- Chapter 9 - Madam and Master No Longer Have to Worry
Inside the study, Bo Yizhou closed his laptop and rubbed his temples with his eyes shut.
He picked up his phone and tapped on the messages from Lu Keran.
Lu Keran: Are you not at the company?
Lu Keran: ? Are you dead?
He glanced at the time. They were sent at 2:30 PM, and it was already 6:30 PM.
Bo Yizhou: “Wait.”
Bo Yizhou: Not dead.
Less than a second after sending it, the other side immediately bombarded him with messages.
Lu Keran: Oh, you are alive.
Lu Keran: It must be hard for you to find time in your busy schedule to brush me off.
Lu Keran: 666.
Lu Keran: You cold and heartless man.
Bo Yizhou was left speechless.
Bo Yizhou: “Wait.”
Bo Yizhou: Is there something?
It was not that he was a man of few words, but rather that Lu Keran was the type of person who would become overly exuberant if given even a little bit of attention. Everyone found it unbelievable that Bo Yizhou had such a friend. After all, he appeared stern and humorless to outsiders, so his friends should have been the same type or at least similar.
Lu Keran: That is it?
Lu Keran: Just three words?
Inside a villa in Yujing Garden, Lu Keran looked at those precious three words with a face of utter disbelief. Please, he is the one who asked me to do something. Would it kill him to say a few more words?
Bo Yizhou: “Wait.” Are you going to say it or not?
Lu Keran: I will say it, I will say it.
Lu Keran: That little star is my perverted young uncle’s new favorite.
Having obtained the answer he wanted, Bo Yizhou closed his phone and walked out of the room.
Back in the villa, the person waiting for a reply looked at his silent phone and laughed in frustration, silently raising a middle finger at the screen.
Unaware of being despised, Bo Yizhou went downstairs but did not see the people he was looking for.
Butler Chen stepped forward with great discernment. “Mr. Gu and the Young Master are in the back garden. Should I call them back?”
Bo Yizhou shook his head slightly. “No need. I will go myself.”
Watching his departing back, Butler Chen’s eyes filled with tears of joy. A gratified smile appeared on his face, and he almost waved a handkerchief to see him off.
Mr. Gu and Sir are truly a match made in heaven. Madam and Master no longer have to worry about Sir being alone for the rest of his life.
Unaware of the butler’s strange thoughts, Bo Yizhou headed toward the back garden.
At that moment, the two people he was looking for were playing Rock Paper Scissors.
“Rock!”
“Scissors!”
“Hahaha, you lost again!” Gu Wancheng’s arrogant laughter rang out.
Approaching them, Bo Yizhou saw Gu Wancheng triumphantly waving a fist in front of Chaochao. Chaochao ignored the gloating and instead looked at his own hand with a dejected expression, looking like he wanted to cry but could not.
“You lost! You lost!”
Chaochao’s silence only fueled Gu Wancheng’s arrogance as he kept repeating those words.
Finally, Chaochao snapped. He glared at Gu Wancheng. “Are you not annoying? You are really hateful!”
“Ouch.”
Confirmed. These two were definitely no older than three years old. Bo Yizhou gave a light cough.
The two turned their heads simultaneously and saw the man standing behind them.
Chaochao’s depression vanished instantly. “Father!”
Gu Wancheng immediately sat up straight. “Husband.”
Bo Yizhou nodded expressionlessly. He swept his gaze over them, making them feel inexplicably nervous as they huddled closer together.
He spoke: “Prepare to go eat.”
“Okay!”
“Okay!”
The two followed behind him, silent the whole way.
Walking to the dining table, Chaochao cheered at the sight of the lavish dishes. He sat down impatiently, eyes sparkling as he looked at the food.
Gu Wancheng let out a soft laugh at the sight and sat to the boy’s right, while Bo Yizhou sat opposite them. Whenever Gu Wancheng looked up, he was bound to see him.
Gu Wancheng hesitated: “Wait.”
He was certain that tonight’s meal would be uncomfortable. After all, he had not had a husband since he was young, and suddenly having one was a bit awkward.
Thus, he chose to bury his head in the food. He picked up a piece of braised fish and put it in his mouth. His eyes lit up.
It was delicious! The sauce was rich and goes perfectly with rice.
He tried another dish, Pineapple Sweet and Sour Pork. The sweet and sour sauce had absorbed the fruitiness of the pineapple, coating the tenderloin which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. One bite was incredibly satisfying.
He curved his eyes in happiness, finding the food too good to stop. He instantly forgot about the awkwardness, fully immersed in the delicacies.
Beside him, Chaochao also ate without looking up. The two of them looked as if they had been starving for three days. Bo Yizhou, sitting across from Gu Wancheng, watched as his cheeks puffed out. Paired with his cold face, it created a sort of gap moe.
Seemingly infected by the two, Bo Yizhou, who was not particularly hungry, unexpectedly ate more than usual.
After finishing, Bo Yizhou did not leave but sat there quietly watching them.
Chaochao had a small mouth and ate slowly. As for the other person, Bo Yizhou concluded after observing that he simply ate a lot. Luckily, he could afford to feed him.
After eating and drinking his fill, Gu Wancheng finally looked up. He was startled by the man still sitting there. “Why are you still here?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it.
Damn, a slip of the tongue. How could I talk to my financial backer like that?
Fortunately, the backer did not seem to react to the comment. “Are you full?”
What does that mean?
Gu Wancheng thought for a moment and said, “I am full.”
“Then go to sleep.”
Ah! So soon? He was not ready yet. Gu Wancheng’s face heated up as his imagination ran wild.
“What are you thinking about?”
Bo Yizhou suddenly interrupted his thoughts. Gu Wancheng looked over and saw the other man looking at him strangely. He realized he had misunderstood. In that moment, he was filled with such shame and anger that he felt like he was going to die. His whole body felt hot.
The head he had raised finally slumped down.
Unfortunately, he just missed the smile on the other man’s face.
Chaochao did not understand the strange behavior of the two adults. He reached out and tugged at Gu Wancheng’s clothes. “Papa, it is time for bed. Let us sleep together.”
Chaochao’s words provided a perfect exit for the embarrassed Gu Wancheng. He took a deep breath, stood up abruptly, and startled the little boy next to him.
Under the child’s confused gaze, he reached out, picked him up firmly, and turned to leave without looking at the other man once.
Bo Yizhou thought: He really is very shy.
Suddenly lifted into the air, Chaochao hugged his father’s neck. Facing his father, he blinked and waved goodbye.
Bo Yizhou was in a good mood and waved back. Chaochao’s eyes widened, then curved as he laughed happily.
Gu Wancheng, who did not dare to look back, was naturally unaware of their silent interaction.
Returning to the room, he set Chaochao down and stretched his arms. He had to admit the kid had some weight to him; he was a solid little thing.
“Are you going to bathe yourself or should I help you?”
“I can wash myself.”
Gu Wancheng thought about it. In the original owner’s memory, Chaochao did indeed bathe himself, so he felt relieved. “Then go wash up quickly. I will go get your pajamas.”
“Okay!” Chaochao’s obedient look made him temporarily forget what had just happened. He rubbed the boy’s head and went to get the pajamas.
Chaochao’s room was not far away, and he returned in two minutes. By the time he got back, the sound of water was coming from the bathroom; the boy was already washing.
He knocked on the door, and the sound of water stopped. Following the sound of the doorknob turning, a crack opened, and Chaochao poked his head out. After Gu Wancheng handed him the clothes, he received an obedient “Thank you.”
Gu Wancheng smiled and nodded. After the door closed again, he lay on the sofa and picked up a book to read.
As he read, the sleepiness that had been interrupted earlier surged back. His consciousness gradually blurred, and the book in his hand slipped, falling to the floor.
The floor was covered with a rug, so the book made no sound when it fell.
He also did not hear that someone had just entered.
