The Protagonist 'Gong' Became my Wife - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: I Want to Take a Bite of You
Early the next morning, Gu Zhuo received an invitation from Jiang Yanning. It so happened that he only had two classes that morning; after finishing them and giving Gu Xiao a brief explanation, he rode his small electric scooter to Jiang Yanning’s company.
When Jiang Yanning’s grandfather first went to America, he had simply founded a company without much ambition to expand its business. However, he had high demands for Jiang Yanning, directly handing over all shares to him and requiring him to develop the company to a certain scale within three years. Jiang Yanning not only achieved this but also found the spare energy early on to set his sights on the domestic market. Thus, by the time he truly returned to the country, the branch office was already well-established, merely waiting for him to issue commands.
Though called a branch office, its scale was by no means small. 77 sat perched on Gu Zhuo’s head, looking up at the skyscrapers with an excited mood.
Wow, wow, wow, Host! Such a tall building! The Male Lead looks so rich!
Gu Zhuo snatched it off his head and casually swatted it away.
If it weren’t for you not letting me do this and that, I could also be very rich.
77 curled its lip. It’s just not allowed. The System Manual says so!
Gu Zhuo didn’t dwell on it and walked straight inside. Assistant Zhou had received the news early and was waiting at the entrance to welcome him. Seeing him, he smiled apologetically.
“My apologies, Mr. Gu. Our President is still in a meeting. I’ll take you up to sit for a while first.”
Gu Zhuo adjusted the straps of his backpack and waved his hand. “No matter, I arrived early.”
Assistant Zhou smiled and turned to lead the way. Along the road, he stole a few glances and found that Gu Zhuo looked calm, showing not the slightest novelty toward the surrounding environment. The data said Gu Zhuo’s family had no money, life was tight, and he was very solitary. But looking at him now, he clearly possessed a mysterious aura similar to the President’s, making people instinctively afraid to look down on him.
Assistant Zhou stole another glance and was caught red-handed by Gu Zhuo. He could only smile awkwardly again.
Upon reaching the top floor, the atmosphere in the meeting room was somber. Jiang Yanning suddenly slammed the documents in his hand onto the table, one hand bracing against the tabletop while the other pointed at the employees in front of him, delivering a scolding. From the opening and closing of his mouth, it wasn’t hard to see he was truly angry.
Gu Zhuo couldn’t help but pause, standing to one side to appreciate the scene. An angry Jiang Yanning was truly a rare sight. Assistant Zhou stood in place hesitantly, silently feeling unlucky for the President. Knowing there was such an important matter to discuss with Mr. Gu today, yet venting such a large fire if he scared the person away, it would be hard to clean up the mess.
Fortunately, Gu Zhuo didn’t watch for long. Before Jiang Yanning could discover him, he proactively left and went straight into the adjacent lounge. Tea, pastries, and snacks were already laid out there; clearly, Assistant Zhou had prepared in advance. Gu Zhuo wasn’t polite either, casually opening a bag of potato chips and eating with great relish.
“Um, does Assistant Zhou want some? Or if you have things to do, go ahead and get busy. I’ll just sit here and wait.”
Assistant Zhou nodded and returned to his desk to organize files. Inside the lounge, Gu Zhuo opened another bag of snacks. During this period, his appetite remained astonishingly large, and he felt hungry from time to time. When he had classes all day, he would prepare several steamed buns in his bag early on to feel better.
Through the hard work of this period, plus running part-time jobs in various places every day, Gu Zhuo’s body had become sturdier. His height had shot up, and more importantly, his abdominal muscles were more defined. Having finished another bag of snacks, on a whim, he lifted his shirt to observe them.
The lounge door suddenly opened. Jiang Yanning, whose face still carried a slight lingering anger, saw this scene, and his expression instantly shifted to bewilderment. He then quickly closed the door, his face becoming expressionless, with only a touch of faint red climbing onto the tips of his ears.
Inside the room, Gu Zhuo was also a bit embarrassed. He tidied his clothes, put on his backpack, and proactively walked out. He waved with a smile.
“Hello, President Jiang!”
Jiang Yanning nodded and led him to his office. “Sit for a while first. I need to finish reading this document. If there’s anything you want to eat, you can tell Assistant Zhou and have him pre-order it.”
With a big boss treating, Gu Zhuo naturally wouldn’t be polite. “Anything is fine? As much as I want?”
“Of course, anything is fine. No need to be polite with me.”
One side handled documents for half an hour; the other side ordered dishes, also taking half an hour. Assistant Zhou gripped the menu full of items, explaining miserably to the person on the other end of the phone.
“It’s not a promotion, not a company team-building, just two people! You just need to prepare a relatively private booth. Yes, yes, yes!”
Once everything was settled, Jiang Yanning put on his suit jacket, took the briefcase handed over by Assistant Zhou, and led Gu Zhuo downstairs. Today, he intended to drive personally.
Upon arriving at the reserved restaurant, even though Jiang Yanning was prepared, he was shocked by the large table of dishes. Gu Zhuo smiled innocently, “You said as much as I wanted!” And in the face of filling one’s stomach, what does image matter?
When the two were alone, Gu Zhuo naturally released his pheromones. Feeling all the food become dyed with his scent, he narrowed his eyes happily. Jiang Yanning didn’t know that he was also classified as “food”; seeing Gu Zhuo like this, his own mood relaxed. The negative emotions from work in the morning slowly dissipated. While watching Gu Zhuo eliminate the food like a whirlwind, his own appetite also improved, and he ate more than usual.
After Gu Zhuo had eaten and drunk his fill, he let out a satisfied burp, took the tea handed over by Jiang Yanning, and drank it in one gulp.
“Alright, speak. What else did you want me for today?”
Jiang Yanning froze slightly, not expecting Gu Zhuo to be so sharp. Gu Zhuo looked back frankly and patiently asked again.
“President Jiang? If there’s something, just say it. If I can help, I certainly will.”
Jiang Yanning took a deep breath, pulled a contract from his briefcase, and while handing it out, said solemnly: “Gu Zhuo, I need a wife in name only.”
Wife~
These two words echoed in Gu Zhuo’s mind, making him momentarily dazed. How did he become a wife? He opened the file, and a line of large characters met his eyes: 《Marriage Agreement》.
Jiang Yanning took a sip of tea and explained. A few days ago, he returned to Country M to see his supposedly seriously ill grandfather. Who knew the grandfather would demand to see a granddaughter-in-law the moment they met? During the years in Country M, his grandfather hadn’t stopped urging him to marry. He said his grandmother’s greatest wish before she died was to see Jiang Yanning find someone to spend his life with. He felt the same.
Jiang Yanning could only smile bitterly; where was he going to find a granddaughter-in-law? This didn’t stump the grandfather, who had already found several suitable candidates and took Jiang Yanning to blind dates the very next day. During those days in Country M, Jiang Yanning feared mealtimes most, never knowing from where his grandfather would find more age-appropriate women. Finally, unable to bear it, he came out on the spot.
“Grandpa, I like men. I have no interest in women. You won’t see me marry a wife and have children in this lifetime.”
He thought his grandfather would suffer a blow. But the old man only gave a cold snort and lifted his head arrogantly. “Finally willing to tell me? That little boyfriend of yours back home? If I didn’t push you, how much longer did you plan to hide it!”
Only then did Jiang Yanning learn that his and Gu Zhuo’s “affair” had been discovered by someone who snitched to the old man. He originally wanted to explain clearly, but seeing the old man’s head of white hair, he shut his mouth and let the misunderstanding stand. The old man was willing to let him return to the country only because Jiang Yanning promised that the next time he visited, he would bring his boyfriend.
After hearing the explanation, Gu Zhuo said nothing and flipped through the contract roughly. During the wait, Jiang Yanning actually felt a bit unable to catch his breath and couldn’t help loosening his collar. On the surface, he still maintained an air of being in control. He knew the conditions he offered were very high, and Gu Zhuo happened to be short on money; it was ten to one he wouldn’t refuse.
“I agree.”
Jiang Yanning’s heart almost stopped for an instant before slowly recovering. Gu Zhuo’s reading speed was very fast, and with the support of his mental power, none of the text traps inside could hide from him. So he knew this contract was very cost-effective. House, car, money none were withheld. Even “husband and husband” life was not mandatory; the requirements for Gu Zhuo were simply too loose. He had no reason to disagree.
However, he then leisurely uttered another sentence. “But…”
“But what?”
“I want you to let me take a bite.”
Jiang Yanning’s face turned cold and stiff, somewhat doubting what he had heard. “What did you say?”
Gu Zhuo simply stood up, walked to his side, and leaned over slightly. He took off the plain glasses from Jiang Yanning’s face, revealing his handsome eyes. He stared directly at his slightly trembling eyelashes.
“Brother, I want to take a bite of you.”
Jiang Yanning didn’t want to show weakness and looked straight at him. “What kind of ghost requirement is this? Are you a reincarnated vampire?”
He vaguely remembered that Gu Zhuo had bitten him that night, but the tooth marks faded quickly, not even leaving a scar. Gu Zhuo didn’t speak either, just blinked at him; it looked like this wasn’t open for negotiation.
Jiang Yanning clearly felt his brain rapidly weighing the pros and cons. “Fine. You take a bite, then sign the contract.”
A sharp light flashed in Gu Zhuo’s eyes. His nose slowly approached Jiang Yanning’s neck, feeling the pulse of the blood vessels one by one. Then, following a trace of sweet fragrance, he moved to the back of the neck. That was usually where an Omega’s glands grew. And while Jiang Yanning clearly wasn’t an Omega, the flesh there was much redder than the surrounding area.
A flash of red light appeared in Gu Zhuo’s eyes, and he tentatively kissed it lightly. Jiang Yanning shuddered from the stimulation and couldn’t help urging him.
“Are you going to bite or not? If you don’t bite soon, I’ll… mgh!”
Marking teeth pierced the skin, and a few drops of fresh blood seeped out, which Gu Zhuo casually licked away. The Alpha pheromones swept in like an overwhelming tide, wrapping the two within. A trace of sweet scent hidden in the blood was captured by Gu Zhuo, so he lost a bit of control and increased the force to obtain more of the sweet fragrance.
Jiang Yanning went from initial pain to falling into a quagmire from which he couldn’t break free. His body became increasingly weak, almost sliding off the chair onto the floor, until he was caught by Gu Zhuo around the waist and pressed back into the chair. He had miscalculated; he had agreed far too easily. Gu Zhuo’s strength was extraordinarily large; he couldn’t break free at all. He was swept into the waves.
Gu Zhuo sat face-to-face on Jiang Yanning’s lap, as if clinging to his embrace. Strange sensations swept through Jiang Yanning’s whole body; he gradually lost track of the passage of time. He only knew that when the waiter came to knock on the door midway, he had a moment of clarity and struggled to push the person off. But Gu Zhuo forcefully pinned both his hands and gently kissed the back of his neck again, and he instantly gave up resistance. He learned for the first time that the back of the neck was such a fatal spot.
By the time he regained consciousness, the marking had ended. Gu Zhuo rested his head on his chest and rubbed against him pleasingly.
“Brother, are you okay?”
Jiang Yanning lifted a weak hand and patted his head, his voice hoarse: “You little bastard, were you trying to bite me to death?”
His hand was steadily caught midway as it fell, and then guided to rest against Gu Zhuo’s cheek. Jiang Yanning lowered his eyes, letting him act, finally meeting those eyes full of smiles and feeling his palm being gently rubbed.
“Brother, you’re the best.”
The itch transmitted from his palm all the way to his heart. Jiang Yanning felt he was sick. For a moment, his heart rate accelerated, chaotic and disorganized.
…
As it turned out, being a “good brother” was not easy. At least right now, Jiang Yanning could only curl up in the chair with his eyes closed to rest. Meanwhile, the satisfied Gu Zhuo briskly tidied the briefcase, put the document he had already signed inside, and incidentally pulled out the large medical bandage Jiang Yanning carried with him, preparing to stick it on the back of his neck.
Selfishly, Gu Zhuo didn’t want his mark hidden, but he also knew that exposing such a large tooth mark would invite much criticism. However, a moment before sticking it on, Gu Zhuo called over 77, who had been obediently blocking the door, and bought a “gland patch” from the Interstellar era on credit. This material was softer and less irritating.
After the waiter knocked on the door again, Jiang Yanning finally stood up, preparing to leave. His glasses hid his red-rimmed eyes behind the lenses, his jacket hid the disheveled shirt inside, and he messily ran his fingers through his sweat-dampened hair twice; only then was he barely presentable enough to go out and see people.
Getting into the car, Gu Zhuo asked curiously: “Where to now? Back to the company?”
With a sweep of his slightly red-rimmed eyes, Jiang Yanning’s voice was weak. “Home.”
