The Security Guard Who Won the Heart of the Unattainable Actress - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“Hey, you!” Wen Yingzhi also caught up, and as she panted and looked at Li Guang, who was still dazed, her words suddenly became speechless when she met Li Guang’s innocent and bewildered gaze.
This one.
She felt a little… familiar?
Oh, wait, not just a little. It felt like she had seen this face more than once.
Wen Yingzhi’s thin eyebrows arched, and her voice, though filled with helplessness and annoyance, was as melodious as a nightingale. She urgently asked the person next to her.
“Are you okay?”
Ran Mingyue shook her head, her gaze fixed on Li Guang.
“I’m sorry!” Li Guang felt like she was being roasted by fire and was on the verge of tears. She quickly knelt down.
Ran Mingyue didn’t make a sound, and Li Guang didn’t dare to move, not at all.
She was usually a slow-witted person, but at this moment, that trait was nowhere to be found.
Even if she had ten thousand guts, she wouldn’t dare to carry Ran Mingyue on her shoulder and run wildly in the moonlight. Was she mutated? Was she a wolf? Was she tired of living?
Li Guang’s internal emoji: Haha, I’m crazy.jpg
“Are you awake?” There were no other expressions on Ran Mingyue’s face. She lowered her head slightly, and the high-bridged side profile cast a cold shadow, concealing all the subtle light in her eyes.
Her heels were very high, and she now stood at the same height as the cardboard cutout under the light.
When she lowered her head, her messy hair was caught by the wind and happened to blow toward Li Guang’s nose.
Li Guang nodded her head like a garlic masher: “Awake, awake, awake.”
Wen Yingzhi frowned and asked in a low voice, “Is she an obsessive fan, to have followed you all the way here? I think we should first—”
The cold night wind blew, gently lifting Ran Mingyue’s soft hair. A mischievous strand went straight for Li Guang’s nose.
“Achoo!” Li Guang felt so itchy on her nose and face. She tried to hold it in, but no matter how much she gritted her teeth, she couldn’t. She sneezed loudly. She quickly covered her mouth, like a startled rabbit. The feeling of embarrassment rushed over her, and her ears turned red.
“I’m sorry—” Li Guang wished she could sew her mouth shut and pinch her nose. She knew her gaffe and couldn’t raise her head, saying in a daze, “I didn’t do it on purpose, Sister Mingyue.”
Ran Mingyue took a slow breath for two seconds at this long-lost address. The other side of her face, which had been in the shadow, finally appeared under the moonlight. The corner of her eye lifted slightly, and she smiled.
“It’s okay.”
Wen Yingzhi shivered: “?”
She must be hallucinating.
Ran Mingyue, this arrogant fox, had the worst temper during night shoots.
Something was not right. This was not right.
…
Approaching four o’clock, Li Guang, in a state of confusion, led the two back to the security office to register.
Car owner: Ran Mingyue. Number of vehicles under her name: 5. (Model and license plate number omitted here)
Address: Building A-1 (combined with Building 2)
Li Guang operated the system to enter the information unskillfully. Ran Mingyue stood by and waited.
“Done.” Li Guang was now fully awake. She realized that Ran Mingyue was a resident here.
When Chai Ning told her that many celebrities lived here, she didn’t take it seriously.
How could she be so blind?
“There are so many people trying to mooch off Ran’s fame now. Just because you’ve seen her poster, does that mean you can say you know the award-winning actress?”
The casual joke from her colleague this afternoon was still ringing in her ears.
“Why are you here?”
Li Guang immediately became serious and pretended that nothing had happened, saying, “I… I’m here to help, helping a relative.”
Her expression was innocent, and she still looked like she hadn’t woken up. The red marks on her cheeks had finally faded, but her ears and the tip of her nose were still a little red, making her look naive and innocent. No one would think she was lying.
Ran Mingyue didn’t continue to ask.
Before she left, Ran Mingyue turned around and said, “Get some good rest.”
Li Guang’s conditioned reflex kicked in, and she said in a loud voice, “Have a safe trip! I wish you a good night’s sleep!”
This was part of the pre-job training, which Li Guang had memorized by heart, and this was the first time she had used it.
Ran Mingyue’s steps paused for a moment. She suppressed the corners of her lips that were about to curve up. When she took another step, Wen Yingzhi almost couldn’t keep up.
The rest of the night was quiet. Li Guang went back to the inner room to sleep.
She was woken up by Chai Ning at six o’clock for the shift change. Li Guang was full of energy again. As long as she had a good night’s sleep, she could completely forget the embarrassing events of last night.
Back at the dorm, Li Guang had no trouble falling asleep and made up for her sleep until noon.
After having a full meal in the employee cafeteria with her naturally puffy, curly, and frizzy hair, Li Guang patted her round belly and slowly strolled toward the security office.
Looking at the sky, she said, “Ha!” and startled the small birds resting on the treetops.
This was indeed the beautiful life she had hoped for!
If nothing went wrong, Li Guang was scheduled to work the overnight shift for the next half-month. She rotated shifts with Chai Ning and another colleague, Wu Ma.
“Xiao Li, come on! Do me a favor and patrol Area A. I need to check this surveillance video right now.” Chai Ning called Li Guang over.
The kind-hearted Li Guang nimbly took the baton: “Got it!”
Looking at her retreating figure, Chai Ning muttered, “People who don’t know would really think we’re hiring high school students…”
She was in charge of Area B and had already checked it once on her way here. The new security guard, Li Guang, happily began to walk around her kingdom, swinging her baton. When she arrived at Area A, she vaguely felt that this Area A seemed a little familiar.
It was just a little familiar.
But she couldn’t quite remember.
Li Guang carefully walked at a distance that was neither too far nor too close. Chai Ning had said that the residents were very mindful of their privacy, so it was impolite to get too close.
Unbeknownst to her, two precise pinhole cameras at the entrance of the villa not far away had already captured everything from a distance.
Before long, the small back garden gate of Building 2 was opened quietly.
Li Guang walked in a circle and returned to the entrance of Building 1, ready to turn around, when she bumped into Ran Mingyue, who had her hair tied in a ponytail.
“!”
Eeek!
Li Guang’s conditioned reflex kicked in again: “Good morning!”
The person who seemed to be engrossed in her morning run looked over at the sound.
Li Guang really wanted to slap herself. This obedient mouth! This brain that had firmly memorized her job training!
She still put on a smile and asked first, “Why are you here?”
After asking, she felt that it was wrong. Was that something she should be asking? The memory of last night came rushing back in an instant. Li Guang understood the playful and doubtful look in Ran Mingyue’s eyes.
“Shouldn’t I be asking you? Why are you still here?” Ran Mingyue’s gaze fell on the faint dark circles under Li Guang’s eyes, then rested on her messy hair.
She still looked like a sleepy child who hadn’t even had time to groom herself.
“Helping!” Li Guang said with certainty.
“I’m on my morning run.”
“Oh.” Li Guang couldn’t help but look at Ran Mingyue with a little more curiosity.
This was why there was a barrier between big stars and other people. Ran Mingyue even smelled good while running. Not a single drop of sweat was visible. She looked like someone who had stepped out of a magazine.
Li Guang wanted to look more, but she knew it would be impolite. So she took half a step back, held her baton, and with a clean and soft face, she smiled in a harmonious-but-weird way and said, “Then have a good run.”
Ran Mingyue: “…”
Li Guang walked away with big strides, determined not to cause any trouble for the residents.
After finishing her patrol, Li Guang returned to the security office and casually asked, “Brother Chai, you didn’t know about the resident in Building 1 before?”
“Oh, you found out?” Chai Ning looked left and right and lowered his voice, saying, “Ran, the award-winning actress, is a big star… We didn’t tell you because we didn’t know if you were her fan. But she rarely comes back, so why are you asking?”
“Nothing.” Li Guang scratched the back of her head and felt that the security team’s consideration was very reasonable. But… huh? Li Guang touched her puffy, frizzy hair, and her face changed. “My hair!”
Was she really like this in front of Ran Mingyue just now?
Li Guang: Grinning, clenching-fist cat head.jpg
“You’ve been like this all day.” Seeing Li Guang fumbling to tie her hair into a bun, Chai Ning found it amusing. “I’ll add you to the internal security team group first. You can ask questions there if you have any.”
Li Guang took out her phone, which was already vibrating.
[West Garden Villa Property Security Team (25)]
Liu Limin: [Notice: There is an important security task at the Hui Mall Department Store company at 3:30 PM, so we need to dispatch some people from our team. Xiao Chai, you arrange for seven people from Team 1 and Team 2 to go. Xiao Li worked the overnight shift yesterday, so she can rest for now.]
Li Guang was the first to respond: “Okay!”
A big task. Li Guang keenly smelled the scent of a big task.
It was really kind of her security colleagues to not assign her such a task since they knew she had worked the overnight shift.
Since the captain had already arranged it, Li Guang, being a good girl, naturally followed the instructions.
But she asked out of curiosity: “What kind of task is it that it’s so grand?”
“A celebrity fan meeting, a big star,” Chai Ning looked at the task requirements sent by the captain and told Li Guang everything without holding back. “Ran Mingyue is having a fan meeting at the Hui Mall this afternoon. Saying it’s lively would be an understatement.”
Fan meeting…
No wonder Ran Mingyue came back to stay last night. It must have been more convenient for her.
It was only a little past one o’clock, and Li Guang was slow to realize. A genuine sense of respect for Ran Mingyue rose in her heart.
A 3:30 PM event, and Ran Mingyue was out for a morning run at 12:30 AM. How dedicated!
Li Guang vaguely remembered that Ran Mingyue came back so late last night, but her skin was still so smooth and radiant, with a healthy, fair glow under the sunlight.
How great.
Li Guang thought about this for a while, and then she saw that Chai Ning had already started a game and was enthusiastically killing off his opponents.
Chai Ning turned his head and found Li Guang observing him with her chin in her hands. He gently patted Li Guang’s shoulder. “Get used to it. Life is this leisurely. Go play on your phone.”
With a decent salary and getting paid to slack off at work, Li Guang’s eyes welled up.
What a beautiful life! Ugh, ugh, ugh.jpg
Li Guang had no other hobbies. She just liked to save emojis when she was online. Before her fan group was disbanded, she would chat there, but after it was disbanded, she didn’t have that task anymore.
Just as she was about to save a “screaming beaver” emoji, Chai Ning suddenly put away his phone and stood up.
She followed his gaze and saw the Audi business car from last night driving towards them.
Chai Ning said loudly, “Good afternoon, resident!”
When he turned back, Li Guang had already collapsed to the ground like a deflated ball, quickly and listlessly hiding her head. Only a single, unruly strand of her hair still defiantly curled outward.
Li Guang fumbled with her hair, trying to hide herself from head to toe.
Chai Ning: ?
Li Guang mouthed to him: Don’t say I’m here!
She couldn’t possibly keep running into Ran Mingyue over and over again. It would seem so intentional.
If they met again, she wouldn’t be able to hide it.
Li Guang thought she would get through this one first. Anyway, Ran Mingyue wouldn’t come back often.
The window of the back seat rolled down. Ran Mingyue, wearing sunglasses, looked every bit the cool big star. She looked at Chai Ning standing in the security office, then shifted her gaze behind him for a moment before nodding and saying, “You’ve worked hard.”
Li Guang nervously bit her fingers under the desk.
After a long while, Chai Ning said, “She’s gone.”
“Oh!” Li Guang immediately stood up and breathed a sigh of relief as she saw the car carrying Ran Mingyue leave. Chai Ning looked at her. “Are you afraid of the award-winning actress Ran? She’s so nice. She even said I worked hard.”
Li Guang grinned, “Who’s afraid? I have a stuttering syndrome when I see big stars. I’m afraid of being embarrassed.”
Chai Ning was amused and chuckled, no longer paying attention to her. Li Guang played in the security office, then went out for two more patrols, enjoying her one and a half hours of mediocrity. Finally, after Chai Ning lost two games in a row, she lit up her phone screen.
She clicked into the live stream.
“Welcome, welcome, welcome our modern-day ‘Lu Daiyu’ to the live stream!”
The announcer just happened to read out her name, and Li Guang almost slid to her knees.
“Who came up with such a weird name?” Chai Ning looked up from his gray defeat screen.
Li Guang stared at her phone screen with a conflicted expression.
It was a live stream of the fan meeting, but the camera was too far away. She could only see a sea of black heads. Li Guang felt that Ran Mingyue on the stage looked as small as a stick figure.
She couldn’t see anything clearly, and she didn’t know what was being said. The live stream was just for the sound.
“Ah!!! My wife Mingyue! Me, me, me! I’m the lucky one!”
The fans shouted passionately, and the live stream audience’s chat was in a frenzy. Li Guang realized that it was time for the classic segment where they randomly selected lucky fans to go on stage and interact with Ran Mingyue. No wonder everyone was so excited.
Tsk, look at them.
Li Guang couldn’t help but scream in her heart: Me! I am the luckiest “Lu Daiyu”!
“Oh, so you’re a fan of Ran Mingyue? Then you should have applied to be the on-site security today,” Chai Ning leaned over and looked. “You could have seen the award-winning actress Ran up close. Then why were you hiding just now?”
“No way! I… I’m not really a fan.” Li Guang held her phone screen up high so she could see it more clearly.
Suddenly, there was a shriek from the crowd.
A male fan who looked shy and handsome, probably around twenty-one or twenty-two years old, went on stage.
The camera finally zoomed in. Li Guang had no time to look at the male fan. All her attention was on Ran Mingyue.
Today, Ran Mingyue was wearing a black mermaid dress that outlined her figure perfectly. The puffy and complex skirt made her look like a goddess standing on an altar, high above everyone else.
The corners of her lips were slightly curved, and the smile in her eyes dispersed her usual coldness. Her side-parted black hair was smooth and shiny. Even through the screen, Li Guang felt like she could smell the fragrance of Ran Mingyue’s hair.
Just like last night.
But Li Guang had no time to ponder that feeling in her heart.
The camera suddenly shook. The male fan, as soon as he got on stage and before the host could say anything, was so excited that his face turned red. He opened his arms and rushed toward Ran Mingyue.
“Be careful!”
Ran Mingyue was instantly startled, and the assistant’s warning from off-stage was too late. Before the male fan’s arms could fully embrace her, a security guard rushed onto the stage and pulled the enthusiastic fan away.
The live stream camera was shut off due to the incident. In the second before it closed, the smile in Ran Mingyue’s eyes was gone, and her lips were pressed into a straight line.
Li Guang, the “Lu Daiyu” who had been kicked out of the live stream, shot up from her seat like a spring that had been compressed to its limit. Her round eyes spewed out fire.
Li Guang didn’t know how to curse. The combination of her nervousness and anger only resulted in her tightly clenched fists and the repeated use of the same emojis in her mind.

You tried to sneak attack her, now you’re dead!
