The Villain I Loved Has Broken Free and Transmigrated Out of the Story - Chapter 25
“What do you mean ‘braised’?” Yin Ya asked, initially confused. After a moment’s thought, she realized her mistake. “I meant ‘braised’ as in cooked in a seasoned broth, not ‘captured’.”
The Big Villain’s misunderstanding was amusing, but then Yin Ya remembered that she’d never even tasted lamb soup, let alone braised pig liver.
Yin Ya quickly reached the cooked meat section and leaned closer to the counter, giving Cang Lanyan a better view.
“Human cooking methods are truly diverse,” Cang Lanyan remarked after a moment of silence.
Yin Ya smiled but said nothing. After buying braised pork liver, she also grabbed a piece of savory beef brisket, had it weighed and packed, and put it in the shopping cart.
“We need to use the fresh mint quickly. I won’t be able to show you around the supermarket today,” she said.
“No problem, I’ll explore on my own,” Cang Lanyan replied.
Just as she finished speaking, Yin Ya felt a lightness around her neck. Looking down, she realized the “Precious Spirit Jade” that Cang Lanyan had manifested was gone.
“Hey?!” Yin Ya exclaimed, startled. When she looked up, Cang Lanyan had vanished without a trace.
“Don’t touch anything in the supermarket!” she called out loudly, drawing surprised glances from passersby as she hurriedly wheeled the cart to the checkout.
After paying and heading home with the groceries, Yin Ya felt uneasy. She took out her phone, intending to text Cen Xiang about her troubles.
But when she reached into her pocket, she realized her backup phone was missing—only her regular phone remained.
Yin Ya was still shaken and confused. When exactly had her backup phone been stolen?
Because she needed to talk to Cang Lanyan, she had been constantly on guard, scanning her surroundings everywhere she went. No one could have possibly gotten close enough to slip their hand into her pocket and steal a phone the size of a palm.
Unless… Cang Lanyan had taken it herself. She could pull off a completely undetectable telekinesis trick.
But that made even less sense. Didn’t the Big Villain just throw a fit yesterday about someone “manipulating the fate of her phone,” even going so far as to cut the data cable?
Yin Ya couldn’t figure it out. Having never lost a phone before, she was at a loss and decided to contact Cen Xiang first.
[Has Fusheng Written Today]: Actually, I just went to the supermarket with her… It was really sudden.
[Er Xiang :Shocked.jpg]
[Has Fusheng Written Today]: I planned to come back right after shopping, but after she said hi, she wandered off on her own.
[Er Xiang]: Ah, are you okay with her wandering around the supermarket alone?
[Has Fusheng Written Today ]: I’m not okay with it, but what could I do? She vanished right after talking to me! I can’t exactly grab a megaphone and shout her name everywhere. When she doesn’t want to show up, she completely ignores me. QAQ
Has Fusheng Written Today: And she seems to have taken my backup phone without telling me. I’m not sure if she really took it or if it was stolen. I don’t know what to do now.
[Er Xiang: “Head Pat.jpg”]
[Er Xiang: Why don’t you drop your stuff off downstairs and wait for me? I’ll be at Ruiye Garden’s gate in fifteen minutes. Typing is too slow, and talking on the phone isn’t convenient. Let’s figure it out in person.]
Yin Ya replied with a simple “Okay,” feeling slightly relieved. She rushed home with her bags, hastily sorted the items, shoved them into the fridge, and hurried back downstairs.
As the elevator doors opened, a familiar face greeted her.
The tall woman in a fitted black parka smoothed her shoulder-length chestnut hair, released her luggage, and without a word, opened her arms to Yin Ya.
Yin Ya embraced her instinctively.
She had never refused a hug from this childhood friend she’d grown up with.
“Little one, you’ve been working hard lately!” Cen Xiang cooed, ruffling her hair. She glanced around, then dragged her suitcase to a secluded corner away from prying eyes and cameras before whispering, “Have you tried calling the backup phone?”
“Not yet,” Yin Ya replied softly. “I just dropped my stuff at home and came down.”
“Let’s try calling first and see if we can get through,” Cen Xiang suggested. “If we can’t reach her, we’ll go to the police station to report it.”
“But she probably won’t answer anyway!” Yin Ya pointed out.
“Don’t underestimate your Big Villain,” Cen Xiang said with a shake of her head. “If she really took the backup phone, she’ll definitely try to contact you. For example, if she sees something so intriguing she can’t resist buying it, she’ll need to reach you to make the purchase, right?”
“Possible. I did warn her that she needs to pay for things,” Yin Ya said. Then another possibility struck her, and she gasped, “Oh no! Don’t tell me she thinks she can just pay with the phone itself?!”
“If you’re always using your phone to order things and pay for them, that wouldn’t be surprising,” Cen Xiang said, torn between laughter and exasperation. “Forget it. Just call her first.”
Yin Ya quickly dialed. The phone rang only a few seconds before it was answered!
“What do you want?” Cang Lanyan’s voice came through the receiver, strangely husky over the phone.
Yin Ya shot Cen Xiang a startled glance and stammered, “Wh-where did you answer the call… through a message?”
“Where there are no humans,” Cang Lanyan answered, then asked, “What exactly do you need?”
“I just… I just wanted to remind you that you can’t pay with your phone there,” Yin Ya quickly explained. “Which area are you in? I’ll come get you!”
“No need,” Cang Lanyan replied. Then a sharp burst of static crackled through the line.
Yin Ya instinctively covered her ears, wondering what had happened over there with the Big Villain. When she looked up, she found someone had appeared beside her.
The woman was wearing the exact same down jacket, thermal pants, and canvas shoes as Yin Ya. Her jet-black, slightly curled hair cascaded down her back, and she held Yin Ya’s spare phone. She stood before Yin Ya, her amber eyes giving her a mild look.
“…Cang Lanyan?” After holding each other’s gaze for a few seconds, Yin Ya called out uncertainly.
The woman nodded slightly and held out the still-connected spare phone. She glanced at Cen Xiang, who stood nearby, dumbfounded, and frowned slightly.
“Uh, you two talk. I was just passing by!” Cen Xiang snapped out of her daze after being glared at, hastily offering a lame excuse and trying to make her escape. But she felt an invisible force pinning her in place.
“You greeted her with an embrace and spoke for so long,” Cang Lanyan said, her voice icy. “A passerby?”
“She’s my friend!” Yin Ya quickly jumped in to smooth things over. “A really, really good friend! She’s been by my side since we were little! It’s just… just seeing you was such a surprise, she was afraid of interrupting our conversation, so…”
Her explanation trailed off incoherently, her voice growing softer as Cang Lanyan’s gaze remained fixed on Cen Xiang.
