The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 64.2
That night, the parents were still worried.
Tan Yi asked her husband, “Do you think Luoluo genuinely doesn’t like that Gu boy anymore, or was she hurt?”
Lin Father said, “Let’s wait and see. Young people are always impulsive about everything they say.”
“You think there might be a change of heart?” Tan Yi turned over and asked.
“No rush. I’ll hire someone to investigate it thoroughly first.”
Tan Yi sighed. “You’re right. We were too eager. So, what about the engagement? The Gu family has been pressing for a long time.”
“No rush,” Lin Father said, closing his eyes.
Tan Yi slapped his arm. “You’re not rushed at all!”
Lin Father opened his eyes, caught her hand, and tucked it under the blanket. “Go to sleep early. We’ll wait a bit longer on this matter.”
“Alright,” Tan Yi sighed. She had no better ideas. Since her husband said so, she could only put it aside for now, but the look of worry on her face wouldn’t disappear. Lin Luoluo’s sleeping sickness was still a giant ticking bomb; she might not wake up one day. She had hoped to see Lin Luoluo married soon, but now the child had changed her mind. Regardless, everything centered around their daughter. All they wished for was their daughter’s happiness and health, and for that, they asked for nothing more.
Separation and New Acquaintances
It was a new day, and the sun rose brightly. Lin Luoluo tried to contact Sang Jing to tell her not to be impulsive, but Sang Jing didn’t reply, and her calls were rejected.
Feeling a little panicky, she went to the Gu family to find Sang Jing, where the Gu family housekeeper received her. Neither Sang Tian nor Sang Jing was home. The housekeeper said Miss Sang Jing had gone home to recuperate from her injury.
Sang Jing had left?
Lin Luoluo was disappointed and turned back. She wanted to inquire further but realized she didn’t even have the phone number of Mao Yutong, who was always with Sang Jing, so she had to drop the matter.
Soon after, Zhang Qiu had to pack her bags to go record the program.
Lin Luoluo went to send her off. Standing outside the high-speed rail station, Lin Luoluo was reluctant to leave for a long time.
There were many people outside, so Zhang Qiu couldn’t say much. She simply lowered her head and pressed her forehead against Lin Luoluo’s.
“Video call tonight.”
Lin Luoluo’s eyes were red. She used to think the couples saying goodbye at the station were being overly sentimental, but she never expected to be like them one day. Zhang Qiu was only leaving for a few days, not forever, yet her heart felt like it had an opening that cold wind was loudly rushing into. Lin Luoluo suddenly felt panicky, as if this was their last meeting.
She held Zhang Qiu’s hand and said, “Call me when you arrive.”
“Okay.”
Zhang Qiu let go of her luggage and used her other hand to push the stray hair off Lin Luoluo’s forehead.
“Go to bed early tonight, no staying up late. Attend your classes properly, no skipping. I’ll be calling to check up on you anytime.”
Lin Luoluo gave a little hum. “I know, Teacher.”
Zhang Qiu sighed: “Why do you make me worry so much?”
“Hurry up and go!” It was Lin Luoluo’s turn to rush her. She pushed Zhang Qiu slightly. “If you don’t go now, you’ll miss the train. It’s your first time reporting to the show crew; being late isn’t good.”
Zhang Qiu leaned down: “Remember to miss me.”
“Okay.”
“Then, a hug?” Zhang Qiu opened her arms.
Lin Luoluo’s nose suddenly felt a bit sore. She threw herself into Zhang Qiu’s arms, hugging her waist like a swallow returning to the forest.
“I’m leaving.”
“Mm.”
Lin Luoluo watched Zhang Qiu pass through the ticket gate with her luggage. She tried hard to force a smile. After passing the security check, Zhang Qiu motioned for Lin Luoluo to go back.
Lin Luoluo walked away, looking back three times with every step.
After returning home, she still felt empty, but she had class in the afternoon. Lin Luoluo composed herself and went to class. Zhang Qiu sent her some photos of the scenery along the way, which made Lin Luoluo feel a little better.
Zhang Qiu had a five-hour train ride. She ate her lunch on the high-speed rail. Lin Luoluo was worried she wouldn’t eat well, so she had bought her a lot of snacks. At noon, Zhang Qiu made herself a cup of instant noodles and smiled wryly at the bag of snacks afterward.
She didn’t eat much of the snacks and brought them off the train as they were.
Upon alighting, a staff member from the show crew picked her up. After getting into the show crew’s car, Zhang Qiu sent a message to Lin Luoluo. Checking the time, Lin Luoluo should still be in class.
The show crew took her to the hotel first, gave her the script, and asked her to put down her luggage and familiarize herself with the script. Once everyone had arrived, they would have a meeting the next day to discuss.
She had nothing much to do that afternoon. After reading the script, Zhang Qiu started studying again. Her foundation was weaker than others, so she could only work hard in her spare time.
A little later, the show crew created a group chat, added everyone, and informed them to meet at the TV station at 8:00 AM the next morning.
Zhang Qiu was already familiar with the script. She silently looked at the notification in the group chat and put down her phone, planning to continue reading. Suddenly, footsteps were heard in the hallway outside, and someone stopped at her door and knocked.
“Hello, excuse me, are you also a contestant for Campus Offer?”
Zhang Qiu put down her book and opened the door. She saw a petite girl outside. She asked, “Can I help you?”
The girl reached out her hand confidently. “Hello, my name is Hu Tao. I’m also a contestant this time. I just came to say hi and get to know each other.”
Zhang Qiu gently shook her hand and asked, “Would you like to come in?”
Hu Tao nodded. She was there to exchange information.
She looked at Zhang Qiu and noticed she was very tall—among girls, she was the tall type. Hu Tao herself was 1.6 meters, and the other girl was at least 1.7 meters. She was also very slender and had an excellent appearance. She would definitely be eye-catching on the show.
However, Hu Tao felt she wasn’t bad either. She puffed out her chest and said, “I’m a graduate student at Huaxia University of Political Science and Law.”
Zhang Qiu was used to people stating their school first. She said, “Longhai University undergraduate.”
Hu Tao looked confused. “Does Longhai University have a Political Science and Law major?”
Zhang Qiu explained, “No, I’m crossing majors.”
Hu Tao nodded in understanding and told Zhang Qiu, “The person across from you is from Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and the person next to me studied abroad at Columbia University.”
“I don’t know if there are any others.”
“There should be two more,” Zhang Qiu added. “The script says there are six people.”
Hu Tao nodded. “I just arrived and haven’t looked at the script yet. Have you eaten? I invited them to eat the hotel’s buffet tonight, so we can all get to know each other.”
“Okay, I’ll be there on time,” Zhang Qiu nodded.
Hu Tao saw a law book on the hotel desk. She was surprised that Zhang Qiu had started studying the moment she arrived. She nodded and left without further disturbance.
Zhang Qiu closed the door, checked the time, confirmed Lin Luoluo was out of class, and called her.
Lin Luoluo pretended to be angry: “Why didn’t you call me the moment you arrived?”
Zhang Qiu chuckled: “Answering the phone in class? Aren’t you afraid of having your phone confiscated?”
Lin Luoluo couldn’t keep up the act anymore and asked, “How is it there?”
“It’s fine. The show crew provided free accommodation, a standard room. The hotel has a buffet. I got the script, and I just met one of the contestants who invited us to meet tonight to get acquainted. Tomorrow, we’ll meet the director and finalize the script.”
“I don’t know when you’ll be back.”
“The first period should be ten days. I’ll come back as soon as the recording is over.” Zhang Qiu’s voice was gentle. “I saw the weather forecast said it will rain and get colder at school tomorrow. Remember to take an umbrella and wear a coat.”
“Mm, I know. You need to rest well too, Sister.”
“Mm,” Zhang Qiu replied.
Lin Luoluo heard Zhang Qiu’s gentle breathing on the phone. The classroom was nearly empty. She rested her chin on the desk, covered half her face with her arm, and lowered her voice: “I miss you so much, Sister.”
She had only been gone for a few hours, but the thought of her not being in the same city suddenly made Lin Luoluo feel lonely. Yet, they weren’t even able to meet every day normally.
“Me too,” Zhang Qiu sighed. “Wait for me to come back.”
