The Transmigrated Cannon Fodder Alpha: She's So Sweet Now! - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: A Good Cry
Previously, because she had too few points, Jiang Ningzhi hadn’t properly browsed the system mall. Now, as a “little rich woman” with a 610-point fortune—and a human-shaped money tree like her soft, beautiful wife nearby—she reconsidered her needs.
She focused on pills that could strengthen her physique, increase power, and stabilize her mind. If the original script said she would be “angered to death,” she would first turn herself into a physically healthy adult with stable emotions.
Item: First-Order Body Tempering Pill Effect: Nourishes the physical body, strengthens resistance. Mild effect with no side effects. Contains a trace of spiritual energy to improve physique for martial arts. Cost: 370 Points
“Hiss—” Despite being prepared, seeing that one pill cost over half her points made her heart ache. But thinking of the “Script Kill” in six days, she obediently made the exchange.
Next, she looked at the Basic Heart-Clearing Pill. At 30 points for a bottle of six, it was a bargain.
With 210 points left, she thought: A lion uses its full strength even when hunting a rabbit. She needed to be over-prepared.
“Zhe Xiu,” she called. A black shadow appeared. “Bring the best doctor in the capital, but don’t involve the Imperial Hospital. Do it discreetly.”
After Zhe Xiu left, Jiang Ningzhi called for the Manor Steward. She needed to purge any hidden threats. The steward, a middle-aged Zhongyong (Beta) gifted by the Empress, seemed respectful, but Jiang Ningzhi felt an instinctive unease.
“The manor’s affairs must now be handed over to the Consort,” she ordered. “Bring the ledgers to her and have all sub-managers report to her.”
The Money Tree Wife
As lunch approached, Jiang Ningzhi realized she had neglected her new bride all morning. She rushed toward the study like an excited puppy.
Inside, Chi Luoyao was painting, appearing completely absorbed. “Your Highness,” the maid Shuang’er greeted. “You’re here?” Chi Luoyao smiled, noticing Ningzhi’s slightly heaving chest and the faint sweat on her brow. “Is it hot today?”
“Mhm, yes, it’s quite hot outside,” Ningzhi lied. It was mid-April and the spring chill was still biting. Chi Luoyao didn’t expose her, only telling her to carry an umbrella next time.
“Did the two Highnesses want something?” Chi Luoyao asked about the morning visitors. “Nothing, they were just bored,” Ningzhi replied, pulling Luoyao down to sit. She couldn’t stop staring at her wife.
“Is there something you want to say to me?” Luoyao asked. “No… I just can’t believe I married such a beautiful and gentle Kunze. It feels like a dream.”
Shuang’er snickered at how “silly” the Seventh Princess was, earning a look from Luoyao. “Your Highness looks flushed today,” Luoyao noted. “Is your body feeling better?”
“Mhm! Thanks to Luoyao, I feel much better.” This was the truth—intimacy with Luoyao had earned her the points for the medicine.
“How does it have anything to do with me?” Luoyao asked, puzzled. “Your very existence is the greatest help to me,” Ningzhi said earnestly. (As a protagonist, a cheat code, and a wife, she added mentally). Luoyao’s ears turned red at the blunt praise.
Tears Over Lunch
During lunch, Jiang Ningzhi barely ate, instead piling food onto Chi Luoyao’s plate, silently noting what she liked and disliked.
Watching her, Ningzhi suddenly felt a wave of emotion. In her past life, she grew up in an orphanage, fighting for every meal. After the Director died, she had spent years eating alone in a cold house.
“Your Highness, what’s wrong?” Chi Luoyao asked in a panic. Tears were streaming down Jiang Ningzhi’s face like a broken dam.
“The… the food is just too delicious,” Ningzhi choked out.
Chi Luoyao put down her chopsticks and stood up, pulling Jiang Ningzhi into a gentle embrace. She patted her back rhythmically without saying a word.
Jiang Ningzhi buried her face in Chi Luoyao’s chest and gripped her slender waist. For the first time since the Director’s death, she let herself wail.
“Waaaaah…”
