The Villain Recognizes the Female Lead as His Master [Transmigration] - Chapter 26.2
Furiously, he ripped off the black cloth, revealing a face covered in scars, his eyes wide with anger. This time, he abandoned the squeaky voice and used his real tone, roaring, “How did you know it was me!”
I wasn’t sure before, but now I am.
“You’re right, young master, you’re naturally sharp-witted. But who was it that caused me to wear this mask in the first place!” Wei Yang refused to admit that his little trick had been seen through by Chi Jinnian at a glance. He thought it was all a coincidence, how could a fool like Chi Jinnian possibly figure out his plan?
“Enough nonsense!” Chi Jinnian snapped impatiently. “Why did you tie us up?”
In the original story, Wei Yang had feelings for Yuan Shao. He remained her backup until the very end, even earning tears from many readers. The comment section was filled with shouts urging the female lead to give Wei Yang, the handsome, well-built, and highly skilled second male lead, a chance.
Even after the grand finale, when Yuan Shao ascended, some readers lamented: “Our dear Wei Yang is all alone in the mortal world now, sob sob.”
Looking at Wei Yang’s face now his eyes swollen like a goldfish’s, his cheeks covered in red scratch marks it was hard to connect him with the term “dear.”
Chi Jinnian glanced at Wei Yang, then at Yuan Shao… Could it be? Had Wei Yang’s feelings for Yuan Shao developed ahead of schedule?
Had he seen Yuan Shao before? Was it love at first sight because of that one encounter?
“You’re not planning to take my master. No way!” Chi Jinnian shouted.
“Why not? Would she be at a disadvantage with me?” Wei Yang’s voice grew increasingly furious. As a distinguished young general of the demon realm, what was wrong with wanting someone? Did he need Chi Jinnian’s permission?
This seemed to make things clear to Su Tingxi, who was across from them. Great, now someone was competing for the disciple’s position, and another was vying for the master’s affection!
“Hey!” Su Tingxi yelled. “What’s the point of tying me up? If you have the guts, let me go, and we’ll fight again, settling this fairly with our skills!”
The noise from behind drew Wei Yang’s attention. He snorted coldly. “Fight whom? You? So you can use the artifacts I refined against me again? I don’t have the patience for that!”
Wei Yang strode over to Yuan Shao, pinched her chin, and forced her to look up at him. “The renowned number one beauty of the cultivation world? Immortal Master Yuan? And now you’ve fallen into my hands.” He then turned to Su Tingxi. “What bargaining chip do you have to challenge me?”
“Let her go!” Chi Jinnian roared at Wei Yang. “Wei Yang, haven’t I warned you? You are not to touch her! As long as you leave her alone, I’ll agree to anything you ask!”
Hearing this, Wei Yang released his grip and sneered. “Chi Jinnian, stop with your high-sounding words. ‘Agree to anything’? I sent people to find you today, and you dismissed them with a single sentence! I asked you where Su Tingxi was, why didn’t you tell me the truth? You were clearly hiding him! Your hypocritical behavior is disgusting!”
“I really had something important today!” Chi Jinnian explained. “Couldn’t you have waited just one day?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, a terrifying thought struck Chi Jinnian. According to the plan, today was supposed to be the starting point of Yuan Shao and Su Tingxi’s relationship. Wei Yang’s urgency and his ability to track them down to the tavern clearly indicated he wanted to disrupt this romantic development! He was indeed targeting Yuan Shao!
In the original story, Wei Yang was an obsessive, love-struck fool who would slaughter his way back to the demon realm for Yuan Shao. Now, Chi Jinnian couldn’t guarantee what he might do.
Wei Yang seemed to see through Chi Jinnian’s thoughts and sneered, “It seems you’ve already understood my intentions. Chi Jinnian, oh Chi Jinnian, we truly are old rivals you grasp my thoughts in an instant.”
Wei Yang turned and began pacing around Su Tingxi and Yuan Shao, speaking to himself, “You see the situation. If you yield to me, we can settle this amicably. I’ll release both of them. But if you refuse.”
He snapped his fingers, and Chi Jinnian, who was hanging from the ceiling beam, suddenly dropped. A scream escaped her lips before she halted mid-air.
“A’Nian!” Yuan Shao tried to rush forward but was yanked back by the ropes binding her, leaving bloody marks on her once-smooth arms.
The sudden proximity allowed Chi Jinnian to clearly see the bubbles churning in the boiling oil below.
Wei Yang leaned down between them, deliberately drawing out his words, “I’ll throw them into the oil starting with Chi Jinnian.”
Trembling uncontrollably, Chi Jinnian was enveloped in the rising steam, the pungent smell of oil making her stomach churn and causing her to retch repeatedly. Yet, she refused to give up.
She turned her head and spotted the fat and thin mice in the corner, holding the ropes.
So that’s how it is. They were in cahoots with Wei Yang, no wonder he had caught wind of her plans and brought the three of them precisely here.
If she and Yuan Shao had eaten the food, they would have been captured even sooner. It was only because they hadn’t touched it that Wei Yang’s plan was disrupted. That’s why he had made his move during the fireworks display, when everyone’s attention was diverted.
Although Chi Jinnian was a villain, there were still plot points she needed to push forward later. According to the original story, she wasn’t supposed to die here. Besides, as the young mistress and considering Chi Lin’s influence, she believed Wei Yang wouldn’t dare harm her directly at least not kill her outright.
“Master, don’t!” Chi Jinnian cried out. “Don’t worry about me! He wouldn’t dare do anything to me!”
“A’Nian…” Yuan Shao felt a lump in her throat, her voice choked with emotion. Even at a time like this, her A’Nian was still.
“Are you stupid? If the rope loosens, you’ll die!” In a place no one could see, a glistening tear slid down Yuan Shao’s cheek.
Her A’Nian was foolish, so foolish.
Yuan Shao had always thought Chi Jinnian was timid afraid to approach her, afraid to sleep alone.
Yet despite her fear, she always stepped forward to shield Yuan Shao from harm.
It was the same in the Water Mirror, and it was the same now.
This disciple was truly too foolish so foolish that Yuan Shao couldn’t help but want to pull her into an embrace and protect her fiercely.
“That’s right, Master! He wouldn’t dare harm Chi Jinnian! Don’t listen to him!” Knowing Chi Jinnian’s true identity, Su Tingxi chimed in, trying to comfort Yuan Shao. But all he received in return was a look of disdain. “You’re a man, yet at the first sign of trouble, you push the young girl forward. What kind of courage is that?”
Meanwhile, Wei Yang cast a sidelong glance at Chi Jinnian, who appeared “righteous and unyielding,” wondering what new trick the little vixen was playing today was she feigning ignorance?
Here, Su Tingxi, having been evaluated by Yuan Shao in such a manner, was momentarily at a loss. He wanted to explain but couldn’t find the words. He wanted to tell Yuan Shao, “The one hanging opposite isn’t your disciple I am your disciple, your only disciple! They’re in cahoots, all from the demon realm! I said that not because I wanted to abandon her, but because I was afraid you’d do something foolish!”
Yet, he also felt that Chi Jinnian hadn’t harmed him. If he were to reveal her true identity over this matter, not only would Yuan Shao despise him, but he himself couldn’t accept being that kind of person.
Before his thoughts could settle, Su Tingxi felt the stool beneath him suddenly kicked hard.
“Hey, I’m talking to you!” Wei Yang said. “Their lives are in my hands. Will you submit or not!”
Chi Jinnian:
Yuan Shao:
Su Tingxi!
Realizing what was happening, Su Tingxi’s face flushed red instantly. Casting aside all decorum, he yelled, “Get lost! Are you insane?!”
This reaction caught Wei Yang off guard. “I asked if you’ll submit, and you curse at me?! Are you asking for death?!”
On the other side, Chi Jinnian, still hanging, instantly put on a gossipy expression. Wow! Damn, there’s a hidden plotline here!
But her amusement lasted only a few seconds before the rope suspending her lowered a bit more.
Another scream from Chi Jinnian echoed through the air.
Damn it! Why am I the bargaining chip in your drama?! After calming her racing heart, Chi Jinnian spoke up to persuade him, “Um, Senior Brother, maybe you should… just endure it for now?”
“Are you crazy too?!” Su Tingxi roared at Chi Jinnian. “You make it sound easy, why don’t you do it yourself?!”
“But he likes you, not me!” Chi Jinnian stated matter-of-factly, but this time it was Wei Yang who exploded.
“Get lost! Are you all insane?!” Wei Yang’s already reddish skin darkened further. “I just want to recruit a follower! And you have to disgust me like this?!”
