The True Heiress And The Fake Heiress Ended Up Together - Chapter 52
Jian Ying’an had no intention of merely destroying the engagement.
It was absolutely unthinkable for Qin Hang that this biological sister would be so audacious as to want to destroy the Qin family. In his opinion, the Qin family had treated Jian Ying’an reasonably well.
Reasonably well, huh.
Jian Ying’an lowered her eyes, her face filled with indifferent detachment.
This left Qin Hang completely puzzled: “You like sister, so why aren’t you planning to break the engagement so you can be with her forever? Although same-sex marriage isn’t supported in the country yet, but…”
Jian Ying’an interrupted him: “First, let me hear you call me ‘sister-in-law’.”
Qin Hang was taken aback. His face flushed red, and he absolutely couldn’t bring himself to say it. He just felt that Jian Ying’an was being demanding, even though he had offered to help!
Jian Ying’an twirled her car key, preparing to go inside and face that awful family.
In comparison, Qin Hang was still adorably foolish.
The corner of Qin Hang’s mouth twitched. He clearly understood that Jian Ying’an was looking down on him.
Four people were seated in the Qin family living room: Mr. and Mrs. Qin, Qin Wen, and Shen Jinyu.
Qin Mianmian had gone back to her room to change clothes. Jian Ying’an entered through the door, with Qin Hang following behind her. The moment she stepped into the living room, Shen Jinyu’s gaze shifted over and locked directly with Jian Ying’an’s.
This person had been abroad for so many years; the change was significant, and he seemed quite difficult to deal with.
Qin Hang muttered behind her: “Told you not to accept my help.”
Jian Ying’an walked over calmly: “Long time no see.”
Shen Jinyu seemed to have forgotten the grudges from childhood and extended his hand in a friendly manner: “Long time no see.”
The two clasped hands, both gripping tightly.
Mr. Qin’s face darkened: “That’s enough with the greetings.”
Clasping hands for so long looked inappropriate. Shen Jinyu was Qin Mianmian’s fiancé. Was Jian Ying’an getting ideas? Mr. Qin’s gaze went back and forth between the two. Shen Jinyu’s body stiffened, and he was the first to let go.
Jian Ying’an withdrew her hand and, as if nothing had happened, took out a handkerchief to wipe her hand.
Shen Jinyu: “I heard Miss Jian is quite popular domestically.”
Mr. Qin said with distaste: “Just small-time stuff; stop going out and embarrassing the Qin family.”
Jian Ying’an smiled slightly: “It’s no trouble. Everyone calls me Jian Ying’an.”
What does it have to do with your Qin family?
Mr. Qin’s expression soured even more.
His appetite had grown over the years, and the surging ambition had gradually increased his attendance at business dinners. He had developed a middle-aged beer belly and lost the youthful air of pressure, becoming somewhat comical.
Mrs. Qin at least managed to control her figure, but Mr. Qin was entirely too lazy to maintain his.
Mr. Qin glowered but didn’t want to lose his temper in front of Shen Jin’yu. He simply rebuked in a low voice: “Sit down and talk less.”
Jian Ying’an responded perfunctorily and sat comfortably on the sofa.
She could leave the Qin family at any time now and had lost the need for superficial respect.
If only Qin Mianmian weren’t still with the Qin family.
Jian Ying’an was still wiping her hand, looking like she had a severe obsession with cleanliness. Everyone knew Jian Ying’an didn’t; everyone knew she simply didn’t want to give Shen Jinyu a polite reception.
Shen Jinyu’s expression remained unchanged: “Miss Jian is still excellent.”
He seemed unfazed.
Mr. Qin let out a hearty laugh: “Jinyu is becoming increasingly magnanimous. The Shen family has a bright future.”
They moved past the topic of Jian Ying’an and chatted about recent events. Mrs. Qin occasionally interjected, then looked at Jian Ying’an, wondering what she was thinking.
The atmosphere in the living room maintained an awkward harmony.
Qin Hang finished greeting Shen Jinyu.
He didn’t dislike this person, but the thought that his sister would rarely come back if she married him made his attitude lazy.
Qin Hang sat next to Jian Ying’an: “You can reconsider.”
Jian Ying’an gave him a sidelong glance: “Reconsider what? Reconsider whether to piss off your father until he has a heart attack? I didn’t realize you were so filial.”
Qin Hang: “…” Why couldn’t Jian Ying’an be persuaded? And wasn’t that her father too?
Jian Ying’an couldn’t even be bothered to lift her head, but her ears were focused on listening to Mr. Qin and Shen Jinyu’s conversation.
They were talking about recent business deals. It was clear that Mr. Qin was impatient, while Shen Jinyu kept hedging, subtly revealing some details in the process.
Jian Ying’an drew a timeline in her mind, comparing it to her previous life.
Soon.
She planned to find time to meet with business partners; she couldn’t let Su Nan face everything alone anymore. She had to catch up with the timeline.
Qin Mianmian changed her clothes.
She wore a white gauze dress. Her cheeks were flushed pink, full of youthful and healthy vitality—the look Shen Jinyu liked.
She walked lightly. After descending the stairs, she first greeted her father and mother, then came before Shen Jinyu. Meeting his infatuated gaze, the smile on her face remained unchanged.
Just as Shen Jinyu expected her to call him “Brother Shen” like she did when she was a child, Qin Mianmian merely nodded slightly.
It looked like a greeting, but in reality, she said nothing.
Mr. Qin didn’t notice the anomaly: “Mianmian is still so shy.”
Qin Mianmian lowered her head: “It’s been a long time.”
She walked to Jian Ying’an’s side. Although she couldn’t be as intimate as usual, she still couldn’t help but sweetly call her “Sister.”
Shen Jinyu gave Jian Ying’an a long, hard look, clenching his fist.
He hadn’t wanted to stay abroad for so long. If it hadn’t been for his mistake during the variety show back then, he wouldn’t have been sent abroad by his parents.
Shen Jinyu returned to the country every year, but each time, he happened to miss Qin Mianmian, who was always traveling.
It had indeed been a long time. Qin Mianmian probably didn’t even recognize him, which explained her indifference on campus.
It doesn’t matter. He was in the same department as Qin Mianmian, so they would have more opportunities to meet. As for Jian Ying’an… let her shoot her dramas! With that thought, Shen Jinyu asked: “Does Miss Jian have a TV series to film recently?”
Jian Ying’an looked over.
Hidden beneath the skirt, Qin Mianmian grasped Jian Ying’an’s hand, clearly disliking the idea of Jian Ying’an going off to film. That would mean several months of separation again.
Shen Jinyu: “I plan to invest in a series. I wonder if Miss Jian has any recommendations. If possible, it would be best for you to star in it.”
Jian Ying’an: “Why be so formal with ‘Miss Jian’ every time?”
She rested her hand on her chin, suddenly realizing something. Could it be that Shen Jinyu still doesn’t know Qin Mianmian’s identity?
If he knew, he definitely wouldn’t want to exchange a single word with her.
Jian Ying’an: “I don’t plan to film any TV series recently.”
Shen Jinyu: “What about later?”
Jian Ying’an: “I don’t plan to for at least the next three years.”
Shen Jinyu frowned, wondering what Jian Ying’an was up to.
Qin Mianmian understood. She glanced at Mr. and Mrs. Qin and Qin Wen, then turned her head and whispered: “A movie?”
Jian Ying’an smiled meaningfully: “Want to invest?”
Qin Mianmian calculated her savings and decisively: “Invest!”
Their conversation was very quiet, so quiet that no one heard it. At least, Shen Jinyu was still saying: “Why? The entertainment industry moves so fast. Is it that Jian… that you have other plans?”
Jian Ying’an raised her head, smiling: “Because, currently, no one can afford to invest in the script I want to film.”
Mr. Qin snapped: “Nonsense!”
It was unclear who he was accusing of talking nonsense. The entire living room fell silent.
Qin Wen chuckled: “Salaries for acting are quite high now. How can it be nonsense?”
Mrs. Qin glanced sideways at her, picked up her tea, and said nothing more.
Mrs. Qin already knew about Qin Wen’s previous attempt to bring Qin Mianmian and Mu Feng together. After warning Qin Wen implicitly, Qin Wen withdrew her intentions and started frequenting the Qin house.
Each visit was for the same reason: money.
To be a member of the Qin family and embarrass them to this extent, Mrs. Qin didn’t even want to speak to her.
Mr. Qin still gave his sister a little face: “A member of the Qin family going out to be an actress! Isn’t that nonsense! Play around for a bit, but how long do you plan to keep playing?”
A member of the Qin family?
Qin Wen widened her eyes. Did her brother actually consider Jian Ying’an a member of the Qin family?
Jian Ying’an’s expression was one of disgust, as if she had stepped on a leech.
Elder Qin has passed away.
With his death, the Qin family lost its last bit of heritage, calculating profits all day long, becoming no different from a nouveau riche.
Now, no one could restrain Mr. Qin. To put it plainly, he had become overly arrogant, thinking he was at the pinnacle of power.
His thoughts were utterly insane.
He wouldn’t acknowledge his own biological daughter, yet felt ashamed that his daughter was out there embarrassing him. He truly should be dragged to the hospital.
Mrs. Qin put down her teacup: “Enough. Jinyu is rarely home.”
Mr. Qin restrained his expression: “You’re right.”
They hadn’t called Qin Mianmian back from school just to talk about this.
It was for Shen Jinyu.
Now that Shen Jinyu was back in the country, the matter of the engagement needed to be discussed. Mr. Qin was confident, firmly believing that Shen Jinyu would like Qin Mianmian.
Since that is the case.
Mr. Qin: “Jinyu can spend more time with Mianmian during this trip home.”
Qin Mianmian’s expression showed a subtle shift, somewhat resembling Jian Ying’an’s usual indifference.
Mr. Qin still didn’t realize that Qin Mianmian had already distanced herself from him. He still saw her as the obedient daughter she was at six years old: “Mianmian, take Jinyu out and have fun. He just returned and isn’t familiar with many places.”
Shen Jinyu smiled, his attitude naturally softening, looking slightly expectant.
Qin Mianmian opened her mouth, then nodded, displaying a smile, and answered in a bland tone: “Okay.”
She smiled and tilted her head. A strand of hair near her ear moved, revealing a small, delicate ear. She looked cute and charming, yet her eyes were devoid of emotion. But no one noticed.
Because her external appearance was too perfect.
Jian Ying’an whispered: “Mianmian, if you don’t want to agree, you don’t have to.”
Qin Mianmian’s grip on Jian Ying’an’s hand tightened, revealing her inner distress.
She felt she was being treated as merchandise, clearly priced, and sold for a good price under the guise of affection.
How could she hold a daughter’s respect for Mr. Qin?
Mr. Qin was a scumbag who wouldn’t even acknowledge his own biological daughter.
All of Qin Mianmian’s grievances circled in her heart, transforming into sympathy for Jian Ying’an. She knew what Jian Ying’an was doing. Jian Ying’an was constantly planning how to break free from the Qin family. If Jian Ying’an said the word, she, too, could leave everything behind and follow Jian Ying’an.
But the words that reached her lips turned into gentle compliance.
If she followed Jian Ying’an now, the Qin family would certainly take action, and she didn’t want to cause trouble for her sister.
At least, I can buy my sister some time.
She looked forward to the day when she could be with her sister unreservedly, without caring what anyone else thought.
Upon hearing Qin Mianmian’s answer, Shen Jinyu relaxed and continued to talk to Mr. Qin about the business deal they were discussing earlier, intentionally or unintentionally conveying the message that the Shen family could help.
He was thanking Mr. Qin for his assistance.
It seemed quite laughable.
Taking advantage of Shen Jinyu’s conversation with Mr. Qin.
Qin Mianmian turned her head, dropped all her smiles, and spoke with a pitiful look: “Sister, will you take me away?”
I will do my best to buy Sister time. Will Sister take me away then?
Jian Ying’an: “I can take you away right now.”
She wasn’t joking. She hadn’t returned with Qin Mianmian just to watch the show.
She simply wanted to back Mianmian up.
Jian Ying’an twitched her fingers, then stood up directly, interrupting Mr. Qin and Shen Jinyu’s conversation: “I haven’t had any free time recently either.”
Mr. Qin and Shen Jinyu looked over.
Mr. Qin thought: Whether you have free time or not, what’s that to me?
Shen Jinyu felt a sense of foreboding.
Jian Ying’an pulled Qin Mianmian up from the sofa. Qin Mianmian hadn’t reacted yet, staring at Jian Ying’an with a startled expression.
Jian Ying’an: “So, I’m taking Mianmian out to have some fun first.”
“Enjoy yourselves.”
With that, she led Qin Mianmian straight out of the Qin house, ignoring the voices behind them, tightly clasping Mianmian’s hand.
The air outside was slightly cool. Jian Ying’an laughed softly.
Qin Mianmian smiled along.
Jian Ying’an: “I should have stood up earlier.”
Qin Mianmian shook her head, smiling as she looked at her: “Sister, are you abducting me?”
“Sister, are you going to steal me away?”
