The Protagonist 'Gong' Became my Wife - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Biting So Hard
With the plan tentatively settled, the group moved on to “Twilight.”
Gu Zhuo was keen to try the alcohol in this world. He downed several glasses in a row, smacked his lips, and found it was actually quite good.
Jiang Yanning disapproved and took his glass away. “Take it easy; this stuff has a strong kick that hits you later.”
Gu Zhuo brushed him off. He had attended so many galas in the interstellar world that he was practically a legendary drinker.
But he forgot back then, the only thing he was permitted to drink was fruit wine specially prepared for Omegas, which had an extremely low alcohol content.
Thus, when Jiang Yanning looked away for a moment to chat with his friends, Gu Zhuo was already clutching a wine bottle, slumped dizzily into the sofa. His cheeks were flushed pink, and his eyes were shrouded in a misty, watery glaze.
Seeing Jiang Yanning, he instinctively leaned over, opening his arms for a hug.
Jiang Yanning’s heart softened instantly. He let the boy wrap his arms around his waist, only to turn and meet the gossipy stares of his friends.
“A man in love really is different! Yanning, you’re no longer the cold-faced CEO I used to know!” Li Mengze remarked, swirling his glass, before being smacked on the back of the head by Li Xianyue.
Seeing that Gu Zhuo was completely wasted, she suggested that Jiang Yanning take him home first. No one objected, watching as the two got into the back seat of the car.
Inside the car, Gu Zhuo, who had been lying quietly, suddenly sat up and stuffed himself into Jiang Yanning’s arms. The driver in the front seat saw this in the rearview mirror, shuddered, and promptly raised the privacy partition.
Jiang Yanning sighed in relief and relaxed his body, letting Gu Zhuo sprawl over him. Perhaps due to the alcohol, Gu Zhuo’s body temperature was high, and even his breath felt scorching. The air against Jiang Yanning’s neck grew itchy, making him shift uncomfortably.
Gu Zhuo immediately became alert. He hooked his arms around Jiang Yanning’s neck and used his limbs to forcefully bind the man’s hands and feet, rendering him immobile.
A faint, ghostly sweet scent of milk wafted through the air.
The dazed Gu Zhuo followed the scent, leaning in to lick with the tip of his tongue. The body beneath him trembled, and the scent grew even thicker. Gu Zhuo intensified his efforts—licking, nibbling, and biting. No matter how much the person in his arms struggled, he wouldn’t let go.
It was poor Jiang Yanning who suffered, baring his increasingly sensitive nape and letting himself be “slaughtered.”
The drive home wasn’t long, yet Jiang Yanning was covered in a thin layer of sweat. When the car stopped at the villa, Gu Zhuo was still incoherent; every time Jiang Yanning tried to push him away, he clung tighter.
Helpless, Jiang Yanning simply picked the boy up, supporting his waist, and carried him all the way to the door. Once inside, Gu Zhuo suddenly looked up, sniffing the residual pheromone scent in the air. Realizing this was a safe place, his grip loosened, and his feet returned to the floor.
With the warmth gone from his arms, Jiang Yanning felt a bit unaccustomed. He rubbed his fingertips together and instructed: “You’ve been drinking. Sit in the living room for a bit; I’ll get you some honey water.”
After settling him on the sofa, Jiang Yanning went to the kitchen and returned shortly with the drink. “Here, drink up.”
Gu Zhuo sat perfectly upright, took the cup, and downed it in one go. Jiang Yanning, seeing him so obedient, couldn’t help but pat the fluffy head. “So well-behaved. Here’s a tissue, wipe your mouth.”
By the time he returned from putting the cup away, Gu Zhuo seemed different again. His eyes were locked onto Jiang Yanning, following him wherever he moved. Jiang Yanning had no choice but to take his hand and lead him back to his room, telling him to take a bath.
Gu Zhuo went. But he didn’t come out for a long time.
When Jiang Yanning pushed the door open to check, he found the hot water running loudly. Gu Zhuo was sitting blankly in the bathtub, hugging his knees.
“What’s wrong? Gu Zhuo? Xiao Zhuo?”
The sweet scent on Jiang Yanning’s body drifted into Gu Zhuo’s nostrils. He suddenly felt hungry. A hunger that made him want to tear the owner of this scent apart and devour him whole.
The steam prevented Jiang Yanning from sensing the abnormality. He figured Gu Zhuo was just too drunk to finish the bath. He stepped through the mist, his white shirt quickly getting soaked, but he didn’t care. He reached out to take Gu Zhuo’s hand to lead him out.
Suddenly, a massive force pulled him into the water.
Hot water flooded over his head, sealing his mouth and nose. The momentary sensation of near-death made Jiang Yanning instinctively cling to the nearest thing, practically squeezing himself into Gu Zhuo’s embrace. His face flushed red, and he tried to pull back.
But Gu Zhuo wouldn’t allow it.
…
At 7:00 AM, Jiang Yanning was woken up again by his biological clock. Rubbing his temples, he began to recall where he was. The strange sensations on his body instantly dragged him back to last night, and his handsome face darkened.
But when he looked down at Gu Zhuo’s lovely profile, those long eyelashes, the perky nose, the rosy lips his heart began to throb uncontrollably.
So beautiful. He had seen beautiful people before, but he felt that Gu Zhuo was built exactly to his tastes. Just one look made his heart itch.
He stared for quite a while until Gu Zhuo slowly opened his eyes, spat out the “red bean” in his mouth, and blinked in a daze.
What did I do last night?
77, hiding behind the curtains, answered his confusion.
【 Host, those few glasses of wine triggered a pseudo-estrus (suspected rut/heat) last night. You stayed in the bathroom with Jiang Yanning for over half an hour before coming out. 】
77 paused for a second, checked the data on the screen, and sighed.
【 Host, you’re not doing so hot! Only half an hour? Last time it was a whole night! 】
A vein popped on Gu Zhuo’s forehead. 【 Shut up. You’re overthinking it. 】
He was certain nothing “happened.” His pseudo-estrus was soothed only because he had marked Jiang Yanning. The milky scent lingered in his mouth, deep in his bones and blood. Jiang Yanning’s constitution seemed to have been altered by him; he was gradually transforming into an Omega!
This discovery made Gu Zhuo’s breathing quicken. This was a tragedy for Jiang Yanning, who, thinking Gu Zhuo wasn’t fully awake yet, pressed down on the back of his head.
“Bite away, bite away. Stop tossing me around; my neck is about to be snapped by you.”
Gu Zhuo turned red and scrambled up to check Jiang Yanning’s neck. The teeth marks were still there, and the small flame at the center had become even more vivid, looking like a red tattoo. He breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, a gland hadn’t differentiated yet, and it wasn’t a complete marking.
“I’m sorry, Brother. I was drunk last night. Does it hurt?”
Jiang Yanning sat up. The fabric of the blanket brushed against his chest, bringing a sharp, stinging pain. But in front of Gu Zhuo, he maintained his dignity as the elder, calmly getting out of bed and tidying his clothes.
“I’m fine. Go wash up. I’m leaving; I have to work soon.”
The moment he stepped out of the room, Jiang Yanning’s expression crumpled. He fished two Band-Aids out of the medical kit and carefully applied them. Only then did he feel slightly better.
“That little puppy… biting so hard…”
…
After that night, the two tacitly acted as if nothing had happened, though they would still quickly avert their eyes after an accidental glance to hide their true emotions.
Five days passed like this. The two only saw each other briefly in the mornings and evenings, each busy with their own affairs. Gu Zhuo rested his chin on his hand, looking worried.
【 77, do you think Brother was scared by me? 】
77 ran its data and said honestly: 【 It’s possible. But Host, your mission progress has been exceptionally good these past few days, so please continue to be worried. 】
Speaking of missions, it was nothing more than eating with Qi Chi, sitting at the basketball court watching him play, and giving him water after the game—during which he had to be knocked down and have the bottle fly out of his hand.
Gu Zhuo switched hands to prop up his chin. He wasn’t being proactive about the mission; he was just numbing himself so he wouldn’t think about the things between him and Jiang Yanning.
Today was the last day of eating with Qi Chi. Coincidentally, Gu Xiao was returning tomorrow, so the subsequent plot could be handled by him.
“Junior? Junior Gu? What’s wrong? Is the food not to your taste?”
Gu Zhuo snapped back to reality and shook his head. “I’m fine. I just remembered I have things to do tomorrow. Since Gu Xiao is coming back, I’ll have him come watch your basketball game.”
Qi Chi was a bit confused. What did his basketball game have to do with Gu Xiao? He clearly wanted Gu Zhuo to come. But since Gu Zhuo was busy, he didn’t push it and happily went to the front desk to pay.
Gu Zhuo gave him a strange look. 【 How odd. He’s being treated like a total sucker and yet he’s so happy. I thought he wouldn’t dare come back after two tries. 】
77 remained stoic. Its internal data had already calculated a logical explanation, but it didn’t dare say it out loud. It was afraid the Host might get impulsive and beat Qi Chi to death.
After the meal, Gu Zhuo walked out of the restaurant and wandered along the street. Preoccupied, he didn’t notice a familiar car parked at the corner.
The person inside the car held a phone, radiating a cold aura. The person on the other end of the line was still urging him.
“Yanning, did you see? They went out together again today. I bet they’re eating at that place again. Yanning, do you want me to help you catch them in the act?”
Jiang Yanning sneered, squeezing two words through his teeth: “No need.”
Five days. For these five days, he had been restless because of the “wounds” on his chest. Ashamed to let Gu Zhuo see him like that, he stayed at the company as much as possible. He didn’t expect that in just a few days, Gu Zhuo would be targeted by someone else, being invited to lunch every day. And he was smiling so happily, leaning so close!
Maybe it had been more than five days! If Wen Xiyu hadn’t happened to see them, he might have waited until Gu Zhuo brought his “true love” before him, asking to break the agreement to fulfill their happiness, before he noticed anything.
A fire of jealousy burned from his heart through his entire body. Jiang Yanning threw his phone aside, his fists clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. Yet, he didn’t dare rush over to confront Gu Zhuo for fear of losing his composure.
After sulking in the car for a while, he suddenly sent a message, started the car, and drove toward the racing track.
Once there, his expression remained grim. He did two or three laps around the track before stopping. He removed his helmet, sweat dripping from his jawline, his entire being radiating an aggressive aura.
Wenyun, standing nearby, felt his legs go weak from the attraction, his face flushing slightly.
When Gu Zhuo arrived there wearing the “shell” of Ding You, this was the scene he witnessed.
