- The Wealthy Old Man Carried a Child After His Divorce
- Chapter 23 - Soothing the Little Dragon with Kisses!
“If he had not marked you, we could still use medication to sedate him. But after marking a partner, the partner becomes the best medicine.”
Bai Yifeng had changed into a uniform different from the standard Medical Department attire. The Combat Medical Department was less about wards and emergency rooms and functioned more like a massive laboratory. Currently, the Beta stood before a one-way transparent glass wall. Inside, a strange creature was struggling violently against the chains binding him.
He had the familiar face Bai Yifeng knew, but it was now covered in fine, silver white scales. His hands had transformed into claws, and his lower body retained the massive talons of a silver dragon. Only his upper torso and head remained human, though not entirely. Atop the Alpha’s blonde hair, two silver white dragon horns were exceptionally prominent.
“Before you ask me anything, I have a few questions for you.” Mondo opened a notebook he carried and, under Bai Yifeng’s surprised gaze, pulled out an ancient fountain pen, ready to record his words. “From last night until now, did the Colonel show any abnormalities?”
“No, wait.” Bai Yifeng paused. “Does marking count?”
“It does not.” Mondo recorded the response. Bai Yifeng shook his head and turned back to press against the glass, looking at the man on the other side who was eyes closed and panting heavily. “Does a knot forming mark within the body affect him?”
Mondo’s face instantly screamed, “Why did you not say this sooner?” He snapped his notebook shut, no longer caring about formalities. He called someone to open the glass door. Before pushing Bai Yifeng inside, he said, “Go soothe him. Next time, after forming a knot, do not leave the Alpha’s side so carelessly. Even though you are not an Omega, an Alpha’s need for their partner’s company is very intense. Look how lonely you have made him.”
Bai Yifeng came to a halt behind the half human, half dragon Fang Xu, the words “need for company” echoing in his ears. So, Fang Xu turned into this because I was not by his side?
Looking at the scene before him, the Beta gritted his teeth and stepped forward. He was not afraid of what Fang Xu might do to him. Instead, he was making a silent resolve: in the future, he had to make Fang Xu develop the habit of speaking his mind directly. This was his first time being a Beta! Although he was not easily influenced by pheromones, he was also a first timer in a book crossover. Between the melodrama and the ABO setting, how was he supposed to know all this!
The half dragon Alpha seemed to sense a familiar scent approaching. He opened his eyes. When he turned to look at Bai Yifeng, the Beta realized that Fang Xu’s pupils had turned into golden vertical slits. Could this be his original eye color?
At the thought that Fang Xu usually had to use a disguised identity to meet people, the Beta could not help but feel a pang of heartache. Bai Yifeng pursed his lips, stepped forward, and called out Fang Xu’s name. The man staring at him blinked those golden eyes. Just as Bai Yifeng worried he might have lost consciousness, he felt a cold sensation on his hand. He looked down and realized that Fang Xu had somehow manifested his wings as well.
He had once seen Fang Xu’s fully transformed dragon form in a dream. After all, that silver dragon had tormented him quite a bit in that dream, nearly doing him to death. Whether it was the psychological memory or the physical impression left in the dream, he could not forget that sight, even if Fang Xu was not yet in his complete silver dragon form.
The interior space within the square glass walls was vast. Upon walking closer, Bai Yifeng saw several pieces of medical equipment that Fang Xu had destroyed. He knew Mondo was not lying; before coming to find him, they had already tried various methods to calm Fang Xu down.
He glanced toward the door. A barb on one of the dragon’s wings hooked onto him and tugged twice. Bai Yifeng withdrew his gaze. This glass allowed those outside to see in, but not those inside to see out. Everything they did was visible to the people outside. How was he supposed to “soothe” Fang Xu?
“Brother Feng.” To Bai Yifeng’s surprise, Fang Xu could still speak in this state. His voice was not hoarse, just very soft. “I told Mondo not to call you. Did we disturb you?”
“What nonsense are you talking?” Bai Yifeng looked at the wing barb hooked onto his clothes. Its sharpness suggested that a mere touch would draw blood. He did not want to cause more trouble with a bleeding accident at a time like this. “Mondo calling me over actually rescued me from that mess of a situation.”
The Beta reached out and patted the side of the wing, finding that aside from the barbs at the joints, the rest was quite smooth. “How do you feel? How can I help you?”
“What do you mean by ‘mess’?” Unexpectedly, Fang Xu did not act spoiled with Bai Yifeng but instead asked what had happened on his end. Bai Yifeng sensed that Fang Xu was hiding something, but with people watching, he could only follow Fang Xu’s lead. “Ye Lang and Song Ye almost got into a fight, just the same old drama. But something was a bit different today.”
As he spoke, he moved closer to Fang Xu. To be honest, Fang Xu looked quite cool in this form. Every man has some degree of such fantasies, and Bai Yifeng was no exception.
“Can I touch you?” Bai Yifeng stared at his face. The dragon scales on his skin seemed to breathe, rising and falling visibly with Fang Xu’s movements. It had a strange, grotesque beauty. “If you do not answer, I will take it as a yes.”
He cautiously reached out to touch Fang Xu’s cheek. The moment he brushed the scales, both of them let out a soft cry. Bai Yifeng was startled by the texture under his hand, while Fang Xu was suppressing a surge of desire. A dragon claw caught Bai Yifeng’s hand, pulling him slightly away. “Brother Feng, stay back a bit.”
“Colonel, how do you feel right now?”
Mondo’s voice suddenly echoed within the walled space. Although Bai Yifeng knew their every move was being watched and even recorded, Mondo’s request for a “commentary” felt overly intrusive.
“Do they treat you like a test subject?” Bai Yifeng whispered to Fang Xu. The latter shook his head. “No. The Fang family has not had a Secret Bond for generations. I reached an agreement with them; they get my data, and in return, they research ways for me to use this power without it affecting my well being.”
Bai Yifeng was stunned. Fang Xu wanted to lean in to kiss him, but remembering his current state, he did not move. He smiled bitterly. “I want to be with Brother Feng for a long, long time. I cannot let myself die first.”
“Tsk.” Bai Yifeng was already irritable from the nonsense in the Medical Department. Now Fang Xu was talking about dying with those watery eyes, making Bai Yifeng feel as if he owed him eight million Star Credits. Thinking that the texture earlier was just a bit startling and that he could adapt, he boldly hooked his arm around Fang Xu’s nape, stood on his tiptoes, and offered himself up.
He remembered clearly what they had done yesterday. Never mind that this was a monitored laboratory; even if no one were around, Bai Yifeng would not let Fang Xu do anything more to him, he was older, and he could not handle a second round.
Especially with Fang Xu in this state.
It would definitely be the end of him.
His responsibility was to soothe him, ideally helping him return to normal. As their lips met, the scales on Fang Xu’s face, fluctuating with excitement, scratched Bai Yifeng’s cheek. He closed his eyes and glanced toward the door before his vision went dark.
That little rascal Fang Xu had wrapped him tightly in his wings.
It felt as if his breath was being stolen. The barbs on the wings were gently retracted. The touch, like an embrace, allowed Bai Yifeng to relax. For some reason, fragments of vaguely familiar memories flashed through his mind. In the flashes, he seemed to see himself among soft bedding, with Fang Xu embracing him just like this. In the darkness beneath the wings, golden vertical pupils glowed faintly, staring at him with the gaze of a predator.
The Beta could not move and could only choose to accept everything the Alpha gave him.
“Beep! Beep! Beep!”
An alarm sounded, and Bai Yifeng snapped out of it as if waking from a dream. The restraints around him vanished. He subconsciously reached out to catch the man who was about to collapse. However, he clearly underestimated the size difference; it was impossible for an 180 centimeter Beta to catch a 200 centimeter plus Alpha.
He was a bit dazed when he was pulled down by Fang Xu’s weight and fell onto the floor. The door behind them was pushed open from the outside. Mondo rushed in with a group of staff, holding a syringe and intending to jab Fang Xu. Bai Yifeng immediately blocked him. “What are you doing?”
“Mr. Bai, I am only giving him a shot of nutritional supplement,” Mondo explained. “His Secret Bond consumes a great deal of physical strength, which is why he loses consciousness when he reverts. The supplement keeps his body vital while he is unconscious.”
Only then did Bai Yifeng move his hand away. He waited until he was sure there were no abnormalities after the injection before half relaxing. Several people behind Mondo tried to take Fang Xu away, but Mondo stopped them. He looked at Bai Yifeng, but his words were directed at his staff: “Letting Mr. Bai accompany us is not because we need him to continue soothing him. It is because I know perfectly well that if we do not let you follow, you will absolutely wreck my department. Now, please put down the weapon in your hand, Mr. Bai.”
Bai Yifeng froze and looked down at his hand. He had only just realized that he had unconsciously gripped a sharp fragment of the equipment Fang Xu had destroyed. His grip was professional; the sharp end pointed outward, and he had not injured his own hand.
Bai Yifeng: “Nothing.”
Would you believe this is just professional habit?
Watching the unconscious Fang Xu, Bai Yifeng threw the fragment away and followed the staff out of the laboratory. Before leaving, he turned to look at Mondo. The director was still focused on recording data. He had to find a time to tell Mondo about Maisel’s situation; regardless of whether Maisel agreed, he had to settle the possibilities on Mondo’s side first.
What he did not know was that Mondo was currently frowning in a dilemma. “Should I or should I not record the act of kissing?”
In his department, this was the first time they had a case of soothing a patient through a kiss.
