The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 23
“Host? Host? Are you still alive?”
In the endless darkness, Lin Luoluo had walked alone for a very long time, so long that she even forgot where her destination was, knowing only to keep walking forward, as if the answer lay ahead.
Suddenly hearing a voice, she weakly lifted her eyelids and saw a small ball of light floating in front of her.
“Finally found you, let’s go.”
Then the light in front of her brightened, and Lin Luoluo woke up.
She was lying in a pure white room. Someone had forgotten to close the window, and the white sheer curtains billowed in the wind. The lilies by the bed gave off a delicate fragrance.
It felt so good to return to the world of the living, Lin Luoluo curved her lips into a smile.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and someone walked in while speaking.
“Thank you for coming to see her. This happened so suddenly, I think it was after you two met. She’s still asleep. The hospital can’t find the cause either. We plan to transfer her. I heard there are similar cases in Sweden, so we’ll see if there’s any hope.”
Who was it that came?
Lin Luoluo turned her head and gazed into a pair of mesmerizing, starry eyes.
Both were stunned.
She couldn’t recognize them.
Lin Luoluo frowned, yet the feeling was very familiar.
“She’s awake…” Zhang Qiu was surprised.
Lin Xiangdong was still sighing: “It’s very hard for her to wake up. The doctor said maybe she’ll wake up the next second, maybe never in this life. Her brain signal wave… wavelength…”
“You’re awake!” Lin Xiangdong’s voice abruptly pitched higher, like a screaming chicken with its neck caught.
Lin Luoluo recognized that he was Lin Xiangdong, her eyes somewhat bewildered.
“Ge (Brother)?”
“When did you wake up? How does your body feel? Are you hungry? Do you want anything to eat? Oh, I haven’t told Mom and Dad yet! And the doctor, right! The doctor!” Lin Xiangdong frantically slapped the call bell on the wall, the jarring sound giving Lin Luoluo a terrible headache.
She now felt like a person made of glass; the slightest vibration, the slightest sound, could make her feel uneasy. What made her especially uneasy was that she found her eyes couldn’t distinguish between the faces of the two people in front of her.
Good or bad, beautiful or ugly, their facial features all looked the same to her.
She looked blankly at everything around her, when suddenly her hand was grasped. The slightly cool touch made her flinch, but the hands firmly held hers without question.
“Don’t be afraid.”
It was Zhang Qiu.
Lin Luoluo’s apricot eyes widened, empty inside, staring at Zhang Qiu, yet still unable to recall her face. This face seemed to have suddenly been erased from her mind, as if wiped away by an eraser. She was clearly right in front of her, but Lin Luoluo couldn’t remember her face no matter what.
Tears began to pool, Lin Luoluo sniffled, looking like she was about to shed ‘golden beans’ (tears) any second.
Zhang Qiu’s heart crumpled like wrinkled paper. She couldn’t help but soften her tone: “Alright, alright, the doctor and your parents will be here soon. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.”
“Mmm…” Lin Luoluo nodded, choked up. Her eyes remained unsettled. Those once lively, bright eyes also became dull and spiritless; the starlight had fallen from within her eyes, leaving them vacant and lifeless.
Zhang Qiu felt uneasy watching this but didn’t know how to comfort Lin Luoluo, so she just gently patted her shoulder.
Lin Xiangdong finally found the doctor, running in, dripping with sweat.
“Doctor, quickly, look at my sister, she’s awake!”
The doctor gasped for breath, having been dragged over by Lin Xiangdong. He said unsteadily, “Okay, okay, let me catch my breath.”
He took out his stethoscope, placed it on Lin Luoluo’s back, and then inquired carefully: “When you suddenly collapsed, did you feel pain anywhere?” Some illnesses can only be detected when they are active, so they all suspected that the patient was brought to the hospital too late for them to find anything.
Lin Luoluo’s eyelashes fluttered. She gently shook her head and said hesitantly, “Does not being able to recognize your faces count as an illness?”
What does that mean? The doctor didn’t understand and asked again.
Lin Luoluo lowered her small face, nervously clasped her hands, and whispered, “I can’t distinguish your faces. You all look the same.”
