- Chapter 10 - Washing a Fish
Xie Yu jolted awake in a flash. Looking at Pei Yan, who was standing a few meters away, his face turned deathly pale. “Brother… I’m sorry… please don’t leave.”
He stood up, struggling to climb out of bed.
Unable to watch any longer, Pei Yan held him down. “That’s enough. Stop moving. I don’t blame you.”
Xie Yu paused. “Really?”
Pei Yan sat down again. Seizing the opportunity, Xie Yu leaned his head against Pei Yan’s shoulder, his voice deep and hoarse. “Brother, ignore those other people. Look only at me, okay?”
Warm breath brushed against his collarbone, tingling. As Pei Yan moved slightly, Xie Yu reached out and dominantly locked his arms around Pei Yan’s waist. Those arms were like iron bars—immovable and unyielding.
What is wrong with him?
Does getting injured make a person this fragile?
However, perhaps it was the Alpha genes acting up, but ignoring Xie Yu’s massive physique and his attributes, having a fragile beauty throw himself into his arms and act spoiled was actually quite endearing to Pei Yan.
Consequently, Pei Yan’s heart softened. He followed along with Xie Yu’s words, saying, “Alright, alright… I’ll only look at you…”
Xie Yu slowly raised his head. The corners of his eyes were bloodshot, and his gaze overflowed with an explosive sense of possessiveness.
He would not allow anyone to lay a finger on his brother!
Pei Yan gently patted his back. “There, there.”
This comforting session lasted until evening.
Pei Yan moved his aching shoulders.
As expected, he wasn’t cut out for this “comforting” business. It was too exhausting.
“Alright, you can let go now.”
He signaled for Xie Yu to release him.
Xie Yu stubbornly replied, “No!”
As he spoke, the strength in his arms tightened even further.
Damn it!
Strangled by the grip, Pei Yan said with difficulty, “Then you aren’t going to bathe?”
“Bathe?” Xie Yu repeated with confusion.
“Yeah. I was the one who wiped you down the last two days. You don’t need it today?”
Xie Yu immediately let go and said firmly, “I need it!”
Pei Yan: “…”
He went to the kitchen, fetched some hot water, mixed it with cold water, and after testing the temperature with his hand, brought it into the room.
Xie Yu had already unbuttoned his clothes, looking at Pei Yan expectantly.
Pei Yan was speechless.
He walked over, placed the water on a nearby low table, soaked a towel, wrung it dry, and handed it to Xie Yu. “Your hands should be fine. You can wash yourself, right?”
Xie Yu moved his arms and hissed, “It seems… not very good.”
Pei Yan was speechless again.
Then where did that immense strength come from when you were hugging me this afternoon?
He didn’t bother to expose Xie Yu. He took the towel, leaned in, and gave Xie Yu’s face a rough wipe.
After the wiping, Xie Yu’s hair was quite a mess.
Xie Yu pursed his lips. Brother is still the same brother—not a single ounce of gentleness or delicacy.
Pei Yan went back to the basin to wet the towel and wring it. When he turned back, he paused for a second.
For the previous two nights, Xie Yu had been peacefully unconscious with his eyes closed. Now that he was awake, wiping his body under that burning gaze was somewhat awkward.
“Brother, what’s wrong?” Xie Yu urged.
Pei Yan comforted himself.
It’s fine. Just think of it as washing a fish.
Who has feelings for a fish they’re washing?
With that thought, his awkwardness vanished. He pulled Xie Yu’s clothes halfway down. The originally hideous wounds had already scabbed over; it seemed the merman’s self-healing ability was indeed powerful.
He took the towel and wiped Xie Yu bit by bit. His gaze was focused and his movements were cautious, for fear of hurting him.
However, to Xie Yu, this careful and deliberate wiping—stroke by stroke—made his heart skip beat after beat.
“Does it still hurt?” Pei Yan asked.
Xie Yu originally intended to say it didn’t, but seeing Pei Yan’s concerned expression, he immediately changed his tune. “It hurts. It hurts so much. How about Brother blows on it?”
He said this with the intention of teasing Pei Yan. Seeing Pei Yan fall silent, he was about to say he was only joking, but to his surprise, Pei Yan actually leaned toward the wound and gently blew on it.
This was an immense trial for Xie Yu.
Furthermore, Pei Yan looked up while blowing and asked, “Does it hurt?”
Xie Yu’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He couldn’t hold back at all.
He cupped Pei Yan’s face with both hands and leaned in for an aggressive kiss.
The expected struggle didn’t happen. Instead, Pei Yan submissively accepted the kiss.
This sent Xie Yu into a frenzy of excitement. He clung to Pei Yan, kissing him here and there for over ten minutes.
Eventually, Pei Yan couldn’t take it anymore. He pushed away the person who was acting up on his body. His eyes were flushed and his lips were swollen as he glared at Xie Yu.
“The water has gone cold!”
That glare made Xie Yu excited again, but he knew he couldn’t rush things now.
Brother had finally started to accept him. Whether it was out of love or gratitude, he was starting to be more proactive. He had to be careful and obedient now, or it would be bad if he made his brother feel repulsed.
In the end, Xie Yu got out of bed himself to fetch water for his bath.
Lying on the bed panting, Pei Yan closed his eyes.
Damn it, you little brat!
Early the next morning, after the group had finished washing up, the water in the vat had reached the bottom. Pei Yan picked up two buckets, preparing to go to the village well to fetch water.
Qi Lan had intended to let Mo Lu go, but Pei Yan firmly refused. They had already been staying and eating for free for several days. Now that their bodies were recovered, they naturally had to do more chores.
Unexpectedly, Xie Yu snatched the buckets away. “How can I let Brother do this kind of work? I’ll go.”
Pei Yan asked, “Do you know where the well is?”
“Brother can just come with me.”
Pei Yan said expressionlessly, “Actually, I don’t know either.”
At that moment, little Yang, who was carrying his schoolbag and preparing to go to school next door, greeted them. “Big Brother, Brother, what are you planning to do?”
Pei Yan said, “We’re going to fetch water.”
“To the well? It’s on my way to school. Big Brother, come with me.”
Pei Yan’s eyes lit up. “Then thank you, Yang, for leading the way.”
Little Yang skipped along the way. Pei Yan asked, “Is going to school that exciting?”
Little Yang replied, “Of course! Only by learning knowledge can I protect everyone when I grow up.”
He hadn’t expected such a high level of ideological awareness from such a young child. Pei Yan leaned over and patted his head. “You will definitely be able to achieve your wish when you grow up.”
Little Yang nodded heavily. “Mm!”
Xie Yu leaned in. “Brother, my wish is to protect you.”
Pei Yan’s heart skipped a beat. “You already protected me.”
Xie Yu shook his head. “That’s not enough. I want to protect Brother forever.”
“…”
Pei Yan took a few large steps forward. “Alright, I get it.”
Upon arriving at the well, Pei Yan discovered it was built near the school. Little Yang waved goodbye and ran inside, quickly blending in with his classmates.
Xie Yu stood by the well, feeling helpless. “Brother, how do you do this?”
Just as Pei Yan was about to crouch down, he heard a dainty voice.
“Are you two here to fetch water?”
He looked up. It was an Omega with a clean-cut appearance, but his eyes were glued to Xie Yu. The admiration and attraction in his gaze were undisguised.
Pei Yan suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable. However, his gaze fell on the child beside the Omega; perhaps he was already married.
The next second, he heard the Omega explain, “Oh, this child is my younger brother. I’m seeing him off to school.”
Pei Yan: “…”
Once the child entered the school, the Omega pushed Pei Yan aside. He used the public rope kept by the well to tie the bucket handle, dropped it into the well, gave it a light flick, and the bucket was filled.
He pulled it up and said to Xie Yu, “That’s how you do it.”
Seeing his rude behavior toward Pei Yan, Xie Yu didn’t want to give him a friendly face. But when he noticed Pei Yan staring at the Omega with a slightly hostile look, he changed his mind.
He let out a shallow smile and said to the Omega, “Then… thank you.”
With his face, a slight smile was a weapon of mass destruction.
The Omega’s cheeks flushed instantly. “It’s nothing… it’s nothing.”
Pei Yan: “…”
Following the Omega’s method, Xie Yu filled the other bucket. The Omega immediately circled around him, clapping. “Impressive! You learned it instantly.”
Xie Yu didn’t withhold his smile. “That’s because your demonstration was good.”
The Omega’s heart raced instantly, and his gaze became dazed. Just as he wanted to say more, Pei Yan said with a cold face, “The water is ready. Let’s go.”
The Omega immediately glared at him with resentment. The look seemed to say: What’s the rush? Can’t you see we’re having a great conversation? You really have no sense!
Pei Yan ignored him and yanked Xie Yu. “Let’s go quickly. Sister-in-law must be waiting anxiously.”
Xie Yu, carrying the two buckets, was pulled so hard that he stumbled forward, spilling quite a bit of water.
“Oh my, what are you doing?!” The Omega reached out and shoved Pei Yan aside. He looked at Xie Yu with panic and concern. “Are you alright?”
Xie Yu replied politely, “I’m fine.”
The Omega turned to Pei Yan and unleashed a tirade. “What is wrong with you? Can’t you see he’s carrying two buckets? If you don’t know how to help, that’s one thing, but don’t cause trouble. Don’t you know how to be considerate?”
Pei Yan gave Xie Yu a sharp, murderous look.
Xie Yu: Did I overplay my hand?
Seeing Pei Yan didn’t react, the Omega got even angrier. Just as he was about to continue his lecture, he saw Pei Yan suddenly turn around, grab Xie Yu’s collar, pull him down, and dominantly kiss him.
The Omega stopped abruptly.
The kiss was brief. Pei Yan gave Xie Yu a cold look, then turned to the Omega. “One of us is willing to hit and the other is willing to suffer. It’s none of your business. Let’s go.”
The last three words were addressed to Xie Yu.
Xie Yu was currently immersed in the happiness of “Brother actually kissed me!” and “Brother actually kissed me in front of someone else! Brother is so domineering!” Hearing this, he picked up the buckets and followed.
However, all along the way, no matter what Xie Yu said, Pei Yan ignored him.
Back at the house, Pei Yan greeted Qi Lan and went straight into his room. Xie Yu dropped the buckets and rushed after him, only to find the door locked.
Xie Yu knocked on the door. “Brother, I was wrong.”
Mo Lu, who was carrying water to the kitchen: “…”
Kid, where was that imposing aura you had the other night?!
Qi Lan didn’t dare stay any longer. He grabbed Mo Lu and hurried into their own room.
Pei Yan leaned his back against the door. Actually, he didn’t even know why he was angry. He just felt annoyed seeing that Omega approach Xie Yu, and Xie Yu not refusing but instead smiling at him.
Clearly, Xie Yu had promised he would always be his person and would never betray him. If he betrayed him, Pei Yan would kill him!
But…
The always decisive Commander Pei was now hesitating.
After spending more than a month together, he realized he could no longer bring himself to do it.
Was he like his father, meeting the wrong person?
But that brat Xie Yu had already turned him into his exclusive Omega; he would rely on his pheromones for the rest of his life. If he ran off with someone else, would he have to live forever in the pain of having no pheromone soothing?!
At worst, we’ll just die together!
Thinking of this, he opened the door, yanked Xie Yu inside, and slammed him hard against the door.
The loud “thud” startled the two people eavesdropping in the opposite room.
Qi Lan clutched his chest and glanced at Mo Lu. “There won’t be a casualty, right?”
Mo Lu said calmly, “Why worry so much? It must be that guy Xie’s fault.”
Qi Lan: “…”
He thought so too.
