- The Sect Leader Raised a Fox to His Own Detriment
- Chapter 14 - It's All My Master's Fault
From “Master” to “Little Master,” Yue Xichen found himself stuck between laughter and tears.
Regardless, A-Yin was willing to accept his guidance, and the process had been far easier than he had anticipated. In that sense, his efforts were not in vain.
“This is for you.”
Yue Xichen slipped a spatial ring from his own finger and tossed it to A-Yin.
A-Yin noticed that the masked man’s fingers were slender and pale, with well-defined knuckles. Much like his Master’s hands, they were very beautiful.
“What are you looking at?” Yue Xichen realized that even after catching the ring, A-Yin was still staring intently at his hand.
“Ah… nothing, nothing at all. I just thought…” A-Yin’s bright eyes darted around. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, “Why do you wear a mask? Is it because you aren’t good-looking?”
“Yes,” Yue Xichen replied succinctly.
“Oh…” A-Yin blinked, murmuring to himself: But your hands are so pretty!
In his experience, people with beautiful hands generally didn’t look too bad.
His thin lips moved slightly; A-Yin actually wanted to chat more about the masked man, but the aura radiating from him was like the snow covering the mountain—so cold that A-Yin was almost afraid to speak.
Even his temperament is so similar to Master…
This masked man… could he be a fanboy of my Master? That’s why he imitates him everywhere…
A-Yin curled his lip.
Withdrawing his attention from the masked man, A-Yin inspected the contents of the spatial ring. He was instantly shocked.
“You, you, you… who exactly are you? How do you have so many cultivation resources?”
Yue Xichen’s brow furrowed slightly as he reached out toward A-Yin. “You talk too much. If you don’t want it, give it back.”
“I want it!” A-Yin gripped the ring tightly in his palm like a precious treasure. “Who said I didn’t want it? Besides, how can there be a rule about taking back a gift? Since you’ve already given it to me, this ring is mine!”
Regardless of whether the other man thought he was being unreasonable, he would never return these high-grade resources now that they were in his hands.
Yue Xichen let out a helpless sigh.
There was indeed a way for a half-demon like A-Yin to cultivate. One simply had to seal the demonic power first, then stimulate the spirit roots to allow true essence to circulate through the body. In this way, he could increase his cultivation just like an ordinary cultivator.
However, while the theory was simple, the execution was far from easy.
From sealing the demonic power to stimulating the spirit roots and increasing true essence—this series of steps required a vast amount of high-grade resources to fundamentally overcome the disadvantages of a half-demon’s path to immortality.
Lingyun Mountain was the largest sect in the cultivation world. It had many disciples, and while resources were abundant, there were many mouths to feed. Distribution was always based on merit.
As the Sect Leader, if he were to arbitrarily distribute high-grade elixirs to A-Yin just to boost his cultivation, it would inevitably lead to criticism and would be unfair to the other disciples.
Furthermore, rumors were already circulating within the sect that A-Yin was his illegitimate son. This made it even more vital that he show no hint of favoritism.
Therefore, for ten years, he had been colder and more severe toward A-Yin than anyone else.
Originally, Yue Xichen didn’t think there was anything wrong with his approach.
Misled by A-Yin’s appearance, Yue Xichen always felt that the boy was still the same obedient child from years ago, forgetting that A-Yin had been in the sect for a decade.
Though his looks hadn’t changed much, A-Yin was no longer a child.
Yue Xichen was terrified that A-Yin would commit another reckless act in his quest to become strong. It was better for him to personally guide and assist A-Yin’s cultivation instead!
And so, A-Yin used the opportunity of his “punishment” of kneeling before Floating Cloud Hall to immerse himself in cultivation. Since he was in such a remote place, he wasn’t afraid of being disturbed.
Everyone else thought he had spent an entire month kneeling on the snowy summit, but in reality, he had spent that month cultivating.
In just one month, his cultivation had broken through to the fifth level of the Foundation Establishment stage. He could now truly hold his head high within the sect.
This cultivation speed was something even the genius Lin Fengfei could not match. The more A-Yin thought about it, the more he felt he was a hidden talent that had been buried by Yue Xichen.
“It’s all my Master’s fault. If he had given me these resources earlier, I would have made a name for myself in the cultivation world long ago!”
A-Yin gripped the stone sword that still refused to be unsheathed and gave it a light swing, slicing through the fluttering snowflakes.
“Perhaps… your Master has his own difficulties,” Yue Xichen spoke softly.
“What difficulties could he possibly have?” A-Yin shook his head dismissively. “I think he simply hates me.”
With that, he held out the stone sword toward Yue Xichen. “Look at the sword he gave me. Even though I’ve reached the Foundation Establishment stage, I still can’t pull it out. This proves it’s nothing but a piece of broken stone.”
“…” Yue Xichen gazed at the stone sword in A-Yin’s hand. After a moment of silence, his lips parted: “Even so, you should cherish this sword.”
“Why?”
“Because…”
Yue Xichen didn’t know how to explain at that moment. Suddenly, A-Yin lunged into his arms, wrapping his arms around the man’s waist in a tight hug.
“Little Master, you’re the best after all! If it weren’t for you, I might have been laughed at for the rest of my life!”
A-Yin took a deep breath. The scent of peach blossoms that filled his nose made him tilt his head in confusion.
This scent… why is it also exactly the same as the scent on my Master?
