt Lin, passing by, wanted to say that this was Qin Misters’ favorite flower, but seeing Xia Mingtang’s expression, she held her tongue.
Xia Mingtang sat on the swing in the yard, letting the breeze clear her mind.
She checked her phone and saw the emails. At the company, she had sent five emails in total and had received one reply.
She read it word by word. The matter was more complicated than she had imagined.
After a moment of thought, she began typing a reply, slowly, almost typing a line and pausing to think.
Almost at the same moment as she sent her message, she saw a figure approaching, looking slightly winded.
Xia Mingtang kept a cold expression and didn’t speak, appearing still upset about last night.
Qin Yan, without even taking off her coat, walked over to the swing and gently pushed it.
“Why did Tangtang come home so early today? So obedient.”
For some reason, the word “obedient” sounded extremely grating to Xia Mingtang, and she immediately retorted:
“You came back pretty early too, didn’t you? Very obedient as well.”
She tried to sound sharp and biting, but Qin Yan seemed to enjoy it. With one hand, she tucked a strand of hair behind Xia Mingtang’s ear, coaxing her softly:
“Then if I’m this obedient, will Tangtang stop being angry?”
Xia Mingtang glanced at her and snorted heavily through her nose. How could she not be angry? She hadn’t hit her only because she had self-restraint! Well, mostly because she couldn’t win…
Xia Mingtang didn’t want to speak, so Qin Yan made conversation herself.
“Actually, I rushed home today because of something very important.”
Xia Mingtang merely gave her a sidelong glance, and Qin Yan continued:
“In a few days, it will be Tangtang’s birthday. How do you plan to celebrate it?”
Xia Mingtang’s mind was full of the 51% issue, leaving no energy for a birthday. She replied perfunctorily:
“However I usually do. I’ll invite a few friends to keep me company. You focus on your work; no need to worry.”
Qin Yan didn’t agree. She steadied the swing, walked over, and locked eyes with Xia Mingtang.
“This is your zodiac-year birthday. It can’t be treated so carelessly.”
Xia Mingtang met her gaze for barely a second before feeling the intense possessiveness burning through those eyes.
She had been slow to realize it, but now she finally understood: Qin Yan was far from easygoing.
She turned her head and averted her gaze. “Fine, as you wish.”
“Good, I’ll arrange it then.” Qin Yan smiled warmly, her palm brushing against Xia Mingtang’s soft hair.
She paused for a few seconds, then seemed to remember something:
“I had a gift I planned to give on your birthday, but I thought the celebration would be too lively, and I might not have a chance to hand it over properly. So, I’ll give it to you now.”
Xia Mingtang had no interest in gifts, but she knew that refusing would only make Qin Yan linger and plead. She asked distractedly:
“Oh? What gift?”
“Wait here.” Qin Yan steadied the swing and went upstairs.
Within ten minutes, she returned holding a leather document folder.
Xia Mingtang watched as Qin Yan opened it and handed her a stack of papers.
She obediently flipped through them, and upon seeing the contents, her earlier calm vanished.
“Shares… of Ji Shi Guodai?”
Qin Yan nodded and smiled. “Originally, I acquired this company to target the Ji family. Later, I found you were interested, so consider it a gift for you as well.”
Xia Mingtang’s gaze alternated between Qin Yan and the documents, her expression unreadable.
She held the documents in silence for a few seconds before asking, “Do you know why I wanted to acquire Ji Shi Guodai?”
“No, but as long as it’s what you like, I’ll give it to you,” Qin Yan answered decisively, her face full of sincerity.
Xia Mingtang looked up, trying to read her expression, but realized she could not see through her at all.
“You’d really give me anything I like?”
“Of course.”
Xia Mingtang accepted this special “birthday gift.”
Regardless of how much of Qin Yan’s words were true, having control over Ji Shi Guodai was advantageous and harmless for her.
That evening, after showering, Xia Mingtang sat on the bed holding Mimi, telling “bedtime stories for cats.”
Because of the separate rooms, Qin Yan had lost the privilege of telling stories to Mimi.
Having been away all day and night, she now, out of compensatory instinct, told three stories in a row, successfully lulling Mimi to sleep.
She placed Mimi in the cat bed at the foot of the bed and was about to lie down when she heard a knock.
Opening the door, she saw Qin Yan wearing an ultra-short pearl-white silk camisole nightdress. Her jade-like skin glowed under the indoor lighting.
Her raven hair, freshly washed, was wrapped in a towel, but damp strands clung slightly, revealing a faint glimpse of her curves.
Xia Mingtang felt her nose itch and quickly grabbed a tissue to cover it, sneezing.
But in early spring, was it really necessary to dress lighter than in summer?
Post-makeup, Qin Yan looked gentle and harmless, her smile carrying a hint of delicate softness.
“Tangtang, the hair dryer in my room is broken. Can I borrow yours?”
Xia Mingtang thought: …Since when did the house become so lacking that even a spare hair dryer is gone?
Qin Yan was seducing her.
Xia Mingtang was certain of it.
Yet, inexplicably, she did not send her away, instead squatting by the cat bed, pretending to focus on petting Mimi.
“Suit yourself.”
Qin Yan obeyed and took the hair dryer, but instead of leaving, she sat on the sofa and started drying her hair.
The villa’s second floor was very quiet at night. The hum of the hair dryer became the main background sound.
The sofa and cat bed were close together; the scent of shampoo mixed with calendula, filling Xia Mingtang’s nose and making it itch even more.
In less than ten minutes, she had gone through several tissues.
Mimi rolled over, tail wrapping around her wrist.
Unable to bear it, she got up angrily.
“Can’t you just—”
Go dry your hair in your own room?
She swallowed the last words.
Qin Yan turned off the hair dryer just then. Her raven hair was smooth, and she smiled at Xia Mingtang. The silk fabric of her nightdress clung lightly to her skin.
Xia Mingtang: !
Why was her nose itching even more now?
It was all because Qin Yan sat so close, making the room hot!
She turned her head to avoid looking, and said stiffly, with some reluctant admission: “Finished drying your hair? Then go. I’m going to sleep.”
Qin Yan stood, took her hand, and handed back the hair dryer.
She didn’t say a word, but her breath, mixed with the scent of calendula, brushed Xia Mingtang’s ear, causing a faint ringing.
The silk nightdress clung to delicate arms, carrying warmth.
Xia Mingtang felt an unfamiliar surge of desire, but her rationality still held.
She took the hair dryer and stepped back, speaking with sternness: “Enough. Don’t try to seduce me like this!”
Qin Yan looked at her, eyes sparkling, smiling widely.
“I just wanted to return the hair dryer. Did Tangtang feel seduced?”
Xia Mingtang: I knew it! This sly woman is wicked!
She wanted to say something sharp but froze upon seeing Qin Yan’s alluring figure for the first time.
The Boss Qin she remembered was always dominant during intimacy, yet now she lowered herself to seduce.
Since Qin Yan was determined to provoke…
Xia Mingtang decided to respond in kind. She set down the hair dryer, grabbed the two thin straps of Qin Yan’s camisole, and growled:
“Since you insist on provoking me, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
Qin Yan blinked her watery eyes, waiting to see what Xia Mingtang would do.
Xia Mingtang felt challenged and tugged harder, accidentally kicking the nearby cat bed.
“Meow~”
Sleeping Mimi opened her eyes in confusion at the tense scene.
Xia Mingtang’s rising anger was interrupted by the meow.
She let go of Qin Yan and turned to soothe Mimi.
Qin Yan, however, stepped forward first, grabbed Mimi by the scruff, and carried her off.
Before Xia Mingtang could stop her, Qin Yan held the ten-plus-pound chubby cat and went next door.
Xia Mingtang watched helplessly as this woman, so alluring, barged in and “kidnapped” her cat.
She didn’t know how to react.
Five minutes later, Qin Yan, dressed provocatively, knocked on her door again. Her clear voice now carried a hint of seduction.
“Mimi is safely taken care of. Now, you may continue being ‘rude’ to me.”
