The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 36
She wanted to date Song Wenzhi in peace.
The dinner party ended quickly. After seeing the others into their cars, Yu Kunian stopped at the restaurant entrance and dialed Song Wenzhi’s number.
The sky had already darkened, and tonight’s wind was somewhat cold. Yu Kunian wrapped her coat a little tighter. As soon as Song Wenzhi picked up, she immediately asked for the Omega’s current location.
This restaurant was near the site of the investment promotion fair. As Yu Kunian inquired, she walked toward the direction of the fair. Song Wenzhi had taken the subway; she had just gotten off when she sent the message earlier and hadn’t walked far yet. The Omega paused for a moment and then sent her location over.
“Yu Kunian, you might have to wait for me for a bit.” Song Wenzhi looked at the navigation, which showed she still had about eight minutes of walking to do.
Yu Kunian chuckled softly. “Zhizhi, just stand where you are and don’t move. I’ll come find you.”
Song Wenzhi stopped in her tracks. She had just crossed the intersection and was standing next to a traffic light pole. After a moment’s thought, the Omega didn’t refuse. “How were the results today?”
“Thanks to your auspicious words, Zhizhi,” Yu Kunian’s voice was filled with irrepressible joy. “I’ve just notified the employees of this project team; everyone is getting a bonus.”
Song Wenzhi couldn’t help but relax because of the other’s happiness. “It seems President Yu is a generous boss.”
Yu Kunian said, “As the greatest contributor, Zhizhi, you have a share as well.”
Song Wenzhi was momentarily surprised. “Me?”
“Of course. If it weren’t for your dedicated tutoring, how could I have delivered such a smooth speech at the promotion fair? So, you must have a bonus too. Zhizhi, this is what you deserve,” Yu Kunian explained. She didn’t want Song Wenzhi to refuse.
The Omega didn’t answer immediately. At that moment, she couldn’t judge whether Yu Kunian’s words were true or false. She had always received her corresponding salary for her tutoring sessions, so such a bonus came as a surprise.
Song Wenzhi was indeed still in a state of needing money, but she didn’t need charity. The Omega almost thought Yu Kunian had found out about her situation, but she quickly dismissed the idea, thinking the Alpha was simply ecstatic because the promotion was a success.
It was no secret in the business world that Yu Kunian was a generous leader.
Thus, after a moment of silence, Song Wenzhi accepted the bonus.
Yu Kunian breathed a sigh of relief. She had an ulterior motive and was afraid Song Wenzhi would notice; after thinking it over, she felt this reason was the most appropriate. Following the location, the Alpha found where Song Wenzhi was standing. She stopped and turned to look for Song Wenzhi’s figure.
Under the traffic light, Song Wenzhi stood there wearing a knit sweater and a pale-yellow midi skirt, her hair held up with a claw clip, leaving a few stray strands over her forehead. The Omega’s expression remained indifferent, just like her initial “strangers keep away” appearance, but upon seeing Yu Kunian, her gaze softened, and she stepped toward the Alpha.
Yu Kunian’s pace quickened. With a smile on her face, she hung up the phone first and then stopped in front of Song Wenzhi. The streetlights beside them elongated their shadows, and the two figures on the ground leaned close to each other intimately. The Alpha’s eyes crinkled with a smile as she gently pulled the Omega into an embrace.
“Zhizhi, the investment results today exceeded my original expectations.” Yu Kunian held Song Wenzhi tightly. She could hardly hide her joy, finally unload the heavy burden and tell the Omega the good news with a sense of relief.
Song Wenzhi hugged her back. “I know. You are very capable.”
The smile never left Yu Kunian’s face. After releasing Song Wenzhi, she took the Omega’s hand and asked, “Have you eaten dinner yet?”
“Not yet,” Song Wenzhi said.
Yu Kunian said, “Then let’s go eat together. What do you want to eat?” At the dinner party just now, she hadn’t bothered to eat at all. She was basically talking the whole time; forget being full, she felt as if she hadn’t eaten anything.
Starting from today, Yu Kunian no longer needed to be so busy, and she could finally have a proper, unhurried meal with Song Wenzhi. They chose a nearby stir-fry restaurant. Song Wenzhi insisted on treating her to celebrate Yu Kunian’s success; the Alpha couldn’t win the argument and had to agree.
Naturally, Zhaoming Biotech was holding a victory banquet tonight, but Yu Kunian hadn’t planned on going from the start. She hadn’t had a peaceful date with Song Wenzhi in a long time, and today she was definitely choosing Song Wenzhi.
This meal was indeed eaten very slowly. Yu Kunian told her about today’s promotion fair, and the Omega listened patiently throughout. Song Wenzhi didn’t know much about the business world, but she would analyze things based on her own insights, or rather, she could learn a lot from Yu Kunian.
The President Yu who had been comfortable dealing with all the investors at the promotion fair in the afternoon had now shed her usual sharpness and vigilance, leaving only an undefended softness for her Omega.
Yu Kunian was the famous President Yu, but she could also be an ordinary Alpha.
An Alpha who blended into Lihua City to focus on dating her girlfriend.
For the first time, Yu Kunian felt a sense of peace today. She looked at the Omega before her, recalling all the different emotions she had sensed before, all of which seemed to stem from Song Wenzhi.
It was a strange and unfamiliar feeling; Yu Kunian didn’t know what it was called.
There was no one else like Song Wenzhi who could make the Alpha forget her identity as President Yu and calmly share every aspect of her life with her.
Yu Kunian hadn’t figured out why, but she didn’t think too deeply about it either.
After dinner, Yu Kunian drove Song Wenzhi back to school. The Omega was a bit tired and closed her eyes to nap halfway there. The Alpha took the opportunity while waiting at red lights to look at her.
She wanted to carve every angle of Song Wenzhi’s face into her heart to soothe her longing—a longing she hadn’t been able to distinguish over these past few days.
Stopping at the school gate, Yu Kunian opened the passenger door and softly woke Song Wenzhi. The Omega wasn’t in a deep sleep; she opened her eyes after Yu Kunian spoke a couple of sentences. Seeing the Alpha’s face so close, she felt a momentary daze.
Yu Kunian took her hand and led her out of the car, walking slowly into the campus toward the faculty apartments. It was quite late now, and there weren’t many people on campus. Yu Kunian and Song Wenzhi walked side by side, chatting about trivial daily matters.
Now that her schedule was clear, Yu Kunian wanted to ask Song Wenzhi out for tomorrow, but just as she opened her mouth, her words were interrupted by someone walking toward them from not far away.
They were only a few steps away from the faculty apartment. That person had been standing downstairs and saw the two of them, immediately walking over.
“Xiao Zhi.” A woman called out Song Wenzhi’s name. She approached with a smile; her features were soft, and her aura was very gentle.
Yu Kunian’s gaze darkened for a moment. A moment later, she heard Song Wenzhi speak: “Weichi.”
—Xia Weichi?
