“Tired?”

“No, not tired. Seeing you, I’m not tired at all.”

Ning Xin had been afraid her trip would be in vain, but now that she saw Shen Qingzhi, all her exhaustion disappeared.

Shen Qingzhi moved Ning Xin’s pillow, stretched out her arm, and brought Ning Xin into her embrace. For the past few days in the military camp, she had only smelled the stench of men. Ning Xin was a small, soft, and fragrant little person, which was wonderful.

Ning Xin wasn’t sure what came over her to just dive into Shen Qingzhi’s embrace. It would be incredibly awkward to leave now, so she decided it was better to just stay nestled in Shen Qingzhi’s arms. Shen Qingzhi… she smelled so nice.

Maybe Shen Qingzhi’s embrace really did have some kind of magic because Ning Xin fell asleep in no time. Shen Qingzhi truly didn’t want to let Ning Xin go, but her arm would go numb and that would be inconvenient. Ning Xin would also be unhappy if she knew. So, she gently placed Ning Xin back on the pillow and watched her quietly.

Ning Xin coming to see her gave her a new sense of confidence in their potential relationship. At the very least, knowing her feelings and still being willing to sleep with her and let her be held meant Ning Xin didn’t dislike her. As long as Ning Xin was willing, she would be willing to risk her life to fight for a future for them. It would be worth it.
