The True Heiress And The Fake Heiress Ended Up Together - Chapter 22
Jian Ying’an and Qin Mianmian walked into the village, followed by a little tag-along.
The village had beautiful scenery but was sparsely populated. A few elderly people sat outside their homes, chatting softly. As soon as Qin Mianmian glanced over, a large yellow dog rushed out of a courtyard, barking fiercely at the outsiders.
Qin Mianmian was terrified and kept hiding behind Jian Ying’an.
Jian Ying’an remained calm, neither fearing the dog nor paying it any mind. The big yellow dog barked a few times and then quieted down.
The arrival of the film crew brought a lot of excitement to the village.
The guests were walking in groups, but Jian Ying’an didn’t run into anyone else. Facing the curious elderly villagers, she looked around and finally spotted a middle-aged woman.
Middle-aged women are usually easier to talk to than the elderly, so Jian Ying’an approached her to express their desire to borrow a kitchen and purchase ingredients.
Before long, she took out a hundred yuan, and the deal was struck.
It was effortless.
For anyone, not making money when offered is foolish, especially since Jian Ying’an only wanted to borrow the kitchen.
The middle-aged woman wasn’t foolish. Rural people grow vegetables, which aren’t worth much, and even if they needed flour, eggs, and sugar—Jian Ying’an was offering one hundred yuan!
The middle-aged woman stood up and led the way for them.
Jiang An Yan hadn’t expected Jian Ying’an to settle things so quickly: “Your sister is so amazing!”
Qin Mianmian’s nose practically turned up: “Of course!”
After saying that, she found Jiang An Yan much more agreeable and less scary. Since this older sister had great taste and recognized her sister’s capability, Qin Mianmian reluctantly accepted her company.
Qin Mianmian instructed: “You can come with us, but you can’t cause trouble!”
Jiang An Yan: “…”
We’re the same team!
As the embarrassing adult, Jiang An Yan tried her best not to cause trouble, following behind Jian Ying’an.
When they arrived at the middle-aged woman’s house, she discovered a new problem.
This family was more accustomed to using an earthen stove than a gas stove. But Jiang An Yan didn’t even know how to cook, let alone tend a fire. The middle-aged woman left after lending them the kitchen, and Jiang An Yan couldn’t possibly push all the work onto Jian Ying’an.
No matter how capable she was, she was only a six-year-old child.
Jiang An Yan was in a difficult position.
She worriedly looked at the earthen stove and tentatively reached for the firewood, but she was clumsy and ended up cutting her hand.
Jiang An Yan: “…”
She wasn’t afraid of the pain; she was just more embarrassed.
Especially when Qin Mianmian noticed, she put her hands on her hips and scolded: “Didn’t I say not to cause trouble?”
Jian Ying’an was looking for ingredients. Since they didn’t have all the tools, making a small cake would be difficult, and she hadn’t noticed the commotion over there.
The earthen stove was tall, too high for a six-year-old. She moved a small stool over, stood on it steadily, and her movements immediately looked very practiced.
Because the nanny had feared the child-swapping would be exposed, she hid Jian Ying’an in the countryside. That’s why she knew how to do this.
However, the memories from her past life were a bit hazy for the current Jian Ying’an. She thought back for a moment.
Because the nanny often didn’t feed her, Jian Ying’an had been forced to learn how to cook using an earthen stove, but if even Jiang An Yan could be cut by firewood, how could a small child have remained safe?
She had been burned before, and without burn cream, she could only soak her hand in the water vat.
The nanny had hit her when she came back, accusing her of stealing.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Jian Ying’an saw Qin Mianmian holding Jiang An Yan’s hand and blowing on it vigorously.
While blowing, she mimicked an adult scolding: “You get hurt so easily and are so clumsy, don’t cause trouble for Sister! Sister and I are enough for the kitchen!”
Jiang An Yan felt ashamed, but she also wanted to say, Aren’t you also pampered? What help can you be if you stay?
But just as she thought that, Jian Ying’an called Qin Mianmian over.
Jiang An Yan: “…”
Hearing the call, Qin Mianmian heartlessly dropped Jiang An Yan and ran over: “Sister!”
She looked at her sister, who was standing on the small stool, with clear eyes that made Jian Ying’an sigh.
Jian Ying’an said: “Don’t run around.”
Jiang An Yan: They’re just standing outside the door, where is the running around?
Qin Mianmian didn’t care about that: “Okay! I won’t run around, I’ll follow Sister!”
With that, Qin Mianmian stood in the kitchen and didn’t go anywhere or touch anything.
She was much more helpful than Jiang An Yan.
If Qin Mianmian hadn’t been a little unsuited to the country kitchen, she would have been waving her hands and cheering for Jian Ying’an, acting as a cheerleading squad!
Jian Ying’an cracked eggs into a bowl.
Using the eggshell to separate the egg white, she added sugar. Without other tools, she used chopsticks to whisk, but that was too slow. She couldn’t possibly let Qin Mianmian starve for several hours just for a small cake.
Jian Ying’an thought for a moment, then reluctantly called Jiang An Yan in: “You whisk the eggs.”
Jiang An Yan thought they were making scrambled eggs with tomatoes or something similar, so she took the bowl without complaint, but Jian Ying’an said: “Whisk it into cream. If you don’t know how, ask me.”
“…”
Qin Mianmian watched Jiang An Yan start working and said gloomily: “Don’t spill it.”
Jiang An Yan: “…”
In the kitchen, there were eggplants and small fish caught from the lake, so they just needed to add a soup.
Jian Ying’an began to work in an organized manner.
Chopping vegetables, frying fish, boiling soup…
The camera squeezed in to film, occasionally capturing Jiang An Yan’s struggles whisking the cream.
And Qin Mianmian was also able to help with small things. For instance, if it was inconvenient for Jian Ying’an to move around while standing on the stool, she would ask Qin Mianmian to hand her things. Qin Mianmian was eager to help her sister.
Two dishes and one soup were soon ready.
As for rice? The village used those wooden bucket rice cookers, and usually, there was leftover rice that wasn’t finished in one meal.
Jian Ying’an didn’t mind leftover rice, and as long as she didn’t mention it, Qin Mianmian wouldn’t know, so she made fried rice, adding some chopped green onions, which smelled delicious.
Jiang An Yan’s arm was aching, and the aroma of the food made her very hungry.
Jian Ying’an said: “Keep going, don’t stop.”
If she stopped, the cream wouldn’t form, and all the effort would be wasted.
The staff had their own food, and Jian Ying’an hadn’t considered them from the start. But Qin Mianmian didn’t know that! She offered a bowl of rice to the cameraman.
The little sweetheart held the bowl high: “Uncle, don’t starve.”
Cameraman: “…He’s so adorable!”
Even though it was only fried rice with no other dishes, he ate happily, thinking that Jian Ying’an’s cooking skills were genuinely good, and she was only six years old.
I’m going to spank my son when I get back!
The two little girls ate around the small table. It’s common for people in the countryside to keep cats and dogs, and while they were eating, an orange cat came over.
It looked at the two human cubs and was too shy to ask for food.
So, the orange cat paced over to the cameraman.
The cameraman showed the orange cat the empty bowl in his hand.
Jiang An Yan, who was still stubbornly whisking the cream, was confused.
Why do I have to whisk the cream?
Fortunately, Jian Ying’an wasn’t that heartless. After finishing her meal, she replaced Jiang An Yan, the disappointing adult, and skillfully whisked the cream at a speed significantly faster than Jiang An Yan’s.
They finished their meal very smoothly.
The other side was not so smooth.
Shen Jinyu looked at Ji Han with a dark expression: “I’m not going in!”
It was dirty inside; why should he go in!
Ji Han: “Little master, you’ll starve if you don’t eat!”
