The Villainous Sister-in-law Mistakenly Marked as the Heroine (Transmigration) - Chapter 11
“Rong Jing? Where are you?”
A voice came from outside.
Rong Jing quickly turned her head and replied, “I’m changing.”
He Yan walked up to the dressing room door and knocked. “Try this one.”
The dressing room wasn’t very spacious, one alpha who couldn’t control her pheromones, and one omega whose pheromones were usually indifferent but became unusually active around the person in front of her.
Both of their breathing gradually grew heavier.
“Rong Jing?”
The dressing room door opened a crack. Rong Jing took the clothes and immediately closed it again.
Lin Qile pressed her back against the wall, staring at Rong Jing, who now held the clothes in her hands.
Change?
Change clothes?
In front of her?
Though the two had been intimate before, that had all been under the influence of pheromones. Now, both of them were fully conscious, and they were in a store dressing room. This kind of stimulation was too much for a novice like her who had only just tasted desire.
Let! Me! Out!
She silently pleaded.
Rong Jing met her imploring gaze.
The next second, Lin Qile felt her body spin abruptly before being pressed against the wall, her face squished against it. “You!”
A low, threatening whisper brushed her ear. “Don’t you dare peek.”
“What was that noise?”
He Yan’s puzzled voice came from outside. Rong Jing quickly answered, “It’s nothing.”
Then,
The rustling sound of clothes being removed. The faint, cool fragrance. Lin Qile tried her best to ignore it, but her heartbeat gradually quickened. She recited medical terms in her mind, hoping to suppress the restlessness inside her. But the more she tried to suppress it, the clearer the images in her head became.
Even the sound of the zipper being pulled felt like a feather brushing against her heart, tingling and electrifying.
“Rong Jing, don’t you hate attending these charity auctions? Usually, your mother represents your family. Why the sudden interest in going yourself? And dragging me out early in the morning to buy clothes?”
Rong Jing paused mid-motion. “I just felt like going.”
As she dressed, her eyes remained fixed on the back of Lin Qile’s head.
She should hate this person.
This person’s mother and her own had done something so vile.
Yet when she told her not to peek, this woman actually stood ramrod straight, not making the slightest move.
Was this really the same Lin family’s good-for-nothing eldest daughter that everyone in their circles talked about?
Her fingers trembled slightly as she buttoned up.
Damn it!
A flicker of panic flashed in her eyes.
Was her heat cycle being triggered again?
“Are you done yet?”
The voice outside persisted.
Rong Jing shot Lin Qile an annoyed glare before opening the door. “Let’s go!”
“Why is your face so red?”
“Help me to the car.”
The voices outside gradually faded. Lin Qile slumped against the wall, gasping for air. God, she was sweating down her neck.
She could practically feel Rong Jing’s gaze burning a hole through the back of her head!
But from their earlier conversation, it seemed Rong Jing was attending the charity auction in place of her mother?
Was she already starting to guard against Bai Jiao?
“Well, that saves me the trouble of finding a way to warn you. Moody as hell, but at least you’re sharp.”
She took a deep breath, waiting for herself to calm down. Just as she pushed open the dressing room door, she saw her mother standing not far away, looking in her direction.
Her entire body tensed. “Mom, where… where did you just go?”
Had her mother seen?
Her and Rong Jing…
Lin Xinrou asked casually, “I was just on the phone with your grandfather. Did you find something you liked, sweetheart?”
“Yeah.”
“Then let’s go.”
Seeing her mother’s unchanged expression, it seemed she hadn’t noticed anything. Lin Qile quietly exhaled in relief.
The next day.
At the entrance of Lin Enterprises.
A luxury car pulled up in front of the company building.
Lin Qile stepped out, dressed head to toe in designer brands, white casual pants, a strapless chiffon camisole, a limited-edition bracelet on her wrist, and a handbag worth hundreds of thousands. She swaggered into the company with an air of arrogance.
Everywhere she passed, employees on both sides couldn’t help but cast curious glances.
Perfect.
This was exactly the effect she wanted.
A clueless, spoiled heiress, the more openly she flaunted her arrogance, the less Qi Song would suspect her.
“Miss Lin.”
The receptionist greeted her with a smile, as if already familiar with her.
She tugged her sunglasses down slightly and flashed a bright grin. “No need to call me ‘Miss.’ I’m here for an internship. Where should I report?”
“The CEO said you should go straight to her office when you arrive.”
“Got it.”
She stepped into the elevator.
The moment the doors closed, the receptionist’s gossipy spirit ignited, and the company’s internal chat group exploded.
Anonymous1: The heiress has arrived!
Anonymous2: Which heiress?
Anonymous5: Who else? Lin Qile! The one and only heiress of Lin Enterprises. I just saw her too, her designer outfit nearly blinded me. I swear, one of her earrings probably costs more than my monthly salary.
Anonymous13: That bag she’s carrying could buy an entire apartment in my hometown. Wow, is this what it’s like to be a top-tier alpha born with a silver spoon?
At a workstation.
Ji Zhao stared at the group chat, gripping her phone so tightly it might shatter.
The screen reflected her twisted expression.
Why?
They were both the children of the same mother. Why did that useless fool get to live a life she could only dream of, while she had to slave away like a corporate drone?
She had always been the top student, outshining Lin Qile in every way by a hundredfold. Yet Lin Qile drove luxury cars, lived in mansions, and had bank cards with millions at her disposal.
And her?
Her mother had always told her to stay low-key, to bide her time. But how much longer did she have to endure before she could finally crush Lin Qile underfoot and drag her down from her pedestal into the mud?
Only she deserved that kind of life!
Thinking about yesterday, when Lin Qile had been publicly humiliated, a surge of satisfaction coursed through her. So what if Lin Qile was born into privilege? Wan Ning was carrying her child.
The woman Lin Qile had schemed so hard to win over was hopelessly in love with her!
What good was all that money if she couldn’t even get what she wanted?
Every time she thought about it, she felt an overwhelming sense of triumph.
Inside the CEO’s office.
The moment Lin Qile walked in, Qi Song frowned. “You’re here to work, not to vacation.”
She deliberately pouted, feigning innocence. “But Mom bought these for me.”
“How many times have I told you? She spoils you rotten, and this is the result!”
She lowered her gaze, her eyes filled with silent mockery.
Oh, so Mom shouldn’t spend money on me? Should she save it all for you to steal and give to your mistress and illegitimate daughter?
“Mom said our family is rich and we can spend however we want.”
Qi Song was momentarily speechless before shaking her head. “I didn’t agree to this nonsense of you coming to the company, but since you’re here, at least take it seriously.”
She picked up the phone and summoned a secretary. “You’ll follow Secretary Chen. Do whatever she tells you.”
Secretary Chen, who had just entered, quickly responded, “Understood.”
Lin Qile glanced at her, and the secretary offered a faint smile in return.
“Get to work.”
“Yes, CEO.”
Secretary Chen turned and walked out, with Lin Qile following closely behind.
They left the office and made their way to the secretarial department, where seven or eight secretaries were working. Upon seeing her, they all stood up and greeted her warmly, “Miss Lin.”
“Please don’t call me Miss Lin. I’m here as an intern, just call me Qile.”
“Alright, Qile. Chen Nan, make sure to take good care of her. I need to prepare the materials for the CEO’s meeting.”
“I’ll go to the marketing department to get some documents.”
“I have to visit a partner company.”
One by one, the secretaries left to attend to their tasks. Within minutes, only she and Chen Nan remained in the office, staring awkwardly at each other.
With a sweet tone, she called out, “Sister Chen.”
Chen Nan, who was sorting through files, smiled at her. “What’s up?”
“What do we do now?”
“I’m the CEO’s archival secretary, responsible for organizing all the files. Aside from quarterly, biannual, and annual archiving, we usually have a lot of free time.”
Lin Qile: “…”
No wonder they agreed to let her join the company and even assigned someone to guide her, they were setting her up from the start!
Even if she entered the company, they wouldn’t actually let her get involved in real business operations. Just a useless figurehead, easily brushed aside!
Resting her elbows on the desk and propping her chin on interlaced fingers, a mocking glint flashed in her eyes as she glanced toward the CEO’s office.
So, this was Qi Song’s plan, huh?
But she wasn’t about to let things go her way!
“This is so boring, Sister Chen. To celebrate my first day as an intern, I want to treat the entire company to milk tea. But I don’t know how many cups to order. What should I do?”
“The… entire company?” Chen Nan stared at her in shock. Truly a young miss her generosity knew no bounds!
“Yep.”
“You’d have to check with HR. Only they know the exact number of employees.”
She sidled up to Chen Nan and cooed, “Then come with me, please~”
“Sure.”
The two headed to the HR department.
Once there, Chen Nan helped her with the arrangements while she lingered behind, casually observing her surroundings.
Then,
A familiar figure caught her eye, making her pupils dilate in shock.
Ji Zhao?!
She was here?!
Watching Ji Zhao settle into a workstation and begin working, Lin Qile’s mind reeled. She had expected Qi Song to secretly assist her illegitimate daughter, but she never imagined she’d be bold enough to place her right in the company.
“Qile?”
She snapped out of her daze to find Chen Nan looking at her. “All set?”
“Mm.”
She pulled out her phone. “I’ll handle the payment.”
The HR manager smiled. “You really shouldn’t have.”
“It’s nothing, just a small treat. Manager Li, the work here in HR seems really interesting. Sister Chen, can I stay a bit longer?”
“Qile, we’d be more than happy to have you in HR.”
The others around them chimed in enthusiastically.
Ji Zhao soon noticed the commotion. When she looked up and saw Lin Qile, her expression froze.
Lin Qile met her gaze and flashed her a radiant smile.
Ji Zhao coldly averted her eyes.
News of the young miss treating the entire company to milk tea spread like wildfire.
When hundreds of cups arrived, each customized to individual preferences it instantly won over every employee.
Some even posted photos online with captions like: The young miss is interning at the company and treated everyone to milk tea. My ‘less sugar’ request was even thoughtfully noted!
Comment 1: Wow, what a goddess-like young miss!
Comment 2: Please drop the company name, I’ll apply tomorrow. My own “young miss” boss makes me buy her lunch every day and never pays me back. Poor me, just a struggling worker.
Comment 3: +1
Lin Qile had no idea that her small gesture had planted a seed online, let alone that this seed would eventually take root and grow into a protective tree shielding her in the future.
Her current thought was simple: Ji Zhao had to go!
Qi Song’s influence was too strong for her to challenge yet, but Ji Zhao was a different story.
But how?
Lost in thought, she picked up an extra cup of milk tea and walked toward Ji Zhao, placing it directly on her desk.
At this point, Ji Zhao and Rong Wanning’s affair hadn’t been exposed yet, so the two were practically strangers who had only exchanged a few glances.
“Everyone’s having milk tea, why aren’t you drinking?”
Leaning against the desk, Lin Qile kept a friendly smile, as if just casually greeting a colleague. “I’m Lin Qile. What’s your name?”
“No, thanks.”
Ji Zhao ignored the tea, her eyes fixed on the computer screen.
“Really? Not even a little face?”
Silence.
Noticing the surrounding glances, Lin Qile deliberately nudged the cup closer to Ji Zhao’s arm, then leaned in and whispered, “Rong Wanning’s baby is yours, isn’t it?”
Ji Zhao shot to her feet, staring at her in shock. The abrupt movement knocked the tea over, spilling all over Lin Qile.
“Ah! My clothes!”
She shrieked, jumping back as the scalding liquid soaked into her waist.
“How could you?!” she yelled. “I was just being nice offering you tea, and you deliberately threw it at me!”
Ji Zhao snapped, “I didn’t!”
“Oh, so I poured it on myself?”
Chen Nan and the supervisor rushed over, one supporting Lin Qile, the other wiping off the mess. “Hurry to the restroom before it burns you!”
Surrounded by concerned colleagues, she was ushered to the bathroom.
After changing, the supervisor spoke up, apologizing on Ji Zhao’s behalf: “Ji Zhao’s just… not very sociable. Qile, I’ll make her apologize.”
“Supervisor Li.”
Lin Qile stopped him, idly toying with her bracelet. “Not sociable?”
“Right.”
“Then fire her.”
Supervisor Li: “…”
Everyone: “…”
Lin Qile’s earlier smile vanished, replaced by icy detachment. “Why should the company keep someone who can’t fit in? And honestly, she doesn’t just seem antisocial, she’s downright violent! All I did was offer her tea. If she didn’t want it, fine. But that murderous glare? What was that about?”
“Qile, that punishment is… too harsh. Ji Zhao’s been here a year without any issues.”
She leveled a cold stare at him. “Supervisor Li, this is my family’s company. Do I need your permission to dismiss an unfit employee?”
“N-No, of course not.”
“Send her the termination notice.”
“Yes!”
Satisfied, her smile instantly returned. “Supervisor Li, I won’t forget how you helped me today. You’ll be rewarded.”
With that, she strode out.
Only after she was gone did Supervisor Li sigh. “I thought she’d softened up. Still the same spoiled young miss at heart.”
“Director,” someone nearby asked, “what about this termination letter… The CEO publicly praised Ji Zhao just last month.”
“Go ahead and issue it, but send it to the CEO’s office first after it’s done. Understood?”
The subordinate’s eyes lit up. “Yes!”
Qi Song had just finished her meeting when the secretary brought the termination letter from HR, explaining that her signature was required as per protocol.
