- Chapter 15 - The Great Deceiver
The bathroom door clicked shut, finally cutting off the momentary awkwardness.
Only then did it occur to Yan Xun that he seemed to have forgotten an important question. Wait, how did he end up in a hotel with Bai Yang, and why were they sleeping in the same bed? He clearly remembered falling asleep in the car last night.
However, for Yan Xun right now, that was not the most pressing issue. He looked down at the source of his embarrassment and let out another groan of despair.
“Dammit!”
That thing of his was usually perfectly fine. Why did it act like it was broken every time he ran into Bai Yang? Could it be that something was actually wrong with his body? The more Yan Xun thought about it, the more panicked he became.
He took a quick shower, and after finishing his morning routine, he stepped out to find Bai Yang dressed neatly, sitting on the sofa by the window and smoking a cigarette. Yan Xun walked over and sat down in front of him, hesitating with an expression that screamed he had something to say but found it hard to voice.
Bai Yang took a drag of his cigarette. “Do you want to ask if I really have a way to help you?”
Yan Xun nodded, bracing himself, and asked in a low voice, “Brother, have you ever had this kind of experience before?”
Bai Yang remained unfazed. “Which kind?”
Yan Xun wished he could find a hole to crawl into. “Just, just like what happened to me just now, that, that situation.”
Bai Yang acted as if he had just realized. “Oh, you mean premature ex—”
“I do not have that!”
Yan Xun corrected him righteously, absolutely refusing to let himself be branded with such a label. Bai Yang patted his head affectionately. “Right, you do not have it. You do not have it. Do not worry.”
Initially, Yan Xun had been somewhat resistant to having his head patted, but he had gradually grown used to it; now, he barely even noticed. Besides, his mind was occupied with more important things. “How can I not worry? If that thing is ruined, how am I supposed to find a wife in the future?”
Bai Yang remarked, “Find a wife? You are thinking quite far ahead.”
Yan Xun did not notice the displeased tone in his voice. He leaned closer to him and asked shamelessly, “So, Brother, do you actually have a way? Right, with your connections, you must know plenty of medical experts in this field. Why do you not introduce me to one?”
Bai Yang countered, “Would you really feel comfortable seeing a doctor? After all, hospitals keep records. The doctor would document your condition. If your future wife ever discovered those medical records, would you be able to show your face?”
Hearing this, Yan Xun’s face froze.
Bai Yang continued, “I once had a friend who had the same symptoms as you. You could try the method he used.”
Yan Xun asked eagerly, “What method?”
Bai Yang bluffed with a straight face. “Have you heard of Functional Training?”
Yan Xun thought about it. “Functional training? Like a method to restore original function after an injury through training? Is that not for external injuries?”
Bai Yang interrupted him. “Actually, all roads lead to the same destination. My friend was cured using this method.”
With a successful case as a precedent, it was naturally easy to believe. Perhaps it was because Bai Yang had seemed trustworthy since they first met, so when he mentioned this method, Yan Xun truly saw a glimmer of hope in it.
“Then, should I give it a try?”
As a young college student, courage to try new things was the one thing Yan Xun did not lack. Once he made up his mind, he did not hesitate. “Brother, how does your friend’s method work? Is it simple?”
Bai Yang said, “Well, it is simple enough, but…” He looked somewhat hesitant.
Yan Xun urged him, “Brother, just say what is on your mind. Treating this is important; I can handle it.”
Bai Yang nodded and spoke in a deep voice. “Functional training, as the name implies, requires a lot of practice. You increase duration and endurance through repeated adaptation. As for the method, other than not being able to do it yourself, there is nothing particularly special about it.”
They were subtle words, but the clever Yan Xun understood. Yan Xun’s lips twitched awkwardly. He understood the concept of more practice; after all, for a guy his age, who had not handled things themselves?
However, “Why can I not do it myself?”
Bai Yang seemed to be waiting for him to ask this very question, so he replied unhurriedly, “Based on your past experience, is everything normal when you do it yourself?”
Yan Xun: “Yes.”
Bai Yang: “And is that thing of yours for your own use in the future, or for someone else’s? Unless you plan to handle things yourself for the rest of your life, you will definitely be using it with someone else, right?”
Yan Xun: “Right.”
Bai Yang: “Therefore, doing it yourself does not provide any training effect. You must have someone else help you.”
It sounded so logical that Yan Xun actually could not find a way to refute it. After a brief moment of contemplation, Yan Xun scratched his head irritably. “But for this kind of thing, who am I supposed to find to help with the training? I do not have a girlfriend. If I ask those dogs in my dorm, would my heroic reputation not be ruined?”
He knew exactly how those idiots in his dorm would mock him. Bai Yang remained silent, appearing to be troubled on his behalf. Yan Xun let out a dejected sigh. After a long while, he timidly looked up at Bai Yang and called out pleadingly, “Brother.”
Bai Yang coughed awkwardly twice. “I, I would not be very appropriate, would I?”
Yan Xun grabbed Bai Yang’s arm excitedly. “Brother! You are the most appropriate person!”
Bai Yang raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
Yan Xun explained, “I have already lost face twice in front of you anyway. It does not seem that much harder to accept if you see me lose face a few more times. Besides, I realized you have a superb character! Not only did you not mock me when I lost face twice, but you even comforted me! You are such a true buddy! I trust you!”
Upon hearing this, the corners of Bai Yang’s mouth lifted slightly, but he quickly hid the smile and shook his head. “I am very happy that you trust me. But I have never helped anyone with this kind of training before. I do not really know how.”
Hearing this, Yan Xun immediately said, “What does that matter? If you do not know, we can learn together!”
Bai Yang feigned shock. “How do we learn?”
Yan Xun gave a wicked grin. “Look for it online! Leave that to me. I will find a few films later, and we can study them together!”
Since things had reached this point and the prey had walked into the trap on its own, Bai Yang concealed the glint in his eyes and reluctantly nodded in agreement.
Seeing him nod, Yan Xun let out a sigh of relief. He gave Bai Yang a heavy pat on the shoulder. “Brother! The happiness of the rest of my life depends on you!”
Bai Yang: “Well, I will do my best.” After a pause, he added hesitantly, “However, let us agree beforehand. Since this kind of thing is inconvenient for outsiders to know, we must keep it a secret.”
Yan Xun raised his hand and vowed, “That is a must! Only you and I will know about this; I will never let a third person find out!”
Bai Yang felt even more at ease and flashed a gentle smile. Once the method was settled, Yan Xun stood up abruptly, clutching his waistband as he looked at Bai Yang.
“Brother, how about we give it a try right now?”
