- Chapter 62 - A Person Cannot Fall Into the Same Pit Five, Six, Seven, Eight, or Ninety Times!
When Xia Mingtang woke up, her mind was still fuzzy, and she felt completely bewildered.
When she spoke, her voice even changed tone.
“Mm… you’re humming… what are you—ah!”
Sensing something was off with herself, Xia Mengtang reacted before she could think, and the tears came out even stronger.
Seeing this, Qin Yan didn’t dare do anything reckless and quickly removed the little butterfly, holding her in her arms and soothing her.
“I didn’t do anything, I was just… giving you a massage.”
Her words carried a hint of guilt.
Xia Mingtang, held in her arms and calmed for several seconds, slowly regained her bearings.
Without the numb, fragile sensation caused by the electric shocks, she once again felt the strong pain from being thoroughly tormented.
The sleeping bag was still getting wetter.
This person had actually taken advantage of her while she was asleep…
Xia Mengtang’s throat trembled with anger as she cried and scolded.
“You, Qin beast! You didn’t… keep your word! Hic! You promised… promised you wouldn’t do this!”
She cried so pitifully, and the movements of her chest were intense.
Qin Yan quickly reached out, fastening the buttons she had just undone one by one.
She feared that if she lost control, Xia Mengtang would cry even more.
She realized she had indeed gone a bit too far and should restrain herself more.
So at this moment, no matter how many “Qin beast, bastard, pervert” words the little fox hurled at her, she simply held her and gently soothed her.
“It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have woken you, Tangtang.”
“Don’t touch me again!”
Xia Mengtang struggled, accidentally tugging at the area beneath her.
“Ouch!”
Qin Yan, hearing this, quickly turned on the tent light.
Looking down, she saw some swelling.
And what else she saw in such a mess was Xia Mingtang herself.
Not caring that she was still bare-legged, Qin Yan angrily kicked herself out of the sleeping bag.
As a result, Xia Mingtang accidentally hurt herself more due to the tug, tears soaking her little face.
She wanted to scold Qin Yan fiercely but realized she had already exhausted all the words the night before.
Seeing this, Qin Yan also felt heartache and guilt for her thoughtlessness.
She had long known the little fox was fragile, yet still underestimated how delicate her body truly was.
She hurriedly covered her legs with a small blanket, afraid she’d get angrier if she saw more.
“Wait a moment, I’ll be right back.”
Qin Yan left the tent, and Xia Mengtang wished she would just not come back, intending to shut the tent entrance herself.
She tried to stand up, but her legs were too weak and hurt too much in the middle.
Before she could rise, she fell back onto her butt.
Her hand pressed to the side, just touching that mischievous little pink butterfly.
Qin Yan had left in such a hurry that she hadn’t even turned it off.
The butterfly’s wings were soaked but still flapped vigorously.
Seeing the culprit, Xia Mingtang became furious and grabbed it with all her strength, smashing it against the back of the full-length mirror.
“Bang!” The sound was loud enough to be heard from a distance.
Qin Yan quickly brought a basin of hot water and found the medicinal ointment from the first aid kit, rushing into the tent.
Originally, she had prepared the ointment just in case, not expecting to need it so soon.
When she entered the tent, Xia Mingtang was still sitting on the sleeping bag, smashing things.
Nearby combs, pillows, and tissues—all within reach—were thrown toward the tent entrance.
Qin Yan lifted the door curtain, skillfully dodging the flying tissues.
Seeing the little fox so angry, she thought: If I had known, I wouldn’t have dodged.
Xia Mingtang saw her come in and fumbled for something beside the sleeping bag. This time, it was her phone.
She hesitated for two seconds but still put it down.
Qin Yan set the basin by the sleeping bag, wrung the towel, lifted the blanket, and went to clean the wounded area.
Xia Mingtang snatched the towel, backing up two steps in the sleeping bag, her voice both cute and fierce.
“Turn around!”
Seeing her anger hadn’t subsided, Qin Yan sighed internally.
She didn’t dare push her further, cooperating and turning around.
There were rustling noises as she adjusted herself in the sleeping bag, and the sound of wringing the towel.
After a few repetitions, things returned to calm.
Qin Yan looked back and saw Xia Mingtang retrieving her underwear, ready to put it on herself.
She looked at her without a word, brows furrowed in displeasure.
“Did I say you could turn back?”
Qin Yan knelt on one knee, leaning over the sleeping bag to check the area that was red and sore.
Xia Mingtang thought she might be trying something naughty again and pushed her away.
Qin Yan maintained her balance but pretended to stumble slightly.
She leaned over, gently coaxing: “Be good, we need to apply the ointment first. Otherwise, it’ll swell even more tomorrow.”
Xia Mingtang thought: !
And yet she had the nerve to say that—who caused all this?!
Although angry, Xia Mingtang didn’t want to hurt her own body, so she reached out: “Give me the ointment.”
But Qin Yan didn’t listen this time. She opened the ointment, held her legs apart, and explained:
“It’s already swollen inside. You can’t see it clearly. You won’t apply it properly yourself.”
The quick movement caught her off guard.
Xia Mingtang, reacting out of instinct, struggled, her voice even more tearful.
In this matter, Qin Yan couldn’t compromise, even though she was the one who caused the injury.
She held her legs and applied the ointment directly to the swollen areas.
The cold ointment brought a dull pain to the tender spot, making Xia Mingtang shiver.
She wanted to kick, but the power difference made resistance useless.
Fortunately, Qin Yan didn’t intend any mischief this time. She seemed to be apologizing silently, applying the ointment properly from start to finish.
Even so, her rough hands spread the cold ointment over the irritated area, causing the moisture to soak their fingers.
Both noticed the change immediately.
Xia Mingtang felt both embarrassed and angry.
All because that “Qin beast” had kept her awake in such a position last night, and now had to apply the ointment!
Qin Yan’s moment of shock was brief. She glanced at her little fox’s flushed face and continued applying the ointment as if nothing had happened.
The ointment absorbed into the skin, and Qin Yan picked up tissues from the tent entrance to clean the surrounding area.
At this point, Xia Mingtang considered herself a hopeless salted fish, just hoping it would be over soon.
Luckily, it didn’t take too long. Qin Yan wiped her hands, picked up the pants from the side of the sleeping bag, helped her put them on, and held her in comfort.
“Sleep now. It’ll be better tomorrow.”
The painful area was no longer as severe, but that didn’t mean Xia Mingtang wouldn’t be angry at being roused in such a manner in the middle of the night.
She tried to shift sideways in the sleeping bag, refusing to be held.
“The sleeping bag is all messed up. How can I sleep like this?” she complained, her voice nasal.
Qin Yan pressed the sleeping bag lightly—so wet, it was indeed hard to sleep.
She wrapped her arms around Xia Mingtang’s back, slipped one arm between her legs, and easily lifted her up.
Xia Mingtang tried to wrap her arms around Qin Yan’s neck but immediately withdrew.
Her temper was high, and she refused to cooperate: “Don’t hold me!”
Qin Yan already carried her out of the tent: “We’ll sleep in the car.”
The night wind was chilly, and Xia Mingtang shrank her neck.
Luckily, the car was only a few steps from the tent.
Qin Yan placed her on the car bed, gently kissed the small, fuzzy forehead: “Good night.”
“Hmph!” Xia Mingtang pulled the blanket over herself, turning away, refusing to acknowledge her.
Qin Yan tidied up the tent quickly. Returning, she found her little fox still maintaining her original back-turned posture.
Motionless, as if already asleep.
But she knew very well it was just a disguise; the slight trembling of the shoulders betrayed her.
The bed in the car was wide enough for both of them.
But…
Never mind. Tonight, having angered her little fox so much, it’s better to coax her tomorrow during the day.
Qin Yan looked at her for several seconds, sighed silently, and went to sleep on the sofa.
When Xia Mengtang woke up, it was raining outside.
The drizzle blurred the windows with water streaks.
After a night of rest, she had regained most of her strength.
Wearing slippers, she stood up, still slightly sore.
Compared to last night, it was much better.
She was alone in the car bedroom, which made her both relaxed and a little at a loss.
Anyone who is clear-headed and left alone on a mountaintop would feel somewhat helpless.
Fortunately, the car was sturdy enough to keep out any snakes or wild animals.
She went to the bathroom to freshen up and, upon returning, bumped into Qin Yan in the small kitchen, preparing breakfast.
Her long raven hair was tied up, wearing a white apron, looking extremely domestic and capable.
Xia Mingtang remembered seeing a similar scene back in Yunzhen.
Back then, Boss Qin was quite vain, sometimes even wearing a cheongsam to cook.
Since returning to Rong City, she hadn’t worn one much.
Xia Mingtang dismissed the chaotic thoughts. Seeing the tent outline outside, she immediately recalled the infuriating events from last night.
She shook her head violently to clear the memory: She wears whatever she likes—it’s none of my business!
She knew Qin Yan would try to coax her with food again, as always.
A person cannot fall into the same pit five, six, seven, eight, or ninety times!
What Qin Yan did last night was far too much and could not be forgiven easily.
Determined not to give in, Xia Mingtang opened the fridge and took out the bread she had intended for sandwiches.
Not wanting to encounter the person in the kitchen, she didn’t even heat it up.
She opened the package and began gnawing.
Cold, hard, and really awful!
