The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 56
The mountain wind was light, and the rain in the forest was gradually weakening, the sounds entering her ears. Lin Luoluo seemed to hear the vibrant growth of the vegetation.
She held her breath and gently said to the person on the other end of the phone, “I miss you too.”
A day apart felt like three years.
Zhang Qiu’s fried rice was ready, and she picked it up and started walking toward the school.
Her hands were full of things, but she still needed to spare one hand to answer the phone, which she was reluctant to hang up.
“What did you do at the temple today?”
Lin Luoluo counted on her fingers, “I paid my respects to all the Bodhisattvas, prayed to the Buddha for protection, drew a lot, wandered around the temple, and attended evening chanting with the masters.”
“The evening chanting was reciting sutras; I followed along and almost fell asleep.”
Lin Luoluo stuck out her tongue. “The rain hasn’t stopped on the mountain,” she complained. “Otherwise, I could go home.”
“Are you scared? Staying on the mountain,” Zhang Qiu asked.
Lin Luoluo shook her head, “I have Sang Jing and Mao Yutong with me.”
“Mm.” After Zhang Qiu asked, the sound of their breathing intertwined over the phone.
“Sister, can we stay this good forever?” Lin Luoluo whispered.
“Isn’t it good enough now?” Zhang Qiu asked in a low voice, slowly walking up the steps.
“Not enough, I want to be even closer with you, Sister,” Lin Luoluo grinned.
“Then let’s be even closer.” Zhang Qiu’s words were swallowed by the mountain wind. The rain stopped. Lin Luoluo smiled into the phone, “I think I can go down the mountain tomorrow.”
The wind was still, the rain had stopped, and the trees were still.
When she opened the door in the morning, the scent of damp earth rushed over her. The rain had been too heavy yesterday, and the road up the mountain was temporarily closed. Early in the morning, Lin Xiangdong drove up the mountain to pick them up.
Lin Xiangdong had to go to the company after dropping them off, so he was wearing a very formal suit. He was broad-shouldered with long legs. Sang Jing’s face flushed after one glance at him.
Her aunt kept telling her to interact more with Lin Xiangdong, which she usually found annoying, but seeing him now, she thought these secondary male characters weren’t entirely without merit; at least he was very good-looking.
Lin Xiangdong stood in front of Lin Luoluo and asked, looking down, “Why didn’t you answer my phone call?”
Lin Luoluo had just woken up, her face sleepy. She looked at Lin Xiangdong with a mournful expression, “Who wakes people up at five in the morning!”
Lin Xiangdong reached out and flicked her head. “You don’t have to work, but I do. After going to all this trouble to pick you up, I should have just left you on the mountain.”
Lin Luoluo quickly gave (ingratiating) smile, “Don’t, don’t.”
Lin Xiangdong glanced at her. “Aren’t you leaving? Are you planning to stand here until lunchtime?”
“Got it, bro,” Lin Luoluo yawned. She watched as the person Lin Xiangdong brought first settled Sang Jing and Mao Yutong before she got into Lin Xiangdong’s car.
Dozing off, she heard Lin Xiangdong ask, “What’s going on between you and Gu Beichen?”
Lin Luoluo woke up with a start. “Bro, why are you suddenly asking about him?”
Lin Xiangdong was driving, carefully navigating the winding mountain road. He kept his eyes on the road and said, “Mom asked this morning. She said you two are childhood sweethearts, but as you’ve grown up, you seem to have become estranged. She asked me what was going on. How do you suggest I respond?”
“Tell her the truth,” Lin Luoluo said, pretending to fan herself to appear less flustered.
“Tell her what? That Gu Beichen has someone he likes? That he just broke up? Or that you’ve liked him since you were little and were desperately clinging to him?” Lin Xiangdong snorted, clearly disapproving of Lin Luoluo’s past actions.
Lin Luoluo chuckled awkwardly, “I didn’t ask you to say any of that.”
“Then what should I say?”
“Just say that Gu Beichen doesn’t like me.”
“Say that?” Lin Xiangdong briefly and suspiciously glanced at Lin Luoluo before concentrating on his driving again. “Are you trying to make Mom and Dad angry? The Gu family promised that Gu Beichen would treat you well.”
Lin Luoluo quietly said, “I don’t like Gu Beichen anymore.”
“What?!” Lin Xiangdong slammed on the brakes, turned, and stared intently at Lin Luoluo for a moment before starting the car again. “I’d really think you weren’t my sister. All those summer and winter breaks, you rushed back every semester—for whom? It was all for Gu Beichen. Now you’ve suddenly given up. Do you genuinely not like him anymore?”
Lin Xiangdong had actually wanted Lin Luoluo to give up a long time ago because he thought the Gu family was complicated and unsuitable for his sister. But Lin Luoluo had liked Gu Beichen since childhood and couldn’t be persuaded. He hadn’t expected her to suddenly change her mind.
“I have someone I like now,” Lin Luoluo said guiltily. “I don’t want to hurt the person I like.”
Lin Xiangdong scoffed, “Love-struck.”
Hearing Lin Luoluo say this, he actually felt relieved.
It was normal to transfer one’s affections because of falling for someone else. Besides, there were so many good men in the world; it wasn’t necessary to insist on Gu Beichen. What was the problem if his sister, Lin Xiangdong’s sister, liked ten or eight guys?
Lin Xiangdong didn’t think there was anything wrong with his thinking and even began to preach to Lin Luoluo, “It’s fine to like someone, but don’t fall in love.”
“You’re still young. You should interact with as many people as possible.”
“The more you see and the more people you meet, the better you’ll know who is right for you.”
Lin Luoluo’s face darkened. She looked at Lin Xiangdong and said, “Bro, I never thought you were such a jerk! What about Sister Yi? Have you forgotten her?”
Lin Xiangdong sighed, “Sister Yi looks down on me. I just added her on WeChat, and when I checked back, I found out she’d deleted me.”
Lin Luoluo was surprised, not expecting Yi Yushu to be someone who could turn cold so suddenly.
“What about you? Did she delete you?”
“She probably did…” Lin Luoluo laughed awkwardly. Because of Yi Yushu’s sudden reaction, coupled with Zhang Qiu’s warning, she had blocked her when she got back.
“Let’s not talk about that,” Lin Luoluo changed the subject. “How’s work going for you, bro? You certainly look the part in that suit.”
Lin Xiangdong lamented, “It’s not as comfortable as your life. I don’t even have time to play games anymore. I think our dad is absolutely determined to retire.”
“Isn’t that great? Soon you’ll be the Lin family’s sole CEO!”
“If I become the CEO, the first thing I’ll do is get rid of you. You always make me your chauffeur.”
Lin Luoluo hummed, “Even if you become CEO, you’re still my brother, and you’ll still have to be my chauffeur.”
Lin Xiangdong smiled indulgently, “Yes, yes, Miss Lin.”
After driving back, Lin Luoluo still had class. Sang Jing and Mao Yutong were driven directly back to the hospital by the Lin family’s driver. Lin Luoluo rushed to school after taking a shower.
After class, the counselor kept the students back and called everyone together for a meeting.
The meeting was about the school’s upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration. Every class had to prepare a performance, so they were asked to discuss and brainstorm ideas.
Lin Luoluo wasn’t very close with most of her classmates. When the class president was taking names, she thought about it and casually signed up for the piano.
She had been learning the piano since childhood, achieving the tenth amateur grade before stopping further development. Anything higher was professional level, and Lin Luoluo couldn’t endure the rigorous practice required. She was limited to practicing for an hour a day at most. As she grew up, she only practiced when she felt like it in her spare time, and her skill had deteriorated quite a bit.
Since she had signed up, Lin Luoluo figured she should start practicing seriously.
After the meeting, there was still an afternoon class. Lin Luoluo went to Lin Xiangdong’s apartment to nap for a while; she was still tired from waking up so early.
Tomorrow was a day off, and Lin Luoluo had planned to go shopping with Zhang Qiu to buy a new phone.
She had wanted to replace her old phone for a long time; it ran out of battery quickly on the mountain, and the memory was insufficient.
Zhang Qiu had her regular day off tomorrow and agreed to meet Lin Luoluo. She also wanted to ask Lin Luoluo for her opinion on whether she should participate in the school program.
Lin Luoluo typed in the passcode for Lin Xiangdong’s apartment, opened the door, and headed towards the sofa, when suddenly a disheveled man sat up from it. The man spoke in a low voice, “Dongzi, you’re here.”
Lin Luoluo jumped in surprise. She couldn’t tell who it was from the voice. She turned, intending to bolt out the door, when the person behind her seemed to fully wake up.
“It’s you, Lin Luoluo?”
Only then did Lin Luoluo recognize the voice. She frowned, turned around, and smelled the wafting scent of alcohol in the air.
“Mu Yunchun, why are you at my brother’s place?”
Mu Yunchun shook his head, looking haggard. “I have nowhere to go. Since you’re here, I’ll leave.”
Lin Luoluo noticed his unshaven face, backed away, covered her nose with her hand, and said, “Don’t move. I’ll call the housekeeper to clean up. You should clean yourself up, too. You stay put; I’m going out.”
With that, she turned and rushed out the door.
Mu Yunchun watched her fearful expression, then looked at his current state. He didn’t have a shred of his past dashing and elegant demeanor. He smiled bitterly, collapsing onto the sofa, and muttered to himself.
“Mu Yunchun, Mu Yunchun, how did you end up like this?”
Outside the door, Lin Luoluo called Lin Xiangdong.
“My awful brother, guess who I found in your apartment?”
“You didn’t go home for lunch, you went to my apartment? Who did you find?” Lin Xiangdong asked absentmindedly.
“Mu Yunchun! Your good brother was drinking so much in your apartment; he stinks!”
“He’s at my place?” Lin Xiangdong frowned. “Keep an eye on him. I’m coming over now.”
“Then hurry up. I have an afternoon class.”
“Mhm, mhm.”
After hanging up, Lin Luoluo squatted by the apartment door and sent a message to Zhang Qiu.
【I don’t know what’s going on with Mu Yunchun. He’s hiding in my brother’s apartment and drinking.】
Zhang Qiu was momentarily stunned. She had actually received a few calls from Mu Yunchun yesterday, but she didn’t want to answer, so she hung up all of them.
【Is he drunk?】
【No, he was conscious when I went in, just unshaven and looking very rough.】
【My brother told me to guard the door so he doesn’t run off.】
【Be careful then.】
【There are surveillance cameras in the hallway. If things get bad, I’ll just run.】
Zhang Qiu saw the message and smiled. 【I’m going into a meeting. Talk later.】
【Okay.】
Lin Luoluo squatted for a while, then stood up and stretched her legs. Ten minutes passed, and Lin Xiangdong hadn’t arrived, but the apartment door opened first. Mu Yunchun, cleaned up but with red eyes, stood in the doorway and said to Lin Luoluo, “Do you have battery on your phone? Let me borrow it to make a call.”
Lin Luoluo said, “Ah,” before unlocking and handing him the phone.
Mu Yunchun skillfully dialed a number.
He had memorized this number by heart.
“The number you have dialed has been hung up, please try again later. The number you have dialed has…”
Mu Yunchun’s eyebrows furrowed, his eyes were bloodshot, and he radiated hostility. With a smash, he threw Lin Luoluo’s phone!
The phone shattered on the floor. Lin Luoluo, terrified, stumbled back a few steps, keeping a good distance from Mu Yunchun.
