The True Heiress And The Fake Heiress Ended Up Together - Chapter 56
This was all the fault of a plate of crawfish.
For the rest of the meal, they ate in comfortable silence. Then, one of the girls asked, “Your girlfriend seems drunk. Do you want us to help you take her back?”
Jian Ying’an shook her head.
She planned to go straight to the hot spring resort, not back to the dormitory, so these girls couldn’t really help anyway.
Qin Mianmian’s head was resting on her shoulder, and Jian Ying’an’s arm was getting a little numb. She gently held Qin Mianmian’s head, pulling her into a half-embrace.
Drunk Qin Mianmian was very compliant, allowing Jian Ying’an to manage her.
Jian Ying’an said, “You girls should head back to the dorm first.”
It took the girl a moment to react. “Aren’t you two going back to the dorm?”
Jian Ying’an replied, “No.”
The girls exchanged glances, their expressions showing sudden understanding. They couldn’t help but whisper “Oh,” signifying that they got it.
As for what they understood, after their “Oh,” they quickly shut up, feeling a bit guilty. They rushed to pay the bill, said goodbye to Jian Ying’an, and hurriedly left, as if afraid of being silenced.
Jian Ying’an, holding Qin Mianmian’s head, moved her lips, wanting to say that they were completely innocent.
She wouldn’t take advantage of someone in that state.
In fact, it was only when Qin Mianmian was drunk that she could even admit to the “girlfriend” title.
If Qin Mianmian woke up… Jian Ying’an’s eyes darkened, and she carefully moved the person into the car.
Qin Mianmian had been drinking, and the spiciness of the crawfish made her lips look very red and full. Jian Ying’an watched for a moment, then woke Qin Mianmian up.
Qin Mianmian mumbled sleepily, “Jiejie? Are we home?”
Jian Ying’an said, “Hot springs. Want to go?”
As soon as Qin Mianmian heard they weren’t home, she buried her head again to sleep. Her brain was slow, and she couldn’t quite process what “hot springs” meant until Jian Ying’an asked if she wanted to go.
She whimpered, “Wherever Jiejie goes, I’ll go.”
That meant yes. Jian Ying’an covered her with a blanket, got in the car, closed the door, and turned on the air conditioning.
Qin Mianmian slept soundly in the back seat. Jian Ying’an’s mind, cooled by the air conditioning, became incredibly clear.
She drove straight to the hot spring resort. The next two days would be spent there trying to intercept Madam Ning, and also to avoid the Qin family.
The hot spring resort was membership-based, chosen for its secrecy and quiet, undisturbed atmosphere. Many wealthy people liked to frequent it.
Memberships were divided into three tiers: generally rich, very rich, and extremely rich. Madam Ning was in the “extremely rich” tier. Although Jian Ying’an belonged to the “very rich” tier, she couldn’t get a card without a member’s introduction.
Su Nan told Jian Ying’an to figure it out herself, as she had other things to deal with.
So, Jian Ying’an called Li Dong.
Li Dong’s parents also enjoyed coming here. Dancers often have old injuries, and hot springs are good for their health. As their daughter, Li Dong also had a membership.
“Hey! Over here, over here!” Li Dong had arrived earlier and was waving by the roadside.
She originally intended to sit in the back seat, knowing the front passenger seat belonged to Qin Mianmian, but when she opened the door, she saw Qin Mianmian asleep in the back.
Li Dong sat in the passenger seat and muttered, “You took the back seat yourself, so don’t blame me for sitting here.”
She was fully aware of Qin Mianmian’s possessiveness, and even with her asleep, she felt uneasy and had to justify herself a few times before settling down.
Li Dong asked, “I’ve been here for hours, waiting for you by the road. Why are you so slow?”
Jian Ying’an drove forward. “We ate some barbecue.”
Gulp.
Li Dong swallowed hard.
She was already starving from waiting for hours by the road, and now hearing about food, especially barbecue, made her stomach burn with discomfort, and her mouth watered incessantly.
While Jian Ying’an had entered the entertainment industry, Li Dong had followed in her parents’ footsteps, enrolling in a dance academy.
Dance students also had to control their figure! She rarely got to eat barbecue either!
Li Dong complained bitterly, “Be a decent human being!”
Jian Ying’an didn’t intend to be one; she didn’t bother to say a word. Following Li Dong’s directions, she drove the car into the underground parking garage.
Li Dong urged, “Hurry up! If you don’t get the membership card sorted soon, the parking fee is going to be expensive!”
She held up five fingers, indicating the parking fee was that high.
Li Dong asked, “Why the sudden urge to come to the hot springs?”
Jian Ying’an replied, “I want to meet Madam Ning.”
Li Dong gasped, “Madam Ning? Who? Are you planning to find a sugar mommy?!”
Li Dong turned to look at Qin Mianmian, who was still sound asleep. “Jian Ying’an, you really are something else!”
Jian Ying’an scoffed. “I’m introducing her to you.”
Li Dong sat back down. “Oh, how embarrassing. I’ll take her, then.”
Jian Ying’an was speechless.
Madam Ning had indeed gotten divorced a few years ago. She was still referred to as Madam Ning because she was so skilled that she left her husband with nothing.
The name Madam Ning was a title of respect…
She now managed the company that had originally belonged to her ex-husband, and her business was even flourishing.
Jian Ying’an said, “Fine, I’ll introduce her to you.”
Li Dong laughed a few times. “Don’t joke around. Are you meeting Madam Ning because you plan to make money?”
Jian Ying’an was silent.
Li Dong had gotten smarter.
Li Dong said, “Everyone knows you’re desperately saving up money for your future wife. But I can only help you get a membership card. The rest is up to you. If your business deal is successful…”
She paused.
“…help introduce me to a rich lady, too.”
Qin Mianmian woke up. “What rich lady?”
Li Dong replied, “We’re complimenting Jian Ying’an. With her to support you, you don’t have to work hard at all.”
Qin Mianmian was awake, but not fully. She didn’t snap back at Li Dong; she just sat in her seat, waiting for the car to park.
Her timing was perfect, saving Jian Ying’an the trouble of carrying her out of the car and allowing her to go straight to the front desk to get the card.
The lobby of the hot spring resort was very quiet; one could only hear the faint sound of running water.
This was a natural hot spring area. The air conditioning in the car had been strong, but upon entering, it felt warm and steamy.
Qin Mianmian woke up due to the heat, realizing belatedly that Jiejie had brought her to the hot springs. She looked over and saw Jian Ying’an getting her card with Li Dong’s help. She stood at the service counter, her skin delicate as porcelain, her eyes serene and bright.
Qin Mianmian’s head ached a little, but she strained her eyes to look at Jian Ying’an.
Jiejie was truly beautiful.
So clear and stunning.
Qin Mianmian stared blankly at Jian Ying’an until the two of them walked over. Only then did she snap out of it, her face flushing as she asked, “Why the sudden trip to the hot springs?”
She secretly pinched the little bit of flesh on her tummy.
Jian Ying’an said, “Let’s go back to the room.”
Qin Mianmian softly hummed in agreement.
Li Dong waved. “Well, I won’t bother you two.”
Jian Ying’an had only booked one room. She handed Qin Mianmian a key card, indicating that they would be spending the next two days here.
Qin Mianmian suddenly hiccuped.
She quickly covered her mouth. The hiccup was sudden, perhaps from fright or from eating too much that evening. As soon as she lowered her hand, another hiccup came.
Jian Ying’an still held the room card. Seeing Qin Mianmian constantly hiccupping, she suddenly called out, “Wife.”
Qin Mianmian jumped in surprise, the hiccups stopping, replaced by a full-body tremble.
What did Jiejie just call her?
Wife?
Oh my god! Wife!
Qin Mianmian’s cheeks burned. She covered her face, feeling dizzy and wondering if she was dreaming.
Otherwise, why would Jiejie suddenly call her “Wife”?
She had liked Jiejie for a long time, the kind of feeling where she never wanted to let go. She didn’t want Jiejie to belong to anyone else; she only wanted to be with Jiejie forever and ever.
Her dream had come true so quickly, without any warning.
Since when did Jiejie start having these feelings for her, too?
Qin Mianmian was overwhelmed by happiness, her brain completely crashing.
Jian Ying’an’s eyes widened slightly. “Wow, it really stopped the hiccups.”
Qin Mianmian froze.
Jian Ying’an explained, “I heard that if someone is hiccupping, scaring them can make it stop.”
She wore an expression that suggested, “This method really works, and I’m glad I remembered it.”
Qin Mianmian blinked.
Qin Mianmian asked, “Jiejie was trying to scare me?”
Unfortunately, she didn’t find it scary at all. On the contrary, finding out the truth made her feel so lost that her hands and feet turned cold.
Qin Mianmian lowered her hands, remained silent for a few seconds, snatched the room card, and dashed towards the elevator.
She had to get to the room!
She had to go soak in the hot springs!
Qin Mianmian clasped her left hand with her right, feeling the shocking coldness there.
Heh heh.
When Jian Ying’an found the room, she realized she couldn’t open the door. She tried swiping the card several times; nothing worked. The room was locked from the inside—the kind that couldn’t be opened without calling the fire department.
She had been locked out of the room by Qin Mianmian!
She was actually locked out!
Jian Ying’an’s pupils contracted in shock.
What did she do wrong?!
“Mianmian!” Jian Ying’an desperately knocked on the door.
A noise came from inside. By the sound of it, Mianmian was likely guarding the door. Jian Ying’an didn’t give up and continued knocking.
“Little bunny, little bunny, open the door…”
After a moment.
“No, no, I won’t open the door!”
“…”
The door to the next room opened, and the neighbor peered out to watch the show. “What’s wrong? Did you mess up and get kicked out?”
Jian Ying’an held the doorknob. Hearing the voice, she pulled her mask up a little higher and pretended to be tough.
“No!”
The neighbor chuckled, his eyes full of “I know exactly what’s going on.”
Keep pretending! Let’s see when the door opens. If you have the nerve, go book another room!
Jian Ying’an realized for the first time that she didn’t have the nerve. She stood in front of the door, reflecting on what she had done wrong. After thinking it over, the problem had to be that word, “Wife.”
She paced back and forth in front of the door.
Mianmian definitely wouldn’t hate her calling her “Wife.”
So… she stopped. “Since you don’t want to see me, I’ll go rest at Li Dong’s place for the night. See you tomorrow morning.”
“I hope by then, you won’t be angry anymore.”
Jian Ying’an took a few steps away, deliberately keeping her voice down, and her footsteps gradually grew lighter, sounding as if she was walking far away.
The door was suddenly thrown open. Qin Mianmian peeked her head out. “You leave!”
Then she and Jian Ying’an met eyes.
Jian Ying’an smiled. “I’m not leaving.”
Qin Mianmian was stunned.
She took a step back, ready to slam the door shut, but Jian Ying’an was quick and put her hand up to block it.
If the door were closed now, it would surely smash Jian Ying’an’s hand. Qin Mianmian couldn’t bear to hurt her and stopped in time. She looked at Jian Ying’an’s hand.
Her eyes were red.
She couldn’t outsmart Jiejie; this person was truly wicked.
Jian Ying’an pleaded helplessly, “Let me in, please.”
Standing in the doorway was genuinely embarrassing, making her look like a poor husband kicked out by his wife.
Qin Mianmian remained frozen in place. After a long pause, she finally lifted her head and looked into Jian Ying’an’s eyes.
The eyes above the mask were still so beautiful.
In contrast, her own eyes were red, making her look truly like a little bunny.
The little bunny wouldn’t open the door. She insisted on a sign of proof. “Call me what I want to hear, and I’ll open it.”
Jian Ying’an said softly, “Mianmian.”
Qin Mianmian exclaimed, “Wrong!”
The neighbor heard the commotion and opened their door again. “If you messed up, just coax her!”
Jian Ying’an’s mistake was saying “Wife,” but she believed Qin Mianmian wouldn’t be mad about that.
But calling her Mianmian was wrong. Did she really have to say “Wife” again?
If she did, and Mianmian still locked her out, what would she do?
Jian Ying’an felt wronged. After much deliberation, she propped her hand on the door, moved her lips, and whispered, “My dear Mianmian, please let me in.”
Qin Mianmian stamped her foot in frustration.
Wrong! That’s not what I wanted to hear!
