- Chapter 10 - The Softness Pressed Against My Body Rises
Xia Mingtang chuckled and reached out, grabbing her “star,” like a child with a beloved toy, unable to resist playing with it over and over.
Everyone at the table stared, dumbfounded, at the completely drunk young woman, who held Boss Qin’s face in her hands, kneading and squishing it as if it were clay.
Even more astonishingly, Boss Qin didn’t show any sign of anger. Instead, she was remarkably good-natured, helping the girl up from her stool and apologizing to the others.
“Sorry, I was late. I’ll take Xiao Hua back to her room first. Please, help yourselves.”
Was this some kind of old married couple vibe?
The drunken Xia wove a serpentine path, and Boss Qin had to constantly support her, the two of them looking like conjoined twins.
It’s a reasonable suspicion that if there weren’t so many pairs of eyes on them, Boss Qin would have simply picked her up.
On the stairs, Xia Mingtang, in a moment of drunken madness, decided to perform acrobatics.
Normally not very strong, she found a strange burst of energy in her drunkenness, broke free from Qin Yan’s support, ran up a few steps, spread her arms wide, and shouted, “Batman is here!”
Qin Yan broke out in a cold sweat at the sight of her poised to fall headfirst. She pulled the girl into her arms and carried her upstairs.
But Xia Mingtang was never one to be still. Even with her feet off the ground, it didn’t stop her from performing a series of moves in the air.
Even with Qin Yan’s skill, it was a struggle to get her back to the room.
Qin Yan dropped the girl onto the guest room sofa, just about to catch her breath, when the restless creature stood up and began “dancing the tango” on the floor.
Fearing she would fall, Qin Yan reached out to steady her, only to be grabbed by the little drunkard, who looked at her with a foolish grin and said, “Qin Yan”
“Hmm.”
Shameless, Qin Yan thought, remembering the way she had politely called her “jiejie” when she first arrived at the guesthouse. Looking at her now, with her true colors revealed by the alcohol, she decided it was best not to argue with a drunk.
Xia Mingtang stood unsteadily, holding onto Qin Yan’s arms and inching closer. Seeing the other’s somewhat cold expression, she inexplicably felt wronged.
She grabbed one of Qin Yan’s arms and brought it to her mouth, biting down hard. Before Qin Yan could say anything, the girl herself was deeply saddened and accused, “You… you didn’t keep your promise. You’re… a big liar!”
The words made no sense, but Qin Yan instantly understood the meaning.
She took out a tissue, wiped her arm clean, and apologized gently, “I’m sorry, something came up today, I didn’t mean to come back so late.”
She wondered what the point was of explaining this to a drunk.
Xia Mingtang seemed to understand. She blinked her eyes, then burst into a smile seconds later. “Did you put something on?”
Qin Yan: “Huh?”
“Otherwise, why are you always blingbling? It’s like you’re constantly glowing,” Xia Mingtang said, her hand moving in the air, fingers splayed, trying to convey the “blingbling” feeling.
Qin Yan assumed she was referencing a character from some animated show. She found the current Xia Xiao Hua incredibly cute and showed a rare amount of patience.
Xia Mingtang sniffed, burying her fox-cub-like nose in Qin Yan’s neck. She sniffed for a long time, then nodded in satisfaction. “Not only do you glow, but you also smell so good. This is… mine!”
Qin Yan, who had been watching with an amused detachment, suddenly felt a tickle on her neck from the plum wine-scented breath. The next second, she was encircled tightly by a pair of slender arms.
The room had been slightly cool in the evening, but the soft warmth pressed against her body was rising.
Qin Yan looked at the shameless creature rubbing against her. She unconsciously dug her middle fingernail into her palm, her expression frighteningly calm. “Do you know what you’re doing?”
“Yup,” Xia Mingtang, immersed in the joy of finally catching her glowing treasure, nodded her head like a pecking chicken.
One of her restless hands traced a path up Qin Yan’s chin, stopping at her cool lips and declaring, “Mine.”
Past the straight nose, “Mine.”
Finally, covering the fluttering eyelashes, “All mine!”
The drunk Xia, like a possessive owner, hugged her beautiful “property” even tighter. But having stood for too long, her legs gave out. She plopped back onto the sofa, dragging the nearby Qin Yan down with her.
The girl who had just taken a great tumble was very adaptable. She just adjusted her position on the sofa, and once she found a comfortable posture, she closed her eyes in contentment. Her pink lips occasionally smacked together, as if she were thinking of something wonderful.
All this time, the hands holding Qin Yan had never let go.
Qin Yan was in a very awkward position, lying on her side on the edge of the sofa. She looked at the woman who had started a fire and then fallen asleep, a dark light flickering in her eyes, as if to see right through her.
“From now on, don’t ever get so drunk again.”
The winter sun was not scorching but gentle.
Xia Mingtang groggily opened her eyes, looking at the very bright window. It took a while before she reluctantly climbed out of bed.
Her brain was still a little fuzzy from waking up. She undressed from her pajamas almost by muscle memory and went to the side of the bed to find the clothes she had planned to wear.
But she didn’t know who had tidied up for her. The outfit she had intentionally left by the bed yesterday morning was gone.
Xia Mingtang, naked, fumbled on the bed for a few seconds until she felt the edge of some clothing moving toward her.
This material? She remembered not owning any cheongsams.
Xia Mingtang looked up in a daze, her eyes meeting Qin Yan’s, who had appeared at some point. She slowly came to her senses.
She realized her current situation and thought about covering herself with the blanket, but after taking so long to react, it seemed a bit like a futile attempt.
So she simply straightened up, knelt on the bed, and faced this unexpected guest with composure.
Xia Mingtang had never lacked confidence. This confidence extended to her satisfaction with her intelligence, looks, and figure.
We’re both women, after all. A look isn’t going to hurt anything, she thought.
Xia Mingtang, a strange sense of competitiveness rising within her, even puffed out her chest a little, a hint of pride on her face.
So, Qin Yan saw a person who had stripped down to just her panties, with a messy head of long curly hair, staring back at her with great presence.
Qin Yan pursed her lips, shifting her gaze to the edge of the dressing mirror nearby. “Put on some clothes.”
Seeing Qin Yan’s averted gaze, Xia Mingtang felt even more smug. I really am excellent. Even Boss Qin feels self-conscious.
The room was not cold during the day, so she wasn’t in a hurry to find her clothes. She even had the leisure to kneel on the bed and chat with Qin Yan.
“Jiejie, did you put away my clothes for me?”
The sunlight scattered across the dressing mirror, twinkling on the snow-white skin reflected there.
Qin Yan couldn’t bear to look anymore. She turned to the wardrobe, took out the clean clothes she had put away last night. “Here, your clothes.”
Xia Mingtang took them, picking out a pink and white bra and leisurely putting it on.
Qin Yan listened for a while, then turned her head to look at Xia Mingtang, whose eyes were now clear. The girl was struggling to pull a creamy white turtleneck cashmere sweater over her head.
Xia Mingtang’s appearance was bright and vibrant. When she first came to the guesthouse, she dressed in flamboyant colors. But when she wore these light-colored clothes, her aura became somewhat soft and childlike.
She was like a little fox cub clumsily extending its little paw from within a fox den.
Xia Mingtang didn’t know that Qin Yan’s eyes were fixed on her. With her head still inside the sweater, she spoke in a muffled voice.
“Jiejie, why are you here? Did you bring me back last night?”
Memories of last night resurfaced in Qin Yan’s mind. She looked intently at Xia Mingtang, her thin lips parting slightly. “Do you remember what you did last night?”
“What did I do last night?” Xia Mingtang finally got her head out of the sweater, her face a picture of innocent confusion.
Qin Yan’s gaze lingered on Xia Mingtang’s face for a few seconds. This naive and innocent look, which she used to find endearing, now only seemed annoying.
Xia Mingtang saw that Qin Yan wasn’t saying anything. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say either, just honestly meeting the other’s gaze, her confusion genuine.
A palpable silence filled the air. After a while, a very cold smile appeared on Qin Yan’s lips. “Nothing.”
