The Short-Lived Cannon Fodder Is Haunted By A Gloomy Monster [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 2
“Truly ugly,” Qi Qi muttered faintly, staring at her for a long while before finally sighing in observation.
That sensation of eerie cold resurfaced, becoming even more pronounced. It felt as if someone had shoved ice cubes down the back of her neck, the chilling, damp feeling of melting ice was impossible to ignore.
Yet, Qi Qi seemed oblivious to any abnormality. After a moment of silence, she couldn’t help but burst into loud laughter. “To think someone could actually be this ugly, your face is just too interesting.”
Shen Lu clenched her palms in secret, restraining her murderous intent.
“From now on, you’re my toy.” Because of her rare good mood, Qi Qi’s usually world-weary face, typically radiating lethal indifference, softened slightly. She pulled the girl up and led her toward the bathroom door. “Come with me.”
Shen Lu finally spoke her first words since meeting Qi Qi: “I need to go back to class.”
Her voice matched her face perfectly, devoid of any pleasant contrast. Unlike the melodious, sweet voices of typical young girls, hers was a harsh, grating, and sandpaper like rasp. It was said that her throat had been scalded by boiling water when she was a child.
The spot where her wrist was being held felt like oil poured onto a fire, it burned so intensely she wanted to fling the hand away. But fearing retaliation from these wealthy people who didn’t view others as human, Shen Lu could only endure. In her mind, she was already imagining the thirty-eighth method of torturing this young mistress to death.
Qi Qi didn’t find her dirty. She dragged her newly acquired toy into her private lounge. Though called a “lounge,” it was more luxurious than the presidential suites of some five-star hotels. However, as the Qi family was a major shareholder of the school, providing several exclusive lounges for their sole heiress was merely standard procedure.
“You’re currently filthier than a trash bag on the side of the road. I won’t allow my toy to be this dirty.”
Shen Lu surveyed the luxurious room, which stood in stark contrast to her mud-stained self. Every corner was exquisite. Expensive, limited-edition luxury items popular among girls their age, things she had only seen on TV or in discarded magazines, were scattered casually around the room. Finally, her gaze landed on Qi Qi, who walked ahead of her, worlds apart.
A fair, delicate, flawless face, a tall, slender, healthy figure. Qi Qi had been born at a finish line that most people in the world would never reach. On top of that, she even possessed a reasonably clever mind. Even if she did nothing, people would scramble to adore and care for her… It was as if God Himself was biased toward her.
Then she thought of the others in this school. They loathed her simply because of her looks. Even though she was already so cautious and humble, trying her hardest not to attract any attention, she was still subjected to random mockery, insults, and bullying. Even when she gathered the courage to stand before a mirror, all she saw was a strange girl with shifting eyes and a distorted expression.
Why? Why was the world so unfair?
Some were born with silver spoons, while she had been stripped of everything since birth.
What had she done wrong?
Her heart began to feel as though it were soaking in thick, toxic bile, slowly brewing resentment, jealousy, and a deep-seated, hidden inferiority.
Walking ahead, Qi Qi failed to notice that behind the thick bangs, the girl’s heterochromatic eyes had, at some point, turned an eerie green. Her pupils had narrowed into thin slits, resembling the cold, vertical pupils of a snake.
“What are you looking at?” After opening the shower door, Qi Qi realized the person behind her had stopped struggling since entering the lounge. She turned her head.
Before Shen Lu could hide her malicious gaze, her chin was grabbed and tilted upward. Her bangs, her daily protective shell, were ruthlessly swept aside again. At that moment, she felt like a fragile vampire thrown alive into the sunlight to be scorched, scrutinized like some plaything by someone with zero regard for her dignity.
The malicious glow in the green snake like pupils quickly faded, returning to their original dull and gloomy state.
Then, that detestable young mistress looked at her face and once again let out a loud laugh, devoid of any sympathy or pity.
How could someone be so wicked? With such a beautiful face, how could she laugh and humiliate her like this?
Shen Lu’s eyes reddened, she could feel the tears being forced out.
She had faced the world’s malice since childhood, behavior like Qi Qi’s shouldn’t have been able to hurt her anymore. She should have been used to it.
Therefore, this definitely wasn’t because of sadness. It was because of anger because her heart was filled with a hatred that wanted to hack the girl before her into a thousand pieces.
Qi Qi finally finished laughing and caught her breath, only to see the scholarship student who had just been acting tough and refusing to come, standing there expressionless, tears streaming down her face.
“I didn’t expect you to be so fragile inside. I was complimenting you, wasn’t it obvious?”
Hearing this, Shen Lu’s tears fell even faster. “Liar. You’re just humiliating me.”
“Fine, understand it however you want. You’re just a toy to me anyway, you have no human rights here.” Qi Qi reached out and wiped beneath the girl’s eyelids. She raised an eyebrow with a hint of novelty, thought for half a second, but being too lazy to explain, she simply moved behind her and gave her a shove.
The girl, who was incredibly light due to a lack of money for food, was pushed into the shower like a thin sheet of paper. She stumbled over the threshold and sat on the floor, motionless.
Qi Qi stepped inside as well. She first washed the grime from her hands that she’d caught from touching her “little pet,” then skillfully adjusted the showerhead. “Stop playing dead. Hurry up and take off your clothes.”
Shen Lu’s hands, braced against the floor tiles, stiffened. She doubted her own hearing, and her voice rose slightly in alarm. “Take off my clothes?”
They were both girls, right? Besides, someone like Qi Qi couldn’t possibly have that kind of interest in someone like her…
“Yeah. How else are you going to bathe without taking them off?”
The tall girl with obsidian bright eyes leaned down slightly, flashing a smile that was ten parts beautiful and ten parts wicked. “Or do you want me to help you? If that’s what you like, I don’t mind.”
“I… I can wash myself. Please go out… thank you.” Shen Lu cautiously added a polite phrase at the end. Although she didn’t know what kind of game this mentally unstable heiress was playing, she hoped the “thank you” might prompt the other to leave her alone.
The pitter-patter of the shower filled the room, and warm water began to emit a light white steam that gradually filled the stall.
The two remained in a standoff, one standing and one sitting, until Qi Qi finally sighed and turned off the shower.
“Fine, since you’re so unwilling…”
Qi Qi placed the showerhead on the side of the sink. Without warning, she leaned down, picked up the dazed scholarship student, and placed her into the nearby bathtub. “As your owner, I’ll take the responsibility of helping you undress.”
Caught off guard, Shen Lu was forced to catch the faint but expensive woody fragrance on the crazy heiress. She was pressed into the bathtub in a trance, forgetting to struggle. She could only stare blankly at the piercingly bright lights on the ceiling. By the time she reacted and tried to resist, her mud-stained school uniform, already half-soaked by the spray, had been pulled halfway off, and several buttons on her white shirt had popped during the scuffle.
The scholarship students’ uniforms were provided for free by the school upon admission, one set for each season. However, if they were ruined, they had to be repurchased just like the regular students. The price of a Mingde uniform was so high that she would have to skip class and work part time for months just to afford one.
Qi Qi picked up the showerhead with a beaming smile and aimed it at the pale, thin girl curled up in the tub.
Thinking of her empty pockets, Shen Lu’s rare heterochromatic eyes grew moist again. She cursed the name “Qi Qi” eight hundred times in her heart, she would spend her whole life placing a vicious curse on her.
But the reality was that she had been stripped bare. The next second, the shower water, adjusted to the perfect temperature, fell upon her, washing away the mud and dust. Even her pale, bluish skin began to flush with a healthy color, causing the lingering gloom around her to dissipate significantly.
Qi Qi nodded in satisfaction, then tossed a brand-new bath towel onto the head of the girl who sat in the drained tub.
“Dry yourself off. Even though I’m a generous owner, it’s not good to be too dependent on me.”
Shen Lu came to her senses and desperately wanted to hurl the towel at that annoying, beautiful face. But facing the predicament of her own nakedness, she struggled internally for a long time before finally, humiliatingly, using the towel to wipe the water from her body.
“Qi Qi, one day, I’m going to kill you!”
After a series of sudden events, the girl who usually acted like a wooden puppet regardless of how she was bullied, finally broke her facade, exposing her most extreme, polarized emotions.
The whites of her eyes were suffused with terrifying red veins. The sheer malice in her gaze would make anyone’s blood run cold, no one would doubt the sincerity of her words.
Those black and green eyes stared intently at the lazily smiling Qi Qi leaning against the door.
“Sure. I’ll be waiting. You better work hard at it.”
Having rolled up her sleeves to bathe her disobedient pet, revealing a section of smooth, fair forearm, the girl leaning against the doorframe seemed to have finally heard something interesting. She lifted her eyelids to glance at her, those eyes, which usually lacked spirit, twinkled slightly.
Shen Lu didn’t know what this lunatic was thinking, but it didn’t stop the fire of anger and hatred in her heart from burning hotter.
Hearing those words, Qi Qi should have felt afraid, but for some reason, she felt happy from the bottom of her heart. She sincerely looked forward to the day this scholarship student would kill her, as if something had finally gotten onto the right track.
This sudden, unfamiliar emotion made her pause to reflect. Was her newly discovered hobby not “bullying the scholarship student,” but rather “being hated and killed by the scholarship student”?
Had she truly become a pervert out of sheer, long-term boredom?
Qi Qi tossed her spare school uniform and a pack of unopened underwear to the “little pet” who refused to leave the tub. Thinking of this, she felt a sudden, slight pang of distress.
Shen Lu hesitated for a long time under the half-damp towel before choosing to put on the brand-new uniform. Although the size was a bit large and felt loose and baggy, it was better than wearing nothing. Compared to that, the underwear made her even more uneasy. It wasn’t rough or uncomfortable like what she usually wore, it was smooth and soft, tenderly hugging her curves. It felt strange at first, but soon it felt as natural as wearing nothing at all.
The girl, whose clothes usually smelled only of the cheapest soap and laundry powder, was now wearing a meticulously ironed uniform that wafted of expensive perfume. She should have been happy, but the scent which didn’t belong to her, enveloped her like something tangible, making her feel entirely ill at ease.
She tried her best not to look so cowering and rustic. Stepping out of the tub, she silently picked up her dirty, mud-stained uniform that Qi Qi had tossed on the floor. To the ordinary students of this school, it was just disgusting trash, but to her, it was a precious garment. Besides, it could still be worn if she went back and washed it.
Since she had worn the heiress’s spare uniform, she was sure someone like Qi Qi wouldn’t want it back. As for the afternoon classes, Shen Lu had already mastered the material, skipping a few wouldn’t matter. Although she had been toyed with and humiliated by a lunatic today, such things were painless to her. What mattered was that she had obtained a set of school uniforms for free. Today, she hadn’t actually lost, in fact, she had made a profit.
Shen Lu tried hard to convince herself of this.
It was only after school ended that night, back in her dormitory, that she took out her diary as usual.
Shen Lu was actually a very vengeful person. Her dull, silent demeanor was merely a disguise to protect herself. Fearing she might forget even the smallest slight, she recorded every verbal and physical instance of bullying she faced each day in meticulous detail. She had quietly named it her “Curse Diary.”
And tonight, she didn’t just write down what happened, she spitefully filled an entire blank page with the name “Qi Qi.”
[One day, I will cruelly torture and humiliate her, and then I will kill her!]
The sharp handwriting was pressed so hard into the paper that it tore through the next dozen pages.
