- Chapter 14 - How a Fanboy Becomes a Sugar Daddy (14)
“You’re quite something, aren’t you?” Cheng Kaixin leaned down slightly, pinching Qin Yunran’s flushed earlobe with a smile. “Reading those kinds of books and dreaming of having your way with me?”
As he drew closer, the red mark on Qin Yunran’s neck became more prominent. Though a day had passed, its vividness was amplified by his pale skin, deepening in color with time.
Looking down at Qin Yunran, Cheng Kaixin’s slightly upturned eyes held an untamed wildness, daring anyone to try and tame him, yet tempting them to stain him with even more vibrant hues.
It was clear Qin Yunran belonged to the latter category.
His throat bobbed almost imperceptibly, the heat near his ear burning like fire, searing straight to his heart and kindling an indescribable excitement and desire for conquest.
The more reserved and composed a person is in daily life, the more fiercely they burn when ignited. Qin Yunran stared intently at Cheng Kaixin, his usually clear voice now slightly husky. “Yes. I’ve wanted to cross that line for a long time.”
“I wonder if Mr. Lu will give me the chance?”
Last night, in his dream, he had called Cheng Kaixin “Ah Hua,” but now he reverted to “Mr. Lu,” his tone growing increasingly assertive and forceful. The two words lingered on his tongue, carrying a distinct undercurrent of ambiguity.
The air seemed to thicken, and the heat radiating from Cheng Kaixin’s fingertips grew scorching.
“No! No, no, no!” The System shrieked in Cheng Kaixin’s mind before he could even respond. “How could this be happening?! What’s wrong with the protagonist?! You can’t do this!”
“Why can’t I?” Cheng Kaixin asked, a smirk playing on his lips. The System’s reaction was exactly what he’d expected. He’d always been rebellious by nature; the more he was forbidden, the more determined he became. “I’ve always coveted his beauty, you know that.”
With that, he casually sat down next to Qin Yunran.
“Meow!” Maoqiu suddenly felt its fur being tugged. It glared resentfully at Qin Yunran before leaping down and scurrying away.
Qin Yunran had long since forgotten about the cat. His dark, intense gaze remained fixed on Cheng Kaixin as he slowly leaned closer.
The System, sensing it was about to be locked in the dark room, frantically warned, “Cheng Kaixin! Don’t you want to be resurrected? There are consequences for failing the mission!”
“What consequences?” Cheng Kaixin asked, his voice nonchalant.
The System conjured up the harshest punishment it could imagine: “Your soul will be annihilated!”
“To die beneath a peony flower, even as a ghost, is still a romantic fate,” Cheng Kaixin chuckled.
“Are you insane?” The System sputtered, but before it could finish its sentence, darkness swallowed its vision.
The System: “……” Damn it.
*****
After what felt like an eternity, the System’s vision flickered back to life. Heartbroken and on the verge of collapse, it peeked at the time and burst into laughter. “Pfft, ha ha ha! Is that all you could manage? You’re pathetic!”
“Why not blame him?”
“Hmph. The protagonist’s body is in peak condition. The problem’s clearly you.”
Cheng Kaixin sighed. “Such a lack of harmony.”
Both men wanted to dominate, creating utter discord. They could only end things hastily with their hands.
Qin Yunran was showering. Hearing the water cascading in the bathroom, he paced restlessly, craving a cigarette but finding none.
What a waste. He’d finally had a chance to lose his damn virginity.
Yes, regardless of Lu Jinhua’s past, this was Cheng Kaixin’s soul’s first time.
In their previous lives, both he and Lu Jinhua had been dissolute sons of powerful families. The difference was that Lu Jinhua had been raised in a gilded cage, while Cheng Kaixin had been forged in the crucible of cutthroat scheming.
From birth, Cheng Kaixin had been burdened with immense expectations. But his father, too ambitious to keep a close watch, failed to protect him. Before he was even grown, someone had sabotaged him, leaving him disfigured. As his parents frantically investigated the truth, they were both murdered.
As an orphaned son with a disfigured face, Cheng Kaixin had no chance of ever competing for anything. He became a notorious young master, spending his days playing with cats and dogs, beneath the notice of his scheming relatives.
To be honest, playing the fool while secretly plotting revenge was incredibly satisfying. The expressions on their faces when they realized the laughingstock they’d mocked had personally destroyed everything they held dear were priceless.
After savoring their shock and fury, Cheng Kaixin grew tired of the game. He simply detonated the bomb, obliterating every last one of his family’s enemies who had plotted against them, leaving no survivors.
Of course, he hadn’t been too slow to escape and accidentally killed himself. He’d simply lost interest. At twenty-seven, his obsession with beauty was ingrained in his bones, yet he’d never found a face that truly pleased him. In a moment of youthful despair, he’d decided to go out with a bang.
In hindsight, his impulsive act hadn’t been entirely without merit. Ever since meeting Qin Yunran, Cheng Kaixin had been filled with anticipation for the future. If his previous world had been devoid of beauty, surely other worlds would offer something better?
The System was deeply worried, clinging to the hope that if the two hadn’t become a couple yet, the protagonist could still be swayed back. As it racked its digital brain for a solution, Cheng Kaixin’s phone rang.
The caller ID showed Lian Weiwei’s name. The System immediately tensed up, warning, “Host, you still have time to change your mind! Lian Weiwei is definitely calling to check on the male lead. If you don’t want the mission to fail and be eliminated, give them a chance!”
Cheng Kaixin answered the phone. On the other end, Lian Weiwei snapped angrily, “Didn’t you say you’d come pick me up? I’ve been waiting all day!”
Cheng Kaixin suddenly remembered he had promised to pick her up when he was free, or send a car if he was busy. But he’d completely forgotten about it because of Qin Yunran.
“You didn’t forget, did you?” Lian Weiwei’s eyes stung with tears, a mix of anger and hurt.
“I’m sorry,” Cheng Kaixin said.
Lian Weiwei paused, took a deep breath, and mustered her courage. “Lu Jinhua, I… I really like you. Don’t you care about that at all?”
The System went into meltdown. What the hell?! What kind of dogshit plot is this?!
“Are you crazy, Cheng Kaixin? Reject her now! Crush her hopes!”
“Aren’t you an S-rank System? Can’t you be a little more composed?” Cheng Kaixin frowned. “Stop yelling, okay? I’m trying to find a tactful way to say this.”
The System shut up to listen.
Cheng Kaixin thought for a moment, then asked Lian Weiwei, “Don’t you like Qin Yunran?”
“How could I ever like him?” Lian Weiwei retorted angrily.
“Perfect,” Cheng Kaixin immediately replied. “I like him.”
Lian Weiwei paused, then said softly, “I don’t believe you. If you want to reject me, just do it. Why make up such a lame excuse?”
Cheng Kaixin walked to the bathroom door with his phone, opened it, and called inside, “Want to shower together?”
Through the sound of running water, Qin Yunran’s voice replied, “Still trying to tease me?”
Lian Weiwei hung up, crying.
System: What the hell was that supposed to be? A subtle rejection?!
The System realized it had been using increasingly vulgar language since being bound to Cheng Kaixin.
“I thought about it,” Cheng Kaixin said. “Since she likes me so much, only a complete rejection will make her give up for good.”
“Then just say you like men! Why drag the protagonist into this? They might still have a chance!”
Cheng Kaixin retorted confidently, “Qin Yunran already likes me. How could he ever be interested in anyone else?”
The System was so infuriated by Cheng Kaixin’s narcissism that it nearly cried.
A moment later, Qin Yunran emerged wrapped in a towel, his sculpted upper body glistening with water droplets. Noticing Cheng Kaixin’s gaze fixed on him, he said slowly, “Didn’t you say you wanted to shower together?”
“Didn’t I shower before you?” Cheng Kaixin asked.
Qin Yunran stared at him, speechless. Then why did you ask? He’d wasted so much time showering again.
Cheng Kaixin propped his chin on one hand, watching Qin Yunran change with leisurely interest. “Jiaxing’s finished. Why haven’t you jumped ship yet?”
In the dimly lit room, Lü Yiyan, bruised and battered, struggled to his feet only to be kicked back down by Ma Heng. “You bastard!” Ma Heng roared. “Because of your stupid plan, I’m ruined! Ruined! You said that Qin guy had no connections and hated Lu Jinhua! Now he’s got me in this state, and I can’t even find him. Lu Jinhua rescued him!”
Lü Yiyan trembled violently, his body wracked with pain.
That morning, when he’d arrived at the hotel room and found Ma Heng unconscious on the floor, he had felt a chill run through him. He’d panicked and tried to flee, but they’d caught him before he got far.
Not only had Ma Heng failed to get Qin Yunran, but Qin Yunran had left him in this miserable state.
Unable to vent his fury on Qin Yunran, Ma Heng had turned his wrath entirely on Lü Yiyan. He knew he was finished.
Sure enough, after beating him senseless, Ma Heng told his men, “Release the photos.”
Those disgusting photos would send him straight to hell. Even so, Ma Heng wouldn’t let him off… By now, Sister Li had already run as far as she could to save her own skin.
Regret churned in his chest, making him want to vomit blood. Not because he’d dragged Qin Yunran into this, but because his plan had been so poorly executed!
Lü Yiyan lifted his head in despair, staring at Ma Heng’s repulsive face. The thought that he’d never be able to use that disgusting thing again suddenly filled him with an indescribable sense of joy, and he burst into laughter.
“What are you laughing at?!” Ma Heng’s fury flared, and he kicked Lü Yiyan viciously, snarling, “Just wait till you wish you were dead! I’ll ruin your life…”
“Boss!” The man beside him suddenly held up his phone, his voice trembling. “The photos… the photos…”
Ma Heng glared impatiently. “What about the photos?”
“Along with the ones we released, there are photos of you too!”
The photos circulating online weren’t just of Lü Yiyan in compromising positions; there were also shots of Ma Heng in bed with him, his obese body pressing down on Lü Yiyan’s pale, slender frame. Even with heavy censoring, the images burned into the eyes of countless viewers.
Just as the internet was reeling from this shock, one bombshell after another exploded, sending shockwaves across social media.
Following the initial exposé, a celebrity gossip blogger suddenly dropped even more damning revelations about Ma Heng’s misconduct. Over the years, he had allegedly slept with countless Jiaxing-affiliated stars, each accusation backed by irrefutable evidence. The list included current 18th-tier internet celebrities, 3rd and 4th-tier mainstream stars, and even early-career photos of already established celebrities.
Holy shit, Jiaxing’s managers are basically pimps! Is managing talent just a side hustle for them?
If Ma Heng alone could pull off all this, how many others like him are there in the industry? Is anyone at Jiaxing clean?
That pretty boy Lü Yiyan, with his wooden acting and undeserved fame, must have climbed the ladder through shady deals. His manager, Li Jing, claims to be Jiaxing’s golden girl, but none of her artists have clean records. So that’s how she earned her title, huh?
Jiaxing’s PR team scrambled to contain the damage, paying to remove trending topics and delete press releases. But every move they made was countered, and they ultimately failed to suppress the scandal. The fallout was massive. Netizens dug deeper, following the trail of clues until the entire entertainment industry was shaken to its core.
