The Reason I Made Her My Queen - Chapter 2
Even after my night with King Ramiro had ended, I couldn’t bring myself to rise from the bed.
My consciousness remained hazy.
Stricken by high fever, intense joint pain, and an unbelievable dull ache in my lower back, my body simply refused to move.
Through the window, the faint morning light streamed in, and I could hear the chirping of small birds.
“Have you awakened?”
At the concerned yet gentle voice, I opened my eyes to see an unfamiliar beautiful woman peering down at me as she spoke.
With pale skin, black hair save for one crimson lock, and brown eyes framed by long lashes, this overwhelmingly beautiful woman wore the maid’s uniform of the Fabra Kingdom, I noticed upon closer look.
“…And you are?”
“My apologies. I am Felicie, a maid.”
“…Um…?”
“By order of His Majesty King Ramiro, I have been assigned to attend to you, Lady Nila.”
“Eh…?”
“You have a fever, so please rest quietly. The court physician believes it’s due to exhaustion from your night duties and the long journey. Medicine has been prescribed. Water is here as well.”
Miss Felicie replaced the cloth on my forehead.
“His Majesty King Ramiro has commanded me to nurse you back to health. Please rest assured.”
“…Th-thank you…”
Miss Felicie continued to work diligently, tending to my needs with earnest care.
She meticulously wiped my neck and chest with a towel dampened with warm water.
The sticky discomfort of my body gradually washed away.
She tied up my hair and dressed me in a thin chemise.
The fabric felt pleasant and soft against my skin.
It must have been something quite luxurious.
Though I felt flustered and embarrassed, with my body unable to move freely, I had no choice but to let her do as she pleased.
After finishing her care, Miss Felicie stepped away from the bed and left the room.
Soon, drowsiness washed over me, and without resistance, I closed my eyes.
When I awoke next, my body felt remarkably light.
The pain was gone, and my head was clear.
I assumed the prescribed medicine had taken effect.
“Lady Nila, how are you feeling?”
Miss Felicie, seated on the sofa in the room, addressed me.
“…Thank you. Thanks to you, my body feels much better.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
Miss Felicie offered a soft smile.
That smile was so beautiful, even I, as another woman, found myself captivated by it.
“I’ve prepared a meal for you. I’ll bring it here shortly, so please wait a moment.”
Given my convalescent state, a sofa and table had been arranged near the bed. The food brought to me was gentle on the palate and easy to digest.
“…It’s delicious.”
The words slipped out before I could stop them, and Miss Felicie’s expression relaxed with relief.
This was something I hadn’t been aware of, but apparently, I had been quite tormented by nightmares the previous night.
Even after my health recovered, the nights with the king continued.
