- The Sickly Fake Daughter, But a Beloved Darling of All
- Chapter 61 - I Want to Stay With You
Xu Chengjin and Si Yu’s chat did not last very long. After all, Wu Boran had arrived, so it wasn’t convenient for them to keep talking. They could only hurriedly say “See you later” before hanging up the phone.
“Who were you on the phone with?”
Wu Boran took a sip of soy milk and asked casually, “You looked so happy just now.”
Xu Chengjin touched her face and raised an eyebrow. “I did?”
“Yeah. Even from that far away when I saw you, I could tell you seemed to be in a good mood.”
Wu Boran took a bite of a bun and feigned unhappiness. “Is it someone very important?”
Xu Chengjin looked up and smiled, shaking her head. “It’s nothing. Let’s eat.”
“The sports meet is in a couple of days… will you come?” Wu Boran asked with some hesitation. Although she looked natural enough now, she was actually quite nervous inside. She was a bit afraid that Xu Chengjin would be unhappy or still hold a grudge against her.
Xu Chengjin was chewing on food, her cheeks puffed out and bulging, and her eyes looked very clear. “Did you sign up?”
“I did.” Speaking of this, Wu Boran was a bit proud. “The 2,000 meters, the long jump, and the relay race.”
Xu Chengjin’s eyes widened slightly, and she couldn’t help but give Wu Boran a thumbs up. “That’s amazing.”
“It’s a piece of cake.” Wu Boran had exercised since she was a child. She had been quite mischievous when she was little, often looking for people to fight with, and she almost never lost. She calmed down a lot as she grew up, but she had participated in school sports meets from primary school all the way up. Truth be told, she really enjoyed the feeling of winning awards; it made her feel great.
She felt great right now, too.
Xu Chengjin was always very sincere whenever she praised someone, so most people felt very comfortable after hearing her compliments. Wu Boran was no exception, and she forced down the corners of her mouth to hide a smile. “Actually, I used to participate in these activities all the time. I even run marathons and go rock climbing.”
“No wonder your muscle lines are so nice.” Xu Chengjin’s eyes were full of envy. After being discharged from the hospital this time, the doctor had forbidden her from doing any strenuous movements again. Originally, Xu Chengjin thought she could participate in swimming class, but now that plan had fallen through as well; she could only go and watch them swim each time.
Wu Boran raised an eyebrow at Xu Chengjin. “They’re okay. I don’t like muscles that are too prominent.”
Xu Chengjin smiled but didn’t say anything. She bit her straw and took a sip, thinking that she could go take a look that day. She wondered if Jin Xi had signed up, but since there were no classes that day, the other girl might have gone to work her part-time job.
Her thoughts were a mess. She still hadn’t figured out whether she should go to Si Yu’s place this afternoon to see that doctor. However, she didn’t like the feeling of hope being dashed. She had been disappointed too many times; rather than becoming numb to it, she had become more afraid.
“Xiao Jin!”
Jin Xi’s voice came from behind Xu Chengjin. She walked quickly to Xu Chengjin’s side and sat down, not giving even a glance to Wu Boran nearby, as if she hadn’t seen her at all. Her tone was excited: “You’re up so early?”
“Yeah.” Xu Chengjin nodded and smiled faintly. “I couldn’t sleep, so I got up. I can go back and rest after finishing breakfast.”
Jin Xi nodded. She took Xu Chengjin’s hand and, after giving Wu Boran a very casual glance, she looked away. She flashed a smile: “I was originally planning to go out for a stroll with you this morning. The weather isn’t very hot today, but your health comes first.”
“Right?”
Jin Xi’s words were clearly addressed to Xu Chengjin, but her gaze fell upon Wu Boran.
Hmph.
She didn’t have any classes and could stay with Xu Chengjin all morning—unlike a certain someone…
Wu Boran: “…”
She’s crazy.
