The Villainous Consort (GL) - Chapter 21.2
“Naturally, I believe you,” the lady replied. “Since fate has brought us together and the night is late, why doesn’t the lady stay here and rest?”
Qi Yu’s fingers trembled, and her legs followed suit. A beauty’s smile was often described as peerless, but to Qi Yu, it felt as though she were staring at a man-eating demoness. “No… no, I have been out for too long. My mot—no, my father will be worried.”
Mother, help! This lady is a monster!
The Eldest Princess watched Qi Yu in silence. Under the mingling of moonlight and lamplight, the woman’s face was as pale as snow; her eyes, wide with panic and unease, revealed a rare hint of vulnerability.
The Princess’s lips curved upward. “I heard that a puppy went missing from the Princess’s Manor, and the search outside is quite lively. It is so late; if you were to run into the manor’s guards, they might mistake you for the thief who stole the dog. That would be quite unfortunate. The lady should wait until dawn before returning.”
Qi Yu silently clenched her fists. This black-hearted villain! She actually called her a puppy! This was simply unbearable. As the saying goes, “a gentleman takes his revenge,” but she felt she couldn’t wait a moment—she wanted her revenge right here, right now.
Her eyes flickered as she calculated the possibility of knocking the Eldest Princess unconscious, giving her a few kicks, and then making a run for it.
As if reading her mind, the Eldest Princess said faintly, “Although there are no guards in my courtyard, fortunately, I know a bit of martial arts. You need not worry, for I shall certainly protect you.”
Is that look in her eyes an intent to strike? the Princess wondered. She hadn’t heard that her “dear Prince Consort” knew martial arts, and the girl looked quite frail. If Qi Yu truly had the audacity to lay a hand on her, the Princess wouldn’t mind a brief sparring session.
Qi Yu’s expression shifted instantly, and her legs instinctively took a step back. She knows martial arts? How much is ‘a bit’? It was over. Her legs felt like jelly.
“Then… then I shall trouble you, Miss. I will leave tomorrow morning.”
Fine, Qi Yu thought. A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years. She would stabilize the enemy first, wait for the Princess to fall asleep, and then slip away quietly.
The Eldest Princess’s bright eyes blinked. “Then I must ask the lady to endure the grievance of sharing a bed with me. There is only one habitable room in this courtyard.”
You want to leave? Dream on.
“No grievance at all, no grievance…” Qi Yu felt as if she were walking on clouds. With tears in her eyes, she looked up at the sky in speechless despair. There was only a solitary moon; not a single star was in sight.
Ah, I feel so aggrieved!
