The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 79
Walking side-by-side on the tree-lined path, Lin Luoluo felt a slight discomfort and wanted to pull her hand back, but it was held tightly.
“Do you believe in past lives and present lives?” Zhang Qiu suddenly asked.
“Past lives and present lives…” Lin Luoluo fell silent. What they had before, wasn’t it a kind of past life and present life…
“You don’t believe it?” Zhang Qiu tilted her head to look at her, her thick eyelashes gently fluttering.
Lin Luoluo shook her head.
Zhang Qiu chuckled, yet internally she was certain Lin Luoluo didn’t believe it.
Seeing that Lin Luoluo was distracted, Zhang Qiu changed the subject.
“Alright, let’s not talk about that, where’s my jacket?”
Lin Luoluo let out an “Ah,” “I forgot.”
Zhang Qiu let go of her hand and waved, “Next time you see me, remember to return it.”
Lin Luoluo looked up and realized they had arrived at the school.
She frowned in annoyance, she hadn’t asked if Zhang Qiu was her pen pal Qiu, nor had she asked why she had broken up with Gu Beichen.
Lin Luoluo stood there blankly for a moment before walking towards the teaching building.
On the way, she tentatively called out to the system several times, but it didn’t appear. It seemed to have truly disappeared. Sitting down in her classroom seat, Lin Luoluo still felt a little empty. Everything from the past was like a bubble’s shadow, vanishing without a trace in the sunlight.
She should have been happy, but she felt a bit melancholy.
“It’s a large lecture today, there are so many people I don’t know.” Someone next to her was discussing.
“This class is combined with Class Three, so it’s super crowded every time. Luckily we came early, otherwise, we’d have to sit in the front.”
“The teacher is coming in!”
“Where’s Sang Jing? Why isn’t she here yet?”
“Is she taking this long to buy breakfast?”
“I see her, Sang Jing, over here!”
Lin Luoluo was startled to hear the familiar name and looked sideways.
A girl rushed over, carrying her bag and bending down urgently. “Keep your voices down! The teacher is already glaring at me!”
“Who told you to enter the classroom just as class starts?” The three of them giggled softly.
On the podium, the teacher coughed, “Class begins!”
Lin Luoluo stared blankly at Sang Jing.
Her face held a smile as bright as sunshine, just like any student in college. She put down her bag and quickly took out a book.
Her gaze swept over Lin Luoluo, who she didn’t recognize, and she whispered to the person next to her.
“What page was it? Why doesn’t this teacher follow the table of contents? Learning the later chapters first again?”
“Page 145. Class has started, stop talking.”
The three quieted down, but Lin Luoluo couldn’t take her eyes off Sang Jing.
The reappearance of a familiar person sent a tremor through her heart. So Sang Jing was in the same school as her?
A New Encounter
After class, someone from the student council came to promote an event.
“There will be a lecture by Senior Yi Yushu this afternoon in the tiered classroom. Everyone is welcome to attend.”
“Is that the senior who wrote Me and My Love? She’s actually from our school?”
“Yes, it’s at three o’clock this afternoon. Students who don’t have class can go. There’s a chance to get an autograph!”
“I’m going!” Everyone eagerly signed up.
Lin Luoluo put away her books and received a text message from Lin Xiangdong.
【Come for lunch, I’m on the second floor of the cafeteria.】
Lin Luoluo got up to leave. The people next to her quickly moved out of the way. As she was leaving, she accidentally bumped into the belongings of the person on the very end. Lin Luoluo bent down to pick it up, and Sang Jing also reached down. Their hands touched. Sang Jing picked it up first and gave her a hearty smile, “It’s alright, classmate.”
Lin Luoluo also smiled faintly.
Sang Jing felt a connection with her. Seeing Lin Luoluo walking out alone, she said a few words to her friends and then caught up with her, asking, “Are you going to the cafeteria too?”
Lin Luoluo, not expecting her to catch up, nodded slowly.
Sang Jing said, “What a coincidence, I’m going to the cafeteria too. Let’s go together.”
Lin Luoluo nodded.
Sang Jing then said, “Oh, I haven’t asked your name yet? I’m Sang Jing.”
“I’m Lin Luoluo.”
Sang Jing extended her hand, “How about we become friends?”
Lin Luoluo offered her hand, “Sure.”
A never-before-felt sense of relief suddenly settled in her heart. It seemed like the acquaintances from the past were slowly drawing closer to her.
Sang Jing chattered on, “Speaking of Senior Yi, it reminds me of the novel I stayed up all night reading yesterday. The campus idol in it is simply too awful, and there’s a bunch of brainless readers beneath saying he’s handsome. Can being handsome put food on the table?”
“The male lead completely ignores the female lead’s struggles. I don’t know what the author is trying to promote by writing this kind of novel?”
“Do you read novels? I’ll warn you to avoid it.”
Lin Luoluo nodded, “Sometimes.”
“It’s called My Cool and Cocky Campus Idol Loves Me, the author is Shuhe. Remember to avoid this author! I remember she used to write yuri stories, why did she suddenly switch to romance? If anyone recommends it to you, absolutely do not read it! The readers are all pre-teens! It makes me so mad!”
Lin Luoluo let out an “Ah.”
Familiar things were entering her sight in unexpected ways.
“What do you want to eat?” Sang Jing asked.
“I need to go to the second floor, my brother is waiting for me.”
“You have a date?” Sang Jing scratched her head, “Then I’ll go…”
“You can come along, it’s fine.” Lin Luoluo smiled at her, which seemed to enchant Sang Jing and lure her along. It wasn’t until she saw that the people seated on the second floor were the student council’s most prominent figures that she nervously poked Lin Luoluo’s waist and whispered, “The ‘brother’ you mentioned, you don’t mean these few, do you?”
Gu Beichen, Mu Yunchun, Dongfang Qing, and Lin Xiangdong were all present.
They were famous as Mind College’s F4, their reputation reaching beyond the campus. Some had even established fan clubs for them.
Sang Jing shuddered, remembering the crazed fan clubs, feeling nervous about being so close to these celebrities.
“Maybe I should just leave?” Sang Jing muttered softly.
Lin Luoluo shot her a reassuring look.
Lin Xiangdong stood up and complained, “Little ancestor, what took you so long? We were waiting for you. Are we eating in the cafeteria or going out?”
Lin Luoluo saw the glances being thrown their way and twitched her mouth, “Don’t you think sitting here is too conspicuous?”
Lin Xiangdong looked around, “Where?”
The peeking glances all quickly lowered.
Dongfang Qing laughed, a slight flush appearing on his pale face.
“Wait a moment, Zhang Qiu hasn’t arrived yet.”
Mu Yunchun asked, “Is this Luoluo’s friend?”
“Sang Jing,” Lin Luoluo introduced, “A friend I just made today.”
“Hello.” The others greeted her one by one. Sang Jing was so nervous she didn’t know where to put her hands and quickly waved excitedly, saying politely, “Hello, seniors.”
After waiting a moment longer, Zhang Qiu arrived late.
She walked briskly, her sleeves slightly billowing, arriving dynamically.
“You’re all here? Sorry. I was held up by some work.”
Her gaze fell on Lin Luoluo, seeming to apologize to her.
Then it slowly shifted to Sang Jing, who was holding Lin Luoluo’s arm, and her brows unconsciously furrowed. “And who is this?”
“My friend. She’s eating with us.”
Sang Jing’s face flushed. She was excited to be able to meet all the school’s prominent figures in one meal.
She grabbed Lin Luoluo’s sleeve excitedly, “Hello, Senior.”
Zhang Qiu’s gaze was cool as it drifted past.
“Let’s go.”
“Don’t occupy the space if you’re not eating here.”
The group then got up and went to the small restaurant they frequented, requesting a private room.
Lin Luoluo sat next to Lin Xiangdong and whispered, “I thought it was just the two of us for lunch. Why are there so many people?”
Lin Xiangdong spread his hands, “I was originally with Beichen. Yunchun brought Da Qing along, and it was noon, so we just decided to eat together.”
[You didn’t say there’d be this many people?] Lin Luoluo signaled with her eyes.
Lin Xiangdong shot back with his eyes: [Didn’t you bring a friend too?]
The siblings drew the score at 1-1 for the time being.
As soon as Sang Jing sat down next to Lin Luoluo, she felt a gaze land on her. She looked up and saw Zhang Qiu staring intently at her. She immediately felt nervous and subconsciously grabbed Lin Luoluo’s sleeve for help, which only made Zhang Qiu stare harder.
The deep gaze was like an abyss. Sang Jing’s scalp tingled. She felt like she hadn’t offended this senior, so why was she drawing such special attention?
Lin Luoluo tilted her head and asked worriedly, “What’s wrong?”
Sang Jing pursed her lips. Lin Luoluo looked over, and Zhang Qiu instantly became very proper, her eyes carrying a smile as she asked, “You two can order whatever you like, or I can recommend something for you.”
The four boys next to them were already ordering with the waiter.
Lin Luoluo said, “Anything is fine.”
Sang Jing saw that when Zhang Qiu’s gaze shifted back, it immediately turned cold.
“And you?”
It was clearly differential treatment.
Sang Jing held her breath and said, “I’ll just eat what Luoluo is having.”
Zhang Qiu’s gaze became even colder.
She handed over the menu and said, “Take a look.”
The waiter followed up, “Our fish here is excellent. Would you like to try it? It’s sweet and sour, very suitable for ladies.”
Sang Jing looked over. Lin Luoluo nodded, “Sure, we can have a serving.”
The waiter continued to introduce, “The stir-fried seasonal vegetables are also good, made with fresh seasonal produce.”
Lin Luoluo asked Sang Jing, “Do you eat vegetables?”
Sang Jing nodded. Lin Luoluo said, “Then we’ll have a serving of that.”
“And…” The waiter was about to introduce more, but Zhang Qiu interrupted, “That’s enough.”
Lin Luoluo closed the menu.
“Drinks?” Zhang Qiu asked.
“Tea is fine,” Lin Luoluo said.
“Yes, tea. We still have work this afternoon,” Lin Xiangdong sighed. Gu Beichen also asked for tea. Mu Yunchun and Dongfang Qing had no objections.
The group started talking about student council matters. Lin Luoluo excused herself to the restroom to touch up her makeup. Sang Jing felt awkward staying by herself and followed her out. Zhang Qiu’s frown deepened.
It wasn’t until the two were out of the room that Mu Yunchun asked, “What’s going on with you two? You officially announced your breakup on social media. What happened? Are you graduating soon, so you’re dropping the act?”
Gu Beichen raised an eyebrow, “A normal breakup. We’re still friends.”
Dongfang Qing also expressed concern, “But you two were fine a few days ago?”
They could still sit and eat together, so it didn’t look like they had fallen out.
Gu Beichen looked at Zhang Qiu, prompting her to explain.
Zhang Qiu said coldly, “We’re not suitable.”
Mu Yunchun and Dongfang Qing exchanged a look, their eyes both saying: After all these years, you only now realize you’re not suitable?
The atmosphere suddenly turned cold.
Lin Xiangdong knew the full story and played mediator, “There’s no feast that doesn’t end. Isn’t this better? At least everyone can still sit and eat together. Do you really want to cut all ties?”
“No,” Mu Yunchun laughed, “It’s just that it’s so sudden.”
“It’s not sudden. I have someone I like,” Zhang Qiu said directly. “I can’t let the person I like be wronged.”
Lin Luoluo had just returned and pushed the door open. Hearing this, she instantly looked at Zhang Qiu.
Gu Beichen spread his hands, “See? Don’t blame me. Who told my ex-girlfriend to fall for someone else?”
“Who is it that you like?” Lin Xiangdong asked.
“Luoluo, aren’t you coming in?” Sang Jing asked.
Hearing the sound at the door, the group stopped talking.
Zhang Qiu didn’t answer and looked towards the doorway too.
Seeing Lin Luoluo, her eyelashes curved slightly, everything self-evident, though no one noticed.
Lin Luoluo snapped back to reality, realizing she was blocking the doorway, and sat down distractedly.
Who does Zhang Qiu like?
She murmured the question in her heart, unable to swallow her food.
The Author Shuhe
After the meal, the group dispersed, each attending to their own matters.
Lin Luoluo had no class in the afternoon. Not wanting to go home, she went to the library.
Sang Jing was not in the same class as her and had class in the afternoon, so she left first.
Lin Luoluo sat blankly in the library for a while before remembering to look up the author Shuhe. She typed the author’s name into the search engine, and the webpage quickly popped up.
“Shuhe, an original author, wrote My Cool and Cocky Campus Idol Loves Me (Completed). Formerly a yuri writer, she became hugely popular after switching to romance novels.”
Below were links to her works. Lin Luoluo clicked in and saw the synopsis.
“The cool and cocky Gu Linfeng never expected to fall for a woman one day. Zhang Man is the first woman who dares to go against him…”
After reading the synopsis, Lin Luoluo rubbed the goosebumps on her arms.
Even the character names had changed.
She flipped through it and the plot was typical web novel fare. The only highlight was a comment from a reader in the comments section that said: “Wow, did you see it? The author opened a sub-account to write yuri fanfiction about her own female lead and female side character!”
Lin Luoluo couldn’t find the author’s sub-account. She closed the webpage and sat quietly in the library, thinking for a long time.
This world was both like her past world and different from it.
It was as if the real world and the novel world had merged, and these changes were made to rationalize the fusion.
She squeezed her hand. The sensation was very real. Lin Luoluo finally felt the comfortable relief of having a second chance at life.
A smile curved her lips.
Lin Luoluo stretched, realizing a lot of time had passed. She hesitated before taking the envelope out of her bag.
It was the one she wrote to Qiu.
After thinking for a moment, Lin Luoluo put it back into her backpack. As she walked out of the library, she overheard whispering next door.
“I heard the student council Vice President and President broke up.”
“Didn’t you like the Vice President? Why don’t you take the chance to confess?”
Lin Luoluo glanced over and saw Shu Bai and Luo Ning, whom she had argued with before.
Shu Bai rubbed his nose and said, “Why do you still doubt me? My liking for her is a thing of the past.”
Luo Ning raised an eyebrow, “Then why are you still paying attention to her love life?”
“I just accidentally overheard others talking,” Shu Bai pleaded, “Don’t look at me like that, I really don’t have those intentions.”
Luo Ning leaned in and whispered in his ear. Shu Bai blushed.
Lin Luoluo smiled as she walked past.
This was so good.
Everyone was living vibrantly.
An Unexpected Task
On the way, Lin Luoluo bumped into Gu Beichen. He was talking and laughing with a woman. Seeing Lin Luoluo, he waved, “Luoluo, you haven’t gone back yet?”
Gu Beichen turned to Yi Yushu and introduced her, “This is our junior.”
Yi Yushu nodded in a friendly manner.
Lin Luoluo hadn’t expected to run into them here.
Just as she was about to greet them, Gu Beichen pulled her aside and said, “Can you do me a favor? Take Senior Yi to the book signing?”
Lin Luoluo was stunned for a moment. Gu Beichen pleaded, “I really have something to do. This was originally Zhang Qiu’s job, but she absolutely refuses to host Senior Yi. My school leaders are waiting for me!”
Before Lin Luoluo could decide, Gu Beichen quickly slipped away.
“Senior Yi, just follow her.”
“Luoluo, go to B2 Teaching Building. You know the one, it’s where you have your classes.”
Yi Yushu’s mouth curled into a cold sneer.
“Why won’t Zhang Qiu come to see me, and just sends you little kids to deal with me? I haven’t settled the old scores with her yet!” Yi Yushu’s eyes were blazing.
