The Protagonist 'Gong' Became my Wife - Chapter 17
Chapter 17: Because He Is the Protagonist
Jiang Yanning did not have very pleasant dreams.
He had been thrown into a colosseum where giant, ferocious beasts could emerge from any direction at any moment. Trapped in that body, he spent the entire night running, narrowly escaping death under a wolf’s jaws by a hair’s breadth.
Fortunately, his biological clock woke him up.
As he slowly sat up in bed, Jiang Yanning couldn’t help but clutch his waist.
What was going on?
Even though it was just a dream, why did he feel so sore and drained of energy in reality?
By the time he finished washing up, Gu Zhuo was already waiting for him downstairs. Several breakfast items were laid out on the table, appearing as though he had gone out early to buy them.
Jiang Yanning stepped forward and first lifted Gu Zhuo’s chin to check the sunburn on his face. After one night, it had almost completely healed. He let out a sigh of relief and casually patted Gu Zhuo’s head.
“Why up so early today? Do you have morning classes?”
Gu Zhuo keenly noticed the slight hesitation in Jiang Yanning’s movement as he sat down, and the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but curl upward.
He nodded. “Yes, I have class this morning. Eat quickly, Brother. I’ll have to trouble you to drive me to school after you’re done.”
Seeing Gu Zhuo’s look of anticipation, Jiang Yanning felt a pang of jealousy. He’s probably rushing to school to find that Qi Chi guy, he thought. Still, he wouldn’t refuse Gu Zhuo, and he began eating his porridge a bit faster.
Once they reached the school gates, Gu Zhuo opened the car door and stepped out. He walked briskly, as if someone were waiting for him.
On a sudden whim, Jiang Yanning called out to him. Gu Zhuo turned back, looking confused.
Jiang Yanning licked his lower lip. “How about… I pick you up tonight? Are you free this evening?”
Gu Zhuo thought for a moment. “I am. If you need something, Brother, just say the word.”
“I want to take you to meet my friends.”
Friends…
“Okay!”
With the plans settled, Jiang Yanning checked the time and drove away. Standing where he was, Gu Zhuo suddenly thought of a question.
77, after I leave, will the people in this world still remember me?
77 flipped through the employee handbook.
【 Host, theoretically, they won’t. If we succeed, the plotline will be repaired and all traces of you will be erased. Everything you and Ding You did will be attributed to Gu Xiao. Because he is the protagonist. 】
Gu Zhuo lowered his eyes and remained silent. 77 couldn’t analyze its host’s current mood, so it stayed quiet as well.
After a long while, another question occurred to Gu Zhuo.
What should we do about our first mission? Let’s deal with Qi Chi’s first.
77 had no objections; it felt lucky to have such a mission-oriented host!
【 Host, I’ve found that Qi Chi is a member of the school basketball team. He is currently training in the gymnasium. 】
Gu Zhuo had just finished a class and was preparing to get lunch, but upon hearing this, he turned around and headed for the gym.
Training, huh.
Light clothing is perfect for a body search.
In the men’s locker room at the gym, Qi Chi had just entered the shower stalls to rinse off. Gu Zhuo followed him in right after.
77 made quick work of opening Qi Chi’s locker, scanning it thoroughly, but there were still no results.
When Qi Chi emerged from the showers humming a tune shirtless and wiping his hair with a towel he suddenly saw Gu Zhuo standing in the middle of the locker room. Gu Zhuo was still carrying his bag, looking like he had come straight from class.
Qi Chi stepped forward, feeling inexplicably shy.
“Junior Gu, are you here for me?”
Gu Zhuo turned his head, his indifferent gaze sweeping over Qi Chi’s entire body.
Even though they were both men and looking was no big deal, Qi Chi felt as if his whole body were on fire. He couldn’t help but flex his well-developed pectoral muscles.
77 signaled again: No anomalies found.
Only then did Gu Zhuo reply.
“Yes. You took me to the infirmary yesterday. I’m very grateful and wanted to thank you in person.”
Qi Chi scratched his head. “It was nothing, really. You’re being too polite, Junior Gu.”
Gu Zhuo nodded. “Alright then, I’ll be going now. Goodbye, Senior.”
“Wait! Hold on!”
Qi Chi stopped him. For some reason, he didn’t dare look directly at Gu Zhuo’s exquisite face. His lips twitched, and with reddened ears, he said, “How about… I treat you to lunch!”
Lunch?
Gu Zhuo caught the keyword.
“Sure.”
