- Chapter 25 - Peacock Display
Chi Yingdong calculated the time and realized her estrus period was approaching.
Yet the kitten remained unaware of the gravity of the situation, persistently nuzzling against her scent gland.
The kitten’s furry head nestled into the crook of Chi Yingdong’s neck, its tail swishing back and forth against her arm, sending tingling sensations across her skin.
Even more, the kitten extended its tongue, gently licking the gland.
Over and over, as if savoring a sweet little cake.
The warm, moist breath sprayed against Chi Yingdong’s skin, causing faint shivers to run through her.
The kitten’s tongue had fine, backward-facing barbs, their tips scraping against the gland, bringing a slight stinging sensation. Yet it couldn’t suppress the deep-seated itch and restlessness rising within Chi Yingdong.
Her breathing gradually quickened, her body burning as if on fire.
A wave of heat spread downward from her lower abdomen, making her involuntarily clench her legs.
The corners of her eyes flushed a faint red, her throat unconsciously swallowing the increasingly dry saliva, her fingers unconsciously gripping the fabric of the sofa.
The kitten continued to rub against her, its paw pads pressing leisurely against her chest.
Chi Yingdong took a deep breath, reached out to grab the scruff of the kitten’s neck, lifted it off her, and stood up, quickly heading toward the bathroom.
In the bathroom.
Chi Yingdong cupped her hands, scooping up water to splash on her face.
But this small amount of water couldn’t extinguish the fire within her; instead, it fueled the flames.
In her mind, the image of the kitten transforming into human form replayed over and over.
The soft ears, the snow-white skin, and that slender waist.
Chi Yingdong’s almond-shaped eyes narrowed slightly, her legs unconsciously rubbing together, trying to alleviate the unbearable restlessness.
Her damp fingertips traced a path downward from her abdomen.
…
Chi Yingdong emerged from the bathroom.
Water droplets still dripped from the ends of her hair as she dried her damp locks with a towel, her gaze drifting toward the sofa.
The kitten was sprawled out on the sofa, its furry belly rising and falling with each breath, its little paws occasionally scratching a few times, looking as if it were drunk.
Chi Yingdong murmured under her breath, “Heartless little thing.”
Yet the corners of her lips unconsciously lifted.
She softened her footsteps, approached the sofa, and lightly brushed her fingertips over the kitten’s soft ear tips.
A renewed sense of anticipation for the future blossomed in her heart.
At an inopportune moment, she thought of Qiao Ying.
She and Qiao Ying had attended the same elementary, middle, and high schools.
During their teenage years, close friends had privately asked her what she felt for Qiao Ying, whether she experienced any indescribable reactions toward him.
Chi Yingdong had always been bewildered, unable to comprehend what they meant.
After starting university, she lived in a dormitory for a while.
One of her roommates was a female Omega with a flamboyant personality, surrounded by admirers but never committing to any, the type who flitted through a garden of flowers without a single petal sticking to her.
During late-night chats after lights-out, this female Omega would share with them her experiences with different Alphas during intimate moments.
Some Alphas were gentle and attentive to her needs, making her feel comfortable; others were dominant, skipping foreplay, inserting one finger followed swiftly by two; still others enjoyed using ropes, mint candies, and other props to give her unique experiences.
Behind her bed curtain, Chi Yingdong lay with her eyes open, staring at the ceiling, listening to those explicit descriptions.
While her other roommates chimed in with excited exclamations, their voices brimming with anticipation, Chi Yingdong’s eyes only reflected confusion.
She had never experienced anything like this before, and she had no interest in it.
But today…
Chi Yingdong rubbed her fingertips, where a lingering warmth seemed to remain.
Originally, it was just her body feeling restless due to her estrus cycle, a single dose of suppressants would have been enough to calm the agitation.
But then she remembered the sight of the kitten transforming into a human form, and the calming cloth she had used turned out to be expired, completely ineffective.
What if it were Qingqing?
The moment this thought surfaced, Chi Yingdong froze as if scalded.
She stood in place for a long time before feigning composure, shoving her hands into her pajama pockets and walking expressionlessly toward her bedroom.
Yet, lying on her bed in the room, countless questions about Meng Qinghe flooded her mind like a burst dam.
What kind of Alpha did Qingqing like? Would she like someone like her?
Was she usually too pretentious? Should she smile more often?
This thought made Chi Yingdong bolt upright, leap out of bed barefoot, and rush to the full-length mirror.
She began practicing her smile in front of it.
…
The next day.
The temperature had risen sharply compared to the day before.
The air conditioner hummed softly, struggling to maintain a constant 26 degrees, but Meng Qinghe still couldn’t sleep well due to the humidity in the air.
The kitten rolled over, exposing her fluffy white belly.
Her dazed eyes fixed on the ceiling, occasionally batting at the air.
It took a while before the kitten fully regained her senses.
She stretched her front limbs, flexing her muscles and bones, then hopped off the sofa and began searching the house for Chi Yingdong.
Meng Qinghe felt an inexplicable sense of loss.
Yesterday, Chi Yingdong hadn’t carried her back to the room to sleep.
Thinking back carefully, during the early days after she was brought home,
Chi Yingdong, unaware that a human soul resided inside the kitten, had called her “baby” repeatedly and slept with her.
Now that she knew there was a human inside, not only did they no longer share a room, but Chi Yingdong didn’t even call her “baby” anymore.
The kitten’s tail, which had been held high, suddenly drooped as she slowly paced around the room.
From a distance, she spotted Chi Yingdong standing by the kitchen island, holding a pure white bone china cup and leisurely sipping coffee.
The kitten looked surprised.
In Meng Qinghe’s memory, Chi Yingdong never wasted time on such leisurely, refined activities.
Today’s Chi Yingdong seemed different in some way.
Gradually, she found herself drawn to Chi Yingdong’s outfit for the day.
Chi Yingdong was wearing a peacock-blue silk shirt dress.
As she moved, the fabric shimmered with a water-like luster.
The deep V-neck design accentuated her slender neck and well-defined collarbones.
When she raised her hand to drink coffee, the lace-trimmed cuffs slipped slightly, revealing a delicate wrist.
A thin silver chain was wrapped around her wrist, with a sapphire pendant that made her skin appear even fairer.
But what surprised Meng Qinghe the most was Chi Yingdong’s hair, which was usually tied up carelessly, had been styled into loose, lazy waves that cascaded over her shoulders. A small, exquisite silver feather hair accessory was pinned in her bangs.
Looking at that accessory, Meng Qinghe suddenly thought of a blue peacock.
Chi Yingdong’s completely opposite style today was just like a peacock flaunting its feathers!
With this thought, the kitten couldn’t help but grin widely.
The kitten’s grinning face, originally quite adorable, now looked remarkably like a mischievous snake.
“What are you laughing at?”
Chi Yingdong slightly furrowed her brows, set down the porcelain cup, and reached out to scratch the kitten’s chin.
Meng Qinghe nimbly dodged, avoiding Chi Yingdong’s outstretched hand, and with a push of her hind legs, leaped onto the kitchen island.
She lay down on the island, crossing her fluffy little legs in an attempt to strike a somewhat imperfect “cross-legged” pose.
“Meow, meow, meow, meow.”
You’ve dressed up so beautifully today, do you have any plans?
Even though Chi Yingdong couldn’t understand what the kitten was meowing, the playful glint in those emerald-green eyes made her guess the meaning almost perfectly.
Chi Yingdong’s gaze darkened slightly as she tapped her fingertips lightly on the kitchen island and asked, “Where did you learn that?”
The accusatory tone annoyed the kitten.
Her tail swished back and forth rapidly as she retorted, “Meow, meow, meow, meow!”
Haven’t you heard the saying, ‘If you haven’t eaten pork, at least you’ve seen a pig run’?
