Tao Wan and Si Yan grew up together. From childhood, Si Yan was always that “perfect child” everyone compared her to. If Tao Wan scored a 90, Si Yan scored a 98. If Tao Wan won a dance award, Si Yan took the gold medal in a physics competition. Even on the way to school, Si Yan was always a few minutes ahead, waiting at the intersection every day for Tao Wan so they could walk together.
Tao Wan hated Si Yan. She hated her excellence, hated how her mother constantly compared them, and hated that she could never catch up. So, she ran away. During the winter break of her freshman year in high school, Tao Wan successfully transferred to become a dance student. She thought they would eventually become strangers.
Little did she know, they would not only end up at the same university but also become roommates in a shared apartment.
During the first week after Si Yan moved in, Tao Wan found her annoying in every possible way. She intended to make life difficult for Si Yan, but the other woman turned out to be diligent, clean, respectful of boundaries, and—most importantly—an incredible cook. Smelling the mouth-watering aroma wafting from the kitchen, Tao Wan’s pride crumbled as she swallowed her saliva.
As the saying goes, “one’s mouth is short when eating another’s food.” Between the free meals and the favors, Tao Wan’s heart was unknowingly softened. Si Yan was beautiful and had a great personality, always looking at her with such tenderness that Tao Wan found herself quite enjoying the attention.
Sitting side-by-side on the sofa, Tao Wan took the initiative to bring up the past. “I forgive you.” Si Yan turned to look at her, her face appearing flawless under the warm lights, her focus entirely on the girl beside her. Tao Wan smiled freely. “It’s good to see that you lived a good life even without me.”
“No, Tao Wan,” Si Yan blinked, a crystal tear rolling down her exquisite face. “Without you, my life hasn’t been good at all.”
Now that they were “friends” again, Tao Wan faced a new dilemma: Should they be as clingy as they were as kids? Or keep a certain distance? Are they just roommates? Or best friends? What she never expected was that Si Yan actually wanted to kiss her! Wait… Lovers?!!!
