The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 29
Qin Huai descended the stairs and stopped in front of Shen Wen, her white shirt tucked into her trousers without a single wrinkle. She bowed to Shen Wen, neither humble nor arrogant, to express her apology, “Uncle, I’m sorry, but my advisor has called an emergency meeting, so I have to leave now.”
Shen Wen: “Can’t you spare even the time for a meal?”
Qin Huai pulled at her lips with a slight hint of apology, “I’m sorry.”
Seeing her firm attitude, Shen Wen guessed that the advisor truly had an urgent task to assign and didn’t press her to stay. He glanced at the Alpha seated on the single-seater sofa beside him and called out, “Shen Zhi, see the guest out.”
Shen Zhi stood up from the sofa, her lips tightly pursed, “Let’s go.”
“No need.” Qin Huai looked towards Shen Wen and declined, “You and Shen Zhi probably have a lot to talk about; there’s no need to see me out.”
Shen Zhi had barely come home this semester, and Shen Wen had a lot he wanted to chat with her about. However, this was also Qin Huai’s first visit, so the necessary courtesies had to be maintained. Shen Wen knew his daughter had always disdained these formalities. In previous years during the New Year’s afternoon, when it was time to send guests off, she would hide in her room early. Therefore, even now that she had stood up, Shen Zhi’s expression was still sullen.
Since his daughter was unwilling, the old father could only step in.
So Shen Wen held onto the sofa and stood up, just about to say: I’ll see you out.
Shen Zhi had already taken a step forward, her jawline taut and cold, “No need to bother, I’ll see her out.”
Outside the villa, a stream of water poured down from the top of the finely carved stone sculpture, creating ripples as it splashed into the circular pool. The chirping of birds and the sound of the spring water mingled, like a crisp, pleasant symphony.
After leaving the house, Qin Huai walked straight towards the main gate. The soft sunlight left a golden circle on her shoulder. The Omega’s face was strained, her eyes fixed straight ahead.
“Senior, wait for me.” Qin Huai was already two meters away from Shen Zhi in the time it took her to close the door.
Not only did Qin Huai not stop, but she didn’t even look at her.
Shen Zhi couldn’t get the Omega to stop, so she quickened her pace, causing a gust of wind. Her fringe was blown loose. She reached out and put her hand on Qin Huai’s shoulder, trying to use this action to slow the other person down.
However, Qin Huai’s neck barely moved. Her gaze lightly drifted down, observing the clean, well-defined fingers resting on her shirt, the prominent wrist bone, and the extremely simple and fluid lines. Qin Huai remembered that when she woke up during her heat, it was these same clean hands that were performing not-so-clean actions, making her even more annoyed.
She stopped abruptly, her eyes shifting from her shoulder to Shen Zhi’s face, her tone impatient, “Go back.”
Shen Zhi suddenly bent over, her eyes meeting Qin Huai’s head-on.
The Alpha was lean and fit, her shoulders slightly wider than the Omega’s. She tilted her head, her eyes thoughtfully scanning Qin Huai’s face. For a moment, Qin Huai was stunned in place, and her shoulders felt inexplicably stiff.
After finishing her scrutiny of Qin Huai’s face, Shen Zhi didn’t shy away. Instead, she continued to look into Qin Huai’s eyes and slowly said, “Qin Huai, are you angry?”
Qin Huai immediately snapped back to her senses. Her stiff shoulders seemed to regain life all at once. Her brow furrowed, and as the corners of her eyes drooped, she pushed Shen Zhi on the chest and denied, “No.”
“Then why are you ignoring me? And why won’t you let me see you out?” Shen Zhi took a small step backward, going with the push. The sunlight shone on her face, lending her an air of wild recklessness.
Qin Huai couldn’t be bothered to argue with her and quickened her pace forward.
This time, Shen Zhi was not in a hurry, leisurely following behind Qin Huai. Her voice gradually grew louder as the retreating figure moved further away, “Senior, who are you angry at?”
“My mom? My mom is just particularly long-winded; don’t mind her.”
“Not my mom? Then is it my dad? But you only greeted my dad when you came in?”
“Neither of them? Then it’s me? Is it that childhood engagement”
Shen Zhi kept watching the straight, upright figure walk forward until the moment she brought up the “childhood engagement.” The back instantly stopped, and the hands hanging at her sides seemed to form a fist.
It seemed she was extremely angry.
Shen Zhi slowly caught up, “What’s a childhood engagement? You can still find me during your heat.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Qin Huai, who had been facing away from her, suddenly turned around and rushed towards her with an unstoppable momentum, stomping on Shen Zhi’s foot, enunciating clearly, “Bastard, what do you take me for?”
Even after stomping, the knot of anger in her heart didn’t loosen. Qin Huai used her knee to strike the Alpha’s knee joint. This blow was more lethal than the foot stomp.
Shen Zhi’s knee instinctively buckled, her calf went weak, and she nearly fell.
Qin Huai glared at her fiercely again and quickly left Shen Zhi’s house.
The villa area was secluded. Most wealthy people owned three, four, or five cars, so there were no buses, let alone taxis, in this area. After leaving, Qin Huai walked straight ahead while trying to book a ride-hailing car on an app, wanting to get further and further away from this place.
Perhaps it was a coincidence, but less than a minute after Qin Huai placed her order, the app showed that someone had accepted it and would arrive in about three minutes.
Qin Huai stood still and glanced towards Shen Zhi’s house while waiting for the car. Outside the black iron gate, the Alpha limped out with a hunched back. Her eyes first looked to one side, couldn’t find Qin Huai, then shifted to the other end. Upon seeing Qin Huai standing straight about a hundred meters away, she finally straightened her back and walked over with anticipation in her eyes.
A white private car turned the corner. Qin Huai looked back at the license plate, confirmed it was the right one, and waved to signal her location.
Shen Zhi hadn’t walked far when the private car in the distance stopped in front of Qin Huai. She watched as Qin Huai unhesitatingly opened the car door, got in, and closed it, the entire sequence of actions done without any delay, not even sparing her a single extra glance.
Shen Zhi stood in place, rubbed her nose, and drooped her eyelids, looking aggrieved, yet a small dimple appeared in her cheek.
When Qin Huai returned to school, it was already lunchtime. The cafeteria was crowded as usual. Standing at the entrance, the bobbing heads gave her a headache, so she decided to order takeout.
Qin Huai always kept her phone on silent. Usually, when she checked it, there were only a few group messages. She opened WeChat as usual but froze in place.
There were over fifty new messages on the WeChat home screen. The bright red number rested on the top right corner of her profile picture, looking particularly urgent.
When Qin Huai saw the name “Shen Zhi” in the notes, her brow twitched. She tapped the screen, swiped through a couple of messages, and then smoothly clicked the three dots in the top right corner, unhesitatingly setting it to mute notifications.
After doing all that, she turned off silent mode and messaged Liu Nian to ask if she needed to bring her a takeout order.
She waited for more than ten minutes. Qin Huai had already reached the dormitory building when her phone chimed.
Qin Huai’s face was drawn from the wait. When she checked WeChat, it wasn’t a message from Liu Nian but a new friend request.
The profile picture was pitch black, and the WeChat name was just a “.”.
Not even a note.
Qin Huai: “…”
Qin Huai didn’t have a habit of adding random friends, so she ignored the friend request and messaged Liu Nian again.
Just as she was walking up the stairs to the dormitory door, her phone rang again.
Qin Huai glanced at it while fumbling for her keys. This time, it wasn’t a message from Liu Nian but an SMS notification.
【Huai】
Qin Huai only read one word but guessed who it was. She tapped the screen twice, sent her reply, and went into the dorm.
On the other end, the Alpha was leaning against the bay window, holding her phone with the screen off. The white sheer curtain swayed in the breeze. The Alpha stared blankly at the scenery outside the window, looking listless and completely defeated.
Blue sky, white clouds, distant mountains, trees.
She was more than familiar with this area, but even so, she still couldn’t figure out why Qin Huai was angry.
The phone vibrated twice. The Alpha’s eyes lit up, and she instantly sat up. Seeing the new text message, her whole body stiffened as if plunged into an ice cellar.
【Qin Huai: If you send any more of these random messages, I will call the police and report you for harassment.】
Shen Zhi took a breath but couldn’t swallow it. It was stuck in her chest, neither up nor down. She wanted to throw the phone straight down, but what had the phone done wrong!
The Alpha pursed her lips, her dimples slightly visible at the corners of her mouth, a look of frustration much like a dog abandoned by its owner.
The phone chimed again. Shen Zhi thought it was the heartless Omega coming to explain herself, so she eagerly tapped it open, only to be stunned. The message wasn’t from the heartless Omega but from another advisor.
【Advisor: Your application to join the laboratory study a few days ago has been approved. Come to the office this afternoon.】
A few days ago, the department had approved a few slots for freshmen to go to the laboratory to gain a better understanding of their major. Research students studied more specialized topics than they did. Shen Zhi had unhesitatingly signed up for Qin Huai’s major.
This was probably the only thing worth being happy about today. Shen Zhi got down from the bay window, put on her slippers, and enthusiastically started packing her things for school.
At 4:30 PM, Qin Huai put on her backpack with her laptop and went straight from the library to her advisor’s office.
When she arrived, only the advisor was in the office; none of her other senior classmates had arrived yet.
The advisor was processing documents on the computer. Hearing the knock, she turned around. Qin Huai pushed the door open just enough to show her head.
“You’re here.” The advisor smiled and pointed to the chair beside her, “Sit down first, and we’ll wait for the others.”
Qin Huai sat down next to the advisor’s desk and took out her laptop from her bag, preparing to look up materials related to drug replacement.
In the quiet office, only shallow breathing could be heard.
The advisor looked over the screen at the Omega, who was frowning and pursing her lips.
Qin Huai had been accepted directly into graduate school with excellent grades. Everyone thought she would choose Qin Zhijing as her advisor, as Qin Zhijing was indeed very accomplished academically, and she had thought so too.
It wasn’t until Qin Huai actively sought her out and strongly recommended herself that she finally understood.
Qin Huai’s attitude towards studying had always been proper. While other senior classmates in the lab complained about the boredom and cried because they couldn’t get a data set right, Qin Huai, this Omega, was stronger than the Alphas and Omegas who were a year older than her. She would review again and again, start over again and again. Amidst all the noise, she was like a cold piece of equipment in the lab, unmoved by any joy or sorrow.
Last time, when they were selecting advisor assistants for the freshmen, she encouraged Qin Huai to apply with the intention of helping her relieve boredom. And this time, with the project to guide freshmen in their studies, she privately hoped Qin Huai could participate.
After all, the crying child gets the candy, and she hoped the Omega in front of her would also become that crying child.
The advisor stopped working and tentatively asked, “Qin Huai, would you consider competing for this spot?”
Qin Huai’s eyes had just come out of a pile of data, and she was in a daze, asking, “What spot?”
“It’s the spot to lead the freshmen in their studies this time.” The advisor leaned forward, thinking there was a chance, and earnestly advised, “This is linked to this year’s scholarship; think about it.”
Qin Huai slowly shifted her gaze away from the screen. Staring at the monitor for a long time made her eyes dry and extremely uncomfortable.
The advisor watched Qin Huai first let out a sigh, with a hint of melancholy in her tone, then rub her eyes. When she opened her eyes again, there was a trace of struggle in them.
“Freshmen again?” Qin Huai thought of that awful Alpha and said with some reluctance, “No, those Alphas are very hard to manage.”
