The White Moonlight is So Scheming - Chapter 21
“Huh?” Her voice shot up sharply.
Shen Juexia widened her eyes in disbelief, her almond-shaped pupils crystal clear.
How could this be?!
Ji Zhijie had been acting passive-aggressive since noon today. Why would she suddenly want her as the female lead?
“Zhijie, Juexia doesn’t seem to believe it. Why don’t you tell her yourself?” Mu Xue added fuel to the fire, waving the script in her hand.
Shifting uncomfortably, Ji Zhijie changed her sitting position, her voice sounding as if it were being forced through gritted teeth. “That’s right. I only want Shen Juexia.”
Her breath hitched.
In those brief moments, Shen Juexia’s expression shifted repeatedly.
Ji Zhijie must be sick.
Wait! Ji Zhijie’s behavior actually proved that her earlier efforts to win her over had worked.
Well, it made sense.
After all, her charm was truly hard to resist.
Clearing her throat lightly, Shen Juexia curled her lips slightly, gracefully tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, her tone laced with amusement. “Since Zhijie needs me so much, of course I can’t refuse.”
How about that~
Now Ji Zhijie must be completely smitten with her!
“What!? You’re really going to act?”
Ji Zhijie abruptly stood up, her brows furrowing into a deep frown.
Annoyed, Shen Juexia lifted her head and pouted. “What? Didn’t you say you wanted me as your female lead? You said it yourself this time!”
“I—” Ji Zhijie was cut off.
She shot a cold glare at Mu Xue, silently clenching her jaw.
Mission accomplished!
Ignoring the piercing gaze from behind, Mu Xue excitedly grabbed Shen Juexia’s hand. “Don’t mind her, she’s just overjoyed. Come on! Let Chen Qian take your measurements.”
Following Mu Xue’s lead, Shen Juexia stood up and walked forward.
Glancing back at Ji Zhijie, she grew even more convinced of her suspicion. Ji Zhijie was definitely a pervert.
Otherwise, why would her expression be a mix of excitement and nervousness?
A sudden shiver ran down Shen Juexia’s spine. She felt like a foolish rabbit willingly walking into a wolf’s den.
She knew something was off about the other girl.
Yet, she had no choice but to brace herself and keep moving forward.

The bright moon hung high in the sky.
The crescent moon quietly nestled into the soft embrace of the clouds, drowsily drifting off.
The bathroom light was still on.
Steam hadn’t completely dissipated, and large droplets of water trickled down the glass walls.
“Ahhh! I’m so exhausted today!!!” After her shower, Shen Juexia collapsed onto the bed, wishing she never had to get up again.
She had spent the entire afternoon at the drama club.
And she even brought home an incredibly thick script.
Curling her index finger, Shen Juexia absentmindedly massaged her temples, sighing repeatedly.
Ji Zhijie, oh Ji Zhijie…
I’ve repaid everything I owed you. All the hardships I avoided in the first seventeen years of my life have come crashing down on me in this short time.
“Meow-meow is a good bunny, good bunnies love to meow!” The WeChat video call ringtone suddenly chimed in her ear.
Her bad mood instantly vanished.
Shen Juexia grabbed her phone and answered without hesitation. “Sis!!!”
A white earpiece rested on her ear.
Shen Tinghan pressed a finger to her lips, her gaze affectionate. “I’m on a break, in the meeting room. There are others nearby.”
Nodding obediently, Shen Juexia traced Shen Tinghan’s facial features lightly with her fingertips through the phone screen, murmuring softly, “Sister, you seem to have lost weight.”
Her phoenix eyes narrowed slightly.
Shen Tinghan took a sip of coffee, her voice gentle, “I’ve been eating on time. You must be mistaken, Xia Xia.”
“For real or for fake?” Shen Juexia pouted, deliberately making a funny face to amuse Shen Tinghan.
“For real.”
Covering her lips, Shen Tinghan smiled, her eyes crinkling.
In the farthest corner of the conference room, two secretaries exchanged silent glances as they stole looks at Shen Tinghan’s expression.
“See? I told you before, but you didn’t believe me!” Chen Mi raised her eyebrows teasingly.
Zhang Mi turned back, her expression nothing short of seeing a ghost in broad daylight.
“Sister, I want to see what you’re wearing today,” Shen Juexia said, propping her head up with her arms as she lay on the bed, her phone resting on the edge of the pillow.
The sight of Shen Tinghan at work held an inexhaustible allure for Shen Juexia.
Glancing down at her watch, Shen Tinghan set down her pen and stood up, walking gracefully out of the conference room. The crisp sound of her heels against the tiled floor was melodious.
Shen Juexia quietly turned up the volume, cupping her cheeks in her hands as she stared intently at the phone screen, her bright almond eyes brimming with anticipation.
The hallway was empty.
It was noon in Country M, the sunlight dazzling and bright, boldly illuminating the massive glass windows.
With a slight movement of her fingers, the screen flipped instantly.
A faint, graceful silhouette appeared on the glass—blurred in outline, only her long, slender legs clearly visible. Her hair was tied back simply, and her delicate features were veiled in a soft haze of light and shadow.
Her heart raced uncontrollably. Instinctively pressing a hand to her chest, Shen Juexia murmured dreamily, “Sister, why don’t you just marry me?”
Though she knew it was just a joke, Shen Tinghan’s heartbeat still skipped a beat. Frowning slightly, her voice cool, she chided, “Don’t joke like that with others. It’s impolite.”
Swinging her fair legs back and forth, Shen Juexia shrugged it off. “How can you blame me? It’s all because you’re too beautiful!”
“So, you’d like anyone you find beautiful?” Shen Tinghan flipped the camera back, raising an eyebrow.
Picking up her phone, Shen Juexia lay on her back, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at Shen Tinghan. “Of course not. I only like you, sister.”
Staring back at Shen Juexia through the screen, Shen Tinghan suddenly pressed further, “What if someone just like me appeared? Would you like her too?”
“Ouch!”
Her hand slipped, and the phone smacked her in the face, hitting her teeth and cutting her lip.
“Xia Xia?” Shen Tinghan’s voice carried a hint of urgency.
Ignoring the pain, Shen Juexia quickly turned off the main light in her bedroom, leaving only the bedside lamp on.
Turning sideways to hide the injured spot in the dim light, she lifted the phone again, masking her fluster with a smile. “It’s nothing, just dropped my phone.”
“The phone doesn’t matter. Are you hurt?” Shen Tinghan asked, concern lacing her voice as she glanced toward the conference room.
The break was over.
People were already trickling back into the meeting.
“Not really~” Noticing Shen Tinghan’s gaze, Shen Juexia said thoughtfully, “What are you looking at, sis? Do you need to go back to a meeting?”
“Mhm.” Her long lashes fluttered slightly as Shen Tinghan’s eyes softened. “I want to finalize the M-country project as soon as possible.”
Shen Juexia, who had been urging her sister to return home every day, suddenly recalled Ji Zhijie’s figure; inexplicably feeling a pang of guilt.
Her fingers stiffened. Shen Juexia parted her lips hesitantly and said, “Sis, there’s no need to rush. Working overtime is exhausting, take your time.”
The beautiful woman suddenly smiled.
Her cool phoenix eyes glimmered with tender warmth, the amber hues of her irises shimmering like rippling water. Shen Tinghan replied softly, “It’s not tiring.”
Unable to meet her sister’s gaze, Shen Juexia bit down on the cut on her lip, using the pain to stay alert. Lowering her lashes, she murmured, “Sis, you should go to your meeting. I should get some sleep soon.”
Her lips pressed lightly together, the corners of her eyes lifting in a visible curve. Shen Tinghan spoke gently into the screen, “Goodnight, my little princess.”
