- The Wicked Disciple Has Fallen Into Demonic Possession, And The Master Can No Longer Withstand It!
- Chapter 6 - Not Fond of Chicken Legs?
Recalling what Qi Yelan had just said, it was true; the man was actually studying how to sleep with him right in front of his face. Was there truly nothing else in Qi Yelan’s head?
Just then, the sound of the stone door moving came from behind. Yan Jue snapped back to reality and hurriedly put the item down. He did not even have time to roll the bamboo slips back up properly before he turned around and met Qi Yelan’s gaze. Qi Yelan was carrying a tray. Seeing the situation, he walked over quickly. Yan Jue stood dazed for a few seconds as Qi Yelan headed straight for him. Just as he was about to dodge, he was cornered by the bed.
Qi Yelan’s gaze fell on the open bamboo slips. Seeing Yan Jue’s flustered appearance, he suddenly leaned down. As the other man’s face approached until it was only inches away, Yan Jue instinctively leaned back. He was forced to the edge of the bed, and just then, his knees went weak, causing him to fall back onto the mattress.
“What, what are you doing?”
Yan Jue pressed his hands against his chest while looking at that cold face. Qi Yelan’s eyes flashed with a playful light, making Yan Jue feel as though his heart was about to jump out of his chest. He could not let him get any closer. Seeing there was no way to retreat further, his palm just brushed against Qi Yelan’s chest when the man suddenly stood up.
Qi Yelan was holding the bamboo slips that Yan Jue had tossed onto the bed. He looked down at him nonchalantly with a trace of a mocking smile at the corners of his mouth. “And here I thought you had changed your mind.”
With that, he walked to the table behind him and set down the tray. He rolled the bamboo slips back up, returned to the bedside to place them on the nightstand, and glanced at him. “Weren’t you hungry? Come and eat. You need the strength.”
Perhaps because of the bamboo slips, Yan Jue’s cheeks suddenly flushed crimson upon hearing those words. Feeling his face grow hot, Yan Jue quickly patted his cheeks while trying to cool the heat with his cold fingers. He grumbled inwardly about how sensitive this body was because it was far too embarrassing.
Despite his best efforts to hide it, his reaction did not escape Qi Yelan’s eyes. A faint, non-malicious smile curved Qi Yelan’s lips while his gaze softened. He found the person before him increasingly interesting.
Recalling the hundred years since he had descended to the mortal realm, he had been drowning in hatred. That hatred was like a heavy boulder pressing down on his chest while making him feel that sense of suffocation many times even in his dreams. It was not until this person appeared that he felt a long-awaited sense of relaxation. It seemed he was better suited to being with others after all.
Qi Yelan deliberately moved further away and sat down by the edge of the bed. Yan Jue rubbed his empty stomach and, after an internal struggle, walked to the table. He had recognized the scent earlier, and looking at it now, it was indeed the scallion oil noodles from the Tang family in the town at the foot of the mountain. Yan Jue instinctively swallowed his saliva while the familiar smell brought him a sense of peace.
When he was in the sect, he was often ostracized, so he would always go down the mountain to find food. This led to his habit of eating out, and he was particularly fond of these scallion oil noodles. The taste was undeniable, but most importantly, it was high quality and affordable at only five coins a bowl. Due to his low monthly allowance, he had become a regular customer there. He never expected to have the chance to eat them again after being kidnapped.
However, Qi Yelan was not stingy and had even added a chicken leg for him. This brought another question to mind: that affordable little shop was hidden in an alleyway, so how did Qi Yelan find it? Seeing his hesitant look, Qi Yelan spoke up. “What? Do you not like chicken legs?”
“No”
Yan Jue was about to say no but then he realized something was wrong. A chicken leg. Realizing something, he suddenly looked up at Qi Yelan and saw a meaningful smile on the man’s cold face.
“The chicken leg, you!”
Yan Jue’s expression froze for a full minute. During that minute, fine sweat never stopped forming on his forehead while dampening his hair and quickly turning cold. After a long while, he slowly asked, “Since when have you been watching me?”
A nonchalant smile flashed across Qi Yelan’s face. “Does that matter?”
“I”
Yan Jue clutched his head while feeling a bit confused now. Just how long had Qi Yelan been observing him, and what had he discovered? No wonder Qi Yelan knew at a glance that he had the Clear Jade Immortal Body; it should not be visible if he was not using his powers. It seemed there were traces to follow all along while Qi Yelan had been watching him for a long time.
But why had he never seen the man before? Sensing the abnormality in his expression, Qi Yelan said, “I am not that bored.”
In fact, Qi Yelan had indeed seen Wen Fuchen many times before this, but Wen Fuchen had never seen his face. Having grown accustomed to living as a human, he could not let himself immediately become a demon. Moreover, he rejected the identity of a demon from the bottom of his heart. He did not suck the essence of humans like other demons but still ate ordinary food; his earlier words were just to tease the boy.
When Qi Yelan first noticed this person, he felt he was the most human. In the current era where people were struggling to survive, only this person lived a carefree life while his fair and handsome face was always brimming with a comforting smile. If one ignored that familiar feeling in his eyes, it would be even more perfect. From then on, he would always run into this person and occasionally see him practicing medicine nearby.
He hid behind a bronze mask and worn-out black robes while quietly observing this interesting person from the shadows. This was the only thing that had piqued his interest over the years. Then, one day, he discovered that when this person used his powers, he actually possessed the Clear Jade Immortal Body he had been searching for.
This was undoubtedly the greatest gift from the heavens. He admitted he wanted to take this person for himself and use his body to purify his demonic root. He had wondered if he was being too despicable, so he had delayed taking action. That was until last night when he saw this person hurriedly fleeing down the mountain.
To him, that was a perfect opportunity. Even if he had not brought the person back, they would have soon been discovered by lurking demons or wild monsters in the mountains. Rather than letting those chaotic things take advantage, he would rather do it himself. At the very least, he would give this person a choice.
Yan Jue changed his sitting position so his back was to Qi Yelan and began to eat the noodles. Since coming here, he had rarely eaten meat. This chicken leg was one of the few good things he had eaten so far, but he was not in the mood to savor it now; he swallowed it down as quickly as the noodles.
Qi Yelan propped his hands on his knees and rested his chin slightly in his palm. Seeing him finish the bowl of noodles, he spoke with a bit of a teasing tone. “Are you not afraid I drugged it?”
Yan Jue had just swallowed the last bite of noodles. Hearing this, he stared blankly at the man while his brain worked rapidly for a moment before he calmed down. He had eaten these noodles for three years; he could tell if the taste or even the portion had changed slightly. The other man just wanted to see his reaction and see him panic.
He would not give him that satisfaction. Yan Jue shrugged. “The Demon Lord is speaking too late; I have already finished eating.”
Qi Yelan let out a snort while seemingly intrigued. “You do not believe me?”
