- The Seductive Beauty Sinks Into the Shura Field [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 14 - I Have Been Watching You
Qu Jing had been gone for a day and a night. Qu Sinian was so preoccupied with taking care of Chi Wenqiu that he completely forgot he even had a son.
The old butler came running in, shouting, “Master! This is terrible! Young Master Qu Jing has been kidnapped!”
The word “kidnap” was not foreign to Qu Sinian. He had often been involved in violent incidents as a child and had mastered martial arts. Since becoming successful, he frequently faced retaliation from various enemies who used Qu Jing, his only blood relative, to blackmail him. He had dealt with no fewer than ten kidnappings; it was practically a routine occurrence.
The first step in such a situation was always to consult the head of security. A row of plainclothes bodyguards stood before him with bowed heads. The lead officer reported nervously, “The Eldest Young Master told us not to come near him, so we waited outside. Unexpectedly, a group of people suddenly burst in to commit a robbery. The scene was chaotic, and it was difficult for us to intervene. By the time we regained our bearings, the Young Master was gone.”
“Wenqiu, what do you think?” Qu Sinian looked toward the young butler, who was sitting at a computer investigating the surveillance footage.
Chi Wenqiu replied, “The surveillance was hacked once, but fortunately, I recovered a backup. Among the many suspicious targets, I saw a familiar figure. There is no evidence yet, so I cannot say for certain.”
“It is Fu Ruhuan,” Qu Sinian stated.
“Yes. The clothing style is very similar, though this time he let his hair down to cover part of his face.”
Chi Wenqiu was about to continue his analysis when Qu Sinian interrupted him. “You do not need to interfere in this. I will handle it.” Having said that, Qu Sinian stood up and walked toward the door. He cast a cold glance back at the security team, and the bodyguards almost collapsed under his icy stare. “Follow me.”
As the group left, the room suddenly became much emptier.
System: [Host, host, what are you going to do? Fu Ruhuan is clearly coming for you! He is getting revenge on the task target at the same time. You must not fall for his trap!]
Now that Qu Sinian was gone, the timid system dared to pop up and speak weakly.
Chi Wenqiu naturally understood this logic. It was not realistic to abduct a person protected by so many bodyguards, and Qu Jing’s location must have been leaked by someone. He took out a burner phone and sent a message: [This is Chi Wenqiu.]
In less than half a minute, a phone call came through.
“Long time no see, Xiao Qiu. I missed you very much.” The voice was refined and gentle, saturated with emotion.
Chi Wenqiu dithered for a moment, remembering that someone else had once said the same thing, but the memory was blurred.
Fu Ruhuan’s pleasant voice took on a hint of disappointment. “Do you not miss me? Since we last met, I have thought of taking you into my arms every single moment. I want to do things with you that are more intimate than friendship, like holding hands or kissing.”
Chi Wenqiu’s downward gaze was full of pity yet heartless, though his voice remained polite. “I appreciate your affection, but I am just a minor employee. It is not worth President Fu’s effort.”
“Heh. Look out the window, Wenqiu. I have been watching you.”
Chi Wenqiu’s gaze turned cold as he immediately looked outside. A red laser dot landed right between his eyebrows, vivid and enchanting, signifying that he had nowhere to run.
The system screamed in panic: [Host! It is an infrared laser! He wants to kill you!]
Chi Wenqiu was bathed in the sunlight streaming through the window. His eyes, looking directly into the light, appeared as clear, hand-blown glass beads. He was completely exposed; a single mistake could result in a fatal shot.
“You are so beautiful, baby. If I could take you for myself, I cannot imagine how wonderful it would be. Qu Sinian, that tactless man, surely cannot satisfy you. You would be better off in my arms. Do you want to save his son? It is actually quite simple. You only need to come and trade yourself. I will never hurt you, but others might.”
“Where are you?”
“Haitian,” the voice replied.
The obsessive voice in his ear was suddenly cut off, followed by a harsh burst of static and the sound of something crashing. After a moment, Qu Sinian’s cold voice rang out: “Find him. I want him found, whether he is alive or dead.” The sound cut out abruptly again, as if the communication device had been destroyed.
The system trembled: [Host, the task target seems angry! He would not actually hand you over to trade for Qu Jing, would he? Please no, we are almost done with the task!]
“He will not.” Qu Sinian was not that kind of person. His anger was mostly due to the fact that someone close to him was being coveted. His possessiveness exceeded what was visible on the surface. It would not be hard to deal with Fu Ruhuan, but Chi Wenqiu quickly packed his things, taking everything he could.
The system was confused: [Host, where are you going?]
“To save him. Send me Qu Jing’s location. I am going to be an irrational fool for once.”
System: [Host! No! The task target explicitly said you cannot interfere, or you will be punished again! The punishment intensity increases each time; you cannot hold out forever!]
“This is the best opportunity to gain favor. I need to drive Qu Sinian crazy. It is either success or death; at worst, it is just death.” Chi Wenqiu’s tone was firm, and he even gave a faint smile. “Unfortunately, if I do not succeed this time, I am afraid I will be beyond redemption, and I will not have another chance to work with you.”
The system did not understand. It knew nothing of Chi Wenqiu’s past, only that he was a task executor under the special attention of the Main God. Rumor had it he had committed heinous crimes and was sent to perform nearly impossible missions. At first, the system thought Chi Wenqiu would turn the task worlds into a mess, but he executed his duties diligently. Despite all his efforts, he still had not captured the heart of the target and had endured much suffering. Anyone else would have quit long ago, yet he persisted.
Chi Wenqiu did not seem like someone who would cling to the end, but he was stubborn to the bone. He only compromised slightly when performing tasks. He had to; he did not want to lose control over his body again. He had thought about ending his life, but that foolish method only resulted in a cycle of pain; the next world would be even more difficult. He did not know how much longer he would have to continue, but as long as he completed the tasks, his guilt would be lessened.
The system said that the place where Qu Jing was held was in a remote suburb. His current mental state was poor, he was injured, and he was at risk of dying at any moment. Halfway through the drive, Qu Sinian’s calls kept coming in, and he even sent messages threatening Chi Wenqiu not to go looking for Qu Jing.
Chi Wenqiu kept telling himself that he was following Qu Sinian’s original order to protect Qu Jing. This way, his character setting was not completely broken. The system’s OOC value remained stable at the passing line, so no forced measures were taken. However, as time passed and he repeatedly ignored the calls, Qu Sinian grew frustrated. The favorability rating dropped to sixty, dangerously close to the failing mark.
System: [Host! Stop going against the task target! While favorability increases, so does his darkening. He is so ruthless; if he darkens, he will surely hurt you! You must think clearly!]
Chi Wenqiu unilaterally cut off the brainwave connection with the system and floored the accelerator. He knew the risks. Once the arrow is shot, there is no turning back. Since he had made the decision, he was brave enough to bear the consequences.
He was severely dehydrated. His mouth and throat were parched. With a rag stuffed in his mouth, he could not even lick his lips to quench his thirst. The sound of dripping water nearby was like a death knell, making sleep impossible. With a sharp rip, the sound of a curtain being pulled back echoed. Qu Jing was startled into alertness. His arched back tensed, and the wound on his abdomen burned with pain. It must be infected; otherwise, why would his body feel as hot as it did that other day?
He chanted Chi Wenqiu’s name thousands of times in his mind, barely maintaining consciousness. Two rough voices with thick accents were talking. “Damn it! They said we would get paid if we kidnapped him. It has been a day and a night, and no one has come to pay. Have we been played like fools? Fuck!”
A more feminine voice replied, “Hey, look at this kid. I do not know which girl he is thinking about. He drank a lot of wine and did not go down, and he did not stay quiet after getting beaten. Young love is really something. Not like us, living on the edge, losing our lives at any moment.”
“Who cares about some girl? I care about getting paid! Can these employers keep their promises? And they call themselves businessmen.”
“There is movement downstairs. Is someone coming?”
“Go check it out.”
“Fine.”
Qu Jing heard the footsteps fading away. He stretched his head to look, but the rough man noticed and immediately kicked him down. Bound hand and foot, Qu Jing fell hard on the ground, and a sharp pain flared from his dislocated right arm. He did not even let out a whimper, hoping only that he could hold on long enough to see Chi Wenqiu one last time.
“Chi Wenqiu, Chi Wenqiu!” Chanting the name like a mantra in his heart, Qu Jing bit down on the dirty rag like a madman, the sound of grinding teeth echoing in the enclosed space.
The rough man muttered to himself, “Holy shit, he has the survival instincts of a cockroach. He refuses to beg for mercy. At least cry a little, so I know I am actually kidnapping someone.” He grabbed Qu Jing’s hair and pulled it up. “Hey, I told you to call your dad and have him ransom you. Stop stalling. Do you not want to live? Do you only understand foreign languages because you just got back to the country? Let me think. Life, life! You know?”
Due to long-term dehydration and dried blood clogging his ears, plus a heavy blow to his temple, Qu Jing’s ears were buzzing. He could not hear clearly. He even began to hallucinate that Chi Wenqiu was coming to save him. Was that possible? No, he did not want him to come at all. It was too dangerous here. He would rather Chi Wenqiu call the police heartlessly than come here and lose his life for nothing.
Salty sweat ran into his eyes. Qu Jing blinked frantically, his eyelashes scraping against the thick blindfold. He remembered that hot summer years ago, when a young boy in a clean white shirt sat in the sun, softly reciting vocabulary. They talked about everything and made vows to go to the same school, to go mountain climbing after the holidays, and to see the sea. Though his consciousness was blurred, the memories buried in his mind became clear.
The face he had glimpsed countless times in his dreams was no longer a blur; he saw Chi Wenqiu again. Having lost his innocence, he had become mature and steady, yet he no longer wore a friendly smile; coldness and distance had become his true nature. Qu Jing wanted to ask Qu Sinian personally why he had driven Chi Wenqiu away back then. He was all alone and had no source of income, so he had to work as a tutor to earn tuition. Why would anyone want to stifle his future?
“Master! Mr. Chi Wenqiu, he has already left S City!”
The man sitting in the backseat suddenly opened his eyes and said expressionlessly, “So what are you all good for? You cannot even keep up with one person? You just let him run off like that?”
The assistant in the passenger seat said nervously, “We do not know how he escaped the blockade. In short, our people did not detect him, and we were even tricked. Master, he even avoided the kidnappers’ spies or rather, he was given permission. Could it be.”
“Useless trash. If you cannot do something, why do you not question yourselves first? If anything happens to him, it will not be as simple as being fired.”
“Yes! We will do our best to track down Mr. Chi and ensure his safety!”
“Hey, kid. I see you are not some pampered young master. A healthy man with such a bright future should not be dying for a woman. You have money and a high status; what kind of woman can you not get?”
The rough male voice was piercing, like chalk scratching across a blackboard. Qu Jing remained motionless, as if he were dead. The kidnapper lifted him up to check on him and cursed, “Crap, he has a high fever. He is burning up. We have not gotten the money yet; do not die here!”
There was a commotion at the door. The kidnapper immediately grabbed his weapon just as someone walked in. Seeing the newcomer, the kidnappers shouted together, “Boss, you are finally back!”
Qu Jing struggled to open his eyes to look at the so-called boss. His field of vision was low, and he could only manage to see expensive leather boots and black suit trousers.
Fu Ruhuan said in a refined, calm voice, “He is useless now. Kill him directly.”
The rough man hesitated. “Kill the hostage? But we went through so much trouble.”
The feminine man replied, “Listen to the boss! You will still get your money!”
The rough man was a bit reluctant to act, but after this job, he intended to retire and go home. He grabbed Qu Jing’s collar and whispered an apology. He had just taken out a dagger and aimed it at the boy’s chest when a sudden alarm went off, indicating an uninvited guest.
Fu Ruhuan glanced at the surveillance on his phone, and the corners of his mouth slowly lifted. “Wait. Do not touch him yet. Kill him later.”
Who was here? Qu Jing hoped it was Qu Sinian, yet he did not want Chi Wenqiu to follow, though he longed to see him. Chi Wenqiu used to be like a “white moonlight” to him, always lingering in his dreams. Having finally found him again, Qu Jing felt both joy and sorrow, feeling that he had tarnished him.
“Let us go. You are lucky you did not die. If you move, I will blow your brains out.” Qu Jing was taken outside. The sound of dripping water faded, and the sound of the wind accelerated. He realized he was outdoors.
“Stop!”
“Do not move!”
“Who are you!”
Hearing the shouting, Qu Jing turned his head, wondering if Qu Sinian was bold enough to venture into the nest alone.
“One for one, as we agreed. I am here; now let him go.” The voice etched into his heart was cold and clear, carrying a bit of determination.
Chi Wenqiu! The moment he heard that voice, Qu Jing’s blood turned to ice. He began to struggle violently, letting out muffled groans. The man holding him gave him two ruthless punches, making him stagger in pain.
Chi Wenqiu said coldly, “Do not touch him!”
In the abandoned, dilapidated building, the beauty dressed in a suit was surrounded by many men holding guns. He showed no fear, staring stubbornly at the kidnapped boy.
Fu Ruhuan gave a laugh. “It turns out Wenqiu is such a person of integrity. But why are you only so cold toward me? It is quite unpleasant.”
“Your actions have crossed my line; it is hard for me to give you a kind look. I have done as you said; now it is time to fulfill your promise.”
“Of course. When have I ever lied to you?” Fu Ruhuan raised a hand, and the observant feminine man immediately kicked Qu Jing in the back of the knees, forcing him to fall to the ground. Fu Ruhuan gave him a cool glance and said with displeasure, “What is wrong with you? Should you not treat captives well?”
The feminine man stared at Chi Wenqiu and sneered, “It took us a lot of effort to catch this kid, and he bit me several times. I have to get my revenge. Hey, pretty boy, if you really want a one-for-one trade, it cannot be a perfect exchange.”
Chi Wenqiu frowned. “What do you want to do?”
“It is simple. Let me give you two punches to vent my anger, and then I will not hurt him anymore.”
“Fine.”
“Mmmph!” Qu Jing tried to get up.
Fu Ruhuan took the opportunity to gain favor. “Do not be like that, Wenqiu. You know I cannot stand to see you hurt.”
Chi Wenqiu took off his suit jacket to prove he had nothing else on him and said calmly, “Once I am injured, my chances of escaping will drop significantly. Is that not exactly what you want? No more talk. Just do it. He is about to collapse.”
Hearing him speak words of concern for someone else, Fu Ruhuan’s mouth curled coldly. He beckoned to Chi Wenqiu. “If you are willing to give me a smile, Qu Jing can certainly return alive, and you will not have to get hurt.”
“There is no need. Let us do as he said.” Chi Wenqiu’s cold attitude made Fu Ruhuan even angrier. He had not been able to flirt with Chi Wenqiu today and had been lectured by Qu Sinian. Fortunately, he was alert enough to escape; otherwise, he would have truly lost everything. However, since Chi Wenqiu was already in his grasp, he would have to tame him slowly.
Fu Ruhuan feigned disappointment. “Since you have made up your mind, I will not interfere, lest you say I am meddling.”
The feminine man held a dagger in his hand and laughed. “Will you do it yourself, or shall I help you? This face of yours is quite handsome; I am reluctant to touch it.” He did not dare offend the boss, but he cast a lingering, suggestive look over Chi Wenqiu’s waist and long legs. Chi Wenqiu was already used to such looks. Qu Jing’s mental state was very poor; if he did not receive treatment in time, he might suffer permanent damage.
He took the dagger from the feminine man and asked, “Where did he hurt you?”
“My hand.”
As soon as he spoke, Chi Wenqiu coldly sliced his palm with the blade without a moment’s hesitation. A flash of blood appeared before Fu Ruhuan realized what he was doing.
“Chi Wenqiu! You would go this far for him?!”
The beautiful and ruthless young butler looked directly at the equally shocked feminine man. “What else? Where else did he hurt you? I will return it all.”
“Holy shit, you are a tough one.”
Chi Wenqiu scanned his limbs and saw a bandage on the man’s right thigh. He realized, “The right leg too, right? I will give it back to you.” He raised his hand to stab his own right leg, but before he could actually hurt himself, the weapon was snatched away by Fu Ruhuan. He was pulled into an embrace that smelled of incense and blood.
Fu Ruhuan held him tightly and gripped his injured wrist. He spoke in a tone of exasperation, “Good, very good. It is rare for anyone to make me this angry. Doctor! Call the doctor over here!”
Chi Wenqiu. The unable-to-see Qu Jing turned toward the sound of the voices. When no one was paying attention, he crawled painfully across the ground and managed to bite onto Chi Wenqiu’s trouser leg. Blood dripped onto his upturned face, landing right at the corner of his mouth. He really was injured.
In that moment, Qu Jing’s heart ached intensely. At the same time, he felt hatred for his own incompetence. He should not have been arrogant enough to dismiss Qu Sinian’s personal bodyguards. His stubbornness had led to this kidnapping, and now Chi Wenqiu had to come and save him. A pained sound escaped his throat; Qu Jing was sobbing.
When he wanted to take Chi Wenqiu to treat his wound, Fu Ruhuan also noticed the obstacle at his feet. His eyes turned cold behind his glasses. As he prepared to kick Qu Jing away, Chi Wenqiu stepped forward to stop him, his eyes full of disapproval, and he tugged on the man’s sleeve with his uninjured hand as if pleading.
Fu Ruhuan’s anger dissipated instantly. He brushed back a lock of hair that was wet with sweat on the side of Chi Wenqiu’s face and chuckled. “Are you angry? Give me a kiss, and I will let it go.”
System: [Host! Host, you must not compromise yourself! This guy has had his eye on you for a long time, just waiting for you to throw yourself into his arms!]
Chi Wenqiu naturally knew that he should focus on the big picture. If Qu Jing died, his progress in capturing the target would stall, and he would have offended Qu Sinian as well. Perhaps all his previous efforts would go to waste. No matter what, Qu Jing had to be saved, even if it meant sacrificing his own body. After a brief daze, Chi Wenqiu pursed his red lips and looked up to kiss the elegant nobleman. Fu Ruhuan did not expect him to be so straightforward and was momentarily stunned that he could have such intimate contact with the person he liked so easily.
The next second, Fu Ruhuan’s return kiss became more intense. His sharp teeth tore at the lips that could not close, and his tongue pushed past the teeth to enter. He also used his hand to lift the other’s slender waist to meet him. The sound of their kissing made the surrounding men look away in embarrassment. If it were a beautiful woman, they might have enjoyed the sight, but this was a man. No matter how beautiful he was, they could not ignore their own discomfort toward the same sex.
The feminine man stared blankly at the embracing pair. He knew he should turn away, but he could not take his eyes off the sight. The waist, made thin by the belt, was so slender it could almost be held in one hand. It was truly erotic.
Fu Ruhuan gradually shed his refined and elegant exterior, wishing he could completely consume Chi Wenqiu. He had not forgotten that there were still others watching, so he had to stop midway. He personally treated Chi Wenqiu’s injury and said that if he agreed to marry him, he would naturally send Qu Jing back.
His words could not be trusted. Chi Wenqiu did not agree directly. The nobleman stroked his face and said, “You surely do not think that since you have come to me, you still have the option to back out? I wanted to get to know you deeply, but I really cannot feel at ease with Qu Sinian around. He would take you away from me. Of course, if you agree to be with me, it will save a lot of trouble. We will go abroad, and I will cherish you. You will not have to work as a lowly butler; you will have a share of my fortune.”
It sounded quite tempting, but Chi Wenqiu’s heart was made of iron. He only cared about the task. He did not refuse, nor did he agree. “Qu Jing’s condition is very bad. I want to see him.”
Fu Ruhuan’s gaze was deep. “You have fallen for that kid, have you not?”
“Protecting him is my responsibility. I care for every employer.”
“Ha, employer? Fine.”
Having received permission, Chi Wenqiu finally had a chance to check Qu Jing’s physical condition. As soon as he removed the blindfold from the boy’s face, Qu Jing’s bloodshot eyes began to shed tears that would not stop. He looked as pitiful as a puppy waiting for its owner to take it home.
System: [Host! His love for you has surpassed that of the task target!]
Chi Wenqiu, who had felt a bit of sympathy, immediately turned cold.
