The Ultra-Alpha School Hunk Has Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Omega! - Chapter 25
With nearly an hour left before school ended after the sports meet, Xu Lei entered the classroom to handle some business. Looking at the class, which was clearly too restless to settle down, he let out a sigh.
The remaining time was originally intended for self-study, but the students’ minds were still wandering out on the playground. To force them into a study session now felt like asking the impossible. Xu Lei checked the clock and saw that less than half an hour remained.
“You may arrange the remaining time freely,” Xu Lei announced. “I will not stay here to supervise your studies. However, there is one condition: you must keep your voices down. If you attract the attention of the Grade Dean, I will be forced to personally monitor your self-study next time.”
The entire class cheered in unison, “Long live Teacher Xu!”
Xu Lei smiled and made a shushing gesture. Once the room finally quieted down, he picked up his large tea mug and departed.
The moment he left, the classroom became noisy again, though everyone made an effort to whisper. With the door closed, almost no sound could be heard from the hallway.
Li Tianrui’s excitement had yet to subside. When he had gone up to accept his award, he had nearly been moved to tears. Since returning to his seat, he had become a total devotee of Jiang Mosen, praising him from every conceivable angle. Eventually, his compliments became increasingly ridiculous.
“Brother Jiang, your feet are those of a celestial being. They do not belong to this mortal realm at all,” Li Tianrui gushed. “Right now, I only want to sweep the path ahead of you clean, lest the ground defiles your divine feet.”
Jiang Mosen’s face darkened with exasperation. Unable to take any more, he directly chased Li Tianrui away.
Ji Cenzhou, sitting nearby, could not stop laughing. Jiang Mosen gave him a helpless look and said, “That is enough. I would like to keep some of my dignity.”
“Celestial feet,” Ji Cenzhou wheezed, laughing so hard he could barely catch his breath. “How does Li Tianrui have such a vivid imagination? How does he even come up with phrases like that?”
Jiang Mosen waited for Ji Cenzhou to finish laughing before asking, “Was it you who read that encouragement draft for me over the broadcast?”
Ji Cenzhou caught his breath and replied, “It was me. I promised to write a draft for you, so I had to make sure the follow-up work was handled. I thought about it for a long time. The only way to ensure my draft was read exactly when you were competing was to do it myself. It took a lot of effort to successfully sneak into the broadcast station.”
Ji Cenzhou wore an expression of deep reflection as if reminiscing about his great hardships. He raised an eyebrow at Jiang Mosen and teased, “So? Are you satisfied with the draft I wrote, Your Majesty?”
Jiang Mosen smiled, playing along with the joke. “I am very satisfied. I shall reward you by having you attend to my chambers tonight.”
Ji Cenzhou laughed and cursed, “Get lost!”
Wang Hao happened to walk by and overheard that last part. He stood in the aisle, looking completely stunned. Bai Yu, who was blocked behind him, gave Wang Hao a shove. “Why are you blocking the way? People behind you cannot get past.”
Wang Hao turned around and said blankly to Bai Yu, “Brother Jiang said he wants Brother Ji to attend to his chambers tonight.”
Bai Yu was shocked. He rushed over immediately. Not daring to be too blunt, he said timidly, “Monitor, our Little Jiji is still just a child. Please, let him go.”
Jiang Mosen’s gaze shifted between Bai Yu and Ji Cenzhou. “Little Jiji?”
Ji Cenzhou, not realizing the double meaning at first, spat out a disdainful retort, “I am not little! You are the one who is little!”
Jiang Mosen smirked. “In what way am I little? Have you ever seen it?”
As a man, Ji Cenzhou could not stand such a provocation. He immediately challenged him, “You are not convinced? Fine! Let us go to the restroom and compare right now!”
Terrified, Bai Yu quickly held him back, thinking to himself, “My dear Ji, please stop seeking your own death. If the day ever comes where you are devoured completely, it will probably be because you provoked it yourself.”
Jiang Mosen did not push the joke too far and offered him a graceful exit. “Alright, you are big. You are bigger than me, okay?”
Ji Cenzhou nodded, finally satisfied.
Wang Hao had a loose tongue, and within moments, Li Tianrui had also heard about the “attending the chambers” comment. Li Tianrui chimed in, “Brother Jiang, if you are looking for someone to attend to you, do you think someone like me could catch your eye?”
Jiang Mosen looked Li Tianrui up and down and said, “Someone like you would only end up in the Palace Punishment Department.”
Li Tianrui rubbed his head. “I suppose it is better to be the Emperor oneself.”
After some banter, he finally remembered why he had come over. “Should we hang out this weekend?”
Wang Hao and Bai Yu responded immediately, and Ji Cenzhou did not hesitate to say he would go. Since Ji Cenzhou was going, Jiang Mosen naturally agreed as well.
Li Tianrui nodded. “That makes five of us. I will go ask if anyone else wants to join.”
As it turned out, most people’s minds were not yet back on their studies. Upon hearing about a weekend outing, many responded enthusiastically. Because so many people wanted to join, it turned into a full-scale class gathering.
Since it was such a large group, they needed a formal excuse. Li Tianrui wandered over to the calendar at the front of the class. At the beginning of the semester, they had recorded everyone’s birthdays on it. Usually, this was just a formality, as they could not celebrate every single person’s birthday.
Upon looking, Li Tianrui found exactly what he needed. He stood on the podium and announced, “Everyone! This Sunday is the birthday of our Academic Representative! we should all come out and celebrate!”
The class cheered in agreement. The Academic Representative was the only one stunned. A literal question mark appeared over his head. Nobody had actually asked him if he wanted a celebration. He had not studied for two days because of the sports meet, and he had planned to spend the weekend catching up.
Li Tianrui walked over, threw an arm around the Academic Representative’s shoulder, and said, “Make sure you arrive early on Sunday evening. We are going to give you a proper celebration.”
The Academic Representative remained silent. Seeing everyone’s enthusiasm, he could only accept it. This was the first time in eighteen years he was being forced to have a birthday party.
Originally, the plan was just for the birthday dinner, but Bai Yu saw a viral haunted house on his phone that was rumored to be incredibly thrilling. So, the five of them agreed to visit the haunted house on Sunday afternoon before heading to the celebration.
The viral haunted house was extremely popular. A long queue stretched outside when they arrived. The five of them chatted while waiting.
Suddenly, Wang Hao spotted someone. He jerked his head down and whispered, “The person in line ahead of us looks like our school bully.”
Ji Cenzhou’s interest was piqued at the mention of a school bully. “Which one?”
Wang Hao replied, “The fifth person from the front of the line. The dark, muscular guy. I do not know his real name, but his companions call him Black Bear.”
Ji Cenzhou nodded and looked Black Bear up and down. With a buzz cut, dark skin, bulging muscles, and a fierce expression, he indeed looked quite intimidating. Ji Cenzhou moved to walk over, but Jiang Mosen caught him.
“What are you doing?” Jiang Mosen asked.
“We are all schoolmates. I thought I would introduce myself,” Ji Cenzhou said.
Bai Yu felt a massive headache coming on. “Are you going to introduce yourself to his fist? Black Bear is extremely aggressive. He hits anyone he finds unpleasant. If you go over there so abruptly, he might punch you just because he is in a bad mood. Several people in our grade have been beaten by him. I heard some tenth graders were talking behind his back, and when he found out, he and his brothers cornered them and gave them a real beating.”
Ji Cenzhou frowned. “Is he really that kind of person?”
A school bully was not supposed to act like that. A school bully should protect students from outside thugs, not bully his own schoolmates. Ji Cenzhou unilaterally decided that he had revoked Black Bear’s status as a school bully. He thought it was a disgrace to the title.
Black Bear’s group went in first. They waited another half hour before it was their turn. Before entering, Jiang Mosen asked Ji Cenzhou, “Are you afraid of ghosts?”
Ji Cenzhou thought about it and nodded honestly.
Jiang Mosen asked, “You are afraid of ghosts, yet you dared to come?”
Ji Cenzhou laughed. “Because it is thrilling!”
He had never been to a haunted house before and had no idea what to expect. He had watched horror movies alone at home, however, and they usually left him jumping around and screaming in terror. Even though he was afraid, it did not stop him from coming. A man has to seek excitement.
Jiang Mosen looked down at him and said, “If you get scared later, stay close to me.”
But this time, Ji Cenzhou refused. Being afraid was one thing, but seeking help was another. “I am afraid of ghosts, but I am not a coward. I will not come to you for comfort.”
Jiang Mosen laughed helplessly. In his mind, being afraid was nearly the same as being a coward in this context. He really wanted to crack open Ji Cenzhou’s head to see what was inside.
Just as Ji Cenzhou finished his brave talk, he was met with a blast of cold, eerie wind. Ji Cenzhou was momentarily speechless. Looking into the pitch-black entrance, he felt both terrified and excited as his adrenaline spiked.
Wang Hao remarked, “The atmosphere in this haunted house is really realistic. This was money well spent.”
The five continued inside. It was so dark they could not see each other. If someone suddenly went missing, no one would notice. Jiang Mosen kept a close watch on Ji Cenzhou. He was not worried about him getting lost because even if he could not see him, he could smell the faint scent of his pheromones. He stayed on the outside of the path, ready in case something jumped out to scare Ji Cenzhou.
They entered a narrow corridor where at most three people could walk abreast. Hidden speakers played the sound of whistling wind, occasionally punctuated by ghostly shrieks.
Bai Yu, being brave, criticized the experience. “It is not very realistic. That ghost scream was too gentle.”
The corridor widened, and the group moved forward. As if signaling danger, the screams around them grew more piercing. After walking a while, they saw a faint, flickering red light ahead. Ji Cenzhou squinted and realized there was a bridge in the light.
The bridge was entirely black and made of an unknown material. At first glance, it looked normal, but closer inspection revealed that the gaps between the floorboards were unusually large. Ji Cenzhou walked over and looked beneath the bridge. In the red light, he saw countless arms. Some were just skeletons, while others still had rotting flesh, reaching upward and dripping with blood like vengeful spirits trying to drag people into hell. The ghost hands could reach the bridge. It was obvious that anyone walking across would have their feet grabbed through the gaps.
Wang Hao and Bai Yu, being unnaturally brave, squatted by the bridge and spoke to the hands. “Brothers and sisters, did you people buy labor insurance? What if we accidentally step on you?”
The ghost hands remained silent. After a moment, a very hearty voice came from beneath the bridge. “Brother, do not worry! We are professionals. If we meet the type who starts tap-dancing out of fear, we stay far away so we do not get hurt. It is just that this bridge is getting a bit flimsy from all the use. A big, muscular guy just went across and tap-danced for so long that the bridge is still wobbling. He nearly scared us to death. By the way, are any of you heavy and afraid of ghosts? If so, we will not scare you, otherwise, this bridge really will not hold up.”
Ji Cenzhou was speechless. The thrilling and tense haunted house adventure had been turned into a talk show by Wang Hao and Bai Yu. Wang Hao was such a chatterbox that he was now discussing monthly salaries with the actor playing the ghost hand.
Ji Cenzhou crossed the bridge with a calm heart. As soon as he reached the other side, he heard the ghost actor call out, “Come back and play again sometime!”
Ji Cenzhou thought he would rather not. He could no longer look at them with a straight face.
Past the bridge was an open space. After a few steps, several swaying zombies emerged from the darkness. Ji Cenzhou shuddered on the spot, nearly turning to run. As the zombies drew closer, the other four remained expressionless. “Once you know it is just people in costumes, the fear factor drops to zero,” Wang Hao noted.
Bai Yu suggested, “Should we cooperate a bit and pretend to be scared?”
The zombies were also suffering. They put so much effort into their performance, yet they could not scare anyone. It was a real blow to their professional pride. The three zombies exchanged looks, seeing mutual helplessness in each other’s eyes. Why come to a haunted house if you are not afraid of ghosts?
The zombie on the far left spotted Ji Cenzhou, who was standing on the edge with a face full of genuine terror. It was like finding a rare treasure. He excitedly whispered to his partners, “This one is scared! Come and scare this one!”
Ji Cenzhou was stunned. He thought, “Could you people keep it down? I can hear you!”
