The Scummy Alpha and the Fallen Movie Queen Got Married in a Flash - Chapter 6
After a long moment, the audience finally caught on and burst into laughter.
[I get it now! So that’s the real reason they wore skirts? Isn’t this like bringing cheat sheets to an exam? LOLOLOLOL!]
[Screen recorded! I’m laughing so hard my head’s about to fall off.]
[I never expected the two most glamorous beauties to be this hilarious when I tuned into the live stream.]
[The funniest part is that the production team checked but didn’t find anything! I’m dying to know what psychological trauma they’re going through right now.]
[XSWL! Pulling a knife out of a skirt? Seriously?]
[Sexy wives exploiting glitches online (not really)!]
Because the scene was so absurd and comical, viewers turned it into GIFs and memes, including but not limited to “Yu Ningqi: Look me in the eye, you little brat” and “Lu Shuangjiang: Would you like this bag of cumin powder or this bag of chili flakes?” Through sheer coincidence, it even went viral and trended on social media.
The production team had initially worried that this episode’s departure from their usual style might cause viewers to lose interest. Instead, the show’s popularity surged. Their emotions now felt like a rollercoaster ride, and they quickly instructed the technical crew to zoom the cameras in closer.
The others were clearly stunned by Lu Shuangjiang and Yu Ningqi’s actions, their faces dazed.
But with a knife and seasonings, preparing the ingredients became much easier.
The speared fish were still alive, flopping wildly on the large rock, trying to leap back into the water. The group, composed of celebrities and pampered young ladies, scrambled to catch them, only to fail and get splashed in the face.
The scene descended into utter chaos.
Lu Shuangjiang glanced at the commotion and walked over to Yu Ningqi.
Seeing her approach, Yu Ningqi’s listless expression vanished, and she smiled at Lu Shuangjiang.
Ever since we arrived on the island, Yu Ningqi hasn’t seemed quite herself, Lu Shuangjiang thought, taking the knife from Yu Ningqi’s hand. The Omega’s grip was loose, allowing Lu Shuangjiang to easily pull it free. She retrieved her only bottle of water from her backpack and handed it to Yu Ningqi. “Go wait in the shade. It’s too hot here.”
Then, with a few swift chops, she stunned the thrashing fish.
The mineral water, stored in her backpack, felt refreshingly cool to the touch.
Yu Ningqi blinked slowly, holding the water bottle, before walking into the shade of the trees.
She looked at Lu Shuangjiang.
In the sunlight, the Alpha deftly wielded a knife, expertly cleaning the fish laid out on a large rock.
Sensing her gaze, Lu Shuangjiang turned to meet her eyes for a few seconds before abruptly turning away. After fiddling with something for a moment, she turned back, extending her palm toward Yu Ningqi.
In her palm was a freshly drawn little heart. With a gentle retraction and then a push forward, it looked as if she were launching the heart at Yu Ningqi.
Yu Ningqi couldn’t help but smile at the sight of the heart, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
*****
[She’s smiling! She’s smiling!!]
[Both of her only two smiles have been for Lu Shuangjiang. She’s so cold to everyone else—what legendary double standards!]
[It’s only been half a day, but it’s already so sweet! I’m going to be overwhelmed by the sweetness, waaaah!]
[Damn it, I’m actually charmed by that little heart.]
[Lu Shuangjiang is so good at this! I don’t care, I’m shipping them already!]
[I wanted to say this when Lu swapped Yu’s knife for the water bottle earlier—Lu’s gaze is so! doting!]
The guests couldn’t see the live comments, so Lu Shuangjiang remained unaware that viewers were already dissecting every interaction for romantic hints. She turned back to processing the fish and rabbit meat.
The rabbit had initially been assigned to others, but after a long struggle, patches of fur still clung to the carcass. Unable to watch any longer, Lu Shuangjiang took over. For someone with a natural sword heart, filleting a rabbit and slicing fish was child’s play.
The others tried to help but only got in the way. Their awkward, wallflower-like poses at the edges of the scene sent the live comments into another round of laughter.
[Without comparison, there’s no harm.]
[Did Lu Shuangjiang train professionally? Look at her knife skills—the cuts are so precise and beautiful!]
[Is this what it means to have a pro carry the whole team? I’m obsessed!]
While the scene made for great entertainment, even Wen Jiao, the pampered heiress known as the “little princess of the elite,” felt a pang of guilt watching from the sidelines.
“Shuangjiang, is there anything we can help with?”
Lu Shuangjiang glanced at them.
Truthfully, there wasn’t. She could handle everything faster alone. But seeing the eager, hopeful expressions on their faces, she swallowed her initial response and nodded. “There is.”
“The filleted fish needs to be marinated with seasoning. We also need a flat, thin stone slab and some sharpened branches. I have a small knife you can use to sharpen the branches.”
Visibly relieved, the group breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Lin Han and Jiang Tang volunteered to find a flat stone slab, while Wen Jiao and Jiang Lianqing offered to sharpen tree branches.
Gu Ruyun smiled. “Then Qin Yuan and I will take care of marinating the fish.”
Hearing this, Qin Yuan froze, about to protest when Gu Ruyun grabbed her arm and pulled her away.
Once they were alone, Qin Yuan yanked her hand free, her voice low and laced with resentment. “What are you playing at? We’re not actually here for a dating show.”
She narrowed her eyes. “Don’t tell me you’ve suddenly developed a conscience and decided to back out. We’ve come too far to stop now. If we quit now, everything we’ve worked for will be for nothing!”
Gu Ruyun glanced at her coldly. “Qin Yuan, don’t speak to me in that tone. I may have changed bodies, but that doesn’t give you the right to interfere with me.”
“Soft-hearted?” Gu Ruyun casually straightened her rumpled sleeve, which Qin Yuan had tugged out of place. “You’re just being too obvious. If I’m not mistaken, you were about to say you wouldn’t go, and then drag Yu Ningqi into the crosshairs, weren’t you?”
With her sleeve adjusted, Gu Ruyun scoffed. “You’d better hope this world remains sealed off forever. If another mission agent enters, I’ll replace your brainless, worthless ass in an instant.”
Through everyone’s combined efforts, the lunch was exceptionally lavish.
Thinly sliced meat sizzled over the fire, turning a mouthwatering golden-brown as it dripped with savory juices. Sprinkled with cumin and chili powder, the aroma filled the air. Fish skewered on sharpened branches roasted over the flames, its skin crisp and crackling while the flesh remained tender and succulent.
[I’m getting hungry just watching this. Is this actually a mukbang show?]
[I’m hungry too!]
[I really want some grilled meat. It smells so good!]
[I should have waited until after lunch to watch this livestream.]
[To be honest, even though I just ate, I’m still drooling QAQ]
Yu Ningqi remained listless, the delicious food failing to revive her spirits. She only picked at her meal, taking a few half-hearted bites.
Lu Shuangjiang recalled that Yu Ningqi hadn’t seemed this way on the plane.
Could it be a case of traveler’s diarrhea?
“No appetite? Would you like some fruit?” Lu Shuangjiang picked up a washed raspberry and offered it to Yu Ningqi. The small, round, red berry looked plump and adorable.
These wild-grown berries weren’t purely sweet; their flavor leaned more toward tart-sweet, which might help Yu Ningqi regain some appetite.
Yu Ningqi didn’t take the raspberry. Instead, she leaned forward, bracing her hands on either side, and bit the berry directly from Lu Shuangjiang’s hand. Their soft lips brushed lightly against her fingertips before parting.
Lu Shuangjiang’s heart suddenly quickened.
She withdrew her hand, picked up another raspberry with a perfectly straight face, and asked, “More?”
Yu Ningqi shook her head and sat back down. “No, thank you.”
Lu Shuangjiang regretfully popped the raspberry into her own mouth, unable to quite pinpoint the source of her disappointment.
But compared to the earlier berries, this one seemed noticeably sweeter.
