- Chapter 20 - A Face Flushed with Passion
The start of the birthday banquet was set for seven in the evening. Renowned figures from various social circles had been invited, all hoping to catch a glimpse of this young master who was pampered in the palm of the Su family’s hand to see if he was truly as unforgettable and breathtaking as the rumors suggested.
“It’s already seven-thirty. Why hasn’t he come out yet?” someone grumbled indignantly.
“Exactly. It’s been over half an hour. It’s not right to keep us waiting like this.”
A woman standing nearby let out a snort, mocking them with a cold sneer: “If you can’t wait, then leave. It’s not like we’re lacking the few of you anyway.”
“He’s here, he’s here!” someone exclaimed, and the noisy hall immediately fell into a hush.
On the spiral staircase, a group of people descended slowly and steadily. The youth at the center seemed to carry his own halo. He was dressed in a well-tailored, fitting suit; his slightly rounded eyes were crystal clear, framed by long, thick eyelashes.
His crimson lips were pursed, and a few buttons on his light blue collar were undone, revealing a glimpse of his exquisite collarbone. A waistcoat traced his supple waist, and a deep blue gemstone shimmered with a dazzling, enchanting luster. He was breathtakingly beautiful.
“He’s so fair… truly beautiful,” marveled a man who had come for the first time after hearing Su Xi’s name.
“He looks much better than in his photos. I wonder who will be lucky enough to end up with an Omega like this,” an Alpha standing in the corner muttered, a dark glint flashing in his eyes as he watched the youth descend like a star surrounded by moons.
Various conversations rose and fell, but unfortunately, Su Xi heard none of them. His gaze swept the entire hall, but he couldn’t find Duan Cheng. After meeting Duan Cheng in the backyard earlier, he had returned alone; the man said he needed to go to the restroom first and told Su Xi to go ahead.
“Xiao Ba, where is Duan Cheng?” Su Xi asked the system in his mind.
System Xiao Ba paused for two seconds, located the information, and replied: “In the corner to your left.”
Su Xi looked casually in that direction as instructed. Duan Cheng’s attire looked exceptionally plain among the crowd; standing in the dim shadows of the corner, he was easily overlooked.
Su Xi pursed his lips. He wanted to go to him, but restricted by the banquet’s schedule, he could only stand in place and listen to the host’s long string of blessings. Finding it annoying, he directly signaled the man to wrap it up. After a few words from Mother Su, the banquet officially began.
As the protagonist, Su Xi slipped away from the front hall. Just as he was about to find Duan Cheng, he was unexpectedly grabbed by Li Huai and Fu Heng at the same time. With both hands held, he had nowhere to retreat. “Both of you, let go.”
They released him simultaneously as his voice fell. With several malicious gazes lingering on him, Su Xi looked at Fu Heng somewhat unnaturally. He held out his hand and gave a slight nod. “Where’s my gift?”
Seeing the boy’s pampered and overbearing manner, Fu Heng let out a soft chuckle and produced the gift he had prepared long ago, handing it to Su Xi.
Before Su Xi could open it, another gift was placed in his hand, this one from Li Huai.
“Happy birthday,” Li Huai offered his blessing with a gentle tone and a smile in his eyes.
Su Xi looked at the two palm-sized gift boxes and decided to open them later. His eyes searched for where he had last seen Duan Cheng, only to find the man had long since vanished.
“Have some fun. Let me accompany you to cut the cake?” Li Huai was the first to take Su Xi’s hand. Smelling the orchid fragrance emanating from the boy, his amber eyes turned dark. He casually handed the gifts in the boy’s hands to a nearby attendant. “You can unwrap the gifts later.”
Su Xi nodded, thinking that made sense. But… what about Duan Cheng?
In the bustling hall, Su Xi was surrounded. Guests from all walks of life toasted him, wishing him a happy birthday. Coaxed and cajoled, Su Xi drank glass after glass. Fu Heng and Li Huai, who had been standing beside him, were also surrounded by the crowd and pushed away; they could only watch as the boy’s face grew increasingly flushed.
In reality, Su Xi was already drunk. He could only rely on instinct to find someone to lean on, but the surrounding scents were too strange and mixed, and his vision was blurred. When a few more glasses of wine were pushed toward him, he frowned and pushed them away muddledly. “Not drinking anymore.”
“Just one more glass,” someone continued to egg him on. The man’s hand brazenly landed on Su Xi’s supple waist, but before he could move further, a sharp pain shot through his hand.
Duan Cheng’s grip was immense; the man felt as if the bones in his hand were about to be crushed.
“So thirsty…” Su Xi felt that the more he drank, the thirstier he became. He poked out the tip of his tongue to lick his dry lips. The intoxication of the alcohol muddled his thoughts. He blindly reached out and grabbed the hand of the person in front of him, leaning in close.
Duan Cheng looked at the suddenly approaching Su Xi, the orchid fragrance on him rich and heady. He held the drunken boy tightly, his voice slightly hoarse: “Can you see who I am?”
Su Xi lifted his eyes and looked carefully at the person holding him. Unfortunately, he could only make out a rough silhouette, so he simply called out based on instinct: “A-Cheng…”
Hearing Su Xi’s words, the anxiety in Duan Cheng’s heart finally settled. He led the boy out of the crowd, his oversized coat nearly enveloping him entirely to protect him from the touch of others.
In the distance, Fu Heng and Li Huai finally managed to brush off the people surrounding them, but when they looked back, Su Xi was nowhere to be found.
In a guest room on the second floor, Duan Cheng carefully placed the boy on the bed and gently removed his shoes. Just as he was about to fetch some water to clean him up, his hand was suddenly grabbed.
Su Xi tugged at his collar, the corners of his eyes flushed a deep rose from the alcohol. He spoke indistinctly, trying to make the man stay: “Don’t go… I feel uncomfortable.”
“Is it your heat?” Duan Cheng’s brow furrowed tightly. Feeling the room suddenly fill with the rich scent of orchids, he stepped forward to touch the boy’s gland. Su Xi couldn’t help but tremble all over, his fair skin flushing a pale pink like a ripe peach that could be crushed into juice with very little effort.
“Duan Cheng, today is my birthday. You have to listen to me.” Su Xi’s jade-like face was full of daze. Clearly, he was so drunk he was no longer conscious; the words he spoke now were all based on primal instinct.
“You clearly rejected me before, and now you’re…”
Duan Cheng pulled the boy’s scorching hand down and began to unbutton his shirt. The exposed skin was snow-white. His exquisite collarbone led down to a red mole near his waist that was exceptionally eye-catching. His slender waist possessed a flexibility that Duan Cheng could feel even through his clothes at the banquet.
His eyes lowered as he accidentally brushed against that silky skin, withdrawing his hand as if he had received an electric shock.
Su Xi felt miserable all over without any relief. As an Omega’s instinct, he released even more pheromones to attract people, but Duan Cheng was just an ordinary Beta. No matter how much Su Xi tried to entice him, the man would not have a reaction. Su Xi looked up at him, tiny tears clinging to his long, curled eyelashes. He bit his lips without making a sound, curling his whole body into a ball like a small shrimp.
Duan Cheng hurried to the bathroom to get water. After wetting a towel, he knelt by the bed to wipe the boy’s burning body. Ignoring his negligible struggles, he said softly, “The suppressant is coming soon. Just bear with it.”
It would be fine if Su Xi could bear it, but right now, he simply couldn’t.
In the original plot, Duan Cheng and he were engaged. But before entering Qingling, he had accidentally stumbled upon a scene where Duan Cheng was confronting others and even heard the man’s disdain for him, saying he was nothing more than a “breeding tool”…
That was why he had hated Duan Cheng so much afterward, watching coldly as others bullied him.
“If you’re useless, then forget it. I’ll find someone else.”
In a fit of pique, Su Xi used his limp arms to push himself back a few steps. Forcing himself to stay conscious, he opened his communicator. Looking at the two pinned contacts, he reached out to make a call. But just as he pressed dial and before he could speak, the communicator was forcibly snatched away and thrown into the distance.
Su Xi frowned at Duan Cheng. Just as he was about to speak, his lips were blocked. A surging kiss filled with intense emotion and desire swept through his mouth, leaving no corner of his teeth unsearched. A strange, domineering aura seemed ready to swallow him whole.
His already crimson lips were kissed until they were swollen. When they parted, an ambiguous silver thread of saliva stretched between them.
He listened to the anxious inquiries coming from the communicator in the distance. Panting slightly, he reached out and wrapped his arms around Duan Cheng’s neck, his eyes hazy with intoxication. “What birthday gift did you prepare for me?”
“What gift do you want?” Duan Cheng countered instead of answering.
Su Xi pretended to think seriously for a moment before blurting out: “Give yourself to me, okay?”
His words, laced with a coquettish tone, reached Duan Cheng’s ears. Duan Cheng froze for a moment. Looking into those misty, water-filled eyes, his voice turned hoarse: “Do you know what you’re saying?”
“I like you the most.” Su Xi smiled and hooked his arms around Duan Cheng’s neck, leaning in to kiss the man’s lips. He repeated in a soft voice, “If you’re unwilling, then I’ll give myself to you. Is that okay?”
Hearing his words, Duan Cheng’s heart raced violently. He felt as if fireworks had exploded in his mind, and all his thoughts came to a standstill.
Seeing no response, Su Xi irritably tugged at his already messy clothes and moved his gland close to the man, continuing: “I feel so uncomfortable… kiss me.”
Anyone faced with such a Su Xi would be unable to resist the temptation, let alone a Duan Cheng who had already lost his heart. Su Xi felt the warm breath on his sensitive skin and lowered his eyes to hide his emotions. The haziness in his eyes vanished, leaving only clarity.
Ding-dong! Congratulations, Host. The Salvation Value has reached 90. System 1368’s mechanical voice suddenly rang in his mind, filled with excitement and surprise.
Su Xi quietly blocked the system and embraced Duan Cheng with his whole heart, allowing the man to kiss his fragile gland wantonly. The strange pleasure in his body made him feel as if he were truly falling.
Once the Salvation Value reached 90%, any fluctuations would generally stay within ten points. This meant that no matter what he did, even if Duan Cheng were angry, the man would still have reservations because he loved him.
“Mm…” He let out a muffled groan, his arms going so soft he had no strength left, hanging loosely around Duan Cheng’s neck. The corners of his eyes were flushed red, tormented by desire.
Half an hour later, looking at the person who had fallen into a deep sleep after receiving the suppressant and drinking the sobriety soup, a trace of regret flashed through Duan Cheng’s heart. He had almost exposed his identity just now.
It wasn’t that he was afraid; it just wasn’t the right time yet.
