The True Heiress And The Fake Heiress Ended Up Together - Chapter 27
Early in the morning, when the sky was still dimly lit.
Jian Ying’an opened her eyes, woken up by the quacking of a group of ducks.
Qin Mianmian was sleeping soundly beside Jian Ying’an. She hugged her quilt, occasionally letting out a giggle. Jian Ying’an glanced at her, stepped over her, and looked out the window at the ducks.
The ducks, some white and some grey, were quacking incessantly.
Last night, it was Qin Mianmian’s first time seeing fireflies, and she was excited for hours, falling asleep very late.
But Jian Ying’an was already too annoyed to sleep.
She got out of bed and saw the camera hanging overhead. Jian Ying’an frowned, thinking she hadn’t noticed it last night, or else she would have covered it with clothes.
The house by the river was really not that great. Jian Ying’an was looking for peace and quiet, but the lights didn’t even work, and so early in the morning, people were already letting out their ducks.
Amidst the chorus of quacking, Jian Ying’an picked up a disposable cup and toothbrush and went to the bathroom to wash up.
While looking in the mirror, she wondered what the recording schedule was for today.
It’s not easy to earn money.
After Jian Ying’an finished washing up, Qin Mianmian still hadn’t woken up. Jian Ying’an stood outside watching the ducks foraging by the river, and the thought of eating roast duck crossed her mind.
As soon as the time came, the live stream started.
The audience first opened the window for the two little darlings, only to find Qin Mianmian lying in bed. This didn’t stop them from showering her with compliments.
“Mianmian is so cute even when she’s sleeping~”
“Her hair is all messy from sleeping. She takes after me, alas!”
“Where’s An’an?”
“An’an must be preparing breakfast.”
“She has to raise Mianmian~ Life is tough, An’an sighs.”
Jian Ying’an still didn’t go and catch a duck; eating roast duck first thing in the morning didn’t seem quite right.
She found the kitchen and discovered there was some rice and a few eggs inside. She wasn’t sure if the production crew had specially prepared them or if they were leftovers that hadn’t been cleared away.
This family used a gas stove, which made cooking much simpler.
Jian Ying’an cooked porridge and made a fried egg.
When the sun was high in the sky, she carried the breakfast into the room.
Whether it was her imagination or not, Jian Ying’an felt that the camera was a little off, as if someone was watching them through the lens.
In any case, they had been watched for so long, she would just cover it up tonight.
Jian Ying’an woke Qin Mianmian up: “Mianmian, wake up and eat breakfast.”
Qin Mianmian turned over and started to dawdle in bed.
This turn brought her face-to-face with the sunlight, causing Qin Mianmian to instantly wake up. She sat up in bed, looking around blankly, then at Jian Ying’an, with a look of “Who am I, where am I?”
The Qin family did not allow Mianmian to dawdle in bed; the maid would wake her up when it was time.
This was the first time Mianmian had woken up so late.
Qin Mianmian began to feel that this kind of time was wonderful, she could even dawdle in bed. She hugged the quilt and acted spoiled: “Sister, feed me.”
Jian Ying’an wasn’t going to indulge her.
“Get up, brush your teeth, wash your face, and eat breakfast.”
Qin Mianmian obediently complied.
The viewers, unaware that the live stream would be unavailable tomorrow morning, were all chatting.
“This feels like raising a little wife.”
“Isn’t ‘raising’ charming?”
“Charming! It’s truly charming that the wife’s personality is decided by me! Unfortunately, I was young and foolish, and now I’m an old aunt.”
“An’an has foresight.”
“An’an has foresight +1”
The audience watched as Qin Mianmian, like a little wife, obediently washed up and then went to eat breakfast.
Only the small house by the river had this kind of treatment. The other groups had a chaotic, frantic start to the morning, taking a long time just to get the little guests to wash their faces, let alone eat breakfast.
When they arrived at the gathering point, most people were hungry.
This included the fussy Shen Jinyu.
He looked at Qin Mianmian.
His mother had told him that she had already arranged things with the production crew, and all he had to do was find an opportunity to get close to Mianmian.
That way, the whole country would know that Mianmian was his “wife.”
Thinking of this, Shen Jinyu’s earlier moodiness vanished: “Mianmian, did you eat breakfast?”
Qin Mianmian was holding a leaf, embracing her freedom away from the Qin family: “Yes, I did.”
Shen Jinyu suddenly didn’t know how to respond.
He was stunned, stood dumbfounded for a while, and then awkwardly managed to say: “Oh, I didn’t either.”
Qin Mianmian looked at him suspiciously. Was Shen Jinyu sleep-deprived?
Ji Han also couldn’t bear to watch.
Oh, little master, did Madam Shen not teach you everything?
Jian Ying’an looked at him like he was an idiot. Her adult composure prevented her from saying too much. She simply led Qin Mianmian away, lest they be infected by Shen Jinyu’s silliness.
After everyone had arrived, Ye Zhou pretended to ask: “Good morning, did you eat breakfast?”
Shen Jinyu subconsciously answered: “No.”
Only after answering did he regretfully shut up. Mianmian had eaten, and he hadn’t. It must be his fault.
Why did he answer the director!
It’s all the director’s fault for not preparing breakfast!
If the butler of the Shen family were like this director, he would have been fired long ago!
Ye Zhou was delighted: “Oh, some children are disobedient and don’t eat breakfast. That’s not good!”
“This way you’ll get stomach problems in the future!”
“When you get a stomach problem, there will be little bugs crawling inside your stomach. Are you scared~”
A little guest retorted: “Director, you’re lying! Stomach problems aren’t caused by little bugs in the stomach!”
Ye Zhou was slightly surprised: “Oh? Then what is it?”
He hadn’t expected such a clumsy lie wouldn’t fool the children. There was no sense of accomplishment.
Children nowadays are taught a lot by their parents.
Even though they were only six years old, they already understood many small facts and were not easy to fool.
Since they were hard to fool, Ye Zhou got straight to the point: “Our mission this morning is still to find food, but this time, we don’t need to look for villagers.”
He held the microphone and explained the rules.
The little guests were responsible for guessing riddles, and the adults were responsible for playing an idiom chain game. The winning team could move one step forward and get priority in selecting ingredients. Today’s food would be obtained through this mission.
Jian Ying’an looked down, seemingly dozing off, but was actually too lazy to listen.
This time, she couldn’t be on the same team as Qin Mianmian. Ye Zhou didn’t allow her to participate in the idiom chain game.
Jiang An’an finally had a chance to complete a mission with Qin Mianmian, although she felt quite good staying by herself yesterday…
As for Qi Yin, he had already told Jian Ying’an beforehand: “You probably won’t get anything good to eat today.”
Jian Ying’an: “…”
Qi Yin: “…”
Jian Ying’an looked at Qin Mianmian. She had already bonded with Jiang An’an, and the two were rubbing their fists, ready to take on the mission.
She then looked at the useless person next to her.
Jian Ying’an walked over: “Did you see the pork and mushrooms? Prioritize those two. The small wooden house by the river has seasonings and rice. If possible, pick a vegetable too.”
Jiang An’an recalled Jian Ying’an’s cooking skills: “Okay!”
Qin Mianmian also raised her hand: “Okay!”
Just like that, Jian Ying’an successfully joined their team.
Qi Yin: “…”
The competition officially began.
Shen Jinyu was in a bad mood because he was hungry. He saw the bread in the ingredients area and immediately said to Ji Han: “Don’t lose!”
Ji Han didn’t dare to lose either, so he could only hope that Shen Jinyu was quick-witted.
Qin Mianmian stood beside Jian Ying’an: “Sister, can you give me hints later?”
Jian Ying’an: “Sure.”
Qin Mianmian gave Jian Ying’an a smile, a small dimple appearing on her cheek, excessively sweet.
The sun was a bit glaring.
Jian Ying’an squinted, instinctively thinking that Mianmian couldn’t be allowed to get a tan. Her fair complexion was lovely, so she reached out to shield her from the sun.
Qin Mianmian leaned closer to Jian Ying’an, allowing Jian Ying’an to block the sun more easily.
Those who knew what was happening saw her shielding her from the sun, but those who didn’t… might have thought they were showing public displays of affection.
The audience was charmed by the two children.
“They will definitely end up together when they grow up!”
“Yes, otherwise, it won’t be a good ending for us!”
“But thinking about An’an’s parents…”
“Alas, there’s still no conclusion, and the production crew hasn’t responded.”
“Let’s not dwell on that issue. An’an is living very happily now!”
“With little darling Mianmian around, An’an will be happy!”
Happy?
Jian Ying’an squinted her eyes, not happy at all.
To accommodate six-year-olds, the riddles were very simple. The adults wished they could rush up and answer themselves. Jian Ying’an was with Qin Mianmian. She would whisper a sentence, and Qin Mianmian would immediately raise her little hand high.
Ye Zhou looked at the two of them cheating, wanting to say something but stopping himself.
As a result, Jian Ying’an’s team slowed down.
Shen Jinyu moved straight ahead, being the fastest to reach the finish line. He originally wanted to take the bread, but noticing Qin Mianmian’s gaze, he gritted his teeth and chose rice.
He didn’t want to continue being childish. Anything Jian Ying’an could do, he could do too!
Ye Zhou: “Alright, Shen Jinyu chose rice.”
However, Shen Jinyu couldn’t lift it at all.
He struggled to pick up the rice bag, took two steps, and was already panting. He had to put it down on the ground to rest.
Qin Mianmian: “Why did he choose rice?”
Jian Ying’an didn’t take it seriously: “Maybe he likes it.”
Qin Mianmian continued: “But wouldn’t it be better for an adult to choose the rice?”
Yes, it would.
Jian Ying’an stifled a laugh, finding Qin Mianmian’s serious expression too adorable.
She began to pat her head.
At this moment, a burst of shouts erupted from the adults’ side.
It turned out that Shen Jinyu insisted on trying to carry the rice out, but the bag ripped, and the rice spilled all over the ground. He stared blankly at the rice on the floor and finally couldn’t hold it in, bursting into tears.
He had never suffered such injustice!
He cried in his heart!
Jian Ying’an found it amusing. She put down her hand: “Mianmian, go and comfort him.”
Otherwise, it would be difficult for Mianmian to explain to the Qin couple.
Jian Ying’an stood still, detached from the frantic crowd.
She watched indifferently as a large group of people surrounded Shen Jinyu, all trying to comfort the little master. Qin Mianmian walked over, and the crowd automatically parted a way for her.
Qin Mianmian walked up to Shen Jinyu: “Good children shouldn’t cry.”
This was what Madam Qin used to tell Qin Mianmian.
Now, Qin Mianmian was telling the same thing to Shen Jinyu.
Shen Jinyu sniffled twice and stopped crying.
Everyone started praising Qin Mianmian, saying she was great, that she cared for her little friend, and knew how to comfort people. As they said this, they turned their heads and saw Jian Ying’an standing where she was.
They couldn’t speak anymore…
Jian Ying’an had been indifferent the entire time. Noticing that everyone was looking at her, she lazily raised her eyes: “Oh, is it done?”
This made everyone feel a little awkward.
Qin Mianmian ran over. After completing the task, she sought praise: “Sister, I comforted him!”
Jian Ying’an praised her: “Mianmian is truly great.”
Qin Mianmian smiled happily. Jian Ying’an’s praise was more important and made her happier than anyone else’s!
Ye Zhou started to smooth things over: “Children don’t need to push themselves. You can ask an adult for help.”
Ji Han forced himself to ask: “What about the rice?”
It was all spilled on the ground and couldn’t be eaten.
Ye Zhou: “…Of course, the production crew will prepare a new portion for you! Haha, this is an accident. The production crew wouldn’t be so stingy.”
If Ji Han hadn’t asked, he really would have pretended not to notice.
Shen Jinyu didn’t care about the rice anymore.
He got first place and went back to the starting point to begin again. This time, he didn’t have a competitive spirit and started to wonder.
Why was nothing he did going smoothly?
