The Scandalous Actress Needs to Strive GL - Chapter 5
The sunlight gradually illuminated the room. Qiu Wan finished packing her luggage, but before she could leave, her assistant pulled her to the set to start putting on makeup. She froze, looking at the assistant director’s hesitant and awkward expression, and roughly understood that she didn’t need to leave.
“Sister Qiu Wan, the director asked me to tell you that he’s inviting the main actors for a meal tonight.” The little assistant walked over, her face full of joy.
“Mhm.” Qiu Wan responded listlessly, her mind still on the indignant Meng Ranli. Since she probably couldn’t kick her out, this “sister’s” bad mood was undisguised. The people in the crew were snobbish and avoided her, and only the little assistant provided by Mu’s Entertainment was still supporting her.
In the evening, the group gathered at a hotel next to the set.
Besides the director and assistant director, there were the actors playing the male lead and second male lead, as well as Meng Ranli, who played the female lead, the second female lead, and Qiu Wan. There weren’t many people, but there was a lot of scheming.
Meng Ranli held a wine glass and sat down next to Qiu Wan, showing a rare trace of a smile. She tossed her hair: “I toast Miss Qiu a drink. Please take care of me in the future.”
“I’m not good at drinking.” Qiu Wan secretly moved away. She disliked the strong perfume scent on Meng Ranli and even more, disliked clinking glasses with Meng Ranli.
When she was the prime minister’s daughter, she was rarely allowed to drink, except for obligatory toasts at certain banquets, such as when the princess raised a glass, which had to be shared.
However, her private alcohol tolerance was actually decent; it just depended on who she was drinking with. Drinking with people she disliked? Sorry, she wasn’t in the mood.
“Miss Qiu, are you not giving me face? I suppose it’s different when you have someone covering for you.” The smile on Meng Ranli’s face gradually turned into sarcasm. She had thought Qiu Wan was an actress with no background and no standing, but unexpectedly, she was a hard rock to kick.
Remembering the company’s instructions not to make trouble for people from the Mu’s, humph, she wanted to see which big tree this shameless woman had climbed.
“Come, everyone, let’s have a drink together. Let’s be harmonious in the future.” The director, seeing that the situation was getting tense, quickly spoke up to smooth things over. He raised his glass and drank it all. The others, seeing this, gave face and emptied their glasses.
Meng Ranli tilted her head back and drank it all, then looked at Qiu Wan, who had only taken a small sip, and sneered, “Miss Qiu not only looks down on me, but she doesn’t even give the director face. Aren’t you acting like quite the superstar?”
That sentence made everyone else look over. The director’s face visibly darkened. Qiu Wan thought of the assistant waiting outside, said nothing, brought the wine glass back to her lips, and drank it all. Her face, which was already slightly red, instantly flushed with crimson. The original host’s body got flushed too easily.
Meng Ranli, who was closest, subconsciously licked her lips. Setting everything else aside, this woman was truly an enchantress. Her eyes darkened obscurely. She had thought it would take some effort, but she hadn’t expected her alcohol tolerance to be so poor. In that case, she couldn’t be blamed.
After the gathering dispersed, Qiu Wan left alone but didn’t see her little assistant. She frowned, rejected the director’s good intentions, and leaned against the door to call her assistant.
But her hand was suddenly grabbed: “Going back together?” Meng Ranli leaned in with an ambiguous look in her eyes, her calculations almost undisguised. She recalled the woman’s attitude towards her and thought she must be someone who liked women.
As long as she led the person to the room, then she didn’t know if this woman would be willing, but the man in that room certainly would be.
“No need, I’m waiting for someone.” Qiu Wan blinked hard, then forcefully pulled her hand away.
A busy signal came from the phone. Meng Ranli pressed her advantage and wrapped her arm around Qiu Wan’s: “You mean your assistant? I told her to go back to the set first. She probably doesn’t have time to come over right now.”
“Let go.” Qiu Wan shook off the arm and stumbled a little. She wasn’t the original host; being verbally unrestrained was her limit. Physical contact was a no go, especially since the original host had never been truly intimate with anyone.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to get closer to me? Now I’m giving you the chance. Hurry up and come with me, don’t ask for trouble.” Meng Ranli lost her patience after being shaken off, and her tone became slightly hostile.
“Let go.”
“Sorry, I’m late.” Two voices rang out simultaneously. The room opposite had opened its door at some point, and a woman in a casual suit and sunglasses stood there.
Mu Qingchen didn’t know what was wrong with her. After receiving the news of The Grand Historian of Great Song crew’s dinner from Quan Shan, she became anxious and ended up coming here herself.
When she first saw Qiu Wan entangled with another woman, she regretted it and was about to leave quietly, but she noticed something was off from Qiu Wan’s repeated attempts to shake her off.
“I am Qiu Wan’s friend. I won’t trouble Miss Meng.” Mu Qingchen walked over and supported Qiu Wan’s arm. Surprisingly, the woman didn’t shake her off but leaned onto her obediently.
Meng Ranli saw that they seemed to genuinely know each other, and this woman whose face was half-hidden by sunglasses even recognized her. Although this hotel had good privacy, it was possible to run into people in the industry. If someone misunderstood that she was harassing Qiu Wan, it would be difficult to explain.
She hesitated, gave a cold snort, and turned to leave. Anyway, there was no rush. The filming was far from over, and there would be plenty of opportunities.
Taking the person back to the set, Mu Qingchen asked for the room number and helped Qiu Wan inside. She looked at the person staring at her, took off her sunglasses, and said coldly, “Are you sober? Or are you not drunk?”
Qiu Wan didn’t speak. She looked at Mu Qingchen’s pure and exquisite face, which was covered in frost, reached out, pulled the woman, and pushed her onto the sofa.
“Let go. Do you know who I am?” Mu Qingchen’s heart panicked. The breath carrying a slight smell of alcohol fell on the tip of her nose, eroding her sanity bit by bit.
“The jerk who stole my first time and won’t take responsibility! I’m going to report you to the yamen and make you responsible for me.” Qiu Wan lowered her head, pretending to be confused even though her mind was clear. She lowered her head and lightly kissed the corner of the lips she coveted, then moved down and gently bit the enticing earlobe.
Mu Qingchen instinctively leaned back, breathing rapidly. The arms that were initially blocking her chest gradually relaxed and tightly wrapped around the person on top of her.
She recalled that night, her sanity being swallowed up little by little by Qiu Wan’s fiery kiss. Since you are the one who wants me to be responsible, don’t you ever regret it.
The sober person didn’t want to be sober, and the drunk person pretended to be drunk. The two lone boats floated and sank on the sea, eventually falling over with the waves, willingly sinking into the deep sea.
In the moment of drowsy unconsciousness, Mu Qingchen’s eyes, moist with tears, looked at Qiu Wan’s sleeping face. Her gaze became blurry for a moment. She thought to herself, as the CEO of Mu’s, having been celibate for so many years, maybe having a discreet bed partner wasn’t such a bad idea.
