The Ruined Heiress’s Canary Is A Secret Tycoon - Chapter 2
“Ding-ding-ding.”
The wind chime at the entrance clinked.
A man dressed in a black suit respectfully helped another tall woman push open the coffee shop door.
The woman’s hair was as black as ink, cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall, as glossy and smooth as satin. She wore a black pantsuit and sunglasses, carrying a gust of fragrant air with her as she walked over to take a seat. It was a scent of cold sandalwood, very crisp and refreshing.
Xiao Ai wiped her hands on her apron and hesitantly walked over to the table by the window.
“Hello…”
“I’m sorry, but we have plans tonight, so we’re closing early.”
The woman did not reply. Instead, she took off her sunglasses. At that moment, Xiao Ai froze in her tracks.
It was an exceptionally striking face. Her features were stunningly defined and three dimensional, with a high nose bridge and deep set eyes. The corners of her eyes tilted upward slightly, adding a touch of alluring charm. She was breathtakingly beautiful, with a fiercely captivating presence. The traits of a mixed race beauty were prominent, yet her Eastern charm remained distinct. With just a single lift of her head, she was mesmerizingly seductive.
She didn’t speak. Her eyes fell upon the bar counter where Ye Siyu had been standing just moments ago.
Now, however, that slender and graceful silhouette was gone. Only a faint trace of lingering fragrance seemed to remain.
She narrowed her eyes, the expression in them turning somewhat cold. “…Then it seems I didn’t come at the right time.”
At that moment, the television hanging above the bar counter was still broadcasting, though it had switched to a new report.
[Charles Group has fully taken over the business operations of the Ye Group. Can this newly acquired commercial empire set sail once again?]
[Charles China Group holds a re-veiling ceremony at the former headquarters building of the Ye Group. The helmsman is the eldest daughter of a foreign old money wealth family who previously never had a Chinese name. She has strictly requested that all future press releases must use her Chinese name, Fei Shi. This also marks her first public appearance.]
[Hot topics trending online discuss the mysterious successor of this family. Rumored to have gone missing and perished previously, no one expected her return to completely reshape the commercial landscape. Utilizing the Ye Group’s funds, she rapidly reclaimed absolute power and swiftly cut away the rogue branches…]
The sound of the television echoed through the coffee shop as the sky outside pressed down, dark and heavy. It looked as though an unstoppable storm was brewing.
The female anchor’s voice sounded distant. “Next, this station has captured a snippet of the footage from this public appearance…”
The content on the television cut to the black-haired woman stepping coldly onto the main podium, her aura sharp and carrying the fierce decisiveness of a cutthroat executive. She lifted her eyes and stared coldly at the screen. Her exquisite brow and eyes, combined with her slightly mixed race features, possessed a soul-striking beauty. Yet, her naturally icy disposition bore a detached, indifferent ruthlessness.
She was the exact same woman currently sitting in the coffee shop.
Fei Shi.
On the screen, Fei Shi lifted her chin slightly, her eyes dark and deep. Facing the microphone, she spoke slowly about many new regulations under her iron fisted rule, as well as numerous personnel dismissals. The financial program, while deftly avoiding legal risks, scrolled through a few netizen comments across the screen.
[Holy crap, so this is Raven Charles! She was originally supposed to be engaged to Ye Siyu! They almost became a couple.]
[What do you mean ‘a couple’? Didn’t you see how she swallowed the Ye Group whole afterward? She’s as ruthless as she is beautiful.]
[I still remember the trending topic on the day Ye Siyu went bankrupt, sitting soaked in the rain by the roadside. Gosh, my heart broke for her. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind it didn’t even release a statement. She turned around and completely crushed her own uncle’s branch and the illegitimate children, wiping them out entirely.]
[She truly is a ruthless, black-hearted, cold, and self-serving successor of a mysterious wealth family. I remember her nickname perfectly, the Raven Woman or the Black Crow. Her aura fits it way too well.]
With her back to the bar counter, Xiao Ai remained completely oblivious to the broadcast on the television.
Staring at the woman’s face, she felt unable to pull her eyes away. Realizing it was a bit impolite to stare like that, she averted her gaze and scratched the back of her head. “Are you here to visit our Shanhai Town?”
Fei Shi’s gaze remained fixed on the empty bar counter. “No.”
“Oh.” Xiao Ai didn’t know what else to say, so she braced herself and asked, “Then you came here to…?”
Sitting at the coffee table, the woman’s long, slender fingers tapped against the surface rhythmically. At the purlicue of her hand, a fresh English letter tattoo was visible, YSY.
“To find someone who committed arson and murder in my heart, then turned around and left, the person who drove me crazy.”
“Ah…” Xiao Ai stood dazed, feeling as though she had misheard, yet she wasn’t entirely sure. “You’re… joking, right?”
The woman’s eyes darkened. The outer corners of her eyes curved upward slightly as her long eyelashes lifted gently, yet her eyes remained clouded with a turbulent, unreadable storm. She averted her gaze, the corner of her lips curving up without any real warmth. “I am not.”
As if possessed, Xiao Ai found herself asking, “And what will you do once you find her?”
Fei Shi lowered her eyes, gazing at the YSY tattoo on her hand.
“When I find her, I will bring her home, and make it so she can only look at me…” She suddenly smiled, a hint of cruelty in the curve of her lips. “So that she can never leave me again.”
Following that, the woman stood up. Xiao Ai’s eyes followed her up until she was forced to tilt her face backward.
Only at this moment did Xiao Ai realize just how incredibly tall this beauty actually was. She had always thought Ye Siyu was quite tall at 172 cm, but this woman in black possessed an outstandingly statuesque and elegant height. Wearing high heels gave her an immense, commanding presence, to say nothing of her sharp, imposing aura.
At this instant, Xiao Ai inexplicably felt that if this mixed race beauty were to stand next to Ye Siyu, they would match perfectly.
If only Ye Siyu hadn’t left so quickly just now…
“Ding-ling-ling.”
The wind chime at the door jingled again. The arrogant youth from earlier who rode the modified motorcycle was now being pushed inside by a burly man.
He stumbled in and glanced around the coffee shop. The moment his eyes met the black-haired woman standing by the table, colliding with her cold gaze that viewed him as absolute garbage, he looked as if he had seen a ghost. He was so terrified he didn’t even dare to lift his head.
“I’m sorry!” he bellowed an apology, practically dropping to his knees, his head still glued downward. “I won’t dare come here again, I won’t dare come here to harass anyone anymore… I’m sorry, I’m sorry, please forgive me!”
The crisp clack-clack of high heels echoed as she slowly walked over.
Fei Shi looked down at the bleached-hair punk as if he were a piece of trash, shifting her gaze away in disgust after a single glance. Meanwhile, the little thug who had always been incredibly arrogant and had harassed Ye Siyu for the longest time was now trembling violently from sheer terror.
As those heels stepped past, they felt as sharp as the edge of a blade.
She paused only briefly right in front of the shivering thug. She didn’t utter a single word, yet her pressure was fiercely suffocating. Terrified, the thug shook like a sieve and shrank backward, scrambling out of the way to clear the path.
A gust of cold sandalwood drifted past. Accompanied by her subordinate respectfully holding open the glass door, Fei Shi left the coffee shop without looking back.
Outside the window, the sky was completely dark. An extended Bentley sat parked at the street corner.
Standing before the open car door, she halted her steps. Slowly turning around, she stared up at the second floor window of the coffee shop. A dim, warm light glowed from within, enveloping the sheer curtain. Behind the curtain, a slender, graceful silhouette was cast against the fabric.
Fei Shi’s eyes shone with a faint light under the darkened sky. Within those eyes lay a deep yearning and absolute surrender. There was also an inexplicable dark undercurrent, a turbulent emotion that defied explanation.
“Sister… Ye Siyu. You… absolutely cannot leave me.”
