- The Sickly Fake Daughter, But a Beloved Darling of All
- Chapter 119 - When Are You Getting the Certificate?
When Xu Chengjin and Si Yu arrived home, it was already past four in the afternoon. Xu Chengjin didn’t even have time to feel excited; she changed her clothes and went straight to bed to rest. Si Yu walked a bit slower, and by the time she made her way over, her lover was already asleep—even the quilt that was originally over her body had been kicked off.
“Aren’t you afraid of catching a cold?”
There was no hint of blame in Si Yu’s tone. The air conditioning was always on at home, so there was no need to worry about the temperature, but to be safe, Si Yu still covered Xu Chengjin’s stomach. It wouldn’t be good if she got an upset stomach from catching a chill.
Si Yu still had matters to handle, so she worked directly in the room. Once Xu Chengjin had slept for about an hour, she woke her up.
After being with Si Yu for a long time, waking up had become much easier for Xu Chengjin. Actually, she used to be a bit grumpy upon waking; it just depended on who she was with. Now that she trusted Si Yu, she couldn’t help but act spoiled.
Xu Chengjin rested her head against Si Yu’s lower abdomen, eyes closed as she murmured, “What time is it?”
“It’s past five. Your mother has already sent me the address for the dinner party; we should head over now.”
Si Yu pinched Xu Chengjin’s ear, cupped her face, and gave it a small rub. “Get up now.”
“Oh.”
Xu Chengjin obediently got out of bed. She went into the bathroom to change her clothes and wash her face, and after confirming everything was fine, she walked out. She arched an eyebrow at Si Yu, who was waiting outside the door: “Do I look good?”
“Too perfect.” Si Yu’s expression was incredibly exaggerated, and after saying it, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Let’s go!”
She took Xu Chengjin’s hand, and they walked out the door step by step.
In the evening, it was just the family eating together. When Xu Chengjin and Si Yu arrived, everyone was there except for Xu Jing. She asked casually, “Where’s Sister?”
“There was something at the company. She went to handle it temporarily and probably won’t be coming tonight.”
Mother Xu began to have the food served. She looked at Si Yu with a hint of apology. “Si Yu, I’ve already ordered some dishes. If you feel they aren’t to your taste, you can add more.”
“Okay.”
Si Yu didn’t refuse. Her tastes were quite similar to Xu Chengjin’s—mostly light—and Mother Xu understood their preferences well, so she liked the dishes that were served.
“Cough, cough—”
Suddenly, Jin Xi started coughing. She choked until the corners of her eyes turned red. “Sorry, I have a cold.”
Hearing this, Xu Chengjin looked over, her brow furrowed slightly. “Have you taken medicine?”
“I took some.”
Jin Xi still looked listless and had no appetite. Seeing the loving way Xu Chengjin and Si Yu acted made her feel even worse. She originally thought she still had a chance, but why did things always go against her wishes?
Thinking of this, Jin Xi stood up directly, the corners of her mouth twitching. “I don’t have much of an appetite and want to go back early to rest. I’m really sorry.”
Mother Xu felt Jin Xi’s forehead, looking worried. “It feels like you have a bit of a fever. Shall Mom take you to the hospital to check?”
“No need, Mom. You stay and eat with Xiaojin and the others. I’ll just go back and take some medicine.”
Jin Xi forced a smile, gently shook off Mother Xu’s hand, and looked at the others. “Then, I’ll be going first.”
“Rest well.”
Xu Chengjin replied to Jin Xi. Seeing that the other woman’s steps were a bit unsteady, she couldn’t help but remind her, “If you feel unwell, go to the hospital as soon as possible.”
Hearing this, Jin Xi stopped in her tracks. She turned to look at Xu Chengjin, her eyes filled with emotions that Xu Chengjin couldn’t understand. She took a deep breath, turned to walk out, and never looked back again.
“When do you two plan to get married?”
Mother Xu felt that since the two were mutually in love, it would be better to get their marriage certificate and marry early. Even if they didn’t make it to the end of their lives, it didn’t matter; she could give Xu Chengjin enough support, even if it meant standing against Si Yu.
“We haven’t discussed this matter yet.” Xu Chengjin put down her chopsticks and exchanged a look with Si Yu. “We’ll go back and discuss it properly. Once we’ve decided, we’ll let you know.”
Mother Xu nodded upon hearing this. “Alright. I didn’t expect you would be the first to get married.”
“Mom.”
Xu Chengjin moved to sit beside Mother Xu, hugging her arm. Her voice wavered with affection. “I am living very happily.”
Her eyes were bright, illuminated by the lights, as if she possessed the whole world. “Really.”
“I am especially happy right now.”
Their meal didn’t last very long; they disbanded an hour after Jin Xi left. Xu Chengjin sat in the back seat leaning against Si Yu, discussing the wedding. However, neither of them had a clear idea yet and planned to discuss it properly when they had some free time.
“I’ll bring you lunch tomorrow at noon.”
Xu Chengjin was the first to get out of the car. Just as she was about to take Si Yu’s hand, the smile on her face vanished in the next instant. She looked at the person standing in front of her, her lips moving soundlessly for a moment before she finally spoke:
“Jin Xi—”
