The Sickly Double Doesn't Want to Be Spoiled - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Meng Yuan did not eat dinner.
After taking his medicine, he went straight back to his room to sleep for a while. With his body rested, his spirit was much improved when he woke up.
He propped himself up in bed, rubbing his brow to clear his mind, and then saw Lu Cong sitting under a lamp not far away, silently handling work.
Lu Cong’s face was incredibly sour.
That was Meng Yuan’s first impression. It was probably that sentence that had offended him Meng Yuan only realized it in hindsight.
Meng Yuan felt a bit guilty, but also a bit secretly pleased; it turned out that when he was extremely exhausted and irritable, he could still burst forth with some aggression. He wasn’t just a complete pushover!
Noticing the movement over here, Lu Cong looked up: “Awake?”
His tone was completely flat.
Meng Yuan: “…Mhm.”
Knock, knock! Who would be knocking at this hour? Meng Yuan instinctively moved to open it, but heard Lu Cong raise his voice slightly: “Come in.”
It was an auntie from the Meng family, bringing in some dishes along with a chef. The two of them didn’t say much; they placed the food on the table and left.
Lu Cong stood up, walked to the dining table, and signaled Meng Yuan to sit down.
“I took the liberty of ordering your family’s chef,” he raised an eyebrow slightly. “You won’t find it too ‘troublesome,’ will you?”
Meng Yuan: “…” So petty. He followed, pulled out a chair, sat down, and said moodily: “You’re asking what you already know.”
Lu Cong then laughed, handing him the chopsticks: “Eat something.”
“…Thank you.”
Meng Yuan took them, buried his head, and began to eat. Lu Cong watched him wordlessly.
The boy’s manner of eating was very well-behaved; although his movements in swallowing and shoveling rice were a bit hurried, he made no noise and didn’t make a mess.
“Eat slowly,” Lu Cong said. “We have no other arrangements later.”
Meng Yuan’s hand paused. He didn’t look up, but he consciously slowed his pace.
He was used to eating very quickly; after all, he always had to rush in the past. His proudest skill was finishing a meal in five minutes. But he didn’t need that now; he had plenty of time to taste the flavor of every dish. The feeling was a bit unfamiliar, but not bad.
Lu Cong had already eaten; during the hours Meng Yuan was in a deep sleep, the Meng family’s dinner party could be described as extraordinarily lively. The conversation mostly revolved around Meng Yuan and his marriage, as well as various speculations about why Meng Yuan was unwilling to show his face even under such circumstances.
Lu Cong felt it was a pity that Meng Yuan hadn’t heard it with his own ears.
In front of him, the boy left him a view of a dark crown of hair; the hair was soft, seemingly as supple as his temper. Lu Cong recalled Meng Yuan’s earlier appearance. Leaning by the window, face pale, expression cold and weary he actually possessed a strange kind of attraction.
“Actually, when you use your mouth…” Lu Cong deliberated, yet couldn’t think of a specific word to describe Meng Yuan’s look at that time. Finally, he could only say: “It’s quite different.”
Meng Yuan pursed his lips, his chopsticks poking at the rice in the bowl: “That’s a shame. I usually don’t ‘grow’ a mouth.”
Lu Cong laughed even more happily.
Once he had eaten enough, Meng Yuan put down his chopsticks, wiped his mouth, and looked at Lu Cong: “Thank you for your hard work today. It’s late; you should hurry home and rest too.”
Lu Cong remained as steady as a mountain, nodding slightly: “Mhm. I’ve already showered and sorted everything out. You go wash up too.”
Meng Yuan: “?”
Lu Cong looked back at him: “.”
“I’m sorry,” Meng Yuan gripped the napkin in his hand. “I don’t quite understand what you’re saying.”
He understood the words, but how were they so bizarre when put together? I’ve already showered, you go shower too… What did that mean? Meng Yuan’s head throbbed in waves of confusion.
Lu Cong then sat up straight and patiently explained to Meng Yuan: “I. Took the liberty. Of using. Your bathroom.”
Meng Yuan: “Ah?”
He blinked his eyes as if he couldn’t believe it: “Are you… staying here?”
Lu Cong raised an eyebrow; the answer was self-evident. Meng Yuan’s mouth hung open in terror.
Seeing ghosts again. “You, you-you-you-you…” Meng Yuan stammered, unable to handle such a big shock for a moment: “Do we have to go to this extent?”
The room was indeed large, with a living room, bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom—it could be considered a large suite. But no matter how large it was, it didn’t change the fact that this was a single room with only one bed!
Lu Cong was puzzled: “Is this ‘extent’ very excessive?”
Wow, worthy of a famous businessman steady as Mount Tai even as it collapses. Meng Yuan’s eyes were truly opened. He gave a couple of dry laughs, trying to shoo him away politely: “This… won’t fit us, will it?”
Lu Cong: “I checked. The bed is two meters; no problem. My sleeping posture is decent.”
He was as rigorous as if he were conducting an academic discussion with Meng Yuan.
Meng Yuan: “.”
Was this a question of sleeping posture? This was a question of two men sleeping together!
Although Meng Yuan hadn’t exactly never lived with men he stayed in a dormitory during school as a child, and squeezed onto a tiny bed with several colleagues after growing up. These things happened often. Meng Yuan wasn’t a finicky person; no matter how crowded it was or how loud the snoring nearby, he could fall asleep if he gritted his teeth. But the problem was, this world was different from his original world!
In this world, men could legally marry; lying on the same bed made them legal partners, and they could legally engage in certain sexual acts. Yes, that’s right, although Meng Yuan and Lu Cong were about to be legal too, they didn’t have that kind of relationship!
Meng Yuan anxiously bit his finger, racking his brain to recall the contents of the contract. Had he missed something? Did the contract include physical obligations?!
Lu Cong: “…”
Seeing the boy’s thoughts drifting far away, about to develop in an uncontrollable direction, Lu Cong quickly interrupted.
“Wake up.” He waved a hand in front of Meng Yuan’s eyes.
Meng Yuan snapped awake nervously.
Lu Cong sighed.
“Just staying for one night,” he said. “My aesthetic taste isn’t you; I wouldn’t go so far as to have designs on a kid whose hair hasn’t even fully grown yet.”
Meng Yuan: “?”
Lu Cong stood up and walked toward the walk-in closet. Meng Yuan’s gaze instinctively followed.
Lu Cong took out his pajamas and turned to look at Meng Yuan: “I’m going to change now. Are you sure you want to keep staring at me instead of going to shower?”
As he spoke, he raised his hand as if to take off his clothes; his well-trained abdominal muscles flashed into Meng Yuan’s eyes. Meng Yuan turned his head away instantly, half his ear turning red.
“Don’t be in such a hurry,” he said. “Bear with it a little longer!”
He scrambled to grab his own pajamas and rushed into the bathroom.
Bang! The door slammed shut in a panic, and Meng Yuan’s voice, lacking confidence, drifted out: “Okay, you can take them off now.”
Lu Cong: “…”
He looked down at the hem of his shirt; he actually hadn’t intended to strip in front of Meng Yuan at all. But that fellow was truly too easy to tease. Lu Cong shook his head, laughed inexplicably for a moment, and put it out of his mind.
…
One hour later. Meng Yuan and Lu Cong were lying in one bed.
His head was dizzy; he felt this wasn’t right, but thinking it through, it seemed very logical, which trapped him for a moment. Lu Cong was lying right beside him; Meng Yuan stole a glance from the corner of his eye.
This man hadn’t lied; his sleeping posture was indeed very good, as upright as a corpse placed in a coffin.
“Is your hair not dry?” Lu Cong said eerily.
Meng Yuan shot him a look, confirming he indeed had his eyes closed and hadn’t opened them once.
“How did you know?”
“I smell dampness,” Lu Cong said.
Meng Yuan: “…”
This person is so finicky. He admitted his hair indeed hadn’t been blown fully dry, but that was because there was too much hair; drying it completely was exhausting. The current level was quite good; it would dry naturally in a few minutes neither damp nor wet, and no headache.
Lu Cong and he each occupied one side of the two-meter bed; it was impossible for him to feel any dampness. Meng Yuan didn’t want to deal with him.
“Don’t you feel your ‘persona’ has collapsed a bit in front of me, Mr. Lu?”
Lu Cong slowly began to smile, the corners of his mouth curving into an ambiguous arc: “And how can you be sure you ever truly understood me?”
Meng Yuan froze.
“Go to sleep,” Lu Cong said. “Remember to turn off the light.”
Meng Yuan: “?”
He blinked inexplicably. They were both settled in bed; by what right did he order him to turn off the light? Turning off the light was the most annoying thing!
Meng Yuan fumed inwardly. He stubbornly lay in bed being angry, and after a few seconds, he crawled up “cowardly” to turn off the light. Then he scrambled back into bed.
He grabbed the quilt and turned over forcefully. The front of his chest suddenly felt empty. Lu Cong finally opened his eyes.
He stared at the back of Meng Yuan’s dark head for a while, then slowly and calmly pulled the quilt back, tucked it under his arm, and closed his eyes again.
“Stop throwing a tantrum,” he said. “Getting angry before sleep makes it easy to go insane.”
Meng Yuan: “??”
