- Chapter 14 - Inuyasha Prequel—1
Despite a considerable amount of time having passed, Tsubaki still hadn’t stepped out from the shadow of losing her parents.
She still remembered that back then, her village looked exactly like right now vicious, crimson flames licking against snapped roof beams, the village diffusing with a black smoke mist that carried a pungent odor.
A wolf pack roamed and paced near a sheep-gut path a short distance away, staring like a tiger watching its prey at the village structures that had long lost their shape. They even let out several show-of-force howls from time to time.
So terrified. She bit her lower lip hard, her hands tightly clutching her sleeve cuffs, her breathing turning a bit unnatural.
From the burning ruins behind her transmitted the sound of wood snapping apart when it could no longer hold out, transforming into a prompting beat by the time it reached her ears, while the growls escaping from the beasts’ throats also looked on the verge of closing in.
Her tightly clenched knuckles gradually turned white, Tsubaki looking with panic at everything unfamiliar across her surroundings. She wanted so much to bolt out, but… she lowered her head to track the soil beneath her feet why couldn’t she move her steps?
So terrified, so terrified, so terrified.
“Excuse me, are you alone?” Dazai Osamu crouched before her, a genial smile across his face. “Did you lose track of your family?”
“A Lord Kami… is it?” Like an individual manifesting out of thin air, he suddenly manifested exactly when she required him most. The moment she caught sight of Dazai Osamu, she looked exactly as if she had drained her strength, turning a bit unstable the split second she suddenly relaxed. Her tears could no longer be restrained from flowing out; Tsubaki tracked the person crouching before her, feeling his entire person was radiating with a brilliant light. It looked exactly as if so long as he was present, she held zero dread toward anything, and there was zero to be terrified of across her surroundings.
Ding—The pre-designated capture line【Inuyasha】has unloosed; the target entity is locked onto Naraku.
The system held zero idea where to begin commentating. Should it note that its host’s fortune parameters were truly decent?? Lunging down a well and running into a “door” anew on his heels.
“Let me audit the data files for this universe,” Dazai Osamu communicated to his system while maintaining eye contact with Tsubaki.
A young girl just past ten years old, her face lined with tears, a pair of dark eyes tracking Dazai Osamu without a single blink. Standing solitary before a ruin burning with wild fires, her lean, small frame appeared exceptionally pitiable.
“I am zero god,” Dazai Osamu stood up to gently pet her head, Tsubaki restraining her instinct to shrink her head back, before feeling this touch was warm to a metric where she held zero desire to loosen her grip during the next second.
“Where is your family?” Dazai surveyed her attire, which remained relatively orderly and clean; this child shouldn’t be a solitary individual by right.
“They passed away a long duration ago,” Dazai’s manifestation was far too sudden, exactly like experiencing a dream landscape, leaving Tsubaki still somewhat hazy currently.
If the system knew what she was mentally evaluating, it wouldn’t be able to resist commentating with total irony: Little sister, your thoughts are far too excessive; he merely happened to cross over to this location right on the heels of lunging down a well.
The system truly held zero phrases to return toward its host; a disagreement unloosed and he lunged down a well to execute a suicide, yet smoothly crossed over anew on his heels. Sure enough, parameters entangled with the host couldn’t be explained utilizing normal logic regardless.
“Your name?” When Dazai Osamu displayed gentleness toward an individual, there was likely zero character capable of refusing.
“Tsubaki.”
Dazai Osamu positioned his hand beneath his jaw: “This counts as a somewhat bad turn.”
System: “…”
Tsubaki’s character parameters were written with absolute clarity inside the data files a priestess who turned dark due to jealousy, a spot-on antagonist. But none of those counted as the most crucial parameter; the most crucial parameter was that inside the files, she was a dark priestess who lived within an identical era as Kikyo, capable of standing out to seek complications for the protagonist group even after Kikyo had been dead for who knew how many years.
But the young girl before them self-claiming as Tsubaki informed them of a brutal reality track: They had crossed over far too early.
If this young girl was genuinely that dark priestess, then Naraku their capture target currently would highly likely require a mountain of years to elapse before manifesting.
The system also audited the young girl before them: “The timeline track is inaccurate; counts as a blank trip?” It felt a bit regretful. “Looks like the mission cannot be completed this time.”
“Do you possess a location to proceed to?” Dazai Osamu retracted his hand into his pocket. “I shall depart right on the heels of right now.”
“Zero…” a few traces of helplessness flashed within the girl’s dark pupils, stepping forward to clasp a corner of Dazai’s trench coat. “Can your person bring me along?”
Colliding with Dazai’s gaze, she suddenly diverted her eyes away with a bit of a frantic rush, dropping her voice low: “Solitary solo… I hold zero idea where to proceed; the perimeter is lined entirely with those bandits who destroyed the village, I am terrified… I want to depart this location with total speed.”
The girl wore thin attire, her shoulders trembling.
“Then let’s proceed together,” Dazai smiled. “I am likely somewhat un-adept at looking after individuals.”
“Right on cue—your person can address me as Teacher Dazai. From now on, let it fall to me to guide your parameters.”
System: “Three years to begin with, maximum penalty execution, thank you.”
“Rest anchored, I merely desire to salvage a soul that might tread onto a stray path anyway,” he looked at the Tsubaki beside his frame with a half-smile. “This counts as a clever child.”
“From what parameter did your person scan out her cleverness?”
“Knowing to fight for the objects she desires at an age of this metric isn’t that exceptionally clever?” He completely dismissed whether a high-technology product like the system could decrypt human tactical tracks.
Though the attire Tsubaki wore was thin, auditing the fabric structure verified it was decent, and the pattern strongly resembled the priestess garments of this era. Connecting with the data files of this universe, she had highly likely emerged together with individuals from a shrine, being left right here to wait for people. Auditing her urgent image for wanting to depart, the individuals she was waiting for were highly likely on the verge of arriving.
“Dread zero,” Dazai Osamu clasped Tsubaki’s hand. “Bringing you away from here right on the heels of right now.”
“What is Tsubaki’s favorability parameter toward my person currently?” walking along the path tracks, Dazai asked his system.
“Let me check,” the system voiced, before harboring an impulse to unleash a mental curse during the next second. “80.”
Why was it this high? Did this garbage host genuinely possess a peculiar attraction parameter toward children of this age metric?
Lacking any surprise, Dazai Osamu slowed his strides, accommodating the somewhat slow foot pace of the child. Though she had fabricated a lie toward himself, that child was genuinely experiencing terror moments ago; that parameter couldn’t be faked regardless. Leaving a child of this metric right here to wait for people was truly a bit… inappropriate.
Losing the care of parents since childhood, and afterward maintaining an ordinary or highly likely an exceptionally rancid relationship with her master inside the shrine structure. Mentally evaluating that woman whose core was occupied by jealousy inside the data files verified that character cultivation shares an absolute connection with the growth environment.
Running into her stood as a parameter where zero logic existed to leave her alone. Hopefully this time around, she can live a fraction more happily.
“Tsubaki must transform into an excellent individual in the future,” he opened his mouth suddenly.
“Mm!” the girl responded with absolute earnestness exactly like issuing a vow, sparks dancing within the eyes she used to look at him.
