The Tough Guy Forced To Become The Broodmother - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: The Death of the Fox
Luo Jia and the Sled Three Idiots arrived at the Lost City.
Alaskan whispered, “I heard the City Lord here is quite formidable, though no one knows which race he belongs to.”
Luo Jia thought to himself: I don’t know either, I just know I might have tried to seduce him in the past and failed miserably.
Samoyed warned, “Human, keep your hood up. The folks here are known to kidnap and sell pretty boys.”
Luo Jia nodded; he was very good at taking advice.
They stopped in front of the Fox’s shop. “What’s wrong?” Er-Ha asked.
Samoyed looked at Luo Jia. “Maybe the human shouldn’t come in with us. If the Fox gets a bad idea about him…”
Luo Jia interjected, “Don’t worry about me. Focus on how to get your collars back.”
Alaskan whispered, “The Red Fox contacted us saying she knew where the collars were, but we don’t have the money to buy the info. Since we targeted the wrong person, she definitely won’t give us the news for free.”
Er-Ha said, “We’ll just have to negotiate a new deal with her.”
Samoyed and Alaskan agreed this was the only way. Samoyed turned to Luo Jia: “Human, stay out here. If she asks for you as part of the deal, we’re in big trouble.”
“Eh? Me?” Luo Jia was incredulous.
Alaskan nodded. “Yes. You’re too good-looking, and foxes are cunning.”
Er-Ha added, “Human, wait right here. Don’t move until we come back for you.”
“Alright, alright.” Luo Jia’s eyes were already wandering toward the roadside vendors. After a few more nagging warnings to trust no one, the three dogs disappeared into the crowd.
Luo Jia pulled his cloak tight, hiding his face, and began browsing the stalls.
Mechas? Truly a future world… Energy cores… Wait, what is that smell? So sweet. The scent was similar to the small golden stone he’d encountered before, but much more potent.
Luo Jia immediately forgot the dogs’ warnings and followed his nose. He soon found the source: a sign that read Star-Crystal Energy Sales Point.
Clearly, these weren’t meant to be eaten. However, his physical instinct forced him to push the door open and walk inside. The shady figures following him from the shadows retreated, unwilling to enter that specific shop.
Inside, it was dark except for one brightly lit spot. A middle-aged man sat there, hunched over, carving something. He held a glowing, transparent stone, and with every stroke of his chisel, tiny fragments sparkled like stardust.
So beautiful… Luo Jia stared intently.
As he watched, the stardust-like powder entered his lungs with every breath. Luo Jia felt his body begin to burn. His heart started thumping erratically. Behind his neck, something felt as though it were growing—pulsing and throbbing.
Feeling overwhelmed and unwell, Luo Jia quietly slipped out and considerately closed the door. After he left, the man stopped carving, glanced at the door, and then went back to work.
“Hah? You three failed the mission?” Madam Red Fox hadn’t expected these three idiots to succeed anyway; she just wanted free labor. “Then how do you have the nerve to ask me for the collars?”
Samoyed said, “We want to negotiate a new deal.”
“There are no such rules here,” the Fox said, leaning back. “But, since we’re both Beast-kin, I’ll give you one chance. Work for me for a hundred years, and the collars are yours. Deal?”
“You!! Er-Ha’s fangs bared instantly.
The bodyguards pointed their energy guns at the trio. “Careful now,” the Fox giggled. “These guns don’t have eyes. It wouldn’t be pretty if someone got hurt.”
Alaskan felt a wave of relief that they hadn’t brought the human inside—otherwise, he’d be trapped here with them.
Suddenly, the door opened. A youth in a pink military uniform with a flower behind his ear walked in, smiling. “Excuse me, have you seen our property?”
Madam Red Fox’s fur stood on end. She hadn’t sensed his presence at all!
The guards swung their guns toward the newcomer. Eros smiled. “I can feel it. Our property stayed here recently. Tell me, Fox, where is it?”
That uniform… that pink hair… the Zerg Legion. The Fox turned pale. She hadn’t expected the “bugs” to find her so quickly.
She scrambled off her chair and bowed. “Your property is no longer here! Someone stole it! But I know who has information on it. I’ll give you the surveillance footage immediately…”
She was sensible. Eros found her somewhat interesting. She played the footage, keeping her head low. This Zerg didn’t seem too difficult to talk to; he didn’t radiate killing intent…
“Tsk.” Eros finished watching. He reached out and stroked the Fox’s hair. “Your fur looks quite nice.”
In an instant— The Fox’s head was sliced clean off. Not a single drop of blood sprayed. Her face still wore an expression of disbelief.
“I’ll take this back to Mother for a cushion,” Eros chirped.
The room was silent. The bodyguards were already on the floor, their tongues cut out, writhing in silent agony. Eros put a finger to his lips. “Shh… I don’t like it when it’s too noisy.”
The Sled Three Idiots were so terrified they could barely maintain their human forms.
Astra walked in, glancing at the corpse. “Did you get the info? Mother won’t like something this bloody.”
Eros tucked the pelt away. “I’ll process it first; Mother won’t know. By the way, the Human General is also looking for our property. It seems the thief is closely related to the Empire. Let’s find that human, kill him, and then head to the border to give them a warning.”
Astra’s dark eyes swept the room. “Clean up the witnesses. Anyone who has touched our treasure deserves to die.”
The three dogs were on the verge of fainting. They never imagined they’d run into the Zerg here.
Astra’s scorpion tail rose, its venomous stinger ready. Suddenly, he caught a scent. Just a faint trace of it made him feel a long-lost sense of relaxation.
“Hm? Why aren’t you moving?” Eros asked. He saw Astra staring fixedly at the three dog-headed Beastmen. “Haha, you’re not thinking of using such low-grade pelts for Mother’s cushion, are you?”
Astra ignored him. He stepped toward Er-Ha because the scent was coming from him. Without asking, he thrust his mental power directly into their brains.
