The Transmigrated Princess - Chapter 31
Helpless, Gu Qing could only think of a compromise. “Then how about I help you bathe while blindfolded?”
Xie Zhizhen pondered for a moment and nodded, finding the idea acceptable.
Gu Qing found a red satin ribbon to cover her eyes.
Plunged into darkness, she could no longer discern directions. Fortunately, she still remembered Xie Zhizhen’s position. Reaching out, her fingers brushed against soft, delicate skin, causing her cheeks to flush slightly as she moved downward.
When she touched the cotton fabric, Gu Qing relaxed inwardly finally, she had found it. Following the direction of Xie Zhizhen’s hand, she helped remove the inner garment.
Just as she was about to take a deep breath and proceed to remove the undergarment, Xie Zhizhen stopped her. “I’ll handle the rest myself.”
Her fair fingertips tugged lightly at the red ribbon, and the crimson undergarment embroidered with mandarin ducks slipped to the ground, revealing pale, flawless skin. The sight of those full, snow-white curves was enough to make one’s heart race.
Yet, in this breathtaking scene, the only person who could appreciate it was blindfolded.
Only after Xie Zhizhen had shed the last of her garments did she remember to check whether Gu Qing could see. She waved a hand in front of Gu Qing’s face and, receiving no reaction, finally stepped into the water.
The clear water was strewn with delicate pink peach blossoms. The moment Xie Zhizhen saw them, she couldn’t resist the urge to play.
Cupping the petals in her hands, she tossed them upward, splashing water that sprayed onto Gu Qing. Xie Zhizhen laughed like a carefree child, utterly delighted.
Feeling the droplets on her skin and hearing Xie Zhizhen’s laughter, Gu Qing wiped her cheek helplessly. “Stop playing. Once you’re done bathing, you can go to sleep.”
Xie Zhizhen, caught up in her fun, pouted in displeasure at being scolded. But something about Gu Qing’s tone made her feel like a child being reprimanded by an adult, so she didn’t dare protest though, sadly, Gu Qing couldn’t see her aggrieved expression.
Listening carefully, Gu Qing finally heard the sound of Xie Zhizhen bathing properly rather than playing, so she let her be.
A wedding night, a bridal chamber, an intimate space, and the beloved undressing for a bath such a combination was bound to stir restless thoughts.
Gu Qing was only human. Even blindfolded, her imagination ran wild.
She recalled the other day when Xie Zhizhen had embraced her wearing only an undergarment.
That tender, snow-white skin, the vivid red mole she longed to nip at it someday.
The silky texture, the soft curves, the coy expressions.
Everything about Xie Zhizhen, inside and out, captivated Gu Qing.
The shared scent of peach blossoms on their skin made it seem as though the two had already merged into one.
At this thought, Gu Qing’s lips curled slightly. She had already grown accustomed to her kisses taking the next step was only a matter of time.
After a while, when no more splashing sounds reached her ears, Gu Qing tentatively called out, “Zhizhen?”
Rubbing her eyes, Xie Zhizhen murmured sleepily, “Gu Qing, I’m so tired.”
After a long, exhausting day, having eaten a little and drunk some wine, drowsiness was inevitable. Gu Qing couldn’t help but chuckle. “Then dry yourself quickly, and you can go to bed.”
Relying on instinct, Gu Qing picked up the cotton cloth nearby and handed it to Xie Zhizhen.
Finding Gu Qing’s reasoning sound, Xie Zhizhen nodded and stepped out of the tub, accepting the cloth to dry herself.
But she was simply too exhausted. Rubbing her eyes, her legs gave way beneath her, and she nearly collapsed to the ground. Fortunately, Gu Qing reacted swiftly, reaching out to steady her in time.
The skin beneath her fingers was still slightly damp with lingering water droplets, feeling entirely different from before.
Hmm? The texture was quite unusual.
This was the first time Gu Qing had experienced such a sensation not the soft, pillowy fullness like freshly steamed buns, but the delicate smoothness of the tender flesh around a slender waist.
She tentatively gave a little pinch, and then was met with another slap.
Xie Zhizhen reacted almost reflexively, delivering a sharp slap. Even in her drunken state, she knew a girl’s bottom wasn’t something to be casually squeezed.
“You scoundrel!”
Gu Qing touched her stinging cheek. Admittedly, this slap was much heavier than the previous one, but by now, she had realized what that unusual sensation had been.
This slap wasn’t entirely undeserved.
Xie Zhizhen huffily pulled herself out of Gu Qing’s embrace, her anger fueling a rare moment of clarity. With a burst of determination, she dressed herself properly, ignoring Gu Qing entirely, and went straight to bed.
Her movements were far from subtle, and Gu Qing heard every one of them. Removing the silk blindfold from her eyes, Gu Qing looked at her hand, flexing her fingers slightly with an amused smirk.
She walked over to the bed, where Xie Zhizhen had already settled in. The crimson bedding accentuated her fair complexion, and listening to her shallow breaths, Gu Qing assumed she had fallen asleep. Without hesitation, she lay down beside her, ready to sleep as well.
The next moment, a small foot jabbed into her waist.
Thankfully, Gu Qing reacted quickly, arching her back and swiftly flipping over to pin Xie Zhizhen beneath her. Before Xie Zhizhen could throw a punch, Gu Qing restrained her wrists, grinning cheekily. “Zhizhen, I was wrong earlier. I didn’t mean to, it’s just that you were about to fall, and I couldn’t just let you drop, could I?”
Xie Zhizhen blinked in confusion, not quite understanding what Gu Qing was saying. “What happened earlier? When did I fall?”
Gu Qing: “…”
Drunk Xie Zhizhen truly had the memory of a goldfish seven seconds at most.
Before Gu Qing could explain, Xie Zhizhen’s brows furrowed, her eyes widening. By the time Gu Qing sensed trouble, Xie Zhizhen had already burst into tears.
“Waaah, who are you? Why are you in my chamber?! Gu Qing! Auntie! Zhi Bai! Where are you? Waaah!” she sobbed between hiccups. “There’s a scoundrel trying to take advantage of me! Zhizhen is so scared!”
Gu Qing leaned in closer. “Zhizhen, it’s me, Gu Qing. Look carefully?”
At that, Xie Zhizhen stopped crying and scrutinized the face before her only to burst into tears again, this time with a hint of accusation. “Gu Qing, where have you been?! There was a scoundrel trying to take advantage of me just now!”
Could Gu Qing admit that the so-called “scoundrel” was herself?
Of course not.
She released Xie Zhizhen’s wrists and pulled her into an embrace instead. “It’s alright, it’s alright. I chased that person away already. Be good now, Zhizhen. Let’s sleep, okay?”
Xie Zhizhen clung to Gu Qing tightly. “Okay, but you can’t leave. You have to stay with me.”
It seemed she was still wary of that “scoundrel.”
Gu Qing naturally wouldn’t refuse. After all, this was their bridal chamber, why would she leave?
The two shared the same red pillow, nestled under the same crimson quilt. Gu Qing’s arm draped over Xie Zhizhen’s slender waist, while Xie Zhizhen clung to Gu Qing like an octopus, refusing to let go.
Though the position was a bit odd, they could still be considered sleeping in each other’s arms.
The next day.
When Xie Zhizhen woke up, her head still felt slightly dizzy. The events of the previous night surged into her mind like a tide.
Slaps, crying, tantrums, unreasonableness.
Was that really her last night?!
Xie Zhizhen was somewhat unwilling to admit it. Covering her face, she felt too embarrassed to face anyone. Fortunately, Sujuan and the other maids hadn’t witnessed it otherwise, she wouldn’t have known how to face them.
But Gu Qing saw everything, ahhhhh!
Gu Qing had woken up earlier and gone to exercise, a habit ingrained from her long years in the military camp.
No matter the circumstances, she never allowed herself to slack off.
After finishing her workout, she fetched a basin of water. Upon entering, she saw Xie Zhizhen burying her face in the bedding, hands covering her head. Amused, Gu Qing teased, “Are you trying to suffocate yourself?”
Hearing Gu Qing’s voice, Xie Zhizhen lifted her head and immediately noticed a faint but distinct slap mark on Gu Qing’s fair cheek.
Without thinking, she blurted out, “Why is there only one slap mark?”
