The Scumbag Omega Chases After Platonic Love - Chapter 14
At Houde Psychological Counseling Center, Nai Bing had unknowingly completed her one-month probationary period. Her performance earned an A rating, and she received her full salary plus a bonus.
The boss credited her success entirely to her two exclusive clients, noting that her performance surpassed even that of veteran employees.
After finishing a consultation, Nai Bing returned to her desk to write her work log. Remembering that she hadn’t contacted Yi Zhanying since their goodnight texts the previous evening, she opened their chat window and stared at it. Is she busy? Should I poke her?
“What’s up, Ice Dog?”
Though not an instant reply, it came within a minute. Why is she always so quick? Nai Bing thought, I haven’t even figured out what to say yet.
“Could it be you’re missing me? No way…”
Yi Zhanying immediately retracted the message, clearly feeling guilty.
Nai Bing muttered to herself, I do miss you, but I’m being so stubborn and won’t admit it. Why am I like this? I’ll end up hating myself for being so dishonest.
“Is your brother arriving at the North Station tonight?” Yi Zhanying asked, having clearly seen and liked Nai Bing’s morning post on social media.
“Yeah, he just finished the college entrance exams and hasn’t gotten his scores yet. We agreed with our parents that he’d come straight to me.”
“Then I’ll pick you up after work and we’ll go to the station together to welcome him.”
“Okay, thanks, Yingying.”
The plan was settled naturally, with only twenty minutes remaining until the end of the workday.
Nai Bing sat leisurely, propping her chin in her hand as she contemplated her relationship with Yi Zhanying. The other woman had effortlessly woven herself into her life, becoming like a member of the family.
Yi Zhanying thought of her while cooking, and when doing laundry, she’d casually wash Nai Bing’s clothes too. Now that her younger brother was coming, they were going to pick him up together.
It was all a butterfly effect. Who could have imagined things would turn out this way? And it had only been a little over a month.
Nai Bing clocked out on time, ignoring the curious glances of her colleagues as she slid into the Audi R8. Yi Zhanying fastened her seatbelt, noting that Nai Bing’s dark circles looked much better than they had a few days ago.
“Did you drive over early, Yingying?”
Yi Zhanying hadn’t changed out of her formal attire yet, her suit jacket tossed onto the back seat. “I left forty minutes early to avoid traffic.”
The drive was smooth, punctuated by occasional stops at red lights. Nai Bing recalled their first meeting, when Yi Zhanying had fainted in the street. Could that have been due to sleep deprivation as well?
Her profile is so cute, Nai Bing thought, realizing she was becoming increasingly captivated by Yi Zhanying’s beauty, especially when she looked drowsy and sleepy, occasionally rubbing her eyes like a kitten. She couldn’t get enough of it.
Yi Zhanying glanced back with a smile. “If you keep looking at me like that, I’ll misunderstand again.”
“…Ah, sorry.”
The map showed they were about ten kilometers from the train station, a twenty-minute drive without traffic. In the silence, Nai Bing’s phone buzzed in her bag. She checked the caller ID and answered, “Hello? Xiaobo.”
“Sis, I’m at the station. Which subway line should I take to get to you? And I’m not sure how to buy a ticket. Can you help me?” Her 17-year-old brother was a clueless newbie, taking the subway out of town for the first time. It was understandable he’d struggle with the machines.
“Just wait there and don’t wander off. Find a seat and stay put.”
“Wait, ‘you guys’?” Nai Bo asked. “Is that the older sister you mentioned before? The one who’s your landlord now?”
“Yeah, that’s her.” Nai Bing glanced at Yi Zhanying, who was focused on driving.
“Wow, that’s great! I was wondering what kind of beauty my sister’s potential suitor might be. This is exciting!” Nai Bo’s guess was that anyone offering such attentive help must have romantic intentions.
“Don’t meddle…”
As soon as she hung up, several WeChat messages flooded in. Sensing her troublesome brother would cause more chaos, she locked her phone and tossed it back into her bag.
“What did he say?” Yi Zhanying asked.
“He just wanted to know where we were,” Nai Bing replied, covering her face with a white lie.
“Xiao Qi mentioned you two are really close. I’m curious what kind of brother you have. It’s funny, neither of us are only children.”
By then, they had arrived at the North Station. After getting out of the car, they followed the shared map’s instructions to Exit B2. There, a handsome young man with the standard high school haircut sat beside a large canvas suitcase and a duffel bag.
“Xiao Bo!” Nai Bing called out, grabbing Yi Zhanying’s hand and running over.
“Sis, and this is…” Nai Bo looked up at the two women, instantly struck by the beauty of his sister and the stranger. Ever since he was a child, Xiao Bing had always been the most beautiful person in his eyes, but even seeing this woman couldn’t help but make him sigh in admiration.
Noticing her brother’s gaze, Nai Bing quickly released Yi Zhanying’s hand. “This is Yi Zhanying, my good friend. And this is my younger brother, Nai Bo.”
“Hello,” Yi Zhanying said with a slight bow and a smile.
“Hello…” Nai Bo replied.
Nai Bo took the initiative to put his luggage in the trunk and climbed into the back seat. When Nai Bing tried to sit beside him, she was urged to take the front passenger seat instead.
During the drive, Yi Zhanying observed the high schooler’s youthful face in the rearview mirror. It was clear they were siblings; their resemblance was striking, even down to the identical blank, goofy expressions they wore when lost in thought.
“Xiao Bing,” she whispered.
“What is it?”
“Your brother is so handsome.”
So, where would her brother be staying? Nai Bing had rented a place in advance, about three kilometers from the city’s central transportation hub.
With the college entrance exam vacation lasting exactly three months, she had secured a short-term rental for the quarter. The two women helped him unpack, quickly organizing the clothes from the canvas suitcase. Only the bulky burlap sack remained.
Nai Bo pulled out two bundles tied with rope and grinned. “These are sun-dried peanuts. Mom and Dad wanted me to bring some for you and your colleagues to share.”
Grinning sheepishly, Nai Bo extended the two packages to Yi Zhanying. “These are homegrown peanuts. We don’t have much to offer, but we wanted to thank you for taking care of my sister. Please don’t mind the humble gift.”
“How could I mind?” Yi Zhanying accepted the packages, touched by the gesture. “You didn’t have to come all this way to deliver them personally.” It was the first time she’d ever received a gift of peanuts—naturally grown in the countryside—and she was genuinely delighted. This felt far more thoughtful than the clothes and shoes some people gave as gifts.
With the exchange complete, the three headed to a Yunnan restaurant in the mall for lunch.
While Yi Zhanying stepped away to take a phone call, Nai Bo grabbed his sister and shook her frantically, nearly losing his voice in the process. “Oh my god, Bing-jie! This landlady is gorgeous. She’s absolutely slaying! Are you two living together? Is she keeping you hidden away in a golden cage? You’re together, right? Tell me!”
“Ah, I can’t breathe! Stop choking me!”
“Waaah! Is this the kind of plot I’ve been waiting for? A gentle, beautiful Omega chasing after my sister…”
“You’ve been reading too many novels!”
*******
After some persistent nagging, Nai Bing finally calmed down a bit. The high school student couldn’t help but fidget, his leg bouncing nervously. If that’s the case, Nai Bo is going to go all out to set them up, she thought.
“Was that a work call?” Nai Bing asked Yi Zhanying when she returned.
“It was my mom, checking in on how things are at home.”
“Yingying-jie, why don’t I switch seats with you? You two can sit together.” Without waiting for anyone’s agreement, Nai Bo picked up his bowl, moved to the opposite side of the table, and self-consciously offered his seat.
“You…” Nai Bing stared at him, unsure what to say. This is way too obvious! she thought. Calling her “jie” on their first meeting? It’s so cringeworthy and shameless.
After the seat switch, the group fell into casual conversation. Nai Bing noticed her younger brother was much more talkative than she was. She wondered what he’d been through over the years to transform from a quiet introvert into such a chatterbox. He was grilling Yi Zhanying like he was conducting a census, prying into her family history until he’d uncovered every detail. So embarrassing, utterly embarrassing…
Later that night, after dropping Yi Zhanying off at her small apartment, the two sisters drove home in silence. An awkward tension hung thick in the air.
Nai Bing was too embarrassed to speak at first, the memory of her brother’s oily behavior still giving her goosebumps.
“Your brother is surprisingly outgoing,” Yi Zhanying finally broke the silence. “Do you know what he told me?”
“That brat has no manners,” she said, her gaze fixed on the scenery outside the window.
“He said he’d work four jobs to earn your betrothal money after we get married. Hahaha…” Yi Zhanying chuckled softly, her laughter utterly charming.
“Well, I appreciate the thought, but it’s not necessary. I’ll earn my own betrothal money.” She quickly covered her mouth, realizing she’d just tacitly acknowledged… that.
“Really? Then you don’t need to prepare as much. I don’t want you to overwork yourself.”
“Isn’t it a bit early to be discussing this?”
Back in their apartment, Nai Bing busied herself tidying up, then called her parents to reassure them about her meeting with her brother earlier.
“The peanuts arrived. Mm-hmm, my friend said she liked them.”
“I have enough money, so don’t worry.”
Having finished her tasks, she turned to find Yi Zhanying sprawled on the sofa, scrolling through her phone with two cotton pads stuck to her cheeks. Suddenly, her arms went limp, and she let out a soft, exasperated sigh.
“Bing-gou…” she cooed sweetly.
“What’s wrong?” Nai Bing responded, hurrying over.
“Hug~” Yi Zhanying opened her arms wide.
Nai Bing froze for a moment before obediently squeezing into the narrow space beside Yi Zhanying. Forced to lie on her side, she wrapped her arms around the woman, noticing the damp cotton pads pressed against Yi Zhanying’s cheeks. Without a word, she began gently removing her makeup.
“Your touch is so gentle,” Yi Zhanying murmured, her eyes closed as she savored the sensation.
“I don’t want to hurt you.”
“Then hurt me.”
Nai Bing sensed something strange in Yi Zhanying’s tone, though she couldn’t quite grasp its meaning.
What happened next was a blur. Suddenly, she found herself pinned beneath Yi Zhanying, their lips meeting in a deep, lingering kiss. Yi Zhanying’s breath fell like gentle rain, and Nai Bing could faintly hear the delicate popping sounds of bubbles in her throat, their lips connected by glistening strands of saliva.
“You taste so sweet,” Yi Zhanying whispered, her voice laced with both obsession and guilt.
Nai Bing’s mind drifted between exhilaration and detachment, as if she had just returned from a trip to outer space, still disoriented. The tender, rain-like kisses returned, their refreshing, refined sensation washing over her like a gentle breeze.
When Yi Zhanying began sucking on her fingers, her eyes darkening, Nai Bing noticed the room filling with the woman’s pheromones. She admired the woman’s passionate beauty, yet her own body remained as calm as ever.
After a long silence, Yi Zhanying quietly rose and went to the bathroom, filling the tub with cold water.
“Yingying, are you feeling unwell?” Nai Bing asked softly, knocking on the door. Despite her hesitation, she couldn’t help but voice her concern.
“I don’t feel well,” Yi Zhanying replied.
Nai Bing thought she heard crying. Her mind clouded, she didn’t think twice before opening the door and stepping inside. She found Yi Zhanying sitting in the tub with her back turned, clutching a small yellow rubber ducky. It was just a toy…
Yi Zhanying glanced back and extended a hand. “Since you’re already here, why don’t you come closer?”
Nai Bing carefully stepped across the wet floor, took off her shoes, and placed her bare feet on the non-slip mat. The room was filled with the lingering scent of aromatherapy, and the scene unfolded like a painted scroll. Despite her asexuality, Yi Zhanying could meet anyone’s gaze directly, without flinching or looking away.
“What’s your ideal type?” Yi Zhanying turned, her cold, wet hand entwining with Nai Bing’s. A smile played on her lips, and droplets clung to her eyelashes, making her look both alluring and endearing.
Nai Bing shook her head. “I don’t have an ideal type. I’m a very boring person.”
“Has there ever been a moment when you desperately wanted to have someone?”
She paused, considering. “I don’t need to possess anyone. I just want friends to keep me company.”
Someone like me is probably destined to grow old alone—slow to warm up and utterly clueless, Nai Bing silently berated herself. Liking me must be exhausting.
